My favorite thing about this place is that they give you complimentary caviar and sparkling wine right at the beginning of your meal! It's super cute, classy, and delicious!! Overall, friendly service and food was pretty good! Our server, Abby, was super awesome and always ready for us from ordering food and drinks, to not judging us for ordering a ton of food (we wanted to try a couple things and ate almost all of it - what we didn't eat, we took home and at the next day!)! He was really friendly and good at recommending things to us, and didn't rush us out! I ordered two glasses of sparkling wine, a dozen oysters (split with my sis), Almond Crusted Halibut, and The Catch Lobster Tail (split with my sis). We ate almost all of it! I think my sis ordered the sea bass and a cocktail drink that she really liked, as well. My favorite was probably the lobster tail and caviar with sparkling wine. It was really good. I almost wanted to order more, if I had the stomach room! We were seated outside and it was nicely spaced. They were ready for us to have my Lilo in the stroller and were nice about her since we'd put in our reservation that we'd be bringing a dog, even nicely offering her a water bowl (but I already had one for her). Inside was a bit cramped, so def glad we were dining outside. The bathroom was super clean though, which I always give props for. The only thing that I think they need to work on is the sides to the entrees. The potatoes au gratin were okay, but the the vegetables were just sorta steamed (maybe boiled?) carrots and green beans. Not a whole lot of flavor to them. They should up their side game. The veggies are usually my favorite part of the meal at fancy places, but not here. We came here for food since we went to Carmel beach and it was on the strip next to the beach. The food was honestly just okay but it's not like it was bad. And it's kind of what I expected from beachside restaurants. The dishes were quite expensive and the service was pretty slow. The free bread was good. We ordered the vegetarian sandwich, crab cakes, calamari, crab ravioli, clam chowder, and smoked salmon. Out of everything I think I liked the crab cake appetizer the most. For the calamari we actually got the wrong dish since they have calamari steak and regular rings. I wanted the rings but they gave the steak, however I didn't make this super clear when I ordered so I didn't complain about it. I was afraid they'd end up throwing it away which would be a waste. The calamari steak was not super impressive though, the breading kept falling off. The crab ravioli was also not very flavorful, the crab was fine but the ravioli itself was kind of flavorless. The food and service was amazing! We ordered the fritto misto as an appetizer and it was so good. We ordered the calamari steak and surf and turf and the lobster was perfectly cooked and the steak was a little thin but so tender and cooked to perfection. We ordered the Grilled Prawns and Steamed Clams for our appetizers, both were very good. We ordered the Almond Crusted Halibut, Linguini with Clams and Clam Chowder. The Halibut was good but a little overcooked, the Linguini was excellent but the Clam Chowder was terrible, It had no flavor and tasted like I was eating a bowl of fish cream. The service was great when we first got seated, but then it was like everyone went on break. It took way too long to get drink refills. Came here for early dinner one evening. We were greeted by a very friendly staff. We ordered the crab cakes for appetizer (Forgot to take a picture) which we really enjoyed. During a family getaway to the Big Sur, we placed a large order with Catch for our cousin's birthday. She was intent on seafood because of our location and Catch was able to deliver to our vacation rental. We were super excited for the meal and after tax/delivery it was almost $500. Delivery went super smoothly, but when we unpacked the order discovered that there was no chicken on our chicken kebab salad. It was super sad because we had one family member that can't eat seafood, so OF COURSE, the one item that was meant for them was the one thing that got messed up. Bah! Given that it was sure a huge order, I get it..mistakes happen, but it was definitely disappointing. That aside, the general family consensus was that the food was okay, but definitely not a favorite. The best dishes were the cioppino and the grilled shrimp, the crab cakes were decent, but everything else was just okay and nothing stood out. I would also say that sometimes (often times) getting delivery really impacts how the food tastes on arrival, so I would also point out that this was a delivery order and it could be much better for in-person dining. Anyhoo, if you're looking for a delivery option and don't want to brave crowds at other restaurants, this could be an option..otherwise it might just be better to order ahead and pick up! read more

Service was excellent & food overall was good Complimentary small champagne & caviar was a nice touch, not high quality caviar but no complaints here. Fresh warm ciabatta bread was excellent: crispy crust & doughy interior, great with the dipping sauce of olive oil & balsamic vinegar. Linguine with clam ($28.95) was okay: al dente texture, but the dish itself was quite bland. Cioppino ($34.95) was good: jumbo shrimps were relatively fresh & popped in the mouth, cod fish & salmon were not too fishy, clams & mussels were good, if only they can throw in some scallops. The broth had good flavors. Both of the entrees came with 2 pieces of excellent garlic ciabatta bread. The outdoor dining tables were set up right on the main street (Ocean ave), it was 12 noon yet it was chilly & breezy 60 degree weather, the sun completely blocked out by the smog from wild fires. The heating lamp provided some measures of warmth if you sit close enough. Servers were attentive & friendly, they kept refilling our hot water, the beverage of choice for Asian people. Just had a wonderful and relaxed lunch with our Golden Retriever asleep under our table in the little alley way beside Catch in Carmel. Our waiter, Luis, was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed complementry sparkling wine and caviar to start. I had been craving sand dabs since I arrived and was finally satisfied. My husband ordered the cioppino and was wowed. My family and I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon in early November. We got a table at the window and the staff was nice and friendly. We got our waters and the waiter gave us complementary spoonful of caviar and champagne with free bread. The menu has soup, Italian and Mediterranean food. The atmosphere was really nice while people watching at the window. My fried cod fish and chips was cooked just right and crispy. My sister got the clam chowder in bread bowl. She said it was creamy and thick and the bread is covered in garlic butter which made it delicious to eat the bread itself. We also ordered garlic cheese bread and that was really good. Located on Ocean Ave between Lincoln Street and Monte Verde St. I had a cup of their clam chowder and a Caesar salad. The chowder was very creamy and had plenty of tasty clams. The salad included some fresh anchovies that were very salty but very good. My wife had the open face lobster sandwhich which was also very good and good size with plenty of lobster. The service was also top notch. The waiter brought us each a spoon of caviar shortly after being seated which was a nice introduction to their restaurant. I love Carmel for a lot of reasons. This certainly added another reason. First and foremost, the restaurants' ambiance and lighting really add to the experience on top of the great food. One of the things that really stood out to me as a shrimp lover was the shrimp pizza. Initially I was hesitant because I thought who in their right mind would put shrimp and pizza together in a dish; now I can't help but wonder why this wasn't a thing earlier. It was DELICIOUS. The service was wonderful! We went for our anniversary and they were so sweet. We have found that a lot of places these days do not do a lot for special occasions but Catch had a guitarist play a live song to us and gave us a nice dessert on the house. When we where seated the staff serviced the last table that had come in vs in the order of arrival. Our order was taken roughly after 20 minutes of sitting patiently to place our drinks & apps order. There was a large party which happened to be ending their visit when we came in. Maybe 4 table tops during our visit which didn't seem to make sense on why service was slow. Hopeful that this was a one off occurrence and that this restaurant is not going downhill. Food seemed to be consistent which made up for the service. I hit the jackpot!!! 1/2 bottle Rombauer $50.00. My fav Chardonnay! That might sound steep, but I could barely eat half of the pizza, I took half of the wine home, I only needed one cup of espresso, and the creme brûlée was bog enough for two. We tired the free caviar and champagne but wished they'd asked us if we'd like it before setting it down We ordered two $20 drinks Gimlet and some Pink Martini both terrible. I'm not at all picky but they were just Meh. My husband ordered the Halibut and it was just ok, needed seasoning - I ordered the Ultimate Truffled Lobster Risotto and it was so horrible! I don't even think it was Risotto. It looked like my husbands rice pilaf with cream sauce and the fishiest "lobster" I've ever tasted with no flavor. I salted the he heck out of it and could barely could eat it. It was the worst $150 meal we've ever had.
