The Catfish Station caught my attention in May, right after the storm. Many folk's lights were out, and a lot of people were hanging out at a nearby coffee place, including my furbaby and me. I saw the sign for Catfish Station across the street and asked the locals about it, and everyone seemed to give it great reviews. Fast forward to now, they were absolutely correct. I ordered the combination plate with fish, jumbo shrimp, fries, and a side of Gumbo soup. This wasn't a dish sitting under a hot light waiting to be ordered; nope, this was cooked to order. It came out piping hot and crispy. Did you see the size of my Gumbo bowl? This was a side dish that was only 6 dollars. My niece ordered the chicken and fries basket; it was very tender and tasty. We also ordered a bowl of pasta with a side salad, which was good. Also, let me add that the dining area is huge, with plenty of seating. I wanted to mention that because you will see plenty of cars in the parking lot and for obvious reasons. Side note, the parking area is very big and accommodating. The customer service is superb, too. I had a friendly conversation with the nice man who took my order. That being said, I'm alway on the lookout for good catfish and man, this spot has it! After friendly service at the counter, and a quick wait, upon viewing my meal I knew I was in for a treat! On Mondays the catfish snack is on special, and when I tell you, 3 fish tenders, fries and a hush puppy will feed you, 3 fish tenders, fries and a hush puppy will feed you! I'm picky but the fish was cooked to perfection without being greasy, over or under fried, the fries are double fried and shatter on impact, the hush puppies are such a little fried treat with sweet corn adding a noticeable sweetness, and the romalade sauce is pretty dang tasty! Because I'm me, I grabbed an order of shrimp and grits as well. With your choice of fried or grilled shrimp, this dish is equally tasty and filling! In general, I feel cheese grits are a gift to the world, so I may be biased, but these are certainly of the variety made with love and care. This was my first time trying this place and I must say, I'm extremely disappointed. I ordered the family pack today with catfish, shrimp and fries with a side of red beans and rice. First, when calling to place the order, they said it'd take 10 minutes which is bad because this is a large order and I'd think it would take longer than that to fry fresh food. Second, I don't live more than 15 minutes away and eating my food once I got home it was already cold. The food was extremely disappointing for the amount charged. There was more breading on the fish than there was fish which is ultimately frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this place and won't return. read more

I like a softer texture on my fried seafood. The food can be a bit salty depending on what you order (green beans). I like their red beans and rice. I don't like their boudin at all. I've loved going this place in the past, but the last visits have been really disturbingly disappointing. I called the number to order for a pick up as I've done previously, but they do not answer the phone and when they do, I get placed on hold with no one answering. The last time, today, I told the reception personnel about it and showed him how long I was on hold. He said, "oh, it's just been 11 minutes? Is there anything you want while youre here?" I assumed the place was busy and that was why the busyness or negligence but there was one customer in there while three employees stood around doing nothing. Absurd. Last time I will ever come here. Yasss honey! This is the SPOT! I spotted this place while driving down Kuykendal and I quickly looked it up on Yelp. After browsing the great reviews and awesome photos, my mom and I decided to check them out. They did not disappoint! The cocktail sauce on the other hand was actually the best that I've tasted...maybe I used to a jar lol. The fish and shrimp stole the show and tasted awesome as is and actually didn't even need a topping! We added a small order of 3 fried oysters, but since they were on the small side, it just tasted like fried...stuff lol. Though we were full, we went ahead and sealed the deal with a banana pudding to go. The flavor was accurate and it was surprisingly on the light side with it's whipped-like texture. Though the serving was generous and price right, I'll pass on it next time as it tasted like it had whipped cream in it, which I'm not keen on. Good idea though. The breading on the filet has a light but flavorful texture and the catfish is moist, flakey, and consistent piece to piece. My husband raves about the shrimp and the poboys are huge. The fries are not seasoned but have a crispy coating and creamy interior that lends itself to a generous ketchup dab. The banana and bread pudding are delish and that pecan pie is HEAVY on the bourbon so of you aren't a bourbon drinker opt for banana or bread pudding. They serve coke products and service is quick and polite. We had ordered through Uber eats previously and it sat at the door about 15-20 minutes before we knew it was there (driver and app fault- not the restaurant) and it was still SOOO good we knew we had to visit for dine in. The Crazy Six plate was Two shrimps - 5.5/10 very good batter but not fried long enough. Two chickens - 3/10, there was zero seasoning but fried perfectly. Two "catfish" - 0/10... it was not catfish AT ALL. Their "catfish" is actually Swai, and it was not fried enough. The texture was squishy underneath the batter. It also had zero flavor. I couldn't even finish it, I spit it out after one bite. This plate is also supposed to come with fries. I did not get my fries and because their number doesn't work, I couldn't even call about it. I normally check my food but I was in a rush. The macaroni turkey leg. The macaroni - 3/10 it was nothing special. The turkey leg - 7/10 flavorful and cooked right.
