Been coming here for years. Their burrito is so good! We always get the Cali burrito and their quesadilla. Friendly staff. It's August and a weekday, there's only one kind server and a few workers in the kitchen, so don't come hungry. The place is ample and clean and has a great view of Mt. Whitney. We recommend and we'll be back!

Back here again! More than a year ago, we were traveling through Lone Pine when we stopped for lunch at Bonanza Mexican Restaurant. We enjoyed our meals, so this time around, while visiting Death Valley National Park, we craved Mexican food and decided to stop here for a meal again. Bonanza is a family-owned restaurant, and the people serving the customers are amicable. When we walked in this time, two young ladies were attending the floor, and they were both very welcoming and friendly. When it came to ordering our dinner, we could not remember what we had ordered the last time we were here, so we settled for Carne Asada, Fajitas de Cameron, and the Cobb Salad. Then I got curious and dug out some photos from that trip. To my surprise, we all had ordered the same exact dishes and had sat at the same table! :- ) Dad and I enjoyed a cold beer each while waiting for the food, as we usually do. My mom loved her Fajitas de Cameron, and I loved my salad. My Dad enjoyed his Carne Asada but thought the meat was chewy. I tried a piece, and it was tasty. It was tough because the beef was from a grass-fed/free-range cow. Bonanza Mexican Restaurant is an excellent place to eat a filling meal if you are in Lone Pine. The quality of the food is good, and the service is excellent.

Bonanza fit the bill for a nice, no-frills lunch during our camping trip to Alabama Hills. It offers a full section of vegetarian menu items (yay!), complimentary chips and salsa, and a beer & wine selection (although no margaritas). The good-- My husband and I both ordered a beer and it was served with a ice cold mug. The salsa was fresh and tasty, and the chips were hot and crispy. The average-- My Huevos Rancheros left something to be desired. A little flavor lacking. And the Ranchero sauce was more like Pico de Gallo, not a smooth salsa. The Ehh-- Service was pleasant, if a little slow. It would have been nice to be offered another beer. It was a hot day, and trust me, we needed it! Overall, Bonanza is just fine for a little meal while strolling through town.

Old Mexican place with great food and a big price tag, but service is really slow. And They charge too much for a small container of salsa to go. ($8)

One of the worst excuses for beef fajitas I've had. More like chunks of beef in a stew. Not fajitas at all. Not much beef.

Although they weren't as busy as the Alabama cafe my husband and I found their food and the atmosphere to be great and actually much better than the Alabama Cafe. I ordered a vegetable omelette. The veges were plentiful and sautéed just right with a great flavor. I asked for a side of salsa and it was super good, obviously homemade and fresh. It came with home fried potatoes which were from freshly sliced potatoes (not frozen) and they were also seasoned perfectly. In addition i substituted fresh fruit for toast and it came with fresh cantaloupe, pineapple and berries, all sweet and delicious. ( Alabama cafe wouldn't allow for substitutes) My husband ordered ham and eggs and he said it was really good as it was a nice thick ham steak and again, great flavor. The cafe felt cozy and comfortable with lots of antique decor to check out. They also sell jars of honey that i plan on buying next time. We will be back for sure on our next trip to mammoth and I hope this review will draw attention to Totems as their food was great and they deserved the review.

It's a shame when servers are not trained. It's even worse when the food is not good…read more The young lady that served us asked about drinks. Why sure I'd like a libation something rather. She came back and said in fact they don't serve Margarita's. She said she had no idea, and that she didn't even live in the area. What does where she lives have anything to do with anything? I don't want to be mean, but ?? I ordered the 1/2 rack of these "Famous Ribs." My hubby the Flat Iron steak. We asked for salads as the choice instead of soup. We wait and wait...starving after having hiked all over the Alabama Hills. It is customary to get the salad ahead of time, but this young lady was doing other things. Suddenly after 15 min. we got our meals with no salad. She was getting ready to walk away when I asked about the salads. She went and got them not really concerned about it, and was not really understanding. So onto these ribs! I'm traumatized by these things that were so overcooked and dry. What on earth was done to these things? It seems they were boiled, then frozen, then defrosted, and microwaved? Who knows!! I do know this. I have been making ribs for a long time. For the love of God you don't need to kill the pig 15 times! My hubbies Flat Iron Steak was alright. Not completely hideous. Needless to say, there are not many choices in the Lone Pine. This is not a choice I would ever venture to again if in the area.

There was a lot going on in town, which was shocking but we also came out of the park earlier than we normally do, but amazing enough Casa Mendoza wasn't very busy and we got seated immediately, and we just had the best server that we've ever had there, she was so polite and friendly and crazy efficient with our orders and getting them back to us asap. I didn't wanna fill up on beans and rice so I just went with an à la carte of three crispy tacos, and a tamale. I told her to put them all on one plate when they came out looking like the best à la carte plate I've ever seen; almost as if it was a menu item unto itself. Everything just had so much flavor, and the tamale is definitely in the top two of best tamales I've ever had. We will continue to come here after our Sequoia adventures for hopefully many more years to come

The chips were lightly seasoned and the salsa was flavorful. The kids had a good amount of options for food which is nice, other restaurants maybe have 3 or 4. The adult portions were huge! I had the carne and shrimp burrito and the shrimp were big. I didn't know they made burritos that big anymore. We definitely would like to come back next time we're in town
