Was there recently only because a friend wanted to try it. Had been there years ago and didn't have any good memories. The seafood bisque was good. Ordered the blackened orange roughy on the menu but it wasn't available. So changed it to blackened catfish. I had a strange feeling that is wasn't actually catfish, thought it was flounder, but now thinking it was talipia. After reading some of the reviews and following up on verifying what catfish looks like I am sure it was not catfish. Whatever it was it was terrible. The veg's were not fresh. The service was good but the meal was below average. The same owner is there and he is not a cheerful fellow, really don't want to give my hard earned cash to this place anymore. read more

Rude! I walked into an empty establishment this morning and I encountered a grumpy man behind the counter. He ignored my presence at first, so I offered the greeting. I asked if I could get an order to pick up on Thanksgiving morning. He looked at me like I had two heads and rudely said he wasn't open on the holiday. You ever meet rude people that you know are just going to get worse? I should have just walked out right then and there. But I decided to try one more time, I asked "do you think if I picked up an order the night before it would be ok for the next day?" Again, I get more disrespect for asking an innocent question. He said something about freshness and he said that he only had one option. He made it a point to walk me over to the catering menu and he impatiently crossed off the cheaper options, leaving just one platter for me to take or to leave. I'm still the only person in this place and I was prepared to spend some time and customize a nice order for my event. Hey, whatever dude, I have 20 people to feed. I just wanted to order a couple hundred dollars worth of seafood from your business and you make me feel like I cut you off on the highway, or something. I had to leave. The owner of this place is the most arrogant, dishonest store owner I've ever encountered. Twice I sent my wife to buy fish from his raw fish department. The first time we ordered Cod. What came back was not Cod but Scrod, quite a difference in quality and price. So I thought innocent mistake Scrod/Cod sounds alike, somewhere the lines got crossed. Next time we ordered halibut. What came back as halibut was again scrod. Now if you know these 2 fishes that are NOTHING alike. They don't look a like and are shaped very differently. The halibut cost over $15.00 a lb. while scrod usually is about $3.00/lb. I called this guy to complain and he said he sold me chunk halibut. This guy is about as discount as a fish saleman could be. I have NEVER met an owner who doesn't care about their customers. I mean, wouldn't you want your business to grow?! Anthony either is arrogant and makes too much money to care or he is selling his restaurant and doesn't give a sh*t. He acted like he was just an ordinary employee who hates his job. Suggesting I go to another place when I asked him if his prices went up, then pretending to be busy and can't take the order. I'm guessing he did not have the amount that I needed. This was a horrible dining experience. They hire young, amateurish staff. I ordered the halibut with a baked potato. It was supposed to be grilled in garlic & olive oil. It came out lukewarm, with Rosemary flakes on it, cooked with herbs & spices. It tasted terrible. Also one of my party received my potato, while I received his vegetable. So now they had to make my dinner, while everyone in my party was eating theirs. In the interim no manager came over to offer apologies. After waiting almost one half hour when everyone in my party had finished their dinner, I finally went up to the counter & cancelled my order. I was given all kinds of excuses for their getting my order wrong. They claimed it was no one's fault. Oh, despite ruining my dinner, they still charged me $ 6.00 for my soda & salad. How chintzy can you get. As far as they were concerned it was my fault for cancelling the order. I've been eating there for years. I will not be back. read more

Adequate but somewhat uninteresting neighborhood place set in a strip mall. Service was good, fish overlooked, somewhat noisy. Waiter claimed the advertised twin lobster "special" had been "sold out" (and this was at 6:30 on a Saturday) but in any case, all the lobster "specials" were highly overpriced. If you live in the area, probably a reasonable alternative to the neighborhood diner but certainly not worth a trip. read more

Ordered a catfish plate and they gave me Cod. Went in the next day, ordered a catfish plate and they gave me 3 catfish and one cod fish fillet. I went back in and told the woman that she'd given me the wrong fish and she argued with me--even though I showed her the difference. Cod and catfish look and taste differently. The woman was extremely rude and insulting. I will never ever go here again. I give it a 2 only because the shrimp was delicious;. HOWEVER, the cod and catfish are very bland. Someone at our table asked to speak with the manager . Two minutes later, the waiter came back to the table and told him, "The manager said he doesn't feel like coming over here." If that isn't a reason not to come back, I don't know what is.What kind of a manager doesn't talk to a guest who asks to see him? I thought that was unheard of, but apparently not. What is the point of being the manager if that's your attitude?????? But beyond that, the food is very bland and mediocre here. There were six people in our party, and no one had anything good to say about the food, The general response was lukewarm. In addition, the prices are a little high, especially since the food isn't at all worth the price. Please do yourself a favor and choose a different place to go and spend your money. If you want great food for your money, please stay away from this place. If you want to go to a place where the manager actually cares about his guests, don't go to this place. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the blu cheese debacle. Someone at the able asked for blu cheese dressing for their salad. However, the waiter said they didn't have blu cheese dressing, even though they serve wings that come with a side of blu cheese. I am so disappointed to see so many bad reviews! If the regular customers that I know that I run into when I'm eating there had yelp perhaps the rating would be much much better! This Restaurant is completely underrated from what I see here. For starters yelp can get pretty pretentious, so don't always believe what you read people. Catfish Annie's is a restaurant that has been around for YEARS and has always been my go-to for fresh fish, or just when I'm jonesin' for some quality cooked seafood. At the fresh fish counter they are very helpful in telling you exactly how to cook your fish or seafood so that it comes out just as (or close enough to) the deliciously prepared meals that they serve. When you walk in you can feel the warmth of a family owned restaurant (which is exactly what this restaurant is!!) and something I love is how you can see into the kitchen, everyone in there is always so friendly! I have been going for years and I am particularly fond of one of the owners, Kathleen, who also happens to work cooking in the kitchen which is quite admirable. I also love their main cook Velma! Sweetest woman you will ever meet. Walking in to the dining room you're greeted with lovely decorations reminiscent of the ocean, Long Island, family photos...just overall pleasant ad very inviting. The service is very good, hostesses and servers always so sweet and knowledgeable. My favorite dish has got to be the grilled salmon-which is served with veggies and/or a baked potato or french fries which are always cooked crispy and unsalted (surprisingly good!) OR the Blackened Swordfish is one of my ALL time favorites, which they catch fresh from Long Island I believe and is always cooked to perfection. If you're not into that, they always have a great variety of homemade soups from seafood bisque, to Manhattan&New England clam chowder; they also serve linguini white clam sauce (which is to DIE for!) or red clam sauce. I also highly recommend getting the HOMEMADE biscotti made by the owners daughter! So delicious! You can also take some home with you!
