So the first time I came here it was an extremely long wait but this time was fairly quick! The taco salad is so bomb! I got it with shrimp. The only thing is the prices are ridiculously high. And the ceviche last time I visited was disgusting and I threw it away. 10$ for it but I wasn't that mad. I love the atmosphere here. Nice servers as well

When I first pulled up with my friends I was a little skeptical. But as they say don't judge a book by its cover. Staff was friendly, place had plenary of space, very clean and food was amazing! Divorced Eggs are highly recommended! Will definitely go back next time I'm up in the Selma area. read more

I'm guessing things have changed since the one star reviews because this place is on point!! Ordered a chili verde omelette Spanish potatoes with beans holy moly! Not sure how they did it but the potatoes had insanely good taste to them hard to explain but they had a really strong potato taste I know sounds weird but dang! They were so good the chili verde was amazing the taste was perfect super tender eggs were perfectly cooked and the beans OMG!! Perfection some of the best beans I've had in forever! The waitress was seriously on point the tea was never below half way down and it was getting topped off don't let the plain Jainish look of the place detour you from the fact that the food is gonna be amazing! Will definitely come back here again when I'm back in this area! (Sorry didn't post any pics just dug in as soon as she set the plates down it smelled amazing!!) lol read more

Been here a couple of times, great both times. Had the prepared oysters, fish taco, ceviche mixta. Great waitress. Only thing I would improve are the tortilla chips they serve with the salsa when you sit down. Coming back, again! read more

Excellent breakfast burritos!!! Amazing staff!!! I Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! We stopped by here on our way out of town and I can tell you we will be returning! We've had the coktel combinado, burrito de asada, burrito ahogado de chile verde, coktel de camarón, Mexican combo de enchiladas de queso, and the pescado entero (snapper). Everything has been delicious. All the plates have been to-go. My parents had always raved about this place and it has become one of my favorites as well. Can't wait to dine in the restaurant. read more

If I could give this place a zero. I would. Where do we start. Days old chiles rellenos, burnt edges. Enchiladas with canned sauce. Flavorless aguachiles. Can I mention everything was microwaved. The flavor, horrid. To call themselves a Mexican restaurant. Embarrassing. I would even change my name. This is no where near anything at Rosarito. This is like taco bell quality. Man, even taco bell is more Mexican then this, and taco bell is not Mexican lol. read more

Looks can be deceiving. This restaurant is truly delicious, authentic, and affordable. I am so glad we stopped in Selma and found this perfect little "hole in the wall" restaurant. My family and I are already planning our return. This will definitely be one of our favorite stops on our way to Fresno. read more

Best Mexican food in Selma! They're reasonably priced too. Living nearby, we've had the privilege of trying out a good chunk of the menu. Love the shrimp cocktail, they load it with so much shrimp. Tried this place today. I had the Camarones a la Diabla plate with rice and beans . Expected spicy, which was not but still very good. Waitress was very nice and always came by to see if we were ok. I think I will try more on their menu and definitely go back . read more

I was passing by on my way home and was craving some seafood with this crazy heat. I ordered half a dozen oysters, a shrimp taco and a super shrimp cocktail. For the oysters, they have an off taste and I had to cover them in lemon and tapatio to make them bearable. Now for the taco, that was really good. Nothing special though. Just really good. My shrimp cocktail was on point; however they used the small shrimps and should look into using the larger ones. 3.8/5 read more

From the outside you go.. hmmm.. not so sure.. but following all the reviews we took the chance.. so glad we did. Upon entering you feel how clean it is & how bright it is!! Even how clean it smells. The owners & serviced greet you politely & allow you to seat yourselves. They have daily specials. My husband had the 2 Enchiladas (shredded beef) with rice & beans. Very authentic ' $6.95.. I had an awesome & huge !!! Shrimp Cocktail. The liquid gold that it was in the glass was filled with fresh cilantro.. if you like cilantro it's great. The salsa & chips aren't bad either. Not bad. It's very hood. This place has the clientele that you would probably see in good the bad and the ugly from Clint Eastwood movie. If you don't want to deal with annoying drunks and hearing the constant "hey shhh, hey shhh" then your good. The food isn't bad. This for a single person not family oriented. You don't want to take your wife and EL GUAPO from three amigos take her from you. Lol. On a serious note try it out and see for yourself. read more

Next thing, where to go. Selma has many iconic restaurants -Sal's, Rosalinda, Antonio's. But I had never heard of Rodolfo's. It came highly recommended by a few of us attending, so we gave it a go. One thing we had going for us is that we had a man on the inside who could hook it up. I was hoping it meant free food, but that wasn't the case. But we did get our own private room, so that was nice. Some recommendations were made, but I was split between the nopales, chile verde nachos, Rodolfo's special, Selma special and chile verde plate. In the end, I went with the namesake Rodolfo's special. I was told that the taco it came with, the Selma taco, was named such, because it won a taco competition in Selma. All the more reason to try it, right? Didn't have high expectations for the chile verde chicken enchiladas, but I like chile verde and enchiladas, so why not. Service was quick. In no time we were all served and chowing down. My plate was very hot and I could still hear the meat in my tacos sizzling, so I wisely started with the enchilada. The flavor was great, my only issue was the chicken, because it did chicken things that chicken does. But it was still good, don't get me wrong. After that, I waited on my taco to cool down. Yeah, it was that piping hot. It was good, but not great. I think it was the partially fried tortilla. It's something that they have to do though, given how loaded the taco is. A limp tortilla would not be up to the task. I know some people like some structure to their taco. I don't mind getting down and dirty. Personal preference. I have to say, the middling reviews had me a bit worried. Getting VIP service ensured that we were taken care of though. Side note experience that I didn't have. A friend felt like he got overcharged. $16.95 dinner plate with water and his bill came out to $24. He didn't want to make a thing about it. It wasn't that big a deal for him. But for others, it could be. All in all, we had a good time. Our server was nice. They gave the 9 of us our own private room. My buddy probably broke their door and they just laughed about it. Your experience may vary but this was mine.

So I call and let the food server know if that can be added to my order , just a 2oz side of green hot sauce , she said sure I'll add it to your order she didn't say a word after that but hung up no good bye nothing !!! So I brushed it off , ehh they might be busy so I thought . My niece picked up the order for me and dropped it off , I check inside my bag for my soup and chips I requested on the side cause I didn't want it to get soggy , and no green sauce in the bag So I called back and Jocelyn answers the phone . I tell her , hi I just placed an order and I specifically asked for "green sauce " her response "oooh it's not mmhhh, well I told the boy to put I in there " In a nice tone , I replied well it's not here , i know mistakes happen but I spoke to you and asked you for it . She replied , "well I didn't charge you for it" Okayyyy , so I replied well that's not the point , always double check your orders to go , she then Changed her tone and had an attitude and responded with "well it was FREE"! And hung up before I could even get another word in . I think she needs to be reevaluated, rude and careless to customers needs . I'll make sure to go inside and place an order next time perhaps .

Even now, whenever I have a reason to pass through town, I make it a point to stop by. The food has always been consistently delicious, with generous portions and flavors that keep me coming back year after year. What makes this place special, though, is that it's a true family-owned business with deep roots in the community. In a world where so many local restaurants have come and gone, it's great to see a place with so much history continue to thrive. Sal's is one of those restaurants that feels like a part of Selma itself. Great food, great people, and decades of memories. Highly recommended.
