I am looking for the best breakfast burrito and everyone said I needed to come here. They allow you to customize your order and I didnt get that at first. $13 for the burrito seemed high bacon, eggs, potatoes, and rice. There was a lot of filling but for some reason it fell apart and ended up eating with a fork. Taste A+, ease of eating C, value C. There is much more on the menu to try. Loved they gave me 3 salsa without having to ask or pay extra. read more

The food is always delicious and the service is great. We didn't have to wait even though there was a lot of people. The ambiance is okay but can get noisy at times. MOTHER's DAY 2025 -- 3 Menudos. 2 Wet Shredded Beef Burritos. 1 Shredded Beef Enchilada and 1 Cheese Enchilada with Rice and Beans. $101.00 -- WORTH EVERY PENNY !! This establishment remains consistent in quality ingredients and the tastiness one would expect in a much more expensive restaurant. Thank You on behalf of my Mom and entire family. read more

The food tasted really great and the price was reasonable. We picked up to go. The enchilada sauce here is very good.

I've eaten here for 20 years. I haven't eaten here in a while since I have moved. I ordered 10 tacos and two drinks and my order came out to $51 dollars. I asked if it was right and the cashier told me each taco is 3.59 a piece. What the fuck? That is literally twice as much as the price use to be. It's ridiculous. I will never come again. No taco is worth $3.60. I'll go to taco trucks. read more

Will never order from there again!!!!!!! read more

TWO HAIRS !!! We always look forward to Thursdays special- Chile Verde Burrito with a large drink. Except for today's burrito, got it to go for my hungry husband's dinner, Only to cut into a pull out a hair about 8-10 inches long...then, as moving food around more, another hair same length!!! I called El Jacalito and told them what I found... they told me to bring the burrito back with the hairs, (for proof?) so I dug it out of trash and drove back to town and opened the box for them to see and they didn't say anything. I told them I was going to take a picture to do a review of what happened, they brought me another burrito and I told them I didn't want to drive back home to give my husband another burrito with a hair, so I cut it open and was satisfied with it and then repacked it and asked them if there's anything else they would do for my inconvenience.... they just stood there, so I turned to leave and that was when they said they were sorry. So, needless to say they should have done more to accommodate us because we have been loyal customers for years! Now going to look for another place for Chile Verde burritos, anyone have a recommendation? Thank for rea read more

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants that we have here in Porterville. I love getting their green Chilaquiles. They are packed with flavor, and the chips aren't super soggy from all the sauce. If you want the best most high ingredient food I highly recommend coming here. read more

We had an impromptu Christmas dinner for 11 people. I called in the morning for a reservation the day of. The server was a kind, professional young lady. She had the table set when we got there and was so attentive to our party. The food was superb and service was 10 stars. I highly recommend this resturant. read more

This is my go-to spot for breakfast burritos, chicken chimichangas; bacon, egg, potato and cheese breakfast burritos; and carne asada fries with Jamaica. The portions are HUGE for the price and the food is always fresh and hot. The Breakfast burritos are thicc and have cuts of perfectly cooked chunky bacon, fluffy eggs, melty cheese and crisp potatoes. The chimichanga combination is loaded and comes with a light salad on the side with rice and beans. Their Jamaica is usually on point and refreshing. The staff is always friendly and attentive. El Jacalito is my favorite. read more

The customer service and delivery! Don't tell some one 45 min then deliver 1.5 hrs later it was Ice cold, excuse was I had other deliveries and you had two drop offs, it does not take 45 mins from east side to the west side of town. They did not take ownership. I always tip good and was going to tip her good for taking two deliveries. And some may say it was not her fault. She was the one that took the order and told me the time and then took no ownership when she came to deliver she blamed me, I almost didn't accept the food But the people it was for were hungry so I did. Not all the waitresses some are really good and they always help us. They're my favorite but some of the waitresses think they own the place they talk down to people. It's really insulting and I was just tired of it today so I will be calling the owner tomorrow because this was not acceptable to receive cold food that you then have to reheat. I love this place and turned many of my friends over to it from the other Mexican restaurants in town but if the waitress continue they will run people out!! read more

Food is good and fresh, however, sometimes it is cold by the time you make it home even when you're going directly home.

Will not honor the 20% off check in offer. Not a good way to run a business. Under new ownership is not an excuse. If you know there is a 20% off offer on Yelp, then you need to take it down. Losing customers by not honoring discounts is not cool. It's called false advertising and could also be referred to weights and measures. (see photo) read more

Super good authentic Mexican Food. The chile verde is our favorite and the carne asada tacos are also very good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. One negative, If you get delivery, please make sure they don't spill your food all over. read more

Great food, friendly service, clean atmosphere, great ambience, family friendly and family run. Close to Sierra View hospital. The Wet Burritos and Chimichanga Combination plates are huge. They bring out free chips and salsa to your table. They make the chips fresh in their restaurant and the salsa has a roasted smoky taste to it. They have average size drink cups in house, but if you ask for a to go cup it is a lot bigger and they give you one free refill when you eat inside. Also make sure you check in on Yelp for a 20% discounted offer on your order! read more

This place is lousy. Bad food, bad salsa, thumbs down all around. They use low quality meat, the carne asada had a bad aftertaste. Bad quality plus bad cooking, definitely bad results. El Tapatio is MUCH better for a little more. Definitely will not be back. read more

Good carne asada tacos , other than that everything else is bad, burrito was greasy and you get a stomach ache after. Overpriced for a taco of shrimp is $6 and they only put 3 shrimp. My rating is based on the quality of the food from my group of four people. The service was average. The bathroom was clean. At the beginning, the chips were stale. I wanted to eat the chips but it was noticeable that the chips were left out of the bag and served to my group. We ordered different dishes and every person in my group said the meat had poor flavor, the rice was crunchy and the beans tasted old. Rice should never be crunchy. There are many places where there is a few crunchy bites of rice that is still unappealing to eat. However when all the rice is crunchy that is just unacceptable. The sopes were stale and hard to bite into and the carne asada tasted as if had been reheated too many times. Prior to my visit last week, this was a favorite place to stop by and eat. However it has been at least 2 years since I have been back. The quality of food has dropped terribly. It seems that the management is cutting back on the quality of food for more profit now. read more

Horrible food. I got a burrito & it was sooooo greasy I couldn't even eat it. I took all the greasy off that I could. Still couldn't eat it. Ate a small piece of it. Made me sick. I tried just a piece of meat and there was no seasoning. It was bland My mom said her plate was not good either. She said just the salsa was good. I'll never go there again. I was so disappointed with the food here. The enchiladas are tiny, the rice is over cooked, and the salsa is bland. They do make the chips fresh, but they're still drenched in oil. Today, I tried this place for the first time. A coworker recommended it, and it sounded really good. To start, the salsa was fresh and had an awesome taste, with a little kick at the end. El Jacalito - Tasty chili verde wet burrito. Stop by when in porterville, next to porterville high school. - Mexican Near Me - Porterville, California

This place has the worst service! I sometimes eat there during my lunch hour, since I work in Porterville. Today I sat outside because the weather is warm outside. A young skinny waitress comes over and asks "for here or to go?" I say for here, and she walked off. No drink order. She comes back five minutes later and asked if I was ready to order. I place my order and ask for salsa, and lemons on the side. I even repeat it, as did she. When a tattooed woman waitress brings my food, it had neither lemons nor salsa on the side. I ask for a refill, she takes my cup and NEVER brought it back. I go inside to pay 15 minutes later with the same tattooed waitress. I ask if I can have a to go cup, because she forgot to bring my refill. She looks right at me, no apology- nothing. The thing that really bothered me was that a white family also ate outside, and the same skinny Hispanic waitress checked on them three times to see if they needed anything else, but never check on me. I always leave tips, so I would think that they'd at least do the bare minimum in providing service (checking on me, if I need anything, refill). But they didn't check on me, not once. The girl with the glasses is the only good one there, but she wasn't there today. I've had substandard service there in the past, but always gave it another chance after several weeks. I even went during the past year when people were scared to eat out. Today - that ENDS. I'll never visit that restaurant AGAIN. I'll go to taco rico across the street instead. read more
