Not great for vegetarian/vegans. Their hummus, pita chips and juice selections are great, but if you need a meatless meal, youre better off driving the extra 2mi to Mezza. For starters, the falafels have the texture of a bean burger (mushy). And the other bowl ingredients are average, at best. I first tried this location when they first opened a few years ago. A few friends had been excited about the opening, so I excused this as a consequence of being late on a weekend with slow traffic. But since then, I've been to other locations at various times/dining means, and had the same food experience. Plus it occurred to me that the positive reviews were from omnivores and, unfortunately, the falafels are the primary vegetarian protein option. So I can only conclude that this is the company standard. In fact, this review is actually a self reminder NOT to patronize or recommend CAVA again (except maybe the packaged hummus. That stuff slaps - no cap). The employees are pleasant, but not even their customer service can make up for the disappointing food. Especially when I can find much more successful falafels elsewhere (including in my home). I strongly suggest that the product development team reconfigure the falafel recipe to use soaked chickpeas instead of the cooked chickpeas that they currently using. Additionally, please consider adding marinated plant protein (ex. tofu, TVP, tempeh, seitan, etc.) to the menu. Many people claim that the marinade used for the grilled meat is outstanding. Perhaps availing those flavors to your vegetarian customers could result in a positive experience all around. read more

Cava in Columbia Heights is my favorite location! The food is so delicious, you can order ahead of time and pick up when you arrive, it's nutritious and full of flavor. I'm there at least 1-2 times a week. The staff at the cohi location are the best, especially Elmer! He knows me by name, is super friendly and always knows my order. He's the best! read more

Really really good! This is one of my favorite places for lunch. I usually get the greens and grains bowl with the beef meatballs, yum! CAVA's food has always tasted fresh and delicious. I started visiting this chain when it was still only in DC and loved when they started expanding. Unfortunately as they have expanded prices have gone up and quality, quantity has gone down. Don't get me wrong, the food is a still tasty. However I expect more than and handful of spinach and half a spoon of rice for a $14 salad. I hope they find the balance between value and profits at some point. read more

It genuinely makes me said that, when I visit the west coast, I don't get to enjoy cava like I do here. I'm also morally torn; on the one hand, I feel bad for the poor souls that don't get to taste your delicious food. CAVA! Cava is a consistently delicious and healthy fast-casual experience that I can't get enough of-- while there are plenty of meat options here, as a vegetarian I really enjoy it. I typically get a bowl with super greens, which gets the greens in without feeling too salad-y, a nice crunch with the raw brussels! In addition to the fresh and often locally-sourced ingredients, the spreads and dressings at Cava make it a go-to spot. If you like spice, get at least one scoop of there red harissa spread! I also recommend their green harissa dressing. When I visit this location, it's typically in the evenings, and I've always moved through the line quickly (or no line). Good service and clean, but it's the yummy food and having a place that makes both my veg and non-veg friends happy that keeps me coming back read more

I looovvveee CAVA. All the flavors blend perfectly into the most deliciousness ever! This is the first time I was disappointed in my greens and grains bowl. I ordered online and asked for an extra scoop of onions. Why does it look like they dumped the onions in my bowl? I spent the better part of 5 minutes pulling all the extra onions out. For at least 3 weeks, the soft drink machine has been out of diet cola. There is no sign and they do not warn you, and the only way you can tell, is by the weak colored liquid that comes out. But the kicker is, when asked why there is no sign warning you that it's not available, they say it's because they don't want to get complaints ! When, according to them, it's really the fault of their supplier. What ridiculous thinking! Well, that guaranteed my complaint. I couldn't care less about their supplier problem! As a customer, I simply want to know what's available and what's not available BEFORE I purchase, not after. read more

I frequent the Kingstowne's Cava quite frequently and I just wanted to take time and highlight exceptional customer service provided at this location. I've been to other Cava restaurants and in my opinion this is the best one in the area. The food is always fresh and restaurant is always clean. There are two team members that stand out, and they Gian and Meron. They are both always professional and pleasant. Out of all of the staff, they are my two favorites by far. Love this place! Fast casual in the style of a Chipotle, but sooooo much better. A lot healthier, too. They offer a variety of meats (chicken, steak, meatball), and they are generous with their servings. Haven't quite figured out the optimal combination of ingredients, but I get closer every time. If I could give zero stars I would, to start of the customer service was awful I mean there wasn't any greeting they wouldn't even look a you while ordering, the grill and oven looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time it was extremely dirty and not just that but around the area where they keep the salads, and proteins. Just from looking at their chicken I can tell that they haven't actually changed them out for fresh chicken. Me and my friend are almost done getting our food but they can't find the garlic sauce even tho it was right in front of them; we later got our food after a long time and it was already really cold. I tried to talk to management wouldn't budge, after I tried my best to at least eat half the food I couldn't and instead left going home throwing up 3 times. I now had to go to the hospital because I got food poisoning from CAVA. NEVER eating here again I don't understand how they are still open, from horrible service to horrible food. read more

Always get a greens and grain bowl, but I rotate between the grilled chicken and the grilled meatballs because they're both so tasty. Sometimes I even go nuts and get half and half. I love mobile ordering - Cava is a little hit or miss there. Cava is incredible! The food here is so fresh and so delicious. I always get a chicken bowl with rice and lots and lots of Harissa! I love the variety of toppings and sauces. This Cava location has been going downhill for quite some time. I have had my order incorrect 3 times in a row, once in person and twice ordering delivery through UberEats. They have left out my pita, brownies and once gave us bowls with no chicken even though we paid for these items. Tried to call the store but the number just takes you to a corporate line. The portion sizes have also been noticeably smaller and the new pitas they are using are not good. The old pitas were soft and delicious and the pita chips were awesome. Now both items are sub par. I will be staying away from Cava because it has been a waste of money lately and the quality has gone down. The only reason this isnt a 1 star review is the staff, they are always nice and courteous. I struggled with whether to give this review 2 or 3 stars. I wouldn't probably did 2.5 if I could. I'm a huge Cava fan, so I was excited when the Kingstowne location opened as I live just up the road. Today was my first time coming in. Unfortunately, the standard does not live up to my experience from other locations. First, the portion size is starkly different. The bed of lettuce I got honestly looked like one hand full. I would say other locations you get plenty of greens. The lentils looked dry, maybe either old or over cooked. And the chicken was was really wet and there were prices of fat and gristle mixed in. There were several pieces I had to pull out my mouth as I was chewing. Facilities were clean and modern as you would expect and the cashier was friendly, still, moving forward I don't know if I'd come back to this location. read more

I am convinced there is something wrong with the local labor pool in the Kingstowne area. It seems that businesses that are consistently good elsewhere, when they land in Kingstowne it is a different story and Cava, unfortunately, is no exception. The Good: the flavors of the meals I have ordered (3 times so far) have consistent been good like the other locations I have frequented. I had an issue with one of my orders and I appreciated how the manager dealt with the situation. The Bad: The portion sizes are all over the place. Twice my meals have come in bowls half empty versus when I order at other Cava locations. Cava is not cheap for a "fast" food place, I just don't understand how hard it is to be consistent in your serving sizes. Especially when people pay extra for something. Cava will do well because whole Baytna and Shwarma guys are close, I think the flavors of Cava are better. But if they don't do better standardizing their orders, they will lose alot of business...including mine. read more

Cava is usually pretty good and filling. The way that the customers can make their own creations is really appealing to me. The last couple of times that I have been to cava they have let me down. My food was cold and tasted stale. I was very surprised and disappointed that it ended up like that after saying cava was one of my favorite places to eat. The food is the best but what impresses me the most is the way the staff carries towards the customer I highly recommend this place if I could you give them 10 stars instead of five I would. CAVA is enjoying quite a peak in popularity right now. Will it maintain its current trendy fandom? No, I don't think so. But, will it be one of the fast-casual franchises that will most likely survive into the next restaurant/food trend? Yeah, I think so. This CAVA is essentially the same as the one I've been to in McLean, so, as a franchise, consistency seems to be maintained. FOOD-wise, you pick your base, such as greens (many selections! I usually go for this, with spinach), grains, a pita... Go down the line and select your protein (or veggies!), sauce and other fixin's. Primarily Mediterranean-themed with a clear awareness of what's popular at the moment-- think cauliflower, quinoa, etc. Drinks are fun and unique. I usually get a turmeric lemonade type of deal. I like that you can use their site and specifically calculate the nutritional value of your meal, down to each little topping. PRICING is a bit inflated, you are talking about a place capitalizing on food trends and catering to the instagram-posting milennials, so. y'know. I think the food is worth-- on average-- about $2 less than what they charge. My usual partner in crime commented that he goes to other (less trendy) Mediterranean spots and will get more food for a lower price, and usually with a complementary side, such as pita. Again, you're talking about a fast-casual trending franchise. Such things are not to be found here. SEATING is always plentiful. I think I came here once during primetime lunch rush and there was nowhere available to sit, but that was just one time. read more

This place is great. They usually have 6 meats to choose from several types of greens and rice. I usually get the braised lamb but we have also had the chicken, spicy lamb meatballs and like all. The only suggestion I would make is any diet soda option. They have unsweet black tea and lightly sweetened green tea. I like these but my other half wants a soda. Maybe you can make a more diet soda with no sugar added juices and soda water. Still keep the organic theme. read more
