Delicious, very much reminded me of when I was growing up, the Salvadoran kid in me is always excited to try anything Salvadoran related in the valley. Parked in the outdoor dining section of Three Rivers Brewery is Pupusas la Sabrosa. The seating area is pleasant and shaded by trees and surrounded by greenery. The river can be seen and heard right below. These pupusas remind me of homemade ones, they are delicious and super fresh made to order. My favorite is the pork and cheese but the jalapeño and cheese is good if you're looking for a vegetarian option. The cabbage slaw is a must as well as the sauce which both come with your order. We tried the asada quesadilla and they were great as well. The service is great as well, they are always very friendly and you're given a buzzer so you can wait at your table until the foods ready. Ate here with my family and the food was awful. They first lost our order so even though they quoted us 15-20 minutes after 40 minutes we asked for our order and they said they'll make it right now. They didn't apologize or anything. They gave us the burrito and quesadilla first and few minutes later. Both were flavorless. The carne asada burrito had no carne asada and it was very dry. The pupusas took some more time and when we got the cheese had exploded out of the pupusas and burnt. One of the best things to eat in Three Rivers. Honestly, not much in terms of choices when you're selecting what to eat here, but papusas la sabrosa was easily the best thing we ate on our trip to Sequoia. We got tacos as well - the carne asada was great. Prices are extremely fair. It is a food truck however and it can get HOT outside in Three Rivers (100+ temps). We took our food to go back to our hotel room and everything was still piping out. Food was awesome, though. We devoured everything we got and wished we ordered more (but were ultimately too lazy to go back out after a long day of hiking). Parking situation isn't ideal - there's lots of cars that park around the brewery. Btw, if you have trouble finding this place, it's in the back of the brewery so you have to walk through the brewery to find it. Don't park in the wrong area (there are signs warning of tows and being private parking only - read them!) Lots of outdoor seating if that's your jam. read more

Turns out this truck used to work in San Jose, we are so so sad we didn't discover them before they moved out here. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- We were so hungry after our day of hiking so we ordered one of each papusa (8 total, but there are actually two off-menu offerings we didn't try, chicken and pork/beans). The pupusas were so good, we had to go back for a second round. Our favorites were the chicharron, frijoles, and any combination of the two. There pupusas were so hot they melted the plastic forks we were eating with -- talk about monster cheese pulls. The cabbage and salsa were tart and cut the grease of the pupusas with some welcome acidity. Also, surprising contender of the night was the carne asada quesadilla we ordered on a (drunken) whim. Oh man, I can't think of any other word but "BEEF" to describe the flavor. Might be the best carne asada I've ever had -- perfect blend of crispy char bits, fat, and juicy grilled meat. I shed a tear for every meal in Three Rivers we had that wasn't here. 1/1 Stars for Value -- $3 for a papusa that comes with cabbage and salsa on the side. The tacos and the quesadilla didn't have prices listed but two tacos and the quesadilla together were were about $16 and they did NOT skimp on the meat. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- The owner is super friendly and forthcoming with his recommendations. Food took about 10 minutes (he warned us about the wait when we ordered) and then he brought it to our table when ready. The food was piping hot but we couldn't resist digging in right away. Can I just say OMG?!? We were looking for some authentic Mexican food and usually food trucks have some of the best. However, we got conned by some quesadillas down the road which we're not authentic and pretty pricey. Shortly after finishing that, I happen to stumble across Pupusas La Sabrosa (technically from El Salvador and not Mexico). For less than what we paid for one quesadilla up the road, we got three Pupusas that were freshly hand made by a lady from El Salvador as we watched. We got three different types and they were hot, fresh, and very excellent! The salsa and the garnish on the side where really good, and I ended up ordering another round to take home. This food truck is in the parking lot of the Three Rivers Brewing Company. What a great combination! I try to be real in my reviews and let you know if there's a downside. To access the food truck, you must go through the brewery and there is no need to purchase beer if you don't want to and there have ample seating overlooking the River, a sand box play area for kids, and a giant Jenga.
