I hate to do this, cause I love Cava; but this location needs to step it up. I moved here from San Diego 6 months ago. I ate at Cava about once a week there, at the Mission Valley location. That said, I was obviously a fan. The Cava location here is far from par. This is my 5th or 6th time ordering from the Wilmington, NC location. Every single time I ordered, there was something severely wrong. For example, this time I ordered a half grain half greens bowl. My 1/2 greens 1/2 grains bowl consisted of about 1/16 super green; and the majority of the super greens were whole, half slices brussel sprouts. If you slice them whole, you're left with the core, which has a very wood-like texture; and is the most bitter part of the plant. There were only three slices of kale, which also consisted mostly of the core. The cherry tomatoes were mostly JUST the sliced tops, which consist of the core stem. All of these items are considered byproduct in the industry; and are undesirable ingredients for cuisines. To give you an understanding of my credibility, I worked in the industry for 15 yrs plus. Half of those years, I was and executive chef, and served as a restaurant consultant. The majority of the time, I worked in fine dining; including Michelin rated restaurants. I also travel to different countries every year, and seek out the best restaurants. I have eaten at countless 3 star Michelin rated restaurants world wide; including Mirazur, named the number one restaurant in the world by The World's 50 Best Restaurants. I was also featured in magazines on the Northern East Coast, and SoCal. So, there you go. Please get it together. I would love to order more from your location, and receive food from you that is up to par with the SoCal locations. read more

Pretty neat chain concept. It's like a Mediterranean Subway with how you order. Staff is friendly and the food is good and light. If you have a really large appetite, this may not be the best choice. I love the dip and dressing options. I do however miss Zoe's (a lot) which it replaced. read more

This place is amazing. Others have complained about service but I've never experienced those issues. If you go to a place for it's food, this is delicious. One night my husband ordered the rice and it was undercooked. They happily replaced his entire meal for him. I cannot fault the entire restaurant for the mistake of one employee (potentially still learning). We were a part of 4 and 2 children. Everyone was happy. I do think the bowls are the better way to go as the gyro bread can become soggy & filling. 100% recommend the pita chips. They were perfect and my toddler loves them. read more

Tried cava for the first time this week and it was delicious!! I got the spicy chicken avocado pita and my husband got the sweet and spicy chicken. Both were huge and we had plenty for the next day to eat for lunch. Everything taste fresh and the spice level is just enough. Cava is a delicious and somewhat healthy fast casual restaurant. I've eaten at a couple across the state. None are superior to this location. The order is always right, the food is always warm. There are rarely shortages. They make the bowls perfectly. Tess is extraordinary. She is always so helpful and kind. She makes the experience go from good to exceptional. They should have her training across all locations. Cannot recommend this Cava location or Tess enough. read more

Cava is a unique mediterranean style cuisine that reminds me of a chipotle in the best way! Being able to build your own combination of food makes it a great fit for many and it is always leaves you feeling full and refreshed. The food and atmosphere make for a pleasant experience that will having you coming back for more When you walk in it is very welcoming and clean. An intense aroma hits your nose, but in a way that makes you crave what you are smelling. It is a little chilly in the building and could be considered a little uncomfortable but with the gorgeous exterior seating, on nice days there is no problem. As you walk to the counter you are always greeted by a delightful smile that makes you feel at ease as you select what your next crave satisfying meal will be. The food always looks fresh and appatizing making the decisions that much harder. Yes! Decisions! You walk through a pletera of food and choose what you would like, from the bottom up! Each container holds a beautiful mixture of colors textures and smells that will make your stomach rumble with desire. From the delightful bowl I chose all of the textures blended perfectly in each bit like a perfect sunny day on the beach! You just can not get enough. The texture was very unique with a mixture of crunch, creaminess, and freshness. The lettuce provided a good cold crunch and added crunch from the freshly cut cucumbers. The creaminess and garlicky taste from the sauces and dips add a new depth of flavor that makes each and every bite a savory enjoyable experience. The chicken cooked to perfection with each bite flavorful and juicy. As an extra treat each meal comes with a freshly baked pita bread that is as soft and airy as a cloud. The texture complements the creamy, crunchy texture of the bowl you create. The deliciousness does not stop there. After you create your unique bowl there are many options for refreshments. They rang from traditional soda machine drinks, Coke, Sprite and so on, to freshly made, unique drinks such as a Lavender Blueberry options or a Cucumber Mint lime. Now don't you worry if you are more basic with the drink selection because they do not disappoint. They have a freshly made in house Classic Lemonade. Traditional house made sweet and unsweet tea and a simple freshly made Strawberry Citrus drink that tastes just like summer. Again the choices are endless as you are given the freedom to mix and match what you would like to wash down the delightful, colorful bowl of food you have! I have found that mixing the Blueberry Lavender drink and the simple Classic Lemonade creates a perfect blend of fresh and sweet and a lip-puckering tart taste that makes you crave more. The options truly are endless and each time you go there is an opportunity to create something new. The prices can vary depending on what you choose to create, but for around $15 you can have a bowl of overflowing portions made in a bowl suitable to take any leftovers home and enjoy the experience of Cava not once, but twice. I first tried this chain in NYC and loved all the veg options. It's like the Mediterranean Chipotle with build your own pitas and bowls. Meat options but also falafel, lentils and other good protein options for vegetarians and vegans. Fast, friendly service right in Mayfaire for a quick lunch or yo take home. read more

Awful. Just awful. First of all they can't get the order right. This was my second time there. The first was not good but I always like to give a second chance. Even worse. There's were at least 3 ingredients in my order that I did not add and then 2 ingredients missing and it was SOGGY. It's almost like it was someone else's order. It's so sloppy (and not in the good way). It's definitely not real Grecian food. If you want that, then support local and go to Olympia. Or the Greeks. Olympia is hands down the best and where all the locals go, just thought we'd give this place a chance. Not again. They even mixed the dressing in a to go salad for my friend. Beyond thrilled to have a Cava here in Wilmington! Second trip in a week so decided I should right a review. Overall, the selection, flavors and freshness is top notch. I am generally a DIY diner at places like this so enjoy the chance to create my custom experience. Trip one was a total success - taste explosion of Mediterranean goodness. Baba ganoush is a classic side and such a hidden gem. The beluga lentils are a fun change of pace, especially as someone who cooks lentils often but had never had this type. The variety of greens, proteins, sides and sauces allows for endless combinations. My kind of place!! Today's experience was a little less satisfactory. I decided to try a menu selection - the lentil avocado bowl with falafel, roasted veggies, greens, pickled ones and special sauces (a few other items). They started to make my bowl and then notified me they were out of falafel because the fryer was broken. Ok, bummer - that's part of why I got it, but they are already making the bowl so I guess I'll stick with it. She offered to add a replacement so I appreciated that. Somehow in the bowl creation the lentils were forgotten - now two elements of the bowl missing. I didn't notice this until I was halfway through eating it (which clearly means the bowl is still highly delicious) so decided to just miss out on this element as well. I do hope to try the real dish next time - and while I was mildly disappointed, the meal was still satisfying. Also, if you've never had a Japanese sweet potato - do yourself a favor and try them here! I'm not sure if they always use this variety but truly, they are 10x better than the usual orange flesh variety. All around I have had friendly service, feel the price is great for the quality and value. Good food but service was horrible. Girl serving us didn't listen. My wife asked her to take some off that she put on and she got ticked and threw the bowl to the next station. My wife called her out on her attitude and she literally said. Just move on and then turned away. CAVA has always been the plug for me. One of the hardest things to leave behind when I relocated from Charlotte. I visited tonight since we now have one here and was personally helped by who I believe was management. He was attentive to me waiting on my order and checked on it for me. It's the attention to detail and rolling up of sleeves to help that will make me a repeat here because I already dug the food and will cancel a place for poor service. I went during lunch time on a Friday, it was packed but the service was still speedy! I got the green and grains bowl, with Brown Basmati Rice & baby spinach. As my protein I added grilled chicken. For toppings/ sauces I added: crazy feta and Tzatziki sauce, lots of olives, cucumbers and tomato. I also added Greek Vinaigrette. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back!
