On a very hot day, it was so nice to walk into the restaurant and enjoy their air conditioning, which felt like a breath of fresh air. The place was getting busy, but our service remained good, and our food came out quickly. Everything we ordered was tasty. I didn't manage to finish my meal, so I took it to go and enjoyed it the next day. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was still delicious. I placed an order repeated it 4 times literally 2 cheese enchiladas and 2 beef enchiladas they served all beef then claimed i ordered it that way. No I didn't. That wasn't the bad part it was the female employees attitude that was bad. We may have had a slight language issue but I cant help that. I speak English and I tried very hard to make her understand. So. Here's the issue with Los Panchos. The food is soo good. However, service is not great. Each time we order Togo. It's almost always wrong when we get it home or missing items. They often understaff the poor waitress and she is always running around. Sometimes you can see the owner or other workes (men) sitting around not helping. I couldn't wait to come on here and rave about this place. My finance and I came to eat here after our hike at Sequoia National Park and let me tell you I was extremely pleased with our choice. This is real authentic flavorful Mexican food. There was only one server helping the entire establishment and she did an amazing job. At first I was a little skeptical. The place was a little small, no one greeted or seated us and the menus were a little hard to read. So I asked the waiter for his recommendation. He recommended the Chile Verde and I ordered that with corn tortillas. The next 15-20 minutes changed my life. This had to be the best Mexican dish that I had ever eaten. I was at a loss for words. This is a very good restaurant. As you enter the restaurant you see a very warm, clean and comfortable place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We met the owners who were very gracious and welcoming. We each ordered a different meal. When you come to this restaurant make sure you are hungry. The portion sizes are very generous and beautifully presented. My husband ordered a barbacoa plate that came with rice and beans. I ordered a la carte. My dinner choices were a carne asada tostada, a cheese enchilada, and a carne asada taco. An interesting choice on the menu was a Los Panchos breakfast plate with two eggs, grilled onions, a grilled steak, rice and beans. The corn and flour tortillas are home made and delicious. I've been a regular customer at Los Panchos for years. The food is consistently amazing. You can't go wrong eating here because everything is good. The Chile verde is the best in town. The shrimp ceviche and steak fajitas are my favorite. The salsa for the chips is very good. Spicy at times but good. It's a small place but very clean and the service is good. Not terrible. Just not great either. The decor looks like it could use some work as it feels like a somewhat unfinished restaurant. I know we tend to classify a lot of restaurants as "holes in the wall" but this just feels like they don't put much stock in ambiance at all. Also...although the server was friendly and efficient it took a good 30 minutes for me to get my soup and that just too long to wait. Especially at lunch when you run the risk of being late getting back to work. Now for the positives...the salsa in the chips and salsa was delicious and the chips were fresh and nicely salted. The Albondigas soup was one of the best I've had in recent memory with nice flavor and an abundance of meatballs. The 3 enchilada combo I took to go was as good as any I've had. So if they can work out some of their issues with getting food out of the kitchen in a timely manner and maybe work a little on the physical appearance of the restaurant then I feel this establishment would merit a much higher score. read more
