Driving down 17 Mile Drive from Pacific Grove we knew friends are frequent visitors of Carmel. We messaged and asked them for a lunch recommendation and we received several. But they shared the best seafood can be found at Catch. That's where we drove to. We were promptly seated in the dining room which had a nice ambiance. Right away we were served complimentary small portion of Caviar and a very small glass of Champagne - an unexpected but appreciated way to start the meal. After reviewing the menu I ordered their local specialty Monterey Bay Sand Dabs while my wife ordered their Grilled Salmon. We drank our beverages (I had an Italian Pilsner and my wife a French Chardonnay). After an appropriate time our lunch arrived. We both really enjoyed our meals - the Sand Dabs were tender, flaky and flavored with a creamy piccata sauce and served with a side of rice pilaf and sautéed vegetables. My wife's Salmon was served with a Saffron cream sauce and baked potato au gratin. The service was very attentive and friendly. We have no reservation recommending Catch in Carmel to any friend. We look forward to returning in the future.

Only went here because the neighboring restaurants had a waitlist. Very good calamari. Service was above average. Fish entrees were not great. Grilled fish was too dry and the fish and chips as well. Clam chowder was too creamy and not enough texture with clams and potatoes. The dining was too blue of a lighting. Wouldn't return with all the better options around here.

It's not just a restaurant it's an experience. Some of the best seafood pasta and dishes we've ever had. Right on the Main Street of Carmel by the Sea. The staff and service was perfect and entertaining. Awesome date night atmosphere makes it a place you'll truly remember.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing owner. I honestly can say this is the best sea food in this area. They start serving you with a complimentary caviar and champagne. We ordered the pasta with the jumbo prawns and crab and shrimp ravioli, they both were outstanding! I recommend this place 100% if you are in the mood for the seafood. It is the cleanest, most delicious food in Carmel. We will be back

I was on vacation and just passing through town. It was around 8:00p.m, Thursday. Most businesses appeared to be closed by then, and the town itself felt very quiet, with only a few people outdoors. Catch, however, was open until 9:30p.m. and pleasantly uncrowded. The guests inside looked comfortable, cheerful, and relaxed. The lighting was soft and romantic--not too bright--and I absolutely loved the jellyfish lamps. The background music was calming and at a perfect volume, allowing for easy, comfortable conversation. The waiter was friendly and attentive, engaging warmly with guests and making everyone feel welcome. Shortly after I was seated, I was pleasantly surprised with complimentary bread paired with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, along with champagne and caviar. I had never tried caviar before, and it was much better than I expected. A few minutes later, a gentleman came out and played a couple of songs on the guitar before leaving. The music sounded foreign--possibly Spanish--and added a romantic touch to the evening. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a truly enjoyable dining experience. Catch is a beautiful and romantic restaurant, and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Catch is a very nice seafood restaurant in Carmel. The ambiance is cozy with Aquarium inspired decor. The service was prompt and very good. Our waters were refilled without asking. We ordered calamari for appetizer. The calamari rings were tender with the breading light and crunchy. A very nice start to our entrees. Soy Glazed Sea Bass - 5/5 The bass filet was marinated with a slightly sweet soy glaze. The fish filet was not dry, and was cooked perfectly. The veggies (carrots & String beans) were cooked perfectly. You have a choice between rice and potato au gratin. I chose the potato au gratin which was very good and tender. It was not overly baked or too cheesy. A great selection. Prawn Pasta a la Cream - 5/5 This pasta dish wasn't very tasty. The Puran's were large and prepared perfectly - nice and tender. The tomatoes were real fresh chucks, not canned tomatoes. The white cream sauce was rich with a background of wine flavor. The pasta was cooked al dante. A very nice pasta dish. Blackened Salmon - 4/5 The blackened salmon was good. The filler was a tad over done which made parts of the salmon a little dry. The mash potatoes were buttery good. Surf and Turf - 5/5 The filet mignon was prepared perfectly medium rare. The filet was tenderly delicious! The lobster tail was around 6 oz. The lobster was broiled perfectly. It was not overly done. It was tender. We enjoyed our experience at Catch. The service was great and the food prepared was great. I recommend giving Catch a visit when you're visiting Carmel by the sea!

    Complimentary caviar and champagne

Absolutely fabulous dining experience. Food was excellent, service was top notch, and ambiance was just perfect. Upon being seating we were greeted with friendly and classy customer service, complimentary caviar and champagne, followed by delicious soft bread with oil and vinegar. Our entrees were fantastic and the evening got better by the minute with periodic live music that was engaging and very impressive. Pleasantly surprised that most plates are just $30-40 for this elevated dining experience. We would travel back to Carmel just to have dinner here again.

The halibut - difficult to get a decent pic with the gloomy blue lighting.

With three nights in Carmel, we were keen to try out some different places to eat, and Catch was number two. Initial impressions were good, as they offer you a shot of bubbly and a wee spoon of caviar as soon as you sit down. However, neither was of particularly good quality. Next came the wine order - they didn't have the Oyster Bay NZ Sauvignon Blanc that I asked for, but provided another variety that I'd never heard of - of course this was 'at the same price'. I've no idea what it would actually cost, although I suspect not as much as the New Zealand version. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it was in the same league as the Oyster Bay (which we like), and in retrospect I should have gone back to the wine list and picked again. For mains, I went with the halibut, which came with a ball of rice and not much else. The fish was tasty enough, but I felt it could have been a bit more imaginative. Then came the Mariachi guitarist... if there's one thing guaranteed to annoy me, it's musicians coming round the tables when you're trying to enjoy your meal. Just... please don't.

My son and his girlfriend, at catch, and it was his 21st birthday!
    Juliana W.

It was my son's 21st birthday! The waiter took the time to make it a truly special birthday. dinner. He made it so special!!! They gave us small shots of Champaign and small spoons of caviar together. It looked very classy. All the food and service was wonderful. The waiter brought a delicious dessert with a birthday candle at the end. It wasn't just a scoop of ice cream. It was a true fine dining dessert. The service, food, location, and ambiance were excellent! Thank you to our wonderful waiter and cooks!!!

    Spa spritzer and virgin spritzer
    Vanessa H.

We had a beach day! Got hungry and stepped into this wonderful place. It had a nice and cozy feeling inside, they had instrumental versions of popular songs playing in the background which I really enjoyed. One of the best parts about this place was the complementary taste of Champagne and Caviar! omg!! Made my day. It was amazing. I don't eat a lot so just ordered a cup of clam chowder; it was good thick and creamy. I also ordered the house salad. (Added salmon to my salad) it was much larger than I thought it would be. The salad and salmon were very good. I enjoyed my virgin spritzer and am a happy girl. My husband ordered the fish tacos to drink he had the spa spritzer it has lemon cello in it he is a big fan of that. Our server Florencio was great! He checked on us just the right amount and was not pushy; we really liked him. I really want to bring my family back here I think they would really enjoy it.

It's hard to stand out in a place like Carmel, California because everywhere you look there's another great looking place to eat. We were walking by Catch, wanted seafood and decided this was the spot. They seated us immediately at a great table and brought us a champagne and caviar amuse bouche, which was a really nice touch. Three of us ordered fish, one ordered chicken and everyone was really happy with their meal. Prices were reasonable, and service was excellent. Five stars!

    Dia N.

If you're in Carmel on a weekday, you know everything literally closes by like 8pm. Finding a spot to grab a light bite after 8pm is so difficult, so luckily I stumbled on this spot and they had oysters! I shared the half oysters, lobster sandwich, and clam chowder. The oysters were good, but I wish they had separated the cocktail sauce from the horseradish. The clam chowder was also good, but it was a bit more on the thicker chunkier side for me, but flavors were there! The lobster open faced sandwich was very filling and came with a side of salad. I loved the big bits of lobsters mixed in with some veggies. The staff here were also super friendly and sweet. They always checked up on us and made sure we were doing well. There's a lot of seating here indoors and outdoors. When we arrived, there was even some live music going on. It looks like this place and the Mediterranean place are owned by the same people which is probably why they're both open later than other businesses.

The Highlights: The service is top-tier. The host and hostess were incredibly thoughtful, even offering us champagne for a wait that wasn't even that long. Our waiter (I believe his name was Ethan--tall, slender guy) was wonderful. He was fast, full of personality, and checked on us just the right amount. My Miso Salmon was also a standout--perfectly cooked with a sweet sauce that balanced well with the salty rice. The Downsides: The wait for the food was long enough that both we and the table next to us were wondering where our orders were. More importantly, the Asian fusion dishes were a letdown. The Spam Kimbap had chewy seaweed, undercooked rice, and very little flavor. The Kimchi Fried Rice was just a mushy blend of flavors with no distinction. Final Word: For a place with such beautiful Asian-inspired decor, the actual Asian dishes felt generic and lacked authenticity. If you go, stick to the salmon and enjoy the great service, but lower your expectations for the fusion items.

It's one of the best appetizers on the menu, even better than the fish and chip (surprised, it's just bland, soggy and soft, and lacking the wow factor). And honestly, I can't leave without trying clam chowder. It's thick, creamy, has a taste of the ocean and is exactly the kind of warm-your-bones meal you need when the coastal fog just rolls in. The Good: * We loved the location--down a set of stairs into a dimly lit, cozy space. * And speaking of cozy spaces, we love that every table is its own private booth. Nothing is more annoying than having to dine with strangers just inches away, in my opinion. * Service was, uhhh, interesting but passable. We actually liked the dude who was following up behind our server, as he seemed like a really cool guy with definite opinions on the food. * Make sure you order their unique take on chips and salsa! Their fried wonton wrappers paired with a deliciously unique ginger pico de gallo were fantastic. * The Fried Fish Cakes (a daily special, so they might not always be on the menu) were delicious and full of flavor. * We both loved our entrées; my Black Bean Halibut was cooked perfectly--tender and flaky--and I loved the funky fermented black bean sauce. Carissa is still talking about her Almond Sea Bass weeks later, so 'nuff said. * The Warm Tempura Banana Sundae was a bit odd but worked in a weird way. We normally skip dessert unless it's something unique, and this certainly fit the bill! The Meh: * Reservations are handled the old-fashioned way: via telephone. * No outdoor dining. The Ugly: * While being underground is part of their charm, as mentioned above, it is definitely not ADA-compliant. Bright yellow table clothed with light blue embroidery. Great serve with the waiter and the manager lady checked on every table during lunch. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Tried their Turkish coffee which was full of aroma of the spices and very rich . I absolutely love it ! The Gyro was filled with lots of meta with cream cheese and salad . It tastes excellent. Price wa $20.95 . We also ordered the Istanbul kabab with charcoal boiled ground beef skewers , served over rice pilaf with lavash bread . It was seasoned with tomato and Turkish spices with a side salad . Portion was big and we got a to go box for the left over. Food was absolutely delicious. We were too full to order the dessert and the manager gave us dessert on the house . Highly recommended this restaurant and would like to comeback to try their lamb shank and paella . The bar counter lights up in an old world mysterious way , filled with their many wine collections .

The clam chowder - creamy and mediocre at best. Probably where they earn the one star. Frutti di mare- seafood was overcooked and the soup/sauce tasted like boiled sink water. Cheese bread was not bad. Lamb shank- tasted like a hungry man microwaveable meal. The green beans look and taste straight out of a school cafeteria. The shank was tender but had 0 salt and the gravy was just watery as well. Was gonna ask for salt but there was no waiter to be found. Overall the Resturaunt was busy and pretty nice inside but I wouldn't see myself coming back again.
