Located a few minutes from Wrightsville Beach in the Mayfaire area of Wilmington is P.T.'s Olde Fashioned Grille. They have a couple locations in the area and all of them generally seem to have good reviews, so made it a point to stop by for lunch. It didn't seem to be a formal sit down type place with wait staff serving you. There is a bar and a mix of indoor & outdoor seating areas, and televisions playing various sporting events. I would describe it as a fast casual grill which can serve as an informal sports bar. The staff was really friendly in assisting, as I wasn't too sure of the ordering process. There is a counter to order, but you're also supposed to fill out a form with pencils to customize your order. It wasn't clear based on the menu what the ala carte prices were since all meals listed had an upcharge for fries and a drink. Prices seemed cost prohibitive if you wanted to try out more than one menu item, so I went with their olde fashioned burger. The taste was about as good as it gets for a fast casual cooked to order eatery, and was right up my alley for the type of burger I generally enjoy. The fries came freshly made in an oil soaked bag, but were actually pretty tasty without being too greasy, and definitely a few steps up in the flavor department over fast food fries. P.T.'s made a good enough impression that I could picture myself occasionally stopping in if I was a Wilmington local. I'd recommend it to those looking for an alternative to Five Guys, in search of a spot with local flair where you can also grab a beer and take in a sports game. read more

PT's is a good quick hot and fresh burger spot and one we frequent with our multiple WB visits a year. Their fries do come with a lemon pepper seasoning so forewarning because it's not your average fry seasoning. It's good but could be off putting if you don't like that flavor. Today was disappointing, thus the three star rating. We ordered two burgers and they put the bacon on the wrong burger. Mistakes happen, no big deal. The problem is the bacon was cooked into the cheese and unfortunately wasn't easy to remedy on our own. My husband asked them to provide us bacon for his burger and to remake mine since I don't eat it. It was pretty fast that they called us back to the window and when he handed it to me I could immediately tell it was the same burger, less cheese and no bacon. Their way of fixing it was to pull off the bacon (and cheese with it). Unacceptable. Do the right thing and make a new fresh burger. I had to go back to the window to ask them for a new burger and it was still missing the correct condiments. Frustrating experience. Do better PT's! read more

Was visiting the area for a short trip and looking for a good bite that was fast and affordable. This fit the bill. I saw they have a few locations. This location is in a strip mall of sorts, but don't let that deter you from visiting. Ample parking lot, corner location. I'd read reviews prior to coming, and saw people talking about being confused by the ordering process. That helped me to look like I knew what I was doing lol. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a guy at the counter, and I quickly saw the pencils and ordering sheets. Rather simple process to select what you want on the sheet, though prices were not on the sheet but on the menu board above. I was mad at myself for overlooking the bacon add on option. I was mist shocked that you turn in the sheet and they say your order will be out shortly - without paying first. This felt like a southern move of trust haha. About 10 minutes later, these beautiful full baskets of burgers and fries were delivered to the table. The fries were fresh and delicious. I left not one behind. The burger was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and juicy without being greasy. Ended up needing a drink refill throughout my meal, and walked up to the counter and the attentive staff helped make it happen. After eating, walked back up to the counter/register to pay. I didn't bring my ticket, which was remember in my basket and kinda wet and greasy at that point. I went back to the table to get it and the staff rung up the meals. Super affordable especially considering all sandwiches come with fries (or salad) and a drink. So glad I got the opportunity to try PTs and now have another staple on my list when visiting the area! read more

Great! Place never lets me down. I've had most everything on the menu. It's all delicious. Always a go to when we're in Wilmington.

Let's start with the customer service. It was amazing!! Nothing wrong happened and passed my expectations. The workers were obviously experienced and had a smooth but quick pace. Next the food. I found this restaurant on Yelp and visited during lunch time. There is a shared parking lot in front of the business. Several tables are located inside and outside of the business. There is also a pickup window located outside. I was able to walk up to the front counter and fill out a paper with my order. You are able to add the toppings you want to the burgers. The clerk gave me my drink right away. I ended up ordering the PT burger and added ketchup, mustard, lettuce and tomatoes. The restaurant was rather busy when I visited but it didn't take too long to get my order. My burger was good. The bun was toasted and soft. The majority of my fries were hot and crispy but a few fries were over cooked and burnt. Overall I had a good experience at this restaurant. read more

This is a review for the new P.T.'s Olde Fashioned Grille in Hampstead. I have always enjoyed the P.T.'s on Military Cutoff Rd. The Hampstead location is brand new (and not listed on Yelp yet) and I had a very bad experience this afternoon and I need for the employees to understand that what happened is not okay. First, in everyone's defense, the restaurant was very busy. That's great for the financial health of the business. "Busy" requires that everyone do their part of being a well-oiled machine well. But most important to me, and this was MY personal experience..... I was completely forgotten by the team, so this review is to highlight an important point - don't lose a patron's order. My order got lost. Want to know how I know? Because I called to place a takeout order at 5:25 pm, as I was backing out of my driveway. I arrived, walked into the new location, walked straight to the register and paid my tab. The receipt notes I paid my check at 5:36 pm. (You're probably wondering why I'm making a big deal for a burger. Well, I'm in the middle of a move from Hampstead to Wilmington and I'm tired and hungry and grumpy. It's not a good reason for ranting, but it is what it is and I'll feel better if I share.). There was no one waiting to order when I walked in. There were several people placing their order and that was it. The gentleman who rang up my check was very kind and told me it would be a few minutes. I backed away from the counter, found a good spot to hold up the wall near the front door and watched and waited. A couple of times I noted staff looking for the rightful recipients of orders for two and so I was hopeful that they just forgot it was my to-go order and just needed some help locating me. Wrong. No such luck. After I watched 3 sets of multiple family members groups walk to the counter, place a to-go order, receive their bags of incredibly delicious burgers and to-die-for crispy fries (I never said I don't absolutely LOVE P.T.'s melt- in-your mouth tasty, delicious burgers, fries, grilled chicken, and salad! They are YUMMY!), but.... none of which were mine. My heart was hurting because I was dissed. The wave of hungry parents and children were flowing in and my burgers were no where to be found. Until I heard my name at 6:21 pm... Lisa??? Alas, my fries were gone by the time I made it down to Wilmington. And were they as delicious as I remembered? Ooohhhh yeeeaahhh. Yum. I've never been to this P.T.'s and I'm not sure why because it's conveniently located and a quick meal before going to the beach. We walked into a pretty filled restaurant but had no line. The staff guy was taking our drink order as we filled out their order form. I love this form since they can't get it wrong since you filled it out! We went outside to sit on the patio which is not very big, about 4-5 tables. And there was a few dirty tables but it was busy outside with takeout orders. I do like the outside window to get your food, order or pay when you are done. It's easy to ask for anything at the window instead of going back inside. All the food was hot and fresh. The fries have a lemon pepper seasoning which is different but tasty. My grilled chicken was juicy and big. And I enjoyed my lemonade too. Nice dinner outside! read more

Took a friend to the hospital and grabbed lunch from here while she was in surgery, as recommended by hospital staff. Saw paper menus on the counter and figured out that you have to write down what you wanted. As I was waiting in line a second cashier came up and said I'll take the next person... so I said, I am next...and she ignored me and took the man behind me. WOW... I repeated, I am next and the other cashier said, I will help you. I explained that I had never been here so I was a little confused as to where to mark for a salad instead of french fries. He said you can get either, I said I know, but where do you mark it for the salad. He just looked at me and I said, never mind, give me the fries. (I don't care for fries) BUT I am so glad I got them. They are the best FF I have ever had. They are sprinkled with salt and PEPPER. So good. I got a 4 ounce burger and was shocked when I lifted the bun to see half a burger. I guess because most people get the 8 ounce burger they just cut it in half for the 4 ounce. Funniest thing I have ever seen. It was a good burger. The burgers include FF or salad and a drink. The cost of my meal was $8.83 w/o tax. This place would have gotten 5 stars just for the french fries alone, but they got four stars since the young lady was rude and ignored me. read more

Instantly received amazing customer service when we walked in the door. We were greeted and asked if we had been in before. We said no and he showed us how to fill out the menu and gave us recommendations on what to order. You fill out your burger form, choosing what toppings you like, and hand it back to him. He gets your drinks then you sit and wait for your order to be brought to you. It has an old diner/ sports bar feel to it. It was very clean and comfortable. Our burgers were delicious to say the least, they tasted like burgers you make at home, but wayyyy better than what I could do! While I understand the challenges of Azalea Festival weekend and that it was the lunch rush, the staff's rudeness and dismissive behavior was disappointing. After waiting 20 minutes for my order of three burgers, and watching several people who had come in after me receive food, I politely inquired about its status, only to be brusquely told it was coming up next. Ten minutes later, still without my food and again observing several customers who ordered after me receive their orders, another staff member rudely reiterated that orders are processed in the order received. I pointed out that this couldn't be true, as I had seen numerous people who arrived after me get their food first. At that point the first staff member rudely chimed in, and told me if I didn't like it they could just give me a refund. I would have happily done that, but couldn't as I was responsible for bringing lunch to two elderly individuals. Finally, after 45 minutes of waiting and observing four more people who arrived later than me receive their food, I received my order. On the positive side the food as always was delicious. I had hoped to resolve this matter directly with management, but the phones at this location continually ring busy and automatically hang up. I also stopped at the Porter's Neck location near my house where I go all of the time, hoping to get information on how to contact management, but was informed they all have different owners. As a side note having owned a business for 25 years and having great appreciation for the service industry, and taking into consideration how busy they were I tipped 20% on my to-go order. read more
