I just had my pool completely remodeled by CATAK Pools, including new Pebble Sheen, new tile, and new Deco Seal, and I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. I'm not someone who typically writes reviews, and this is actually my first one, but when you have an experience like the one I had with Mike and CATAK Pools, a review is absolutely deserved. Let me start by saying that both my father and my husband have been contractors, so I grew up around construction and, as you can imagine, my expectations and standards were extremely high from the very beginning. That being said, Mike didn't just meet my expectations--he exceeded them from day one. Everything was delivered exactly as promised and scheduled, and in several cases, even sooner than expected. The finished pool is absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship is beautiful, and the entire crew was professional, respectful, and incredibly clean. Every day, they left my yard neat and tidy, which made the entire process so much easier. One of the things that impressed me most was how responsive Mike was. If I ever had a question or concern, I could text him and he would respond within minutes--sometimes literally within seconds. That level of communication is something you don't always get with contractors, and I truly appreciated knowing that I could reach him whenever I needed to. I spent about three months researching contractors and getting MANY estimates from local companies. Coming from a contractor family, we've always lived by the saying, "Cheap work isn't good, and good work isn't cheap." Mike was not the highest estimate, and he certainly wasn't the lowest. But he was, without a doubt, the best choice for us. Every penny was well spent. Looking back, I'm so grateful that I trusted my instincts and chose Mike and CATAK Pools. If you're getting ready to remodel your pool, do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache and stress of interviewing contractor after contractor. I can honestly say that I would choose CATAK Pools again in a heartbeat. Our family is looking forward to many, many years of enjoying our beautiful new pool. Thank you, Mike, and the entire CATAK Pools crew, for doing such an amazing job. We are truly grateful! read more

After interviewing seven different pool companies to build my backyard pool, CATAK stood out by far as the most professional. From our very first meeting, Mike set himself apart from the competition. He was the only contractor who came prepared with the city plans already printed, and it was immediately clear that he had an exceptional understanding of every aspect of the pool-building process. After deciding to move forward with CATAK, Mike sent me an extensive list of references--again, something no other company offered. That level of transparency gave me even more confidence that I had made the right choice. You would expect someone with Mike's experience and expertise to be the most expensive, but surprisingly, CATAK was one of the most competitively priced companies I interviewed. Only one company came in with a lower bid, but after doing my own research, I discovered they had provided incorrect information about several aspects of the project. In the end, CATAK offered the best value by combining knowledge, quality, and fair pricing. Throughout the entire project, Mike was incredibly responsive. Every question I had was answered promptly by text or email, and he was on-site during every phase to make sure everything was done correctly and stayed on schedule. I even asked him for a few favors, like removing some large items from my yard, and he didn't hesitate. In fact, he took it upon himself to haul them out himself without ever making it feel like an inconvenience. Mike is one of the hardest-working contractors I've ever met, and it's obvious that he genuinely cares about the quality of his work and his customers' satisfaction. I wouldn't trust anyone else to build or remodel my pool. Choosing CATAK was one of the best decisions I've made, and I wholeheartedly recommend Mike and his team to anyone looking for a pool builder who is honest, knowledgeable, hardworking, and committed to doing the job right. read more

We have built four pools now with four different contractors over the past 20 or so years. While the first three I would consider decent projects with not too much to complain about, it became apparent that building with CATAK pools would be an eye-opening experience. The level of professionalism and expertise was something we had never experienced before in any home project including building a custom spec home, let alone a swimming pool. Attention to detail and quality was built into the entire project and Mike was leading the entire way. All aspects of the project were handled with zero headaches on our end and there weren't any surprises or "gotcha" moments, Mike handled everything and always made us comfortable with the process, valued our input, and any offered changes from us without any fuss or hassle. The execution of the project was seamless and performed in a systematic and efficient manner, even with some weather impact the whole project was wrapped up in record time. During execution the crews' that Mike used were amazing! Even though there is some noise associated with the process they were always cognizant of appropriate times and hours worked in order to keep the nuisance down to a tolerable level for us and our adjacent neighbors who commented more than once about the exemplary job the company was doing and keeping work areas and approaches clean during the process. One neighbor didn't even realize we were building a pool until it was just about finished! The finished product is beautiful and turned out better than we could have hoped for! We would recommend CATAK pools and Mike Smith for anyone who is considering building the pool of your dreams! Thanks again Mike! read more

Got lots to say about Mike at Catak Pools, but the most important to me, is that he won my trust in such a short time. I interviewed at least 7 pool const companies and was very happy that I chose CATAK Pools. I had never done construction before and was very stressed about the project. Mike was patient and worked through my concerns. He is a really nice and honest guy, really went above and beyond to grant my wishes and address my worries. His team was amazing and were all great people as well. Most of them are family businesses who have passed the trade from generation to generation and have been working with Mike for many years. They all respect Mike and made sure I was getting top notch service, even though I probably came off as a high maintenance client. The backyard is beautiful and I still talk to Mike. He always answers my questions and helps me out even though the project has been long done but he still has been coming through. Someone else would be happy to get rid of me lol! The technical side, everything in my backyard was replaced, from the concrete deck, plumbing, electrical, pool equipment, literally everything but the pool shell. We moved the spa to a different end of the pool and raised it. Also added a Baja shelf and added more seating. We put in 3 sheer descents, aqualink automation and ozone system. We chose diamond bright pebble sheen and niche less led pool lights. My pictures don't do it justice! The pool is absolutely gorgeous and we spend time on it every single day! Thank you CATAK Pools!!!! read more

After interviewing and receiving proposals from numerous qualified pool/spa re-modelers, my wife & I chose Mike Smith from CATAK Pools to perform a well over due face lift on our spa and plunge pool. I wanted someone that could handle all aspects of the project and not just portions of it. Mike and his crew does it ALL. Mike's many years of experience and knowledge convinced us that he was the right guy for the job. He was a bit more expensive that other contractors, but I am a believer of "you only get what you pay for". Mike and his crew were on time and they ALL followed up quickly with any concerns that I had throughout the project. My wife says I am a difficult person to work for, but let me tell you, Mike and his team are not satisfied until you are completely satisfied. I want to give a big shout out to everyone that worked on our project from the faux rock/PebbleTec & masonry crew, the plumbers, and the electricians. YOU ALL ROCK!! Scheduling is critical on a project and Mike orchestrates the team like a maestro! Mike's team went over and beyond the call of duty to make things right at every turn of the project. Whenever I had a question for Mike, I would text or email him and he would get back with me instantly. Mike even made sure that the project would be completed in time for the long Labor Day weekend as promised! I would definitely recommend Mike and his crew at CATAK Pools to anyone looking for an honest and reputable contractor to perform their pool/spa re-model. read more

Mike and his team with Catak Pools did an outstanding job. Mike came highly recommended from a family member and now we know why. Our pool project started during the unusually wet and rainy season we had earlier this year. I could easily see where this project could have gone sideways, but not with Catak Pools. They took all of the necessary precautions to make sure that our pool (in various states) did not suffer ill effects of our water soaked backyard. Every crew that was brought in to work on the various stages of the build was professional, courteous and respectful of our yard and of us as homeowners. We could always reach out to Mike with any questions and he would get back to us promptly. A pool is a huge investment and we could not have been happier with the process and the finished product. We recommended Mike and his company to my husband's boss... we wouldn't dare do that if we weren't confident in the quality work! Mike got the job and I will refer him going forward without a doubt. read more

We found Mike after getting a few other bids for a new pool and were impressed from the first meeting. Best decision we ever made was going with Catak Pools. We wanted a smaller builder who would care about their work and customers and I do not think anyone cares more then Mike. From his hard work and persistence on dealing with the City of LA permit process, 10 inches of rain in the middle of a project, we still finished under the time frame he promised with an amazing pool we will use for decades to come. His sub contractors were all professional, on time, cleaned up after themselves, and very polite especially in dealing with children as my kid watched them daily. Any of them I would happily have back. The overall project had all these different components I never even realized, and Mike handled it all. I never felt like oh no what do I do now or how do I handle this, it was all call/text Mike and he will have a solution. I highly recommend Catak Pools and Mike! read more

I highly recommend Catak Pools!! After wasting 6 months with a different contractor, and no progress, we were forced to start the process over and find a new contractor. That turned out to be a big blessing because we found Mike Smith at Catak Pools! Everyone told us, "You have to babysit the project and subs don't show up for weeks at a time etc...", but that couldn't have been farther from the truth with Mike. Not only did the subs come back-to-back, but they were also all family-owned companies that have worked with Mike for 30+ years. Mike is a great communicator, and he made this project seem effortless. We had a vision for what we wanted but his suggestions, ideas and help from the expert subcontractors far exceeded our expectations. The city inspector even raved about 'how nice it turned out.' Super Happy! read more

We had such a great experience with Mike! I have had several nightmare construction stories over the years and this was such a breath of fresh air. Mike communicates and responds like no one else I've ever worked with. He lets you know what to expect and when to expect it and delivered us the amazing pool and BBQ that we had asked for. The quality of his crews from excavation all the way through to masonry and electricians is top notch. Even with Covid delays and supply shortages he was able to complete within the time frame he gave us and with a top notch product. We are thrilled with his work and it was really such an enjoyable experience that we would recommend working with Catak Pools to anyone looking to have a pool installed. read more

We had a horrible experience with our pool builder 2 years ago. We needed cracks in the pool fixed. We were referred to Mike and impressed from day 1. He shows up on time, and does exactly what he promises. He takes pictures of the work and sends it you during the construction. I wish we had him as our original contractor. So pleased with his work and ethics. I highly recommend him for your pool needs. read more
