The ambiance is like a hole in the wall, but do not judge a book by its cover. The service is fast too! So, onto the goodies. I ordered the carnè asada burrito with both red and green chili. It had beans, rice, and cilantro inside! You can also request for cheese. The burrito had authentic Mexican flavors! Unlike the typical Karen burrito from California tortilla. I've lived in Exeter a long time and went to high school and loved going to lunch and getting a bean and cheese burrito. I've loved the easy chill vibe of the restaurant and the few gentleman that work there are great. With my last 2 experiences with ordering food from the ladies that work there has not been pleasant. I normally call in my orders and each time the women are rude and give attitude. They also speak Spanish to each other when I go pick up my food. I don't speak Spanish so I don't know what is being said but it seems negative towards me each time. Ordered a carne asada burrito with everything and that was absolutely delicious with the red sauce. Red sauce was spicy and had amazing flavor but two only issue I had was I asked for four sauces and they only offered me two. No option given to pay for extra. Great food though. read more

We were on our way to Sequoia and wanted to pick up some thing for lunch to take to the park. Everywhere in town was closed for the holiday but thankfully Baja Mex was open. They are cash only and we only had a $20 bill. The owners were very kind and helped us figure out how to spread our cash three ways for our meals. We are not usually in this type of bind, but we're grateful for their kindness. We ordered three types of burritos and they were all fantastic! All three of us have a bit of a different taste for something and we were all very grateful for our meals. I make it my Goal in life to find the best bean and cheese burritos whenever I travel somewhere or move somewhere new and without even having to search, I found my new favorite in the Central Valley. I will definitely be making the drive here again just for their kindness and the food. Their salsas are also fantastic. Once you have had Baja Mex tacos you won't be able to get tacos anywhere else. They use the best meat, it's not the typical cheap taco meat it is lean with no grizzle. The owner has paired different toppings depending on what taco you order, the asada taco comes with onion and cilantro the shredded beef has cheddar cheese and tomatoes. The tacos are great, I have also had the burritos they are the same deliciousness. Tiny little hole in the wall places, are usually amazing, and this place is no exception. The prices are good and the food is drool worthy. Love their loaded taquitos,burritos, and tostadas. We passed through Exeter this morning after a few days in Sequoia and were craving some good old fashioned burritos. We lucked out. We ordered a breakfast burrito and a bean/cheese burrito. The refried beans were super tasty, fresh cheese, and the tortilla was warmed up to that perfect temp on the grill. Really hit the spot! Breakfast burrito was even better! Super friendly folks. Had them hold cilantro, and cabbage. chicken kind of rubbery.. I def would recommend the Asada Tacos. Why not 5 stars? Menu said $1.60 per Taco. X 4? = $6.40 + 8% sales tax = $6.91. Mexican food homemade style. A tat bit over-priced but if your craving the taste of burritos I suggest Baja Mex. The burritos are huge and stuffed unlike Taco Bell, so its honestly worth the money. They get pretty crowded around lunch time. The building, if you want to call it that, is VERY tiny. It pretty much contains the kitchen in the back and the counter and register near the entrance. There isnt anywhere to sit inside. All the chairs and tables are outside. The staff is awesome. Very friendly and nice! Baja Mex is just one of those places I grew up with and I will always suggest it to visitors traveling through our small town of Exeter. read more

My favorite Mexican food in the whole world! Small, family-owned business. This family has been running it for years and know what they are doing! I have been coming here since high school, and now that I work at the same high school I try to come every few weeks (I have to limit myself or else I'd come every day!) it gets super busy with high school kids at lunch time, but they let you go straight to the front of the line if you come at that time. And 2 of there young kids where running around with no shoes and they let there kids rub there dirty feet on top of the table. I can imagine how they prepare the food. My daughter's been begging me to try out their food here in town at the Baja Mex and we just visit the family owned restaurant yesterday. I was very eager because upon waiting for our orders I can smell something delicious being cooked up. I ordered the Chile relleno an sope and my husband grabbed nachos supreme while my daughter ordered her fave the burrito with rice beans and asada. I was very pleased. The food was hot n fresh and taste soooo good. For being quite affordable I was well a lil shocked that it was as affordable but happy cuz it is good food.
