Our first time here. We celebrated my birthday and Mother's Day weekend at Catch Carmel's Fish House!! My boyfriend ordered the Crab ravioli and I ordered the Scallop and Shrimp Salad . I love the atmosphere and the food came out pretty fast!!

When we arrived, we were greeted with 2 glasses of drinks and 2 spoons of caviar (complimentary). Food was great! The halibut is recommended more than sea bass, we also ordered 2 kids pizza and they were extremely small (not recommended)

Driving down 17 Mile Drive from Pacific Grove we knew friends are frequent visitors of Carmel. We messaged and asked them for a lunch recommendation and we received several. But they shared the best seafood can be found at Catch. That's where we drove to. We were promptly seated in the dining room which had a nice ambiance. Right away we were served complimentary small portion of Caviar and a very small glass of Champagne - an unexpected but appreciated way to start the meal. After reviewing the menu I ordered their local specialty Monterey Bay Sand Dabs while my wife ordered their Grilled Salmon. We drank our beverages (I had an Italian Pilsner and my wife a French Chardonnay). After an appropriate time our lunch arrived. We both really enjoyed our meals - the Sand Dabs were tender, flaky and flavored with a creamy piccata sauce and served with a side of rice pilaf and sautéed vegetables. My wife's Salmon was served with a Saffron cream sauce and baked potato au gratin. The service was very attentive and friendly. We have no reservation recommending Catch in Carmel to any friend. We look forward to returning in the future.

Only went here because the neighboring restaurants had a waitlist. Very good calamari. Service was above average. Fish entrees were not great. Grilled fish was too dry and the fish and chips as well. Clam chowder was too creamy and not enough texture with clams and potatoes. The dining was too blue of a lighting. Wouldn't return with all the better options around here.

It's not just a restaurant it's an experience. Some of the best seafood pasta and dishes we've ever had. Right on the Main Street of Carmel by the Sea. The staff and service was perfect and entertaining. Awesome date night atmosphere makes it a place you'll truly remember.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing owner. I honestly can say this is the best sea food in this area. They start serving you with a complimentary caviar and champagne. We ordered the pasta with the jumbo prawns and crab and shrimp ravioli, they both were outstanding! I recommend this place 100% if you are in the mood for the seafood. It is the cleanest, most delicious food in Carmel. We will be back

Catch is a very nice seafood restaurant in Carmel. The ambiance is cozy with Aquarium inspired decor. The service was prompt and very good. Our waters were refilled without asking. We ordered calamari for appetizer. The calamari rings were tender with the breading light and crunchy. A very nice start to our entrees. Soy Glazed Sea Bass - 5/5 The bass filet was marinated with a slightly sweet soy glaze. The fish filet was not dry, and was cooked perfectly. The veggies (carrots & String beans) were cooked perfectly. You have a choice between rice and potato au gratin. I chose the potato au gratin which was very good and tender. It was not overly baked or too cheesy. A great selection. Prawn Pasta a la Cream - 5/5 This pasta dish wasn't very tasty. The Puran's were large and prepared perfectly - nice and tender. The tomatoes were real fresh chucks, not canned tomatoes. The white cream sauce was rich with a background of wine flavor. The pasta was cooked al dante. A very nice pasta dish. Blackened Salmon - 4/5 The blackened salmon was good. The filler was a tad over done which made parts of the salmon a little dry. The mash potatoes were buttery good. Surf and Turf - 5/5 The filet mignon was prepared perfectly medium rare. The filet was tenderly delicious! The lobster tail was around 6 oz. The lobster was broiled perfectly. It was not overly done. It was tender. We enjoyed our experience at Catch. The service was great and the food prepared was great. I recommend giving Catch a visit when you're visiting Carmel by the sea!

I was on vacation and just passing through town. It was around 8:00p.m, Thursday. Most businesses appeared to be closed by then, and the town itself felt very quiet, with only a few people outdoors. Catch, however, was open until 9:30p.m. and pleasantly uncrowded. The guests inside looked comfortable, cheerful, and relaxed. The lighting was soft and romantic--not too bright--and I absolutely loved the jellyfish lamps. The background music was calming and at a perfect volume, allowing for easy, comfortable conversation. The waiter was friendly and attentive, engaging warmly with guests and making everyone feel welcome. Shortly after I was seated, I was pleasantly surprised with complimentary bread paired with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, along with champagne and caviar. I had never tried caviar before, and it was much better than I expected. A few minutes later, a gentleman came out and played a couple of songs on the guitar before leaving. The music sounded foreign--possibly Spanish--and added a romantic touch to the evening. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable dining experience. Catch is a beautiful and romantic restaurant, and I highly recommend giving it a try.

The halibut - difficult to get a decent pic with the gloomy blue lighting.

With three nights in Carmel, we were keen to try out some different places to eat, and Catch was number two. Initial impressions were good, as they offer you a shot of bubbly and a wee spoon of caviar as soon as you sit down. However, neither was of particularly good quality. Next came the wine order - they didn't have the Oyster Bay NZ Sauvignon Blanc that I asked for, but provided another variety that I'd never heard of - of course this was 'at the same price'. I've no idea what it would actually cost, although I suspect not as much as the New Zealand version. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it was in the same league as the Oyster Bay (which we like), and in retrospect I should have gone back to the wine list and picked again. For mains, I went with the halibut, which came with a ball of rice and not much else. The fish was tasty enough, but I felt it could have been a bit more imaginative. Then came the Mariachi guitarist... if there's one thing guaranteed to annoy me, it's musicians coming round the tables when you're trying to enjoy your meal. Just... please don't.

My son and his girlfriend, at catch, and it was his 21st birthday!

It was my son's 21st birthday! The waiter took the time to make it a truly special birthday. dinner. He made it so special!!! They gave us small shots of Champaign and small spoons of caviar together. It looked very classy. All the food and service was wonderful. The waiter brought a delicious dessert with a birthday candle at the end. It wasn't just a scoop of ice cream. It was a true fine dining dessert. The service, food, location, and ambiance were excellent! Thank you to our wonderful waiter and cooks!!!

Send me home hungry and bill me $$$ for 2, at least i get to stay in my PJs. I'm glad I stuck through with the original plan and was blown away by the endless mindfuck of plates that permanently altered my brain chemistry. In all seriousness, the menu itself doesnt seem too special: crabcakes, ceasar salad, creme brulee. Very unassuming and no real twists to it. BUT -- everything was executed to PER-FECT-SHUN and I found myself just shy of licking every. frikkin'. plate clean. No stone left unturned - in this case, not a single kernel of corn or garnish was left uneaten. I'll jump right to the food: - Half dozen raw oysters: honestly might be the more underwhelming dish of the meal only because the oysters didn't have much flavor. No brine. No sweet. The mignonette was so great though! it gave the oysters what it needed. Add a flake of salt and we're cookin'. - Caesar salad: Good all around. The assembly is what made it so over-the-top. The classic caesar but with ribbons of parm, light and fresh anchovies, whole thinly sliced loaf of crouton that held that salad up like a house of cards but crumbles to touch. I was picking up every crumb that tumbled off to the table and was audibly slurping the ribbons of parmesan. - Crabcakes: Not just another crabcake. The batter was crunchy but didn't make the dish heavy. a cooling and smooth avo creme. but OH MY GOD the grilled corn on the plate really made the dish shine! It added a nice sweet pop and smokiness that made the dish more complex. Not even assembled in a cute pile, just scattered little kernels on a plate got me out here picking them up one-by-one like a mere peasant dusting the sidewalk for nickels. yes, humble me chef. I had to apologize to the waitress who cleared my plate for how embarrassingly clean my plate was. - Thai mussels: A cliche of a mussel dish on every modern menu. I've had a lot of versions of this dish and this plate wowed me in that the mussels were simply cooked perfectly. the sauce was not thin, not too pulpy nor salty. The sauce actually penetrated the mussels. The mussels were fresh, and no empty shells, which is a low bar but so common to see these days. There might even be a couple straggling that i was able to fish from the bottom. Just a clean dish overall. The fries were the perfect accompaniment. The walls of the extra starchy and crispy fries grabbed alot of the sauce for dipping. So smart. - Beef cheeks: Perfect textures all around. It feels wrong to complain at this point but I wanted more unctuousness from the protein. The beef was actually a backdrop to the polenta and mushrooms. i wanted more fat, more melty gelatinous tendon bites. what it produced though was a perfect fancy gravy for the polenta - so creamy and perfectly seasoned. A leafy green here and there. The maitaki mushrooms were cooked perfectly, not greasy. I was really just scraping the plate for the polenta and grabbing a bite of beef cheeks as sauce. Not a bad way to live by any means. - Acai sorbet: I almost never order dessert at a restaurant. It tends to disspoint and overpriced but i have never trusted a chef so much with a full meal so of course i got TWO desserts. The acai was accompanied with raspberries and granola. Super fresh and light. The acai broke apart upon touch, didnt slide around eventhough it's on a plate, but the plate choice was nicely textured to grip the icy sorbet (WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT THEIR PLATE CHOICE??) Gronola was not clunky and added a (rice) crispiness rarely found in granola. Such great care and attention to detail. - Orange and Tarragon Creme Brulee: I looked at the creme brulee with distain. Why did we order a 2nd dessert when the acai sorbet was already perfect. Orange and tarragon sounds like they're trying to sound "complex" but rarely delivers on balance and impact. I cracked the torched sugar top and gave it a chance, knowing that i havent been dissapointed tonight yet... and CUE the hallelujah angels choirs. I looked my partner in the eye and audibly said "YUMMMM... TRY. THIS. NAOOO.". We switched from the acai to the creme brulee and never stopped until the sides were hallowed out and every crystal of torched sugar was scraped off the walls. The torched sugar top cracked with ease and stayed CRISPYYYY the whole time. The custard was smooth, thick but light, and packed with orange flavor that was fiercely tempered by the herbaceous tarragon. The one sliver of orange peel candy was not supposed to wow me with it's texture and left me wondering how they managed to get the cracker-like crackle without too much sugar and not leave it leathery?? What a way to end a meal. On my way home, I got a twinge of the orange peel left in my teeth and it instantly brought me back to the magic that was the Mission Bistro. and it was HOT.

The fish and chips were inedible--the fish was gray on the inside and didn't look appetizing at all. The chicken sandwich came with wilted, brown lettuce and a tomato that was clearly spoiled. It had a sour taste and a foul odor that immediately ruined the entire sandwich. When we brought it to our server's attention, there wasn't even an apology. Instead of addressing the overall issue, he simply brought out another tomato. The chicken quesadilla was shockingly small, looked like something from a kids' menu, and had almost no flavor. Even the beer tasted off. At that point, it felt like every item that came to the table had a problem. The most surprising part was that the bathroom seemed cleaner and better maintained than the food being served. We spent around $140 and left wondering what exactly we paid for. To make matters worse, several members of my family felt sick after eating here. Between the poor food quality, lack of concern from the staff, and overall experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
