Toasted S'mores Iced Latte
Aubrey L.

As a frequent coffee house guest, this is by far one of my favorites. I've been going to Cause ever since it first opened and I have enjoyed it every single time. The environment is amazing and everything inside is so put together. The coffee and all there seasonal flavors always brighten my day! They also have the nicest staff!

This place is still just as amazing as my last visit! I got the honey lavender latte because that's my new favorite in general and it did not disappoint! $6 and some change is a little hefty but I think a percentage might go to charities? The place inside is so so so cute! The front porch could use some dusting of cobwebs and some painting but I still love it and it reminds me of my childhood porch swing. The barista was super nice as well.

Excellent service, great coffee, and the food is amazing! I've had the yogurt bowl each time I've visited and it's always delicious!

This was our first time trying Cause Coffee and it was amazing! The barista provided suggestions and they were good! The atmosphere is relaxing and this is the perfect place to meet up with a friend or study all day. I highly recommend and will be coming back soon!

The coffee here is delicious! Try the salted brown sugar latte! Enjoy a cozy atmosphere with a crackling fire, natural wood accents, and lush greenery.

A treasure of downtown Desoto.

Cause Coffee seems like a place you'd find on a college campus, or maybe in a location that had lots of foot traffic, but it's sitting right on the west end of the downtown strip of Desoto. Seems about right for small-ish town Kansas... An old residence sits at the confluence of 83rd & Peoria sporting a shaded, classic porch. Tables are sprinkled on said porch in front and go nicely with a bench swing (take that, corporate kaffhausses!) so you can enjoy your beverage or pastry as the traffic rolls by slowly. Flowers are in pots, well-cared for and coordinated in color and theme. Sounds like a run-of-the-mill place, no? That would a big 'no'. Cause Coffee is one of the most unique, welcoming, and thoroughly enjoyable places in the area, regardless of specialty. Artisan coffee drinks, great roasts (Messenger was the bean of choice today), and an array of breakfast-y goods and panini-style sandwiches populate a relatively simple but robust menu. Tara, the concept creator and owner, was working the front and offering up suggestions for the dark roast brave (me) and sweetened beverage types (the kiddos). I *love* seeing the heart and soul of small businesses mixed right in with the hustle and flow of their life's passion! Cause is making an impact in so many ways without making an impact in others. They compost. They donate leftovers. They use non-impacting foodstuffs and cleaning products. They recycle. And they do the whole effort as a means to donate their profits to worthwhile causes both locally and internationally. When was the last time you dined/ordered from a non-profit establishment? Go ahead, think on that. I'll wait. While you're thinking, I will relay that their current target for benefit is the Kansas City School for the Blind. Having been a volunteer reader for the KU Audio Reader for several years, I can tell you that this is an enormously worthy cause and I love contributing to a small enterprise looking to enact big change. There is ample space to spread out, the coffee is outstanding, the staff and service are as welcoming and knowledgeable as you could imagine, and the concept is special. You aren't breaking any wallets with prices, but your face may break out into a contented smile at Cause.

Cause has always been a favorite of mine. It is in the cutest white house with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors! They are always so incredibly nice and willing to help you figure out what to order. And don't get me started on their coffee.. best lattes in KC! I love going to coffee shops but Cause will always be my favorite!

Beautiful, bright and busy are the words that come to mind when I stepped inside Cause Coffee. I've been meaning to visit this place for sometime and made the trip today. It's located in a remodeled house in downtown De Soto with seating inside and out. Walking in, I was amazed at how crowded it was for a Wednesday morning. Almost every table was full! I ended up snagging one of the last tables. Soon after, my order was ready. I ended up getting a vanilla latte and a blueberry scone (warmed up) for breakfast! Both were delicious! Overall, I was very impressed and will definitely be back. A must visit if your in the area or just want to make the trip to De Soto.

Can't remember the exact name of this sandwich, but they only serve it on Fridays and Saturdays and it was so tasty.

This is easily my favorite coffee shop that I've ever been to. The environment is so welcoming and cozy. It genuinely feels like you're sitting in a friend's home. All of the staff were friendly and pleasant to converse with. The lattes are the best I've ever had and the sandwich that I got was incredible. I read up on their mission while enjoying my latte and breakfast and was thrilled to hear that they donate all of their profits to charity. I'll be coming here again and again and this will be my go-to spot to bring friends and family when they visit from out of town.

Local, nonprofit, good coffee, great opportunity to help, wonderful small town vibe, ambiance to spare!

I love Cause coffee. If you're expecting Starbucks, you're in the wrong place. It is refreshing to be treated like family in this overly consumerist coffee industry. Moreover, they aren't rookies, they pull great shots and make great shakes. Even the lattes are shaken by hand in a drink mixer! Lots of seating - inside and out. Easy parking. Clean bathrooms. Great snacks. Slow down and have a conversation at the register. You'll enjoy your coffee and day more.

They have baked goods and breakfast from Scratch Bakery as well. They have other baked options, I'm not sure where from like the quiche. I ordered the Mermaid coffee. There's no shortage of places to get a cup of coffee, or a coffee beverage, in JoCo. But there are…read moresome that stand out and Pour Coffeehouse might lead that pack. Pour is way out in the southwest stretches of the metro but anchors a fairly busy strip center. The space inside is homey and not enormous, but there are plenty of spots to enjoy. The house brew is strong and always fresh and their breakfast burrito game is seriously on point. The beverage menu is fairly standard, from latte through seasonal offerings, and each drink is handcrafted to your wishes. The food menu is not extensive, but what they do, they do really well. There are a couple of sandwiches on the menu and their aforementioned breakfast burritos are outstanding. Pour offers several varieties and packs alllll the freshness and flavor inside those tortillas. You could even pair one up with one of their baked goodies and you're in for a treat. Hint: try a handmade Pop-tart. Parking is super easy, pricing is pretty fair, and the service is local & friendly. Their outside seating is unexpectedly cool as the strip center isn't exactly made for a patio, but Pour placed several tables on the front sidewalk and around the side in the shade for a nice touch. It can get busy, because there's not a lot of competition and demand is high, so be sure to be cognizant of when the high school gets out. Sample & enjoy!

Live in the area so we try to support local. Not sure we'll be back here again…read more Writing this a "3" instead of a "1" because this complaint isn't fully the owners fault. We were in yesterday (Sat around 8:15 AM). The girl working the order register was a snot from the get go. I find it hard to believe that other customers didnt have complaints about her either. We attempted to order food which she rang up nit than said we don't have biscuits and gravy so you can't have that or the savory crepe with gravy. Ok but you rang it up, didn't ask anyone so how's then did you know you didnt have two of the six things you have on the menu? We then ordered house coffee which she then began writing our name on plastic drink cups. When we told her, those are regular coffees right? She said no your ordered iced. My girlfriend said NO, I ordered coffee and I said, "I'll have a coffee too". I never said iced ether and she threw a fit. We said you know what, make it 2 Togo coffees. She gave my girlfriend that leaked the entire time and the bottom of the cup was saturated like it was going to fall apart anytime. She has no business being in a customer service role. Not sure what her issue was. Was it we weren't regulars? Because if so, as a small business-good luck growing your business catering only to your 20-30 regulars. I will say, it was a solid cup of coffee though.
