Counter in front of you as you walk in
Rita B.

Dora's was good today and the last time I visited 30 years ago. The restaurant is narrow with about 8-10 tables inside, very casual. I think there's also a covered indoor patio to the side, it was too cold to consider it. As you walk in, there's a counter where you the waitress/hostess greets you and you can place to go order. I stopped in with two friends this morning 12/15/19 around 10:30 for a late breakfast. I had to order the menudo and I was not disappointed. Menudo was one size for $6.99, the bowl wasn't huge but big enough for me to get full. When I ordered I was asked if I wanted the pig feet in my bowl. That's authentic and, to me, means the menudo is going to be flavorful - because bones - and it was, the broth was a great flavor. I was brought small Mexican limes, dried Mexican oregano, small diced white onion, and a very spicy salsa as accompaniments along with handmade flour tortillas. Such a yummy breakfast like I would have at my nana's house. One friend ordered the taco salad in a fresh handmade flour shell. The beans and sour cream and salsa made such a good "dressing" for the salad. My other friend ordered the chile relleno combo plate with just beans, no rice. There was also a little side salad on the plate. Judi said they were not the best chile relleno she's had but not bad. To drink we ordered coffee and water. I didn't care for the coffee; the water tasted off. I still drank it because I needed that last cup of coffee for the morning. Food came out fairly quickly considering the taco shell and chile relleno were fresh fried. During the 45 or so that we were there, they had at least 4 to go orders. One man came in with a pot to be filled with menudo. At that point, I knew I'd made a good choice haha Would definitely recommend Dora's and look forward to the next time I'm in town.

a patio with tables and chairs

the food here has always been soo good, and if youre going to dine in the place is decorated nicely and all the food is presented really well, its hard not to take a picture before you start eating. I have been coming here for years and know so many other people who love this restaurant. the service is always great, they do their best to help everyone as quickly as possible. i hope this place never closes.

It's decent. Food was nice and I enjoyed the salsa and meat on the sopes. The place was very clean and nice but the hospitality wasn't all there. The cashier just gave me a menu, like eh. Then when my food arrived she just placed it on the table and walked away.

Service was great they were friendly and made you feel welcomed, the food was amazing, of your looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place and the tortillas were homemade! I ate The molcajete and it was just what I expected!

Pork ribs in tomatillo sauce

Once in a while I stop in Woodlake, drawn here by the fantastic food served up at Dora's hole in the wall Mexican cafe. Believe me, it's worth the stop! This might be the best Menudo on the planet. Don't take my word for it. Stop by and try it, though only on the weekends. This is a weekend special and it's worth the wait. It's full of tasty pig parts that you don't want to name but you do want to eat. For those high falootin' type palates who think that pork belly is a new thing, know that Dora's has been including this now hoity toity taste in their menudo for ages. The chips here are served up warm and with a cool, green salsa that is full of flavor and finishes off with a bit of heat. This is the kind of salsa that is so good you end up eating it with a spoon. Seriously. A few people at our table did just that. Gauche but who cares? This time, I ordered the pork ribs in tomatillo sauce. The ribs were mostly boneless and oh so tender. However, the star of this dish is the sauce. Again, all of us around the table were pulling out our spoons and shovelling this into our mouths. No sauce made it back to the kitchen from my plate. Mr. Handsome ate the steak picado and he was willing to share a few bites. Yum. That might be what I order next time. Our little food critic in training ordered the chicken mole. She's a bit of a mole addict and wasn't able to resist. I also noticed that, after her first bite, she didn't really want to share. Dora is a local songbird. She has records in the juke box here and pictures all over the wall of her performing or standing with someone famous. It's a treat if you get to hear one of her songs. Now, as I write this and begin to contemplate lunch, I realize that I can't eat Mexican food for a week or so. I've been spoiled once again by Dora's.

Great chips and three sauces for dipping. Great chile verde and the chicken mole fell off the bone and the sauce was flavorful.

In contrast, I will begin by highlighting the positive aspects before addressing the negatives…read more (Positives) The food quality has significantly improved under the ownership of the new management. They have introduced additional entertainment options for children and expanded the menu with TV screens displaying the menu and a more contemporary design. (Negatives) The cashier station is frequently unattended, and even when it is staffed, customers often experience poor service due to the lack of respect and attention provided by the cashier. If customers request condiments such as ketchup, they must approach the front, which is barebones and lacks essential amenities. The atmosphere remains unchanged, and if customers make an error in their orders, they are refused service and instructed to repeat the order, which incurs additional charges. Furthermore, there is a noticeable lack of cleanliness, evidenced by sticky floors and a dead fly on one of the tables. The sodas taste watered down, and attempting to request a refill is met with a disapproving look from the staff. Conclusion: Super Taco retains its reputation as a popular establishment, but the quality of food is not the only factor that contributes to the overall experience. The lack of respect and the sense of uncleanliness are significant concerns that should be addressed to provide a more satisfactory dining experience.

Some of the best reviews were many years ago. I ordered the chile verde burrito, wet, and my girlfriend ordered the fish taco Friday special. Chile verde has different sized pork chunks in a delicious green sauce but the meat was inconsistent in size with most pieces being rock hard, or fat/gristle. No pieces were tender. Chile verde should be tender. I can make better Chile verde in an Instant Pot with pork shoulder and a jar of Herdez green salsa. I trim my meat well though. No surprises. The fish tacos were attractive. They resembled fish sticks though. They had a bread crumb coating, were cooked earlier, and reheated before putting in the taco shell. Not beer batter fried aka Baja style. The taco shells were soft yellow corn tortillas with the texture of flour tortillas. These tortillas were really good! Avocado and fresh cilantro was a nice touch. No special fish taco sauce was used, but might improve the fish sticks. Rice was a solid hit for both of us. We make it like this at home with shrimp/tomato bouillon. The beans were ok. I ended up "returning" the inedible chile verde and they dutifully replaced it with a different burrito. The service was 5/5. The place itself is clean and neat and spacious. No complaints there.

There was a lot going on in town, which was shocking but we also came out of the park earlier than we normally do, but amazing enough Casa Mendoza wasn't very busy and we got seated immediately, and we just had the best server that we've ever had there, she was so polite and friendly and crazy efficient with our orders and getting them back to us asap. I didn't wanna fill up on beans and rice so I just went with an à la carte of three crispy tacos, and a tamale. I told her to put them all on one plate when they came out looking like the best à la carte plate I've ever seen; almost as if it was a menu item unto itself. Everything just had so much flavor, and the tamale is definitely in the top two of best tamales I've ever had. We will continue to come here after our Sequoia adventures for hopefully many more years to come
