I grew up in porterville & used to come here as a kid/teen Food was ok then.. Came back as an adult and brought my husband for the 1st time.. We were absolutely PLEASED & SATISFIED with what we ordered! The Chile verde burrito was Exactly what I was craving & it hit every point for me I just asked for sour cream! Ambiance was cool. Very family friendly, maybe 2 families in there before us & more people showed up after we arrived. I love the salsa bar they have! & ALSO, DON'T FORGET IT IS ALSO A BAKERY!! Pretty daNg Good!! I ordered a chile verde burrito with Asada. Hearty portion but the asada wasn't the best of choice. They do have great service and plenty of seating. The location is an Hacienda style setting with great menu options. I noticed they had a bakery/panaderia inside. I tried my favorite, the elotito, and it was soft and all their breads are freshly made there as well. I also tried the tres-leches cake and unfortunately was totally disappointed as it had a sour taste of almost spoiled milk. Hence the 3 star rating. read more

This place use to be my favorite but I've noticed over the years it has gotten worse. First of all, the food isn't that great anymore. And if that was my only complain I wouldn't be writing this. Not only was there a hair in my food but also a roach. And the people who work at the register, just know while you're trying to order they're either going to be on their phone or talking about "drama" with the other workers. Had a craving for a torta today to break the seeming monotony of the traditional sandwich places and Chaguito's came to mind. This Porterville Mexican restaurant/bakery may make the best ones in Tulare County. The picture does not do the size and girth of this amazing sandwich justice....it's HUGE! Also the bread was as about as perfect as you can get for what can be a sloppy and messy torta. Went in today with my wife because we were tired of eating fast food and we had to catch a movie at 7pm and we were in the neighborhood and decided to try it. My wife order a sope de asada with everything and I order a burrito de asada and the meat wasn't even asada it looked more like pulled beef. The food was greasy as hell I couldn't even finish the burrito and to top it off it gave me and my wife the bubble guts and now I'm sitting here in the damn toilet flushing out my whole damn stomach. They also need to get a trap for Flys because we couldn't eat in Peace because we kept on swatting the Flys away from our food. Never going to that place again. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I gave them a 1star just for the fuck of it. I wish I couldn't given them any stars at all. Horrible place to eat. read more

This place is straight fire even though I wish they had their old panadero or his recipes still being produced. Got an asada burrito and Chile verde off the chain. The chile verde comes wet style with cheese on top, with lots of rice that's kindve broken up in a good way. It's not oily or greasy and it seems like there's enough pork to be satisfied. My girlfriend couldn't finish the asada burrito and she usually can eat a whole burrito - so these are big and very tasty ones for a good price. I also recommend the sopes, the tortas, and all the different types of meat here. It's very good this place has kept up their quality , style and taste for so long. Came here bc it was highly rated with 5 stars and had over 100 reviews. Ordered 5 tacos, 2 lengua, 1 buche, 1 tripas, 1 asada. To my surprise this place uses semi regular size tortillas for the tacos instead of the mini taco tortillas one is used too. Unfortunately the size does not make up for the taste and flavor of the food. The lengua was bland ( still haven't found a joint that actually puts flavor or even salt on lengua). I will give it to them, the lengua was tender. The buche was ok and I do recognize buche tacos are not for everyone so I will give them a 2.5 on that taco. As I continued my taco expedition at Chaguito's, I was taken aback by the tripas taco. Of all the 5 tacos I had, this one was the more flavorful. The tripas were tender and not burned like so many other places do to try and give customers "crunchy" tripas that end up tasting like burnt motor oil. The asada taco was.......an afterthought to say the least. Overall, this is really a 2.5 star place and I have no clue how people even give this place a 5....really says more about the lack of taste buds in people than the place itself. The fact that I almost forgot they have a side bar for salsas says so much about the tastelessness, watery, and flavorless nature of the salsa that I found the pan dulce more interesting and unforgettable. I went with my mom and my grandparents and they had told us we could only do To go and they where 45 minutes till closing and they told us we couldn't eat there and the worker at the bakery told us we could eat there and then when we sat to eat are food they turned off the lights on us and threw a spoon at my mom when she was trying to get salsa and they kept telling us stuff while we where eating and there where still a lot of people coming in and then when my mom went to the restroom they where talking loudly about her and being very disrespectful and laughing at us and we where only trying to eat are dinner never again. read more

Chaguito's was a regular stop for me before Covid/quarantine. However, I didn't visit after quarantine. I decided to buy some food there. There is a difference. The food tastes different now. I used to get tacos de lengua or rolled tacos. But after eating some tacos de lengua, it wasn't good. It tasted bland and a little burned. Their tacos de lenguas don't taste as good compared to previous years. I recommend eating rolled tacos at the restaurant instead of taking them home if you order them. After you bring them home, they become soggy as soon as you eat them if you order with everything; if not, they're okay. read more
