I came here today because I was craving a Chile Relleno and I read some reviews that said they had the best! I got my order to go because I had to run some errands, but the meal was wonderful, just wish they had a two Relleno option, felt like the portion of beans and rice was pretty small, but they were both very good! The service was wonderful and the inside was very cozy and comfortable. I'll be back!!! read more

I was so lucky to find this place Christmas Eve, we needed tamales last minute and they had pork, rajas, and two kinds of sweet tamales. The family that owns the restaurant is so sweet and helpful!! The chips and salsa were bomb as well, the salsa was very much home style molcajete and great spice level. I'm glad I discovered this place and will come back to try their other menu items soon!! Very comfortable ambiance with a water fountain and several tables for seating. read more

Fairly new - a few months ago- Angelo's Kitchen is kicking it. The food we tried was excellent. Their chilis relleno were as good as any and way better than most. The service was above excellent, making me feel very pampered and well cared for. Several sauces were served with the warm tortilla chips. The restaurant itself is small, and I believe that when they become more known will eventually be too small. It is as clean as can be throughout. One improvement would be some Mexican music instead of what there was. Whatever it was. The prices are mostly good with one notable exception: I still feel ripped off when I'm charged $4.00 for a cup of soda pop. All in all. We will go back to enjoy another great experience. Going to back on a Saturday, they serve pozole on Saturday. Hope to see you there. read more

Such a warm, authentic place for home-cooked Mexican food. You can feel the love from the family in the kitchen, and at the table. If you are visiting the area, maybe coming from the Sequoias, don't miss this experience. And if you're from Visalia, get over here and support this hidden gem! You won't be disappointed! 2/26/25 Hot and new! Must check it out!! Arrived! Nice inside. Greeted by kind worker and ordered the Chicken Torta with no sour cream/mayo, extra hot sauce. It comes with fries and I just asked if I could do boiled beans and rice instead. Not a problem. Great! Paid for order snd waited at a booth. Tv up on the wall with Michael Jackson playing and others. "Hot stuff" playing after that. Nice atmosphere. Low key and calm. The worker was great and brought the order to me with well wishes! I'm pretty sure she's the owner. 2/27/25 Happy Thursday everyone! Lunchtime! Chicken Torta is Large! 1/2 is plenty! It was WoW!! DELICIOUS! Lots of flavor, chicken cooked perfectly, fresh jalapeños, avocado and absolutely love their hot salsa with it! Really spicy hot! GREAT! Beans and rice were GREAT too!! Rice cooked perfectly and tasty boiled beans!! GREAT service & GREAT lunch! Highly recommended!! read more

I am writing this after our 2nd visit to Angelos. Just want to say we could not love this warm wonderful place more. Everyone enjoyed their meals, even the teens. The food was fresh and delicious. The ambiance was really nice and we felt very at home. The service, while not fast food (thankfully!) was really wonderful. Fresh and authentic, it may take a bit longer than you might expect, but it is worth it. The best salsa and chips ever! We will be Regulars, and are so happy to find Angelo's recently . . . there is a lot of love put into their food. read more

This place is seriously amazing. Hands down the best Mexican food in town. The wet burrito was the best I've ever had--so flavorful, not greasy, and so authentic. The tacos were just as good especially since they're made with hand made tortillas. You can definitely taste the love in every single dish. But what really makes this place special are the owners. They are some of the kindest, most genuine people, and you can feel the care they put into their food and their customers. I truly wish them nothing but the best. I'd recommend anything on the menu without hesitation. This is officially my new favorite spot, and I'll be back again and again. read more

Man, these guys SAVED THE DAY. Christmas time is typically filled with Tamales. We make them over at my wife's Tia's days before Christmas and have eat them there and take some home. Christmas eve at my wife's dad's house, he usually has ordered some for the family to eat for dinner. But this year, none of that happened for some reason. The day after Christmas my wife was sad and said it just didn't feel like Christmas season for her b/c she didn't get any tamales. I figured that it can't be too hard to find in Visalia around Christmas time, right??? WRONG But Angelo's... man, they saved the day. Not only were they able to work some up for us, but once I got them home and we dug into them, they were delicious! The staff was super friendly too! If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thank you guys for saving the day! read more

Our usual place for Christmas Eve tamales just fell short of "meh" last year so this year was time to try something new. SO GLAD WE DID!!!!! I called the day before Christmas Eve, and was able to place a next day order for ALL the things-tamales, rice, beans, and salsa. When I picked up our order, I was immediately greeted by staff, and was surprised/impressed that they greeted me by my name(it was a cautious (correct) guess, but impressed at the attention to the customer)! The tamales were HUGE with TONS of fillings and all the sides were delicious!! Chili cheese were DELICIOUS with spinach(?) in addition to chili/cheese. Our visit was for Christmas Eve, AND we will be back for the regular menu! read more

Food was refreshing, everything had good flavor! Everything seemed fresh, not sure how to explain exactly what I mean. The carnitas was "clean" didn't taste like it'd been soaking in a vat of lard all day like most places around. It had good flavor, chicken enchilada and carnitas both were moist and tender. Kids asada taco plate was perfect, plain, and simple. Service was good, the little one 15 mo's was dancing to Selena music videos and the waitress turned it up for him. Small menu, which I appreciate. read more

My girlfriend and I came in expecting a bit more, especially with the good reviews, and left feeling disappointed. The food was nothing special and had a lot to be desired. My $15 burrito had nothing but meat, beans, and rice with a scarce amount of grilled onions (which I asked for). But no cheese or anything special and the food was bland in my opinion. Then, there's our service. When we came in there was hardly anyone there. One family seated and that's it. So we place our order and we are told it would be about 15 minutes til our food was out. About 5 minutes after this, another 2 people come in and are seated, and then after a few minutes they are brought chips etc and place their order for dine in. Their food came out SO fast, within like 7-10 minutes. Meanwhile, the girl and I are like huh... so we wait patiently. 25 minutes go by and still nothing, the lady hasn't said anything to us about our food. I'm like okay let me go ask and she says they are "just bagging our food up." Which somehow took another 5 minutes? Overall, our customer experience was super poor, and no compensation for the wait when we spent $45 on our order. Kind of dissapointing. I honestly wouldn't recommend based off our visit as FIRST TIME guests. We had never been there and just felt like we were kind of disregarded which is crazy. read more

We also got a side of chips and salsa and two mini tacos, one with Al pastor and the other with barbacoa. The Asada tasted bad. The rest of the burrito was fine. The green sauce was great, pico and guac were fine. But the meat had this weird old tasting flavor to it. It even had a rancid smell to it after pulling a few pieces out to see what the problem was. I immediately had to stop eating it, the pieces were also fatty, tough and hard like a pebble. The chips also tasted old and stale, like store bought chips left out for a while. The Al Pastor was the highlight of the meal. The meat tasted charred, it was flavorful and well seasoned. I honestly should've grabbed a burrito with that meat instead. Barbacoa was just ok, nothing to write home about. A little more tough than what we've had from Chipotle. Not really seasoned. Overall, disappointed. Los Arbolitos was the spot to go to for a really good asada burrito. Unfortunately this doesn't seem like the case anymore. For 1 burrito and 1 taco with tip, came out to around $33. Don't do delivery from here. The Burrito was not very good. The meat was almost like ground beef in texture but also non existent at the same time. I tasted more beans than rice but even then, it was more of a soupy burrito with a tortilla that you had to rip at and hope each bite wouldn't undo the whole burrito. There was some kind of salsa inside it that wasn't apart of the description. It gave it an off flavor. Al Pastor taco was meh. The corn tortillas tasted homemade, which was nice. But the meat was stringy, kind of fatty and an off color almost a light orange. It tasted better than the asada but still wasn't very good. I do appreciate they followed my request for extra salsa, but these packs look like they come from a frozen dinner you get at the store. Absolutely off putting. The flavor was "ok" but nothing special. Overall, not worth it. $33 and I was left with an upset stomach. I had such high hopes! I haven't been in a long time and was hoping it would have been an amazing experience. I was wrong. I gave 3 stars cause I do appreciate them following the special instructions most other restaurants don't. But that still can't justify the food.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. This place used to be good. But in the past several…read moreyears, it's completely gone downhill both in customer service, quality of the food, & its pricing. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, however the prices continue to rise. What you are served is definitely not worth what Azul's charges you. This place used to be a regular go-to spot for myself when I am in Visalia, which is quite often. My sister & her husband were weekly regulars there & were (allegedly) friends with the owner. The last several times I've been there for a meal with my sister & BIL the owner has come over to say hello, but she has not seemed genuine or at all happy to see my sister & BIL. Instead, her "hellos" & the quick small talk that is expected of an owner greeting their regulars seemed incredibly forced & just completely inorganic. It was like she did not want us there, found it annoying that we were there, & did not appreciate our business at all. That made me feel very uncomfortable. The last time my family was there, it was my sister, mother, & their friend (a Visalia local) that were dining in. My mother picked up the check & paid by debit card & rounded up the just under $70 bill to $90 for the tip. When she looked at her bank statement a few days later, she discovered that the server had charged $100. My mom called my sister, who told her to call the owner & let her know what happened to make it right. They were trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time knew the chances of an experienced server mistaking a 2-digit total for a 3-digit total is highly unlikely. When my mother called the restaurant to speak to the owner, she kept my mother waiting on hold for the longest time. After the owner finally did come to the phone, she was very rude to my mom: didn't say hello or ask how she was. The owner completely dismissed the occurrence, saying that the server who ran the card was one of her best girls & longest employees & that there was no way that could have happened. The way she spoke to my mother, it was like she was trying to make my mother feel like it was her fault, & was making an issue out of nothing. My mom assured her that she had copies of the receipt with the correct total, to which the owner rudely said something like "okay, so what now? You want the $10 back?" completely dismissively. My mother tried to be polite--as this was a "friend" of my sister's & my sister & BIL were still at that point regulars--so she said the next time they came in to dine, they could discount that tab by $10. Obviously, that never happened. When my BIL found that out, he & my sister both decided they would no longer give their business to such a place. None of us have been back since. I do not recommend eating here. You will get mediocre food at an expensive price tag. Plus you will run the risk of dishonest servers over tipping themselves under the protection of an owner who clearly does not care & puts her customers down. If this was the experience of regular customers, I can only imagine how the non-regulars are treated...

Like another customer stated that it had a funky odor and it was covered with bleach smell was true on my first visit and after talking with the owner of the restaurant, the menu sounded like it was worth coming back. I came back a second time and the owner recognized me and greeted me and directed us towards our table. There was no odor this time and it is an older establishment that actually was a house at one time. If you sit in the back area you can still see the crown moldings of the living area. We ordered the Marlin Empanadas- there is 4 to an order ($12). I wish I cut one so that you can see in the picture that it definitely is Marlin. Marlin is red flesh and I've fished in Cabo San Lucas and caught marlin and it's not the best flavored fish as it is dense and very oily. This definitely tasted like I remembered the last time I caught a marlin! Still this was good as I don't see marlin on the menu much so I usually order shrimp empanadas. We ordered Cooked Seafood Molcajete- Shrimp, octopus, crab, fish, and mussels. It came out boiling hot and I'm going to post video of the clay pot so you can see that it comes out hot from the kitchen!! Ordered a side of whole beans and homemade corn tortillas. Yes they do have homemade corn tortillas here and I definitely recommend! They also have a Tomahawk steak served with shrimp ($75) that I hear is a good seller!! Come support this restaurant! It's located on North Sante Fe and away from most businesses so you don't know it's there or has re-opened like I did!! Quality is good and everything had good flavor!

When we arrived at my family member's house in Shafter and opened the container, the entire lime juice had leaked into the bag, and what was left was basically just a tiny portion of cucumber and avocado--definitely not a complete order. How was this almost $20 ($15 + Svc fee) I immediately took a photo and called the restaurant. Our server, Adriana, asked me to text the picture to the # I was calling +1 (559) 830-4004 so the manager could approve a refund. I did exactly as instructed, and they did respond after reviewing picture and said they would issue refund... but despite following up multiple times, no one ever processed my refund or even responded. Considering how expensive the food is here (plus added service fees), it's really disappointing to be treated with such unprofessionalism. All I expected was accountability and a resolution for an order that was clearly incomplete. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and customer care has left a very negative impression, and I don't plan to return.

They made sure to give utensils and napkins, so plus side for that. Now for what I ate from here. I got an Asada Wet Burrito topped with Salsa Verde. The burrito itself looked really nice, the overall flavor was good; not great. Something about the Asada itself, just didn't really do it for me personally. It was shredded and sliced at the same time in different parts of the burrito, but it all tasted the same; plain. They made a pretty hefty burrito! So points for that! The show stopper here was the Salsa Verde on top! The sauce I topped my burrito with was the salsa verde, but they also do red sauce if you choose. Their was beautiful soft and meaty pieces of Chile verde meat on top and the sides of the burrito, that meat was waaaayyyyy better than the asada. So go for that meat choice instead! The salsa verde is spicy! Great heat and flavor to it! Pro Tip: order a side of salsa verde to go with your burrito. It tends to get dry after your first few bites, so keep an extra side of sauce for topping and dipping! The cost of the burrito is $13.99 and I do feel it is worth the price. I would definitely come back and try out another burrito, but next time with a different meat. I would even be so keen on trying one of the Tortas they have on the menu. Come check this place out if you're in Visalia and looking for another Mexican Restaurant to try out! They have a very nice sized menu with plenty of stuff for Everyone!

The staff is patient, even when you're staring down the menu like it's a test you didn't study for. The place fills fast. By the time I was halfway through my meal, the room was packed, heavy wooden tables, yellow walls, colorful figures scattered around, ranchero music cutting through the chatter. It's the kind of noise that tells you people actually want to be here. I went with the chile relleno. The rice? Basic, nothing to write about. The beans? Solid, especially with cheese melted over the top, the kind of detail that makes you nod mid‑bite. The relleno itself was the star: tender chile stuffed with cheese, soft breading, and a sauce that carried real flavor. Every forkful reminded me why this dish is a staple. Drinks come in to‑go cups, which threw me at first, but it fits the vibe, practical, no nonsense. El Tapatio feels like a place you can drop into for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and know you'll walk out fed, satisfied, and maybe humming along to the music. Overall, I wouldn't say the food is bad--it just didn't have the bold flavors I typically look for in Mexican food. If you're someone who's sensitive to spice or doesn't enjoy the smoky, rich flavors found in many traditional Mexican dishes, this may actually be a great fit for you. My biggest concern was that the prices didn't quite match the overall quality. The service, however, was excellent. Maribel took great care of us and was friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. I ordered the Tostada Compuesta with grilled chicken. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the guacamole was fresh and good, though fairly standard. The highlight of the dish was definitely the homemade fried tortilla shell. It was perfectly crispy, not greasy at all, and held together well, but I wished it had a little more seasoning. My son ordered a regular ground beef burrito, and we added cheese and rice (he likes to keep things simple). He enjoyed it, although he thought it had a little too much rice. Personally, I didn't mind since we had paid extra to add it. My husband ordered the Two-Item Combo with shredded beef. The tacos were on the smaller side and somewhere between soft and crispy. The rice and beans were decent, but neither really stood out. The complimentary chips and salsa were also just okay. The salsa was a bit runny and could have used more spice and flavor. The standout of the entire meal was the El Gran Patrón cocktail. Made with Patrón Añejo, Patrón Citrónge, and served with a side shot of Grand Marnier, it was absolutely delicious and easily my favorite part of the experience. Our total came to about $84 for the three of us, which felt a little expensive for what we received. The night before, I had spent just over $60 feeding five people at another restaurant and even had leftovers. Everyone values dining differently, but for me, the overall value just wasn't there.
