We had never heard of Chicken Salad Chick, so when we saw them en route to our hotel, we headed inside and immediately were floored when we saw they have a dozen varieties of chicken salad! They all have cute female names like Sassy Scotty (with ranch, bacon and cheddar), Fancy Nancy (with Fuji apples, grapes and pecans), Barbie-Q (with smoked barbecue flavor), Jalapeno Holly (with diced jalapenos), well you get the idea. After you choose your chicken salad, you can order it as a scoop or a sandwich served with your choice of sides, a pickle spear, crackers and a cookie. At just $9.49 that's a great deal. Our $20.09 lunch was fantastic. We both went with a scoop. My wife had "Classic Carol" with a Grape Salad side. I went with Barbie-Q with a broccoli salad side. The chicken salad was phenomenal. A big scoop of silky smooth, full of flavor, and easy on the mayonnaise goodness. My Broccoli Salad was outstanding too - "Fresh broccoli florets tossed in a sweet vinegar-based dressing with shredded mozzarella & cheddar cheeses, topped with crispy bacon". I want to thank our server Skye who walked us through the somewhat imposing menu. She really helped us out and made it easy for us newbies to understand things. Skye wasn't the only helpful worker there, it seemed that everyone was smiling, pleasant, and helpful. Southern hospitality at its finest was on display. I was so impressed with the chain, I checked out their website and saw they have over 225 restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, N Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, S Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. I want to preface this with the fact that I love this place. It's casual. It's great for groups of friends. It's great to go alone. The staff is always friendly. The menu is vast and the food is always fresh. It's conveniently located in the shopping plaza directly across from Mayfair And it has its own parking area which at times I won't lie has scarce parking but one of the tips I tell people is to park in the lot crossing over the lanes that stop at the light to cross over to Mayfair. It's not busy enough that you have to worry about traffic or speeders. And it saves you grief getting in and out of a very tight parking lot where parking is limited because of the bank and they're marked spots. The inside is really convenient. There's eating pretty much everywhere tables when you first walk in booths in the back tables to the side different areas. The ordering counter is very easy and fluid. Sometimes you get occasional people that go the opposite way lol they don't read the signs. However the staff is patient. They have menus at the registers and above your heads you can also look online and place an order for pick up. For this particular check-in, I did a takeout order ordering at the time of arrival and it was ready literally less than five minutes. My favorite chicken salads are the fruity Frann and there's another fruit one that I love too. I can't think of the name of it. I also love the basil and lemon and I do love the classic as well as the one that's all about the yellow onions lol I'm Italian! I love my onions, however when I'm gonna see my friends, that's not the choice I'm gonna get before I go see them lol they have a selection of drinks. They have a selection of desserts like rice, crispy treats, and cookies macaroons every sandwich comes with one dill pickle spear and a singular sugar cookie with icing that is individually packaged, which I absolutely love and once you order your meal, you just conveniently sit at the bench and wait and they bring it out to you. It's not very quiet in there so if you're looking for a place to sit down and work and have a sandwich, that's not it. This is the place you go with a bunch of friends or you go with your mom or your dad and you go out to lunch as a family or you just go with your kids they have outdoor seating as well in the front with a gated area, which is always good for when you have little ones that have to sit at the table. Aside from that, what else could I say? Other than if you don't like chicken salad this isn't gonna be the place for you, but I will tell you I never liked chicken salad until I had chicken salad, chick sandwiches. I also tend to buy the little containers of the bring home chicken salad to make for my kids they love it. Especially the one with the grapes in it. My little ones that are three years old they devour their sandwich. The one thing I will mention is that there are three types of bread and you also don't have to get bread. They'll do it on the lettuce bed and one of those breads is a croissant. Or white or wheat or the other two options You can get your stuff toasted or not toasted. There's a lot of of accommodations and flexibility in ordering. I've worked in many restaurants. The taste of the chicken salad itself was very good, it's clear that the prep is well done. However, the way it was assembled was honestly awful. My bread was burnt and the edges were visibly crumbling. It was not a melt. I'm not one to leave reviews, but my food was assembled so horribly I had to. I work at Mayfair, right across the street, and will not be going here for lunch ever again. Why on earth did Chicken Salad Chick change their menu?? They used to serve chicken salad on a bed of fresh delicious green vegetables with cucumbers. I thought it was so delicious the first time I had it. Went back and they said they just changed the menu last week. Now there is NO actual green salad on the menu at all. I don't want a combo of grapes, broccoli salad, or macaroni and cheese. I want that delicious and fresh, cold salad with crisp lettuce. I really think that was a bad move. The soup was excellent, creamy but not heavy, with chicken, diced peppers, corn, black beans and lime juice. Really flavorful and delicious. The chicken salad was wonderful with the basil and lemon flavor throughout. You can taste that it was fresh-made. One friend ordered the Classic Carol as a sandwich and the same soup; and my other friend ordered the Fruity Fran with a side of grape salad. They loved their lunch too. My friend with the sandwich said it was too big so the next time, she'll go with a scoop and side. With our meal, everyone is given a complimentary mini buttercream cookie. What a nice touch. Had lunch at this neat little place in Wilmington today. Very quaint and charming looking establishment that was friendly and inviting. Every staff member had a smile and the food was delicious. I had the Spicy Pimento BLT on wheat and a scoop of their Olivia's Old South Chicken Salad. This was a great combo due to the spice of the pimento and the cooling sweet of the salad. I relished every last bite. It even came with a little cookie I wasn't expecting. Soft and mildly sweet, it was a nice topper after my meal. Tried this franchise on its grand opening day. It's located across Mayfaire. The restaurant is very spacious, with plenty of tables indoors as well as 3 tables outdoors. It was pretty busy, but I didn't have to wait too long for the food. A staff member immediately greeted me and helped me figure out what to choose from the menu. They have different kinds of chicken salads, categories ranging from traditional, savory, fruity and nutty, and spicy, as well as egg salads, pimento cheese, signature sandwiches (no beef option), and simple green salads. You can order the salads as a scoop or as a sandwich. I ordered "The Chick" ($7.99), which comes with a choice of scoop or sandwich of either chicken or egg salads or pimento cheese plus either a side item or soup or an additional scoop. Side options are: broccoli salad, grape salad, pasta salad, fresh fruit, or mac and cheese. Bread options are either white, wheat berry, or croissant, toasted or untoasted. I chose the traditional Classic Carol chicken salad as a sandwich. The Classic Carol contains finely shredded white chicken, celery, mayonnaise, and their secret seasoning. The sandwich comes with optional lettuce and tomato. The chicken salad was creamy and delicious, the best a basic chicken salad can get. I chose the Mac and cheese for my side. It was your standard Mac and cheese, creamy and cheesy. It was like eating a level above boxed Macaroni and cheese, a comfort meal that brings back memories from when you ate Kraft as a kid. The meal also included a pickle spear and a mini buttercream frosted cookie. The meal was filling-I felt satisfied after eating about half of the sandwich and the Mac and cheese. If you're in a hurry, they have their chicken salads, egg salads, and pimento cheese in to-go containers you can just grab from their refrigerated open case display next to the cashiers. In addition to cookies, they also had chocolate rice krispie treats for dessert. Decided to try this for lunch the other day . It was not terribly busy on that day . Walked in and was unsure about where to order and how it functioned - never been to this restaurant. Found a menu and a friendly staff person arrived to help out with the menu. I decided to try The Chick , a scoop of chicken salad that came with one side. I chose Cranberry Kelli; dried and sweetened cranberries and slivered almonds. For my side I chose the fresh fruit ; strawberries, blueberries, red and white seedless grapes. Took my table number and located a seat ; there are plenty of tables and seating arrangements available. Lunch arrived super quick and looked wonderful. The chicken salad was tasty , it did need more seasoning, for my taste. There was plenty of chicken - all white meat , cranberries and almonds . It came with crackers and a pickle spear which was great and a cookie - that I saved. The fruit was good , some of the grapes were past their prime but the blueberries and strawberries were good. If you haven't been to Chicken Salad Chick, my friend, you are MISSING OUT on wonderful food, stellar service and a Top Notch overall dining experience!! And SAMPLES?? Yes, Please!!!!!! I suggest a visit to get the 'Specialty Flavor of the Month,' before they run out. Read on for details!! First, you walk in, and are taken aback by the Southern Charm (yet hipster) vibe, filled with bits of artsy (and beachy) photos- really cool. The decor is quite inviting and includes colors of Celadon, Cream and Black with pops of Red...classy and just lovely. Another note: Everything is sparkly pristine...they DEFINITELY clean very often and throughout the shift. Additionally, the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen is impressive...'day dots' galore, everything marked with expiration dates (dressings, etc). Is is apparent, they are STICKLERS for food safety....well done!- and SO very important during these days and times!!! (You can tell the owners CARE...which is a little rare in some establishments). I digress..... Back to the 'experience': After you 'soak in' your surroundings, you are greeted warmly by one of the sweet staff. The customer service is truly one of the best I have ever experienced as a patron! The gal who helped me was named ?? She patiently waited as I asked for two samples and helped me figure out a combo to make me happy...while kindly chatting and smiling. The story is a bit lengthy, so you can check it out when you visit! The origins of the business are posted on the wall near the 'cold storage/take out' area. That's right folks, they also have larger sizes for you to pop in and grab for a family function, picnic or on the way to the beach- SCORE!! The take out containers are high quality and will travel well...sometimes it's the little things! (**I gripe and roll my eyes every time one of those styrofoam lids cracks the opening and won't stay shut and your food slips out, or at least, smashes all together. Or it may end up in the bottom of that crisper drawer in the fridge...you know what I'm talking about....#ANNOYING!! So for the stars of the show (besides the awesome staff ;)) I chose two scoops on a salad compiled of mixed field greens as well as cucumbers and cherry tomatoes (Pls Note: quite a large portion- and bang for your buck. I packed half of it to take home) I tried three dressings: Ranch ( good) Balsamic Vinaigrette (super good - a bit on the vinegary side- which I LOVE) House Poppyseed (good, but not my 'cup of tea' as it's pretty sweet. It had a bit of an aftertaste I couldn't place, not bad, just puzzling). Note: I bet it would be great with a spicy pepper salad with that super spicy chicken scoop - can't remember the name, I will add later- Now for the 'chicks'.... 1). The Jalapeño Holly: one of my favorites. It has a slow nice burn on the back of the palate....but NOT too spicy. SOOOOO good!!! I would suggest getting a more 'chill' scoop to go alongside, if you're sensitive to spice. 2). Yes, remember what I mentioned at the beginning.....the Special of the month...it is really good, but only if you like dill as I do... Dill-icious Diva!! The addition of crunchy chunks of cucumber is so nice and refreshing... I don't believe you will be disappointed! Bottom line: You should at LEAST come check this place out, and have a couple free samples to chose a CS to take home, but I do believe you should try eating here- and for those with a sweet tooth, each meal comes with an adorable buttercream cookie...they are super good (and I don't really enjoy buttercream icing...). They have larger cookies for sale at the checkout and a DELICIOUS looking Rice Crispy Treat with Chocolate Chips...I got one to take home and will surely mention it next time! I must be honest with you... I legit could write about, talk and take pictures of food all day long, but I gotta' go!!! I've been to numerous chicken salad chicks and everything has been amazing. I raved about this restaurant to my parents and finally took them to this location. I was really surprised that there wasn't even a full scoop of chicken salad in the croissants-my parents commented on it as well. I don't know if someone messed up (I wish I had taken pictures) but the chicken salad layer was so thin you could see all the bread lol. It was a total waste of money. This was my second time picking some lunch up from here. Everything was delicious. Their broccoli salad is so good and fresh. This time I had the jalapeno Holly and Lemon Basil Lauryn. They were both good but I definitely preferred the jalapeno. I don't know how they do it but you get the flavor of the jalapeno without the spice. It was great. The lemon basil was good and fresh.
