I would say it tastes similar to Indian cuisine in terms of the use of spices, maybe cumin heavy in particular? My bff and I came as a dinner pitstop on our 6 hour roadtrip, so we arrived at around 9:30pm and we felt safe as two gals in a new place late at night. Locals and owners were so nice. Was looking for a quick dinner spot while we're in Lone Pine and Castro's Taco Stand shows up as one of the highest rated Yelp hotspots so we gotta give it a try! The food truck is hiding inside a shed at the corner of the west Willow & Main Street, you need to look a little harder or you will missed it. We ordered two adobada and two chicharron tacos and they are heavenly! the smell is mouthwatering and the flavor of the meat it just perfect. Wow, pleasantly surprised to find this gem during our quick stop through! We ordered the carne asada plate and shrimp quesadilla. The food came out reasonable quick and meat quality/cook + portion sizes were good. Nice service and there are two portable tables if you're planning to eat there. The carnitas are truly delicious, marinated and fried and tasty crunchy. The burritos are huge will fill you up, plenty of meat in the combination with rice bean and all the fixings you want in a burrito which is easily eaten on the road or the road side picnic tables. We stopped at this food truck to get tacos for dinner when in Lone Pine and we were pleasantly surprised. You can get your food to go or there a couple tables in front of the truck where you can sit and enjoy it. They were out of the shrimp tacos. We got three tacos each couple asada, couple adovada, one carnitas and one chicken and all of them were delicious and filled us up. The red and green salsas were spicy but adding a few drops in each enhanced the flavors. Highly recommend giving them a try when in the vicinity. read more

What brought me here were all the excellent reviews. This place did not disappoint! As soon as I got near the food truck, I could smell the goodness in the air. Brought back childhood memories during my family's trip to deep Mexico. The tacos de asada and adobada are super flavorful, but the asada takes the cake. Came here last night around 6 pm and really enjoyed the food. Quick heads up--they are cash only so come prepared. My fiance and I ordered the shrimp burrito and a shrimp quesadilla. We waited no longer than 5-7 minutes even though there seemed to be a handful of people before us. The shrimp was very tasty and they are very generous with how much shrimp that they give you. My favorite thing about this meal is that their green sauce is a little hotter than your everyday taco truck. This one definitely hit the spot in terms of heat. I came to Alabama Hills for the weekend and of all the food places that we had, I think this one was my personal favorite. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come back here. read more

Pollo Tacos: one of the best chicken tacos I've had, they put like 1/4 lbs of chicken in your taco, meat is freshly cooked, you can taste their perfect seasoning every bite with their unforgettable hot sauce. I'm very satisfied with this taco. Chicken Mulita: their tortilla was perfectly toasted to crisp filled with cheese and flavorful chicken. The juicy chicken paired with mouthful of cheese is to die for. I could not ask for better food for $4.5!! Shrimp taco: shrimps are fresh and meaty! Compared to chicken, shrimp is not as phenomenal. But you will not be disappointed with their jumbo shrimp and creamy sauce! Lastly the asada taco: although this is not as shiny as the other ones, the asada was cooked to perfection! We ordered the carne asada tacos. There was so much tender, juicy carne asada that I made 2 tacos from one. The tortillas were nicely grilled, with the desirable brown toasty spots. The rice was fluffy, properly made Mexican rice accompanied with frijoles refritos. It was the best Mexican food we have ever had in Lone Pine.
