What a let down. I drive limousine, and take guests here frequently. Been hearing the average getting less and less, but decided to try for myself for my birthday. Came in at 9pm, and it's now 11pm, and we're leaving. Still waiting on corrections to be made to our bill. Promo wasn't credited, crab was over cooked, onion appetizer "tumbleweed," was good, beer was warm, steak was "okay," sides and veggies were "okay" as well. Overall, just not impressed for a steakhouse, and disappointed when we got the $200 bill for 4 adults and 2 kids. Not to mention, they knew our obvious disappointment with the lack of quality to our meal, and the service wasn't even okay. Had to do our homework and bug some people to get the rest of our food we ordered, including my mothers tacos. They came so late we just took them to go. No bueno. :( read more

The "Pete's Special" is the most consistent meal there. They do sirloin right, period. We've been eating at Cattlemens since they built the restaurant in 1981. read more

There was a hair in my food it was horrible. It literally jumped to me and asked me how I was doing. I didn't really like the waitress either she had a very " I don't really give a fuck about you, but I'll be nice because you're a paying customer" attitude. so mehhh. The manager was very nice, he took the item off my bill ( we didn't even finish half because of the hair) but it was handled correctly. I probably won't come back, if I do I WILL NOT get ribs. read more

This has been our go-to place to get a good steak and some good seafood. We have never been disappointed. We had a party of 16 which I would say was very well accommodated by the staff. Our server Josh, did an excellent job getting all the orders straight, getting all the drinks to us, and taking care of our requests. My favorite dish is the grilled shrimp which I order 100% of the time, but I made a mistake to order the mushroom ravioli. Ravioli is a favorite dish of mine, but not at Cattlemen's. I was sorry I ordered it and couldn't even finish the dish. Not only did the ravioli taste old, the presentation was embarrassing. What tasted like canned tomato sauce was splattered all over the plate, no seasonings and the raviolis were stuck together. My husband said I bet you'll never do that again, and he is right. Not a good idea to order pasta at a steak restaurant. Generally I will send a dish back if I'm not happy with it but we were celebrating a birthday and I was embarrassed to do so. We will go back to Cattlemen's of course, but I will stick to the shrimp, forget the ravioli. read more

Used to love this place, but not the same anymore. Food is ok, not wowed by anything. Always out of prime rib when we have tried to go. Also had a group reservation and they squeezed us in like sardines with another party when the whole restaurant was empty. Disappointing and will not be booking parties there again. read more

They have the most amazing brisket. But you better hurry because they run out early!!!

Came into town for business, found this hidden jewel by accident. Great spot, great service! Thank you for the great dinner!

My daughter, son-in-law, and I just had dinner at Cattlemen's Steakhouse in Selma, CA. We're giving them a 5 star rating for perfectly cooked steaks, huge portions of food, and fantastic service. Our waiter, Justin, made our eating experience fun and enjoyable. He was very attentive and made great suggestions. We can't wait to come back! read more

Always come here for a good steak when I don't feel like doing it myself. Great food, good atmosphere great staff.

I called and made reservations for 7 plus one high chair. We arrived at 3:30 pm and they brought us to a table. I asked if we could have another table because we wanted a little more room not to be elbow to elbow. We were told to hold on the guy came back with a hostess and we were told they could not put the tables together. So I said ok well what about one of the booths right here (the restaurant was pretty empty) we were told no someone reserved that table this is the only table you can have. I asked how do you specifically reserve a table and they said you have to do it online. We sit down and eat the food was really good. At 5:30pm still all the tables were empty. So we went online to see if you could reserve a certain table guess what you cant. I asked to speak with management a lady came over and I told her I was lied to about the whole situation and she kept telling me I wasn't lied to but if I asked for her next time she would sit me where ever. I don't think I will ever be back. Oh FYI my bill was $331 and I paid it before I asked for management for whoever might think I just wanted a break I had pre paid. read more

Always overcrowded, even with reservations you don't get to your table until after waiting for about 30 minutes or more. Food is bland, well done, my steak looked as though it was placed on the grill and then flipped once and brought out to me. Haven't been back in over a year and I don't plan on going back. read more

This is my new favorite steakhouse! Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Our waiter was the best one I've ever had. He recommended certain things but didn't try to sell us anything. We got the Cattlemen's 40th anniversary dinner for two, which was only $60 and came with an appetizer and dessert. My boyfriend ordered the 14oz ribeye and I got a 9oz sirloin with scrimp scampi. Most restaurants only offer baked potato, mashed potato, or fries. However, Cattlemen's offers baked, mashed, twice baked, baked sweet potato, and french fries! Everything was wonderful... read more

Ifs for a steak your coming to the wrong place. I recommend you go somewhere else. However there bacon wrapped shrimp and sour dough breed is good. The honey chipotle sauce is good as well. The quality of the steaks is junk. This place is for a good Monday night football spot and just drink some beers and enjoy some platters. As far as steak no!! read more

Over the years Cattlemens kind of tapered off and slid down hill when it came to quality and service. Fortunately some time within the past couple of years they made some major improvements when it comes to wait staff and most of all, the quality of food. My girlfriend and I have dined here a few times in the past few months and it seems to get better with each visit. You no longer get the feeling that its some border brother in the kitchen throwing frozen food into a fryer, microwave, or pot of boiling water (a couple of years ago my friend's chicken breast was still frozen in the center). The service has been excellent and the food has been just as great! For the price, I don't think there's another place within a 20 mile radius that can match it. My favorite is the 2 lb porterhouse (it's in my profile pic) which comes out cooked to my order (medium rare) every time. The flavor is good, the tenderness is there, and for around $30 I feel very confident I'm getting my moneys worth. The bar is nice, great drink selection and great specials - Service has been wonderful in both the bar area as well as in the dining room. It's not a 5 star high end restaurant but it is definitely a nice, very clean, steakhouse with a pleasant atmosphere, a great variety on the menu, and just an overall great place to grab a good steak and have a few drinks. well worth the money and the drive in my opinion! read more

Very very bad service we were told waiting time was 15 minutes which is not bad it's actually fast but we ended up waiting like 30 minutes and the girl in front desk still said it was only 14 minutes we had barely waited which was a lie. As far as the food goes it was awesome. read more

The rack of Lamb is superb! I always order it when I go and it's absolutely amazing every time!

Some of the best service i've ever received at a restaurant. I walked in on a Monday night and it was busy. Since I was traveling on business, I just wanted a good steak, glass of wine, and some quiet space to enjoy them. My waitress came over within two minutes and took my drink order. Another girl from the bar brought a glass of wine to me. My waitress came back within a couple of minutes and took my dinner order. Brought a bowl of fresh salad and dressing. Salad was fresh and had plenty of cucumbers and tomatoes. (When I finished it off quickly my waitress brought me another bowl.) The steak I ordered was cooked perfectly. It was an excellent meal after a long day. I'm sorry I did not catch the waitress's name, but i'll be back the next time i'm in the area. read more

I went on a Thursday evening around 6:00 PM. We (3 of us) had to wait about half an hour to be seated. Once we were seated, the rest of the service was good. The food was well seasoned (two of us ordered a rib eye steak and the third in our party ordered a rack of beef ribs). The ribs were piled up high! We didn't leave there hungry. read more

Just went last night, wasn't that busy yet our appetizer took 45 min. Ignacio the GM went from table to table in the bar asking who the app belonged to by that time we did not want it. He seemed to take offence to this and walked away. When we finally get our Ribs, Lobster and steaks that were MEDIUM everything was cold to the touch so then I proceed to ask Ignacio to please touch my steak and he then states he knows it's cold and that they're working on new food??? So i ask, Why he would send out cold food and he had no answer totally unprofessional with a smug look the whole time. He clearly does not belong there for he has no hospitality skills and was very unprofessional. Drove 30min for scrappy service. read more

While seeing that other options were closed due to it being New Year's Day..we decided to give Cattlemans a try...a restaurant we always pass while driving on the 99 and never have time to stop..so I called ahead to see if reservations were needed and how long a wait would be.. the receptionist said there was a 20 min wait so I asked if putting my name for a party of 2 on the waiting list was an option, and it was...unfortunately I'm assuming my gps glitched or paused while I was on the phone allowing me to think we WERE 20 min but as we got close gps said we would be 10 min late so sorry for the lateness BUT when we arrived I got a hint of attitude and odd looks from the receptionist like it affected her personally she then said it would be at least 15-20 min for a table. There were 3 larger parties of 4 -5 people waiting also...obviously there's a big number difference between them and us but made it seem like seating us was an inconvenience. We then waited until every other party was seated- not to mention that about 6 party's left while we waited..a little irritated but I'll take it seeing we were "10"min later then expected. BUT THEN- she goes to seat us And guess what?! There was a entire -ENTIRE SECTION of the restaurant where we were being seated completely empty...not to mention that out of every empty table she sat us purposely at the booth against the bus station!!! So while we were rudely greeted made to wait longer for no reason and then sat at the shit table to pay for a $150 dinner... my boyfriend had to eat with dishes being thrown and banged against his back...the waitress was semi rude from when we were seated up until the steaks came out and we informed her that this was our first visit...her face then lit up with what was partial enthusiasm for the fast the we were first timers..she then engaged a little bit more friendliness but her service was vague and limited.. I continued to stack and place used and unwanted dishes glasses and salad used dressing dishes on the edge hoping she would get the hint we were finished with them but when she did come for them she would only take half the dirty dishes and leave the rest...smh I really don't understand the value of service Cattleman's obtains in their employees but if this is it-I will never come back. AFTER all the disappointment in service and hospitality I can say that the food was really good! I like the whole salad in a bowl for everyone thing and the steak was awesome!!! (Management needs to evaluate their staffs attitudes facial expressions and the fact that they like to stare and whisper until you make eye contact so they most obviously jump and turn from being caught gossiping(a nice way to say) about seeing a black man walk in with a white woman. YES I caught her and she looked very uncomfortable and couldn't look up or make eye contact after. Doesn't bother me but it is extremely rude and racist. Food was definitely a 5 star but because of everything else I'm giving them a 1 read more

Absolutely amazing from start to finish! Friendly service, attentive, prompt. First time there. Dominic our service was very Friendly and polite. Ordered the Pete's special. Cooked perfectly. I might have opted for 4 stars but there were a few things I was not happy with, 1) my steak was dry, it was at least flavorful but dry. 2) the steamed veggies were nothing but onions, carrots and a couple of broccoli pieces. 3) my Jameson & Coke was all Coke but I was charged for a straight Jameson. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

I was traveling from Tracey CA to visit some friends and families in Fresno CA. We decided to have diner at this restaurant, that my friends and I wanted to try since we heard its good place to eat. My visit to the restaurant was perfect! I really enjoyed the atmosphere. We were welcome by Jess G, which took the time to answer all of our questions. She was very sweet and polite However, Jess was beyond incredible being quick with our orders and keeping up with us. Jess recommend me to try the New York Steaks since I was indecisive. The steaks came out amazing and I took another order for the road. I and my friends were completely satisfied. Also Jess had help from Jovany and he was also incredible being polite, fast with out refreshments. I plan to come back when I visit Fresno again. Thank you Jess G!! read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I had heard good things about the restaurant years ago, so I decided to take my mom for her birthday. This place was a HUGE let down. I cannot recommend it. In fact, I recommend you save your money and dine elsewhere. It is a shabby, overpriced restaurant that seems to be cutting corners to save money. The food is overpriced for what you get and the restaurant Is run down. It is 50 years old and it shows. My critiques: 1) The portions were shockingly small. The plates were half empty! My sister ordered shrimp scampi and she received 5 small shrimp swimming in sauce. My dad's steak look like it had been cut in half. He ordered exactly the same steak mom ordered only his was half the size. 2) The food was bland. All of it, including the beans, which they served us in a small bowl--1 portion for all four of us. 3) The coffee was cold. How do you mess that up? 4) They were out of half the deserts. 5) The service was mediocre. No water refills, no bread refills, and no care. 6) They were packing people in like sardines. We were seated 3 feet away from a group of 15 people. That is not compliant with COVID-19 rules. Not to mention that the cost was way out of line for a meal you could get at a Tahoe Joes for less. I really wanted to enjoy this iconic place. Sadly, it has become a high-priced Applebees. $190 for 4 people. I would gladly pay that and more for good food, great service and nice ambiance. What happened, Cattlemen's? You had such a good reputation. Even the seats we sat in were torn. Our booth had a rip that was a foot long. My parents' seats also had a gash as if someone had slashed the booth with a steak knife. Maybe whoever did that had a bad experience, too. If you want a great experience do not dine here, read more

Simply put....5 stars. Cattleman's Restaurant has everything you are looking for in a classic steakhouse, from your go to cuts of filet mignon/sirloin and lots of prime rib choices all the way to what I had...the 20 oz bone in ribeye. It was simply fantastic. They source their beef from Harris Ranch so that's another plus. Their twice baked potato was absolutely phenomenal. But what really stole the show in my eyes was their baby back ribs! It was truly a fall-off-the bone masterpiece. We also got the roasted artichoke and that was impeccably done. Their ranch style beans are another amazing add to a great meal. They also have fantastic cocktails. I started with an amazing homemade Bloody Mary. They provide oversized beer steins for whatever they offer on tap and also have delicious homemade Micheladas. We brought in a bottle of wine and there corking fee was only $10. Here's what makes the night even better...their service was spot on. We had a young man named Nicholas who took care of us the entire night and really made us feel at home. Him and the rest of the staff from the hostesses up front, to the bartenders, to the chefs in the back of the house combined into a GREAT overall first experience at Cattleman's. I have discovered my new favorite restaurant in the Central Valley and will absolutely recommend to friends and family. Once again a special shout out to Nicholas for such a welcoming and attentive experience and also I want to acknowledge Michelle who was so warm and inviting to us in the bar area. Overall, the restaurant embodies the spirit of a classic Texas steakhouse with the same hospitality. A must visit. read more

We enjoy eating here. I really love the bread and salad...And my favorite thing to eat here is not steak but the bacon wrapped shrimp. The only steak that I liked here was the porterhouse, or rib eye. But the steak prices are pretty high...For me and my husband and my 4 year old to eat here we usually spend anywhere from 40 to 60 dollars depending if we order drinks or appetizers. Overall we like it but its not the best steak house we've been to. read more

I've only dined here once but I'm a lover of food and recognize excellence when i see it. I ordered the salmon because I'm not a beef person and it was simply superb. The portion was generous and it was cooked to perfection. I also got the sweet potato with honey walnut butter and it was to die for. My husband got the ribeye and said it was cooked perfectly. He ate every bite. For the table we also ordered: the spinach artichoke dip: very good and worth ordering again; shrimp cocktail: a bit fishy for shrimp and overpriced, wouldn't order again; and the sampler platter: amazing chicken strips, seasoned fries and fried onions--worth every penny for that alone--the other stuff was just a bonus. For dessert we had the cheesecake. The portion wad huge so my husband and I shared one and took the second home. The service left something to be desired. It took 20+ minutes and several reminders to get a drink refill and our server forgot the beans until he was reminded after the meal was half over. Not even a week later and I'm planning my trip back here for my birthday so all in all it did not disappoint. read more

My son took me here for my birthday and it was amazing! Food was cooked perfectly and service was awesome! Will definitely be back!

Came here for dinner on Easter with a party of 5 and although the restaurant wasn't crowded, got placed at a table designed for 4. Service was slow and some of the food arrived late and cold. Steaks and prime rib were tasty but on the fatty side. This would probably be a 2 star review but giving an extra star considering it was Easter and likely short staffed due to the holiday. read more

This is supposedly the best in the West. I ordered the 16 oz prime rib came out looking like 8 oz it had zero flavor and the entire outside around was dry like it was sitting under a heat lamp. The waitress was nice but only came around once maybe twice. So far I have visited the two supposedly best restaurants in Central Valley and they were both terrible. Thank goodness that in 7 months I will be on my way back to east coast where I can get sweat tea and great food. Two thumbs down says campbell and campbell. read more

My new favorite steak house! The steaks are cooked to perfection and are very flavorful. I recommend you get sautéed mushrooms and grilled onions on top of your steak. It makes it even more flavorful. I also got the bacon wrapped shrimp which was also very delicious. For dessert i ordered a cheesecake. It was so rich and creamy. The waitress was also very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that I said that we were celebrating my new job, when we made the reservations but did not receive any complimentary dessert. Maybe its just for birthdays? Either way the food was delicious! I will be back! read more
