I would give this place zero stars if I could. This place used to be good. But in the past several years, it's completely gone downhill both in customer service, quality of the food, & its pricing. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, however the prices continue to rise. What you are served is definitely not worth what Azul's charges you. This place used to be a regular go-to spot for myself when I am in Visalia, which is quite often. My sister & her husband were weekly regulars there & were (allegedly) friends with the owner. The last several times I've been there for a meal with my sister & BIL the owner has come over to say hello, but she has not seemed genuine or at all happy to see my sister & BIL. Instead, her "hellos" & the quick small talk that is expected of an owner greeting their regulars seemed incredibly forced & just completely inorganic. It was like she did not want us there, found it annoying that we were there, & did not appreciate our business at all. That made me feel very uncomfortable. The last time my family was there, it was my sister, mother, & their friend (a Visalia local) that were dining in. My mother picked up the check & paid by debit card & rounded up the just under $70 bill to $90 for the tip. When she looked at her bank statement a few days later, she discovered that the server had charged $100. My mom called my sister, who told her to call the owner & let her know what happened to make it right. They were trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time knew the chances of an experienced server mistaking a 2-digit total for a 3-digit total is highly unlikely. When my mother called the restaurant to speak to the owner, she kept my mother waiting on hold for the longest time. After the owner finally did come to the phone, she was very rude to my mom: didn't say hello or ask how she was. The owner completely dismissed the occurrence, saying that the server who ran the card was one of her best girls & longest employees & that there was no way that could have happened. The way she spoke to my mother, it was like she was trying to make my mother feel like it was her fault, & was making an issue out of nothing. My mom assured her that she had copies of the receipt with the correct total, to which the owner rudely said something like "okay, so what now? You want the $10 back?" completely dismissively. My mother tried to be polite--as this was a "friend" of my sister's & my sister & BIL were still at that point regulars--so she said the next time they came in to dine, they could discount that tab by $10. Obviously, that never happened. When my BIL found that out, he & my sister both decided they would no longer give their business to such a place. None of us have been back since. I do not recommend eating here. You will get mediocre food at an expensive price tag. Plus you will run the risk of dishonest servers over tipping themselves under the protection of an owner who clearly does not care & puts her customers down. Asked for well done fajitas. Repeatedly make sure they are well done. Lady says yes sir I will make sure it's well done. Got the food home the peppers onion and tomato looked like they had hardly touched the heat. We used to love the fajitas but lately the vegetables are raw. I will find a restaurant that will cook my food the way I ask and not lie about making sure it is cooked right. read more

Food was delicious, fresh, good portions for the price. Biggest con was that there was no drink menu and the prices were a surprise. A margaritas was about $16 which felt pretty steep. For 6 of us the bill was over $250 with tip, and we didn't order anything too fancy, just tacos and enchiladas. It was yummy and a good meal, but felt over priced. Servers were very friendly and made great food recommendations. The inside was chilly so I recommend bringing a hoodie, they do not skimp on ac! The best tasting Mexican food in Visalia hands down! This is not taco truck food ok folks. This is premium, authentic-grandmas recipes Mexican food! I recommend the fillet relleno ( homemade tortillas) , tacos puntas asada, chilaquiles verde, queso fundido, ceviche azul, fajitas azul, chile relleno de camarón...... just to name a few They also cater and have a large, beautiful patio and bar! Lydia that works the bar area and is also the bartender makes the best margaritas! They aren't cheap but has all the garnish. Like their Taco Wednesday and get their fish tacos. Ask for the green salsa, that works the best with the fish! Today it was 107' degrees in Visalia, CA so I wanted to have something cool & refreshing! I chose to get their 3 combination of shrimp, octopus, and abalone!! Not often you see abalone on the menu. Started with cheese and chicken quesadilla to have as an appetizer. Lydia is fast & attentive watching over the whole bar. Restaurant area was full tonight with a couple of parties. Not the best experience. The one bright side was it was Friday night and busy but they sat us right away. To start we did get chips and salsa quickly but then it went downhill. We ordered drinks and waters. I'll chalk it up to not being a regular, but the couple that came in 10/15 mins after got their drinks before us (both water and bar drinks). No one came to check on us for about 20 mins but the couple next to us was chatted up and hugged, then greeted by 4 different staff members. Finally got our drinks and they were wrong. We had to stop someone to take our order. I might be petty for counting but we were checked on once, the other couple I counted 10 times; they were literally 4ft away from us. With all that said, ambiance was nice, the chile verde I ordered was not spicy, more sweet but I will say still good. Portions were a little small but enough. Flautas were 6/10. Bar drink was 4/10. Not sure if I come back as I'm closer to other Mexican restaurants and I'd figured I would give this a try read more

Had Delicious Fajitas at Azul tonight. My wife ordered a margarita. About a 8 to 10 ounce glass, Filled with solid ice. You couldn't even taste any Tequila. Yet who knows what brand tequila they use. With all the ice the drink tasted weak and watered down. When our bill came, it was listed as a 16oz Margarita which we didn't order. We asked our server if the bartender made a mistake. He said we only have one size margaritas and it's 16oz. Needless to say it's not 16oz. Even if it was, it wasn't worth $15.00. We have the same glasses at home. We measured the amount of water. 10oz without the ice. A total ripoff. Go to Azul for the food, Definitely not for their watered down margaritas. Almost the price of our food. We went to Azul on a Sunday after church, it was a large group but reservations were made so they were expecting us along with their regular Sunday business. We waited over 2 hours before we even started to see the food start to come out. The food came out very randomly, very slowly, many of the party was done eating while others just sat and waited. We will not be returning here again. The food was ok, nothing to get excited about. I ordered a very basic margarita on the rocks, it was $17. Not even a big glass. The food we ordered was nothing complicated.Basic beans and rice, with like enchiladas or Chile verde, etc. Why over 2 hours to even see food was ridiculous. One staff lady at the end said oh sorry about the wait, you guys should have got the "taco bar" or something like that for a big party!!! Like what?? We saw a young couple sit for over an hour waiting and they just got up and walked out. Other tables were 2 or 3 people and they waited over an hour at least. Unbelieveable! read more

When you first walk in your welcomed with a nice hello. But then you realize the place is dark and quiet . You get bean dip and salsa and chips when you first sit down . But when it comes to a drink menus they don't have any but they have a full bar . They have a nice choice of food but when you get your food it's either cold or incorrect . The drinks were water down and they charged us 14.00 for a drink that they don't even have a menu for . The food isn't authentic , it's Americanized and not good at all . Pomegranate margarita served in a 6-8oz glass (half or less than a 16 oz beer glass. When bill came it was $17 . Absolutely ridiculous . Also a Dos Equis was $9. Go elsewhere. read more

Came with a party of 4 and split a shrimp appetizer and 2 entrees (steak picado and mixed fajitas), small portions of protein in both of them unfortunately. 1 star review stems from the drink prices. We asked for a drink menu when we arrived and were told that they didn't have one (and drinks were not included on the regular menu). Not an issue normally, and we ordered a round of Cadillac margaritas for the table, and then got a light beer and a skinny margarita after. Once we received the bill realized that the Cadillacs were $20 each (as much as an individual entree) and the skinny margarita was $18 (the same cost as the appetizer). Very disappointed that the drinks were so much more than expected for the area and the cost was not acknowledged beforehand. The total bill was $180 which is way too much for the quality of food and drinks. Would not return. read more

The soup was perfect for a cold night. It was suggested to add a toasted/ground chili powder made in-house for the soup. If you like a very hot soup, highly recommend. It added flavor and awesome heat. I paired it with a raspberry margarita, so good! read more

Went here for dinner with friends and got seated right away on a Friday night. Staff was friendly and attentive. It was a bit hot considering we were inside and far away from the kitchen and they kept the place very dark. Margarita selection is probably one of the best in Tulare County offering both on the rocks and blended options on all their margaritas. Our table ordered the Fajita Azul, Chili Verde and Chimichurri Steak. Everything came out quick and tasted amazing. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I'm sure we will be back. read more

Just went to Azul on my lunch hour with coworkers. Warning.... If you only have a one-hour lunch think twice about eating here. If you are on a budget, think twice about eating here. Charged me an extra $3 for meat when the menu says it's included in the price. I admit, because this was a birthday celebration, most of us ordered a regular margarita. My tab....a little over $30!!! Price for margarita, $16! Service was 1-1/2 hrs. with no check in from waitress to see if everything was okay. I am a avid going out to eat and find that gem. I still haven't found it but I'm sure it's gonna be soon! When we got there, there were a couple people at the bar a church group and us. A few more came about 5-10 mins after, so it wasn't busy. We sat, and sat and sat. After about 30-40 mins of waiting for our drinks. We FINALLY got to order ..... just our drinks tho. After sitting for an additional hour and half. We finally got our food after 2 hrs and it was cold, horrible and for it being the 1st time there. Disappointing. I wont be back. Mediocre food and terrible service. Our party didn't really mind because we were enjoying ourselves and talking. But I minded, the food time took over an hour for a chimichanga, 3 burritos, quesadillas and drinks. I asked on many occasions for them politely change the channel to the 49ers game. This is a great little neighborhood place. Service is quick and friendly with a nice outdoor ambience due to Covid. The appetizers can be full meals because they are so filling. All ceviche is great and tastes fresh. The pulled pork quesadilla is a real winner! You can get without beans too. The same severs are normally there and offer a cool friendly vibe.
