Fantastic food and experience! Tried on a whim after a day at Sequoia, not expecting too much after seeing the Yelp stars, but all expectations were blown out of the water. Staff were immediately welcoming, personable to talk with, patient, and helpful not just to us but all other guests around! We sat at one of the many outdoor patio tables, which made for exactly the relaxing mood we needed. The complimentary fresh chips and salsa were finished before the waiter returned to take our order. Both are clearly made fresh, with the chips being very visibly cut, fried, and seasoned and the salsa being refreshing and slightly spicy. The wet burrito supreme was filled with tender, juicy beef shreds and topped with a red sauce packed with flavor. The chicken and mole was a delightful surprise to see on the menu, and it blew our minds! The thigh, leg, and breast chunk were wonderfully tender but still firm enough to not just become part of the sauce, which was packed with flavor, smokiness, and richness. The beef flautas were admittedly a little hard and the weakest plate on the table, but it was compensated by the rice and beans being nicely seasoned and cooked to the perfect texture/consistency. read more

Casa Mendoza - Chicken and mole - Mexican Near Me - Three Rivers, California

Casa Mendoza is one of the few restaurant options outside of Sequoia National Park and overall, I'd say the service was friendly, but the food runs pretty pricey. Serving sizes on the burritos looked pretty hefty and they do have complimentary chips and salsa. Can get a little crowded on busy weekends, but they do have outdoor seating available as well. They have a shared parking lot with the small grocery store and pizza place next door. Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (2.75/5): The sides of rice and especially beans were actually quite good, but the shrimp themselves were blasted and just overcooked. Rubbery shrimp just isn't the vibe and it's a pretty expensive plate for how much protein you get. Fish Taco (3/5): Objectively, they aren't bad. The fish is flaky and not overcooked, but I was expecting fried fish tacos, not just slabs of tilapia on some corn tortillas. Caldo de Res (4.5/5): Unlike the other items, this soup was INCREDIBLE. Light and perfectly savory. The carrots are soft and the beef ribs are almost melt in your mouth fatty and tender. Would recommend this dish 10x over. read more

After spending a day in Kings Canyon we stopped by casa Mendoza before they closed. We were able to get seating outside quickly. I was able to get flautas. There was a bit of wait since they needed to get some ingredients. Overall the food was great. We got chips and salsa. Then the food came. The flautas were with chicken and rice and beans. There is seating outside and inside. read more

On the way to the giant Sequoias, before entering the park we stopped at Casa Mendoza Mexican restaurant for lunch. We ordered 1/2 Quesadilla, 1 burrito California, 2 crispy taco chicken ala carte, 1 fish taco Ala carte, 1 veggie Tostada flat tortilla on side mild sauce, 2 horchata, 1 orange juice, 1 jarritos. Service was very good. Staff were very friendly. Loved the horchata in the hot afternoon. Fish taco was very yummy. Loved the cheese quesadilla. The portion size was very generous. Loved the ambience. We sat outdoor and loved it. I also liked the interior paintings of the popular scenic views of seqoiua national Park. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. I would visit again too. read more

We stopped by again yesterday when leaving Sequoia National Park, as we usually do, but honestly, I think we just had our best experience ever. There was a lot going on in town, which was shocking but we also came out of the park earlier than we normally do, but amazing enough Casa Mendoza wasn't very busy and we got seated immediately, and we just had the best server that we've ever had there, she was so polite and friendly and crazy efficient with our orders and getting them back to us asap. I didn't wanna fill up on beans and rice so I just went with an à la carte of three crispy tacos, and a tamale. I told her to put them all on one plate when they came out looking like the best à la carte plate I've ever seen; almost as if it was a menu item unto itself. Everything just had so much flavor, and the tamale is definitely in the top two of best tamales I've ever had. We will continue to come here after our Sequoia adventures for hopefully many more years to come read more

The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant had a lovely patio overlooking the river. It was too hot to sit outside though so we sat in. The food was good, there were lots of options. The salsa was nice and spicy. read more

Very great and quick service - even though I was mostly on my phone and even forgot to take a full photo of Chimichanga before I almost finished - trust my word it's great and quite big. Very juicy meat inside - cheese and smth else was there - really good stuff. Crispy wrap - not fried in too much oil for me but just enough. Rice and beans are ok as everywhere - nothing extraordinary, loved guacamole. They do serve complimentary chips and are a very affordable restaurant. Compared to prices in other nearby restaurants and what you get - this one is the best. Atmosphere is ok - just to eat and go, though they do have an outside patio which can be very nice. All in all this restaurant is perfect for those who are just hungry and don't care about the ambiance that much. read more

Our favorite restaurant in three rivers when we went to the national park. The restaurant is quite smoky, so we opted to take to go and wait outside. The restaurant was packed and full of hikers, so expect to wait. Parking lot is big and there are street parking. The food was delicious!! read more

The waiters were really friendly, but the food was mediocre. Not super authentic kind of just a classic American Mexican restaurant.

We had traveled several hours to get to where we were spending the night before exploring Sequoia National Park. We had seen this restaurant on our way to our AirBnB so decided to come back and give it a try. So glad we did! This is a small fun little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside since it was just a little cooler. The service was amazingly friendly and took our orders efficiently and answered all of our questions. I had the taquitos while my friend had a tostada, and we washed both down with their excellent margaritas. The salsa had a little kick, and the guacamole was nice and chunky. The beef in my taquitos could've had maybe just a little more seasoning but overall I thought they were great and well-stuffed. My friend enjoyed her tostada with a side of rice and beans. I always judge Mexican restaurants on how good their rice is and this was done just right with no added vegetables the way abuelita would've made it. We definitely would come back here again. It was one of our favorite places to eat this trip! read more

Yuge portions Free chips and salsa on arrival. Excellent service. We tried the California burrito and a few of their tacos. The burrito is no joke - literally the size of my forearm. It was loaded up with rice, fries, and meat. No veggies, but whatever. Delicious but couldn't finish it. Their tacos were quite good as well - meat came hot off the grill and was tender. Overall, classic fare, great portions, reasonable price. read more

Stopped here for lunch after our trip to the park. We sat outside with great ambiance and the service was quick and kind. The food was delicious, starting with their chips and salsa. The chips were lightly seasoned and the salsa was flavorful. The kids had a good amount of options for food which is nice, other restaurants maybe have 3 or 4. The adult portions were huge! I had the carne and shrimp burrito and the shrimp were big. I didn't know they made burritos that big anymore. We definitely would like to come back next time we're in town read more

Great food after a long day of hiking. Wish they had a full liquor license for a Margherita!

We stopped by after a long drive and were pleasantly surprised. To start off the service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly as soon as we walked in. My sister ordered the chicken flautas, my partner got the burrito with carne asada and shrimp, I got the chimichanga and my sister's boyfriend got the shrimp enchilada. You can decide to order the dish as is or upgrade it to a combo which included the rice and beans. We also got chips and salsa while we waited and they were not stingy! Every time they noticed we were running low they would replace it. It's a cute little area and you can choose to either sit inside or outside. The food was flavorful and we all said we could come again if we ever were nearby again. read more

Absolutely loved our experience at Casa Mendoza! The food here is very tasty-- the chile relleno and chile verde tamale were incredibly flavorful. Great customer service as well! Great tasting food. Just what we wanted after a long day hiking in Sequoia National Park.

Very filling dinner after a long day of hiking! We were sat down immediately, but it did take a while for us to get service unfortunately. They were extremely busy, which is not surprising as there were not many options for Mexican food in town. But we did sit for a long time before getting water. Once we did get a server, she was great and attentive! In terms of the food, it was very decent! My partner really enjoyed the mole on his enchiladas. I thought my chicken verde enchiladas were good as well. We also really liked the salsa, it tasted homemade and fresh. Margaritas were wine-based, of note! read more

The service was great but the food was non edible!! Some of the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten.

The food is way better then some of these reviews say. I feel people are expecting high end LA Mexican food. But for the location the food is good for the price. The service has been great and the patio area gives you a downtown San Diego vibe. I would come here again for sure. if you like Mexican food come on down here this will do just fine! read more

Casa Mendoza - Shredded Beef enchilada, shredded beef taco, refried beans, and Spanish rice - Mexican Near Me - Three Rivers, California

After a mountain down disappointment , that River View Grills 9pm kitchen close really meant 8pm , we went to Mendoza and happily took us in at 8:65. What an amazing surprise ! The food was fantastic with a really deep menu with every protein you could hope for, carnitas, chile verde, chile colorado and many specials. Added frosty mugs for the cerveza and our sweet served and I was in heaven. I live in LA and this blows away many of the well known spots. With amazing prices too for those used to city dweller prices. Cheat code: The 3 Item special can feed 2 adults . Went with the shredded beef enchiladas and Burrito. The carne asada taco was huge but I'd recommend other items on the menu. This place would triple their indoor business if they changed to dimmable 2700-3000k lights and turn up the fun music for gringos. But the outside patio well worth it. The server was amazing and when I told her this was better than most in LA , she responded with a quiet confidence "yeah, I know" Cheat code 2: this is literally next door to the main grocery and liquor store (which closes at 10) so if you want to eat late , and not stress about groceries. You can pop over during or after the meal. Will be back read more

Food was so-so and don't use your debit card--seems like someone there took a picture of it and had fraudulent activity on my card.

I typically don't write reviews. But my family came to visit the Sequoia Natural Park. The food is great and in large portions. I ordered the carne asada with shrimp burrito and it was delish! I was very pleasantly surprised by this place ! I honestly didnt have high hopes because we're in the middle of nowhere and being from Texas, my bar is pretty high. But the salsa was perfectly salted, fresh, and had great flavor. The enchilada sauce was very flavorful and wasn't excessively sour like it sometimes can be. The rice was a bit undercooked, but that pales in comparison to the rest of the food. The staff was also very nice and helpful. They were sweet and quick. read more

Food was bland. Chips were cold and had zero flavor. The service mediocre at best. Flies were everywhere.

A bunch of us ate here yesterday. On the plus side, this is dog friendly, and our waitress was friendly and helpful. I did find gluten free vegetarian options. The refried beans are vegetarian but the rice is cooked in chicken broth. The food was plentiful but dull - even the hot sauces were bland and not very interesting. My friend ordered fish tacos but was unhappy because the fish was not battered and fried. The guacamole to me was the stand out item - really tasty with a hint of lemon. read more
