We stopped by again yesterday when leaving Sequoia National Park, as we usually do, but honestly, I think we just had our best experience ever. There was a lot going on in town, which was shocking but we also came out of the park earlier than we normally do, but amazing enough Casa Mendoza wasn't very busy and we got seated immediately, and we just had the best server that we've ever had there, she was so polite and friendly and crazy efficient with our orders and getting them back to us asap. I didn't wanna fill up on beans and rice so I just went with an à la carte of three crispy tacos, and a tamale. I told her to put them all on one plate when they came out looking like the best à la carte plate I've ever seen; almost as if it was a menu item unto itself. Everything just had so much flavor, and the tamale is definitely in the top two of best tamales I've ever had. We will continue to come here after our Sequoia adventures for hopefully many more years to come read more

Stopped here for lunch after our trip to the park. We sat outside with great ambiance and the service was quick and kind. The food was delicious, starting with their chips and salsa. The chips were lightly seasoned and the salsa was flavorful. The kids had a good amount of options for food which is nice, other restaurants maybe have 3 or 4. The adult portions were huge! I had the carne and shrimp burrito and the shrimp were big. I didn't know they made burritos that big anymore. We definitely would like to come back next time we're in town read more

Very great and quick service - even though I was mostly on my phone and even forgot to take a full photo of Chimichanga before I almost finished - trust my word it's great and quite big. Very juicy meat inside - cheese and smth else was there - really good stuff. Crispy wrap - not fried in too much oil for me but just enough. Rice and beans are ok as everywhere - nothing extraordinary, loved guacamole. They do serve complimentary chips and are a very affordable restaurant. Compared to prices in other nearby restaurants and what you get - this one is the best. Atmosphere is ok - just to eat and go, though they do have an outside patio which can be very nice. We had traveled several hours to get to where we were spending the night before exploring Sequoia National Park. We had seen this restaurant on our way to our AirBnB so decided to come back and give it a try. So glad we did! This is a small fun little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside since it was just a little cooler. The service was amazingly friendly and took our orders efficiently and answered all of our questions. I had the taquitos while my friend had a tostada, and we washed both down with their excellent margaritas. The salsa had a little kick, and the guacamole was nice and chunky. The beef in my taquitos could've had maybe just a little more seasoning but overall I thought they were great and well-stuffed. My friend enjoyed her tostada with a side of rice and beans. I always judge Mexican restaurants on how good their rice is and this was done just right with no added vegetables the way abuelita would've made it. We definitely would come back here again. We stopped by after a long drive and were pleasantly surprised. To start off the service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly as soon as we walked in. My sister ordered the chicken flautas, my partner got the burrito with carne asada and shrimp, I got the chimichanga and my sister's boyfriend got the shrimp enchilada. You can decide to order the dish as is or upgrade it to a combo which included the rice and beans. We also got chips and salsa while we waited and they were not stingy! Every time they noticed we were running low they would replace it. It's a cute little area and you can choose to either sit inside or outside. Let me begin stating options in Three Rivers are limited. You'll find several of the places listed in Yelp are not currently open for business and probably permanently closed. Not my place to make that declaration. So we hadn't set out to eat Mexican food as we have plenty of it in our home town. This place was a pleasant surprise when we "Settled" for Mexican. First off, the place is sizable with a large patio if you want to eat outdoors but plenty of comfortable booth space inside. We chose inside because it was cooling off. The woman who greeted and sat us I presume to be the owner. She was very friendly and happy to answer our questions. One was whether they serve breakfast items all day, they do. I ordered the chile verde dinner. Every place has their spin on this dish. I liked the flavor. I would have preferred the pork to have been cooked down further and more tender. It came with rice, beans and choice of flour or corn tortillas. Many places don't include that anymore. Likewise we were given chips and salsa when we were seated. Both very good and not every place does that anymore. We'll go back when we're visiting Three Rivers to see what else their menu offers. read more

After a mountain down disappointment , that River View Grills 9pm kitchen close really meant 8pm , we went to Mendoza and happily took us in at 8:65. What an amazing surprise ! The food was fantastic with a really deep menu with every protein you could hope for, carnitas, chile verde, chile colorado and many specials. Added frosty mugs for the cerveza and our sweet served and I was in heaven. I live in LA and this blows away many of the well known spots. With amazing prices too for those used to city dweller prices. Cheat code: The 3 Item special can feed 2 adults . Went with the shredded beef enchiladas and Burrito. The carne asada taco was huge but I'd recommend other items on the menu. This place would triple their indoor business if they changed to dimmable 2700-3000k lights and turn up the fun music for gringos. But the outside patio well worth it. The server was amazing and when I told her this was better than most in LA , she responded with a quiet confidence "yeah, I know" Cheat code 2: this is literally next door to the main grocery and liquor store (which closes at 10) so if you want to eat late , and not stress about groceries. A bunch of us ate here yesterday. On the plus side, this is dog friendly, and our waitress was friendly and helpful. I did find gluten free vegetarian options. The refried beans are vegetarian but the rice is cooked in chicken broth. The food was plentiful but dull - even the hot sauces were bland and not very interesting. It is family friendly and wheelchair accessible. The food was below average Tex-Mex, definitely NOT "authentic" Mexican Cuisine. The chips were a mix of chili & salt and plain. The salsa and chips were just ok. Shrimp Cocktail was prepared with shrimp cooked in plain water and add catsup and other ingredients. My husband didn't like it. The fish taco was bland - it had no taste, the same with the green salsa on it. The tortillas used for the taco were stiff/hard. I ordered the green chili, dinner combination. I didn't like any of it. I really tried to keep an open mind, but it wasn't good. I did like the "agua fresca" de jamaica, but I think it was prepared from powder mix. They have. Stumbled upon this cute little place after going to the market next door. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio was gorgeous with white lights. We walked up around 8pm on a Saturday and they were super friendly and seated us right away (without hesitation, even though they close at 830pm). Stopped by here after a full day of hiking through the sequoia national forest, and it hit the spot! We had no clue what to expect and this Mexican restaurant is really a hidden gem! I had the carnitas plate and it was delicious, soft and tender but full of flavor. The wife had a Chile Relleno and enchilada combo also very delicious, my daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and that was on point too! Service was fantastic, light and funny but very detailed and very thorough with our order. We sat outside just because it was such nice evening out, but they do offer both inside and outside seating.
