That's their fish filets. Guppy maybe. $25 worth of shit. Refund my card.

What a disappointment. Expensive dinner $30 each person for some horrible food. Ordered their seafood platter and it was disgusting. Sent back and they still charged us. Asked for a manager and we waited 15 min and nothing. I want a refund. Totally ripping off the customers. We will never be back, rubber scallops, dried out stuffed crabs (at least a week old) all for $25. Fish, what a joke. 2 inch piece and when I complained they brought out an even smaller piece with stink bugs on the plate. Took my wife out for a Nice evening and you ruined it.

I am on a road trip and I wanted to stop at a restaurant that has great catfish and sides. I was not disappointed at the Catfish House. Before the catfish and shrimp came out the waitress came to the table with the Fix-ins. The fixings are white beans, hush puppies and coleslaw. I was full before the meal came to the table. I am not a fan of coleslaw but, this was coleslaw was GREAT! The hush puppies were fresh, hot and tasty. My catfish and shrimp came out fresh and hot! My meal and experience at the Catfish House was great. This is a great location for large groups and the rustic ambience is great for this location.

The set up. White beans, hushpuppies and cole slaw.

Wow. We stopped by here on a Thursday night on my way to the coast. No wait around 7:30. We were immediately seating. The place is nice and rustic with fishing stuff on the walls. It's what you would expect from a catfish house. Immediately, our drink order was taken and our "set up" was delivered. White beans, slaw and cornmeal hushpuppies. I could come here and eat just that and be happy. I ordered a combo of fried catfish filets and stuffed crabs. Everything was fantastic. I had fries, but next time I will get a baked potato. Nothing wrong with the fries, they are just those "batter coated" extra crispy kind I am not a fan of. It did not matter I had too much anyway. We really enjoyed this. On we were stuffed but we found out one of their desserts was a fried blackberry pie. That was outstanding as well. We were going to take pictures but we did not think about it again until after we consumed it. Try this place. Its just off I65 toward Millbrook.

Food was good. Like a lot of places, portions are getting smaller. Went with a party of 20+ and had only one server, so service was a little slow. Over all, a nice place to eat for seafood.

I finally made it to the great state of Alabama and was fortunate to find Catfish House through Yelp. It's a short drive out of town next to a pond. There was so much great tasting food and sweet tea. I was on my own this trip, and everyone made me feel at ease eating alone. Overall, very happy with my choice tonight.

The Catfish house has to be one of my favs. I passed through Millbrook on a rode trip and found this gem on a night out looking for dinner. Everything was PERFECT! I had to invite some buddies back with me. The service was outstanding and the hostess remembered me. They posted their praise all over FB. That's my spot now!

Senior Catfish Fillet Dinner

What a great evening! I visited here with some coworkers on a Wednesday evening. Even on a week day evening, be ready to wait for a table as this place is very popular in the community. Once seated, we were very quickly greeted for drinks, which came out right around the same time as plates of hushpuppies, coleslaw, and southern beans were placed on the table. These come complimentary with the meal, and honestly, I could've made a meal out of these sides. While the beans were not my favorite (they were too smokey/meaty in flavor for my preference), the hush puppies and coleslaw were to die for. For my main meal, I got the senior version of the fried catfish fillets. This dish only comes with two fried fillets rather than three, and a smaller side of fries. After my appetizers, this was the perfect size for me. The fries are not anything special, but they come out just as hot as the fish. My fillets were wonderful. The breading was great, it was hot, and the fish was perfectly cooked. I can see why this place is so popular. From the great home cooking to the friendly staff, it is the perfect stop for a family supper!

I don't like catfish, but my family does and they enjoyed it. The beans and slaw could be my last meal and I could die happy!

A solid country cooking experience. Excellent hush puppies. Also, the set up each table gets is as good as granny's

Wintzell's Oyster House - Shrimp sampler platter

Wintzell's Oyster House

We stopped in for a late lunch after the 1:00 rush of state employees cleared out. It was "Seafood…read moreFriday" for us on a business trip, and Wintzell's ended up being a solid choice. We were greeted immediately by a friendly hostess and seated without delay. The atmosphere was welcoming, with a lively mix of badge‑wearing state employees and locals. The décor could use a refresh--several bar stools looked mismatched--but the overall vibe was relaxed and comfortable. Our server, Jason, set the tone for the meal. He took our order promptly and struck that ideal balance of personable, attentive, and never pushy. Food We ordered the Fried Jo Platter, side salads, and cups of gumbo. Side Salads - 8/10 A pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual iceberg chunks, we got mixed greens with grape tomatoes, served cold and crisp. Sweet Tea - 2/10 Easily the low point of the meal. Strong but oddly flavorless, almost indistinguishable from unsweetened. We even confirmed it was supposed to be sweet. Gumbo - 9/10 Outstanding. Made with okra rather than filé, packed with shrimp, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot. As a gumbo lover and amateur chef, this was on par with homemade. Fried Jo Platter - Crab cake: lightly fried, moist, and succulent - 9/10 - Fish fillet: fresh‑tasting and flaky - 9/10 - Shrimp: well‑seasoned - 8/10 - Scallops: cooked as expected - 8/10 - Hush puppies: exceeded expectations - 9/10 Everything tasted like it came out of fresh oil, with a light, well‑seasoned batter and served hot. Service & Value Jason delivered excellent service throughout the meal. Portions were appropriate for the price, and the Jo Platter was generous enough for us to split. We've visited several Wintzell's locations, and this meal was definitely above the norm.

I've never seen such a dysfunctional and lethargic staff. Well staffed, mostly empty and the staff…read morewalks around joking and laughing with each other while ignoring guests. There was one man working the floor who was on point. Everyone else clearly didn't care and they made sure you knew they didn't care. 25 minutes to be seated, 10 minutes to be greeted by a server, 10 minutes to get drinks. Once the food came out, it was stellar. I've been eating at Wintzell's locations well over 50 years and I've never had anything better than what we were served but the front of house was just awful. Multiple groups got up and left without being seated or gave up after being seated when no server came to the table. Debbie, it was Saturday, April 4th. We arrived around 8:10. You had 4 servers, a hostess and less than ten tables, no large groups and only one takeout. We had food before we got silverware, drinks never got refilled, nobody checked on the table before or after we were served. The server didn't try to upsell or push apps. Again, the food was perfect. A family of three sat at the bar and it took over ten minutes for them to be greeted. A four top, five top and a couple left without being seated. A two top left 10 minutes after being seated when nobody came to the table. It was pouring rain so imagine how pissed people were to walk out in a storm rather than endure staying at Wintzell's.
