It's hard to not like the food at Cava. It's like the mediterranean version of Chipotle and I love the flavors here. I always get a grains and bowl and ir doesn't disappoint.... except that I was charged $2.35 for 2 tiny lamb meatballs. I'm sure that wasn't a portion size. But there were 2 big problems with this location. The young woman who works here has a bad attitude. She is not friendly, has a bad disposition and definitely should not be helping customers. And she did not change her gloves by the 3rd person she helped, even after touching door handles and changing items out. She was not concerned with proper sanitation, but it was just her because I watched the other male employee change his gloves after helping someone. And speaking of nasty, the other problem was that this place was not clean. The countertop and most of the tables had leftover food debris on them. I wanted to dine-in but could not find a clean table to sit at. Then went outside because they have outdoor dining, and the same deal with every table being dirty. Disgusting. It wasn't busy and it doesn't take long to wipe tables down and sweep up. Placed online order about an hour before pick up time, got to the place and still not ready, had to wait another 20 minutes. A lot of people were waiting already, the lady preparing the food walked away from the station, another guy took over and completed my order. That's terrible service. I never write reviews on Yelp. I am not one of those "I asked for something and it took longer than 30 seconds to get it, so this place sucks" people. I used to work in the hospitality business, so I understand how hard the work is. The other night, I placed a large online order for a group. I did so at least two (closer to three) hours before it was to be picked up. I provided my payment information. The person who I sent to pick it up said that she was turned away and told that the order could not be fulfilled. I was never notified despite the fact that I am the purchaser, not to mention the fact that the store had my information because of the online order. I have lost $160 to this order in addition to an improvised order at the last minute that cost a bit more because of this debacle. No one except an automated response has ever been in touch with me to apologize or to make right the fact that I have essentially been robbed of my money. Until I hear back from this restaurant and they compensate me, I will never eat from a CAVA store ever again. I cannot think of a more disrespectful way to treat paying customers. These people should be ashamed of themselves. read more

The management at this job is honestly embarrassing. While employees are busting their ass during huge rushes, management sits in the back doing absolutely nothing instead of helping the team. The workers are overworked, unsupported, and expected to carry the entire place while management collects a paycheck for barely contributing. There is also obvious favoritism and unfair treatment going on. Certain people are hired under different positions just so they can get paid more while doing the exact same work as everyone else and in some cases doing even less. Meanwhile, other employees are expected to pick up the slack and handle tasks management's favorites don't even touch. On top of that, the racist behavior and unequal treatment have not gone unnoticed. The environment has become toxic, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. Employees deserve better than being treated unfairly while management hides in the back and refuses to lead or help when it actually matters. At this point, the management seriously needs to be replaced because the way this place is being run is completely unprofessional. Management allows people who do not even work there to be there, while actual employees are expected to carry the workload and deal with stressful rushes alone. When things get too busy for her to handle, she suddenly has people come in to help her, but when it comes to the night staff working with fewer people and less support, she could not care less because she is not the one there dealing with it. The lack of leadership, fairness, and accountability has created a toxic environment where hardworking employees are constantly overworked, ignored, and disrespected. read more

I ordered 2 bowls for pickup. Both were made completely incorrectly. Since the restaurant wasn't busy I don't know what the issue was, but I don't really care. I tried to call them and they didn't answer. The phone rang for 3 minutes and then abruptly disconnected. What a terrible location. There have been multiple social media posts recently about the cava locations being dirty and understaffed. Based on this experience I'm never going back. read more

I've eaten at the Chapel Hill location and loved the steak harissa bowl. Just ordered from Raleigh midtown two steak harissa bowls with extra steak, and the steak was so chewy and grissly our jaws were sore from chewing and most of the steak was spit out into the bottom of bowl. That dinner for two take out cost $53. Really - so disappointing for a franchise I generally love! Please do better. read more

Not terrible, but not great either. This is a quick meal restaurant where you create a salad or a bowl by going down the line and telling the associate what you'd like on your meal: grain, greens, protein. This is a healthy option and the menu looks great. The negative for me was that the food didn't taste fresh. It tasted more like room temperature 2-3 day old ingredients mixed together. The associate that crafted my meal and the handful of customers ahead of me looked like he was counting down the minutes to clock out. He was pleasant enough but he was obviously over it and ready to go home. I had to ask multiple times for him to add a bit more because he was literally giving me what looked like a teaspoon or two of each item. Perhaps it was just this location. It was around 1pm but it wasn't super busy. Overall I wasn't impressed and can't say that I'd make this a regular stop. It was that unimpressive that I really don't have much to say about it. I built a bowl with saffron basmati rice, a scoop of hummus, tzatziki and roasted red pepper hummus, falafel, feta, tomato + onion salad, pickled onions, shredded romaine and topped it all with a drizzle of yogurt dill (so tasty). I love this place soooo much!! This is like the top of the top of best fast casual restaurants. Why? Because... 1) It's clean 2) Staff is friendly 3) Food is reasonably priced (my bowl cost about $11) 4) The food is well seasoned. You would not believe how many restaurants try and get away with charging you absorbent prices for bland food, ooh it urks me but yeah this place doesn't have that problem. 5) Portions are huge! 6) It's perfect for people with allergies! They don't use and nuts or eggs in any of there fold. 7) They have vegan, vegetarian, & meat options. I really could go on and on about why I love this restaurant! I'm in LOVE!! Chipotle who??????? I don't usually review fast-food or fast-casual restaurants but since it was recommended and I fell in love with this place I thought why not. Also I know I'm years later on this which is surprising to me but I'm glad I finally went for it. The place is super clean (looks like a chipotle except this location was bigger and pretty spacious) and the staff was so nice and helpful since it was my first time. The portions were also huge and they were not stingy with their servings at all as you might see at other places such as chipotle, subway, moes, etc. where they might give you little tiny scoops of everything. Anyways, the bowl I had was a 10000/10 and I'll probably make this a weekly thing and never go back to chipotle again. I got saffron basmati rice, a kale mix which was fresh and buttery-like and good not like the usual bitterness kale tends to have, half harissa honey chicken and half braised lamb, tzatziki & hummus, corn, tomatoes, feta, pita crisps and lemon herb tahini. I'll follow the trend and give this Cava location five stars. The food is the same, but the employees are way friendlier here than at the other location in Raleigh. Since they are new they had to explain the process to a bunch of diners and they were friendly and patient with everyone. Even though they are new the employees are efficient and well trained. I'm a sucker for their braised lamb, it's so delicious. Definitely worth the up charge-- it is flavorful and melts in your mouth! I also like that you can pile on all the toppings your heart desires at no extra charge. I went in with my son and they have a cute kids combo option. My husband opted for a pita over a bowl and enjoyed it, I've turned him into a braised lamb lover as well. Parking is easy! It reminds me of Guasaca where there are base options (bowl, pita, salad) and you load them up with the offerings. The service is good but hard to tell if they're smiling or happy when they have to wear masks. The only thing you have to go on is their voice and body language. The food is good but it's hard to tell what really is the best of the mix since it's all in one bowl. So although they're serving Greek items, mixing it all in a bowl tends to take away the Greek dining experience. Regardless, it's all pretty tasty. At this writing, the dining room is closed but they do have a few outdoor tables with umbrellas. If you like your food mixed into a bowl, this place is really very good with their variety of items being offered. If you like a more traditional offering with individual items on a plate, maybe you could ask for a separate plate to take them out of the bowl. This location is AWFUL. The line is always a mile long no matter when you go. There is usually only 2-3 people working and no one is moving at a decent speed or has a smile on their face. I asked for extra of the toppings and I get a huff and an eye roll. Excuse me? I asked for the pita bread - HARD AS A ROCK. I threw it away. How is this acceptable. I also scanned my app QR code for points - asked to make sure it worked - the cashier responds "I don't know if it works or not - take your receipt and call" Absolutely AWFUL service, workers and quality of food. Been craving this place since I left as the food is fresh and there are so many options! I got their rice right bowl with chicken and tons of veggies, hummus, and feta. When I say it was good, it was so good it was so good! I discovered Cava in Dallas and finally got to try it in Raleigh and I am so glad. It is literally the Chipotle of Mediterranean and there are so many options. I love that they allow you to top it with all those options and even if you get an exact bowl they allow you to customize it with toppings and sides.
