Place is hit and miss historically. New manager was there last night. He seems great walking around checking staff. We sat in the bar. The food was top notch last night my steak was perfect. The drinks were all on point. The bar tender was amazing last night great attitude. He came out to our table before our sever even did. Only downside is the menu has shrunk I'm guessing do to covid like everywhere else. They don't have sampler app anymore. Drink menu seemed smaller too read more

Ambiance is good. Service is good. It's a bit crowded. The steak was overcooked. I wanted medium well pink. The potato wasn't cooked well enough. read more

Good food, staff is friendly. However, the last few times I've gotten take-out there have been mistakes every time. They are great and owning it and correcting it; however, my problem is that now my other meals are sitting in the car getting cold while they remake one of my meals. By the time I get home my steaks are to cold and stiff. During the peak of the pandemic we got take-out twice a week and the orders were always perfect. Not sure what happened once they reopened for dine-in. read more

Enjoyed a excellent dinner here. We arrived right at 4 PM when the restaurant opened and had a 30 minute wait. Steaks were phenomenal, shrimp wrapped in bacon was a great appetizer, And enjoyed amazing cocktails all for $100 for two people read more

This place is definitely in my top five but more like the top three. They are definitely a steakhouse. Our steaks were prepared exactly as ordered and cooked to perfection. Along with a complementary sourdough bread which was probably the best I ever had. read more

Dined at Cattlemens on 11/17/21 and it was not a good experience! We were given one chipped and one dirty salad bowl which we asked to be replaced. The salad that was a part of our meals was specifically ordered with no croutons, yet was served with them. When I pointed this out to our waiter, he apoligized and removed the salad serving bowl and tongs. After a wait he returned with the salad serving bowl without croutons but also without the tongs for us to serve it with. We finally used our forks to serve salad to ourselves. My wife is vegan and they do not have any vegan entrees so she ordered the sauteed button mushrooms, the mixed vegetables that turned out to be a small bowl of cauliflower, broccoli, 1 piece of purple onion, and one piece of red bell pepper steamed with no sauce and no seasoning at all. She also ordered roasted butternut squash. It had been seasoned with too much garlic and chilli pepper flakes containing crushed red pepper. The amount of this seasoning was overpowering and totally overwhelmed any taste of the squash. She was unable to eat it all as it was too highly seasoned! I ordered Pete's Special Steak that is supposed to be the founder's favorite, a 10 oz "succulent sirloin." I found the steak I was served fatty and had so much sinew in it that it was difficult to cut with a steak knife and difficult to chew. Part of this steak ended up back on the plate unable to be swallowed. Certainly not succulent in any way! Needless to say, we will not be eating at any of this chains restaurants again! read more

This is what they call a 16oz. Cattlemens Cut Prime Rib and think it's ok to charge you $36.99 for this puny little end-cut?! Plus a smashed twice baked potato?! Not cool. My wife loves ordering the chopper burger or what used to be a burger until it came with no fixings. I firmly believe to not bite the hand that feeds and kindly told the server it's no fault of his own what the kitchen had plated for us and kindly asked him for a bun and fixings for my wife and he quickly got it for her without hesitation. I told him I appreciated his efforts for the evening and tipped him well (hardworking servers deserve good tips) but this review is for the management of Cattlemens. Quality and pride in your work go hand in hand and if you lack either of the two...these are the results. I finish with this...a burger with no bun...is just meatloaf lol. read more

We have are here many times and tonight I had the worst meal I have ever had! Will probably never go back

This place used to be our families go to. The food has gone down hill so much it's a waste of money. Dined Monday and all the meat was dry. Steaks were basically jerky. Salmon was so burnt they poured teriyaki on it to mask it but the top layer of burned fish was all you could taste. Ribs were very over cooked, needed lots of bbq sauce to get it down, probably left over from the weekend. So sad how much quality they've lost. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

Ordered the steak and shrimp scampi and the steak was salty and over cooked. The worst was the scampi! It was boiled shrimp with garlic butter placed on top in a warm bowl. The dam butter wasn't even melted when brought to our table. DONT ORDER THE STEAK AND SHRIMP SCAMPI...it was gross! read more

Awesome prime rib, awesome onion strings, but beware, the strings are enough for 15 people, great salad. The restaurant is a little hard to find,we passed by it twice, before finding on the third try, we weren't going to be denied our beef. The restaurant sits way back off from the main rd. The service was awesome also. We will be going back. TW read more

Four stars instead of five only because there's ALWAYS room for improvement somewhere. the atmosphere is great, we were seated immediately, our drinks were prompt and cold, our food arrived quickly and the portions were - as always - huge. Last but certainly not least, Shannon, our waitress/server was spot on. very attentive, checking in on us frequently but not to the point of being intrusive. I will specifically request to be seated in her section next time we return. keep up tge good work!! read more

Wow!!!! What has happened.... Third time back in the last few months and the last... first two experiences vegetables were raw and not cooked... sent them back and same raw vegetables but maybe microwaved 30 seconds.... Now for tonight, tumbleweed came first and was weirdly burned and soaked with oil... couldn't even eat any, sent back and told would be out soon. Dinner plate came before and the fries were beyond limp and soggy. Tumbleweed on top of steak was raw and soggy.. ( catch the theme) then the steak salt ate a few bites and just gave up.... Talked to the manager offered some refires, got a small discount... used to love this place.... Another casualty of the pandemic... read more

We got take out and it was the best steak.. they never disappoint.. great portion Boneless Rib Eyes dinner

It's not the 30 minute wait for the table at all, it's the 45 minute wait to get drinks and appetizer. I spent 120 dollars here, never ever will I go back, I'm from Vegas so we know busy, this is bad management, our waiter kept saying "I'm sorry I just got back from break" I understand the need for a break, I'm a nurse of course I do, but this was ridiculous on so many levels. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

We ordered 10 oz filets anticipating being able to take some home as leftovers--because it's always been so good! Not this time. My filet was not shaped like a filet. It was weird shaped with thick and thinner places on it. It looked like a leftover chunk. Consequently it did not cook right. It was very blue and not easy to cut through. The fantastic kind waitress took it back to be fixed, brought it back and it was more done on the outside and where I cut it but still nearly raw in the thicker part. Inedible. At that point the manager came over, saw how bad it was and offered to fix it. My partner was nearly done eating so I requested a discount t of half since I did eat and enjoy half of the dinner. He agreed, that's what was done. I wouldn't recommend this place because the quality of meat has gone down. It's now not special and you'd get better at any of the other chains around here. The staff was good, the place is nice, just the quality of ingredients is not as good as you'd expect for a steakhouse of this caliber. read more

So....Hubs and I were hankerin' for a steak dinner, right so where do you go when that craving hits? Usually a steakhouse. Sure there are a few in Fresno that are notable but we also weren't looking to break the bank and have heard this-and-that about Cattlemen's and figured that we'd throw caution to the wind. It seems that there are either Valley "loyalists" that will give it five stars regardless because of their personal love of the place, or those that have "hit-and-miss" experiences...we were testing our theories. And we are glad we did, too! It must have been a "hit" night! We called ahead and they offered to put us on the list, to shorten our wait as we were driving from Fresno - yay! It was a weeknight and upon arrival the place was packed...people were waiting to get in. Our drive didn't take as long as expected so we waited an additional 5 or so minutes once we arrived - not a big deal. The restaurant was packed and is very large so they were definitely slingin' some vittles. We were excited to see how our experience would go forward. Hubs and I ordered the Original Steak Dinners For Two, which comes with an appetizer, salad for the table, two entrees plus two desserts (not the single dessert as standard offered at other places for dinner-for-two combos). Our server was smiling and courteous and brought drinks quickly, and took our order just as quickly, despite also taking care of a huge table of 12+ people next to us. Tumbleweed onions were our starter - and they were plentiful AND delicious. The salad was brought, the ranch dressing - is to die for, as everyone states. The sourdough rolls were also mouthwatering and did not disappoint. So far, we were off to a great start! We both ordered the Rustler Rib Eye 14 oz steak, mine was medium, Hubs was medium rare. They were both cooked exactly as ordered. As we wandered through out delicious meal, we kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, hoping for the best, but expecting the worst, as with any restaurant we try for the first time. We did not get the 2x baked potatoes - instead I chose a classic baked potato w/ the works and Hubs ordered mashed. They were SO GOOD. We took our time, our server never made us feel rushed. The Dinner For Two also came with 2 desserts, and we chose the cheesecake and the 3x chocolate cake. We couldn't finish them and ended up taking them home, along with packing up the majority of my steak and potato (this is normal - I always order too much and enjoy every bite the next day!). We were stoked - our experience was awesome and our waitstaff made it even more wonderful. The food was fabulous, cooked exactly as requested. There was nothing that I could say except "Thank You" Cattlemen's, for providing a great, fun experience w/out breaking our bank. So until our next venture here, to see about an "off" night....I've only got good things to say....and as always, this will follow with an additional visit to test our theories for consistency. So ya know...give it a shot. You may be pleasantly surprised! read more

I've heard the rave about this place, so decided to give it a try. There are few reasons why I gave it a 2 star review. First, we had reservations for 7:00 pm and we were actually seated at 7:45, so it defeats the point of making a reservation in advance. Secondly, we had a toddler and were told a high chair was being brought, 5 minutes later nothing. So we kindly asked a hostess by the name of Johanna or Jovana and to our dismay, she placed her hand up and said it's coming and proceeded to walk away. She was completely rude and as an business executive, if one of my employees acted that way, they be unemployed in a heartbeat. She's in a service oriented business and needs to act like it. So she really left a negative impression of service to add to the already super slow service of waiting to have our drink order taken and to finish dinner. Third, the dinner for two is a great deal, but when ordering a 14 oz ribeye, the medium was served almost rare to medium rare. Perhaps I misunderstood the word "steakhouse" as of a more upscale dining. I will say, the double stuffed potatoes and the warm sourdough was a complete consolation at dinner. We took our desert home and to top it off, a long brown hair in it. Our server was pleasant but definitely her accessory staff fell way below satisfactorily. Needless to say from the late reservation seating till the end, we were there for almost 3 hours! Complete waste of time. read more

Traditionally we celebrate our wedding anniversary with cocktails, appetizers, and dinner here and the food is usually great. Yesterday's experience was a huge disappointment. The prime rib was so rubbery, I couldn't even cut it. My wife's steak was at 2 temps under what she ordered. I sent my prime rib back, something I rarely do, for a ribeye which was basically raw. It wasn't even hot. The waitress was the only positive experience. Looks like we will be breaking tradition next year. read more

7-16-21, Service was excellent, food was not good I had 16oz prime rib the outer layer was like leather inedible and so salty. All the meat ordered was no good for the price we paid. I took 3/4 of my meat home for my dog. I gave a nice tip only for the service Vanessa was kind, but did not have the heart to complain the meat was not good. I love, love, love this restaurant. The steaks are so much better than any steakhouse in Fresno, including Yosemite Ranch, Ruth Chris and Tahoe Joes. The service is impeccable, so friendly and accommodating and have never had a bad meal. So worth the 25 minute drive from Fresno. The Pete's Special is a the bomb for $20.99 ; All you can eat salad, fresh sourdough French bread (OMG, the best!) 10 oz cooked to perfection sirloin baked potato and beverage of your choice which includes well drinks or a pint glass of Coors Light! Such a deal! If you come for your birthday, be prepared to have your name on the board when you walk in, a birthday song, a chocolate sundae and a cowboy hat to take home. So much fun! The atmosphere is rustic and western and very inviting. Tip: makes reservation on Yelp and you will get seated fast! read more

Went to Cattlemens because we've been there before and it was decent not bad food was alright. We went again yesterday, the staff very accommodating and friendly but the food was something else. I ordered the Filet Migon It was done right but way to small. What was the catcher was the baked potato it was cold cold cold. A baked potato should not be cold period. The butter doesn't melt. And I thought all entrees with a steak come with sides all we got was the salad and a cold potato is that all? Well we got bread lots and lots of bread no beans read more

I don't know what the big hype is about. The Cowboy Steak was labeled at 20 ounces @ $28, 3/4 inch thick. Come on! The layman will know that salt is necessary to bring out the flavors as well as to marinate it. They over did it. The small sirloin at 8 ounces for $18 was, at best, flavored as a steak with no frills added (seasoning). The steak (tri-tip) caesar salad had 5 small slices of steak and lettuce. That's it! The child chicken nuggets were on point though. read more

Service was good server was polite and friendly .Ate here several times and the food was amazingly good . However having a celebration for a family meal on Saturday. We were very disappointed that the food was sad . All steaks were over cooked and it was obvious they probably have an untrained staff . I hate to say with all the restaurants being under staff or with new employees the food was poorly prepared and a waste of $500.00 . But a shout out to our server who was pretty much on top of her game . But she didn't prepare the food . We left her a $80 tip but I probably won't recommend this place . Unless they retrained their cooks . Bake potatoes were still hard . 3 stars for the server ( I believe her name was Melissa - read more

So I will say all the reviews about the hostess staff being rude is pretty accurate. We were completely ignored when we walked in and even when standing right in front of the 4 girls standing behind the hostess booth no one bothered to say a word to us.
