There's a lot to do here as an adult. It's really fun and brings back old memories of arcades while not being so overwhelming as riding twelve to fifteen rides as bigger amusement parks. It's a fraction of the cost, too. Their prices really can't be beaten. You'll want to come on a weekday when the game passes are pretty cheap and offer unlimited games for however many hours. The weekend doesn't have that deal. The arcade area is a bit too dark and crowded but there are A TON of games and, surprisingly, they all worked when we went. None out of service. It was all (aside from directly in front of the food counters inside) really clean, too. But mentioning food reminds me that all the food options were pretty terrible. Gross, actually. I guess I'm spoiled by Disneyland, so if I'm going to pay DisneyLand price for food, I want the same quality. Blech. But entry is a different story. I've been going to Golf 'n Stuff (now Castles and Coasters) since I was six years old. Back then most of the holes had moving motorized obstacles (anyone remember Green Gables at 24th south of Thomas?) and the four floors of video games inside a giant castle were an extravaganza of pleasure that was a kid's dream come true. Today it's the place where my friends and family gather for "golf gauntlet". With a set of rules for play that are fair but make it a serious competition. With four courses of 18 holes to choose from (in increasing difficulty) there is lots of variety and challenge for your tournament play. Score cards, pencils and a small circular pedestaled disc at the end of every hole make your tourney's scorekeeper's job a cinch. Colored balls keep players' places separate, and thick concrete walkways along each hole make sure you can watch your ball through the various obstacles without interrupting play. If you are accustomed to big amusement parks such as Six Flags, Busch Gardens etc....this is not that type. It can be expensive if you have a big group but it could be worth it. The ultimate pass is best if your crew wants to do coasters, golf and video games. If you have a child under 40 inches (I believe that's the height) their ticket is half off. Make sure you check the times of everything as the day we went the coasters section didn't open until 2pm. The arcade, mini golf, go carts and bumper boats were open. Food can get costly but it's no different than any other amusement park. Lines for the food stand in the arcade is always the longest but the one inside the coaster section wasn't as bad. They also had a pizza place and ice cream and funnel cakes in that section. There was about 5-6 rides for the littles. read more

Okay so let me just start right out and say I debated on a three or a two star rating and the only reason I'm rating a three is because I have childhood memories here. Anyways, today we arrived fairly early, purchased a ride pass as well as a golf and game add on for all 5 of us. The rides (aside from the go carts and the water bumper things) are all closed until 2pm. We started with the go carts. No one else was in line aside from us and the three workers made us wait like 10 minutes before they bothered to let us in though the did see us which was kind of annoying because that attraction was supposed to have been up and running at 10am when they open and it was about 10:40 by the time we had purchased our passes and got to the go carts. Once we started riding, one of the carts kept dying. They refused to switch it for a working one and made us keep using the one that would die every three to four seconds. The worker kept having to run over any do something behind the go cart, it would run a few more seconds and die again. To top it off the teen(ish) aged kid had a poor attitude. Speaking of attitudes, many of the workers seemed to be disrespectful overall. We came across not one friendly worker. I just don't understand how companies nowadays seem to not feel that having respectful kind workers isn't mandatory. Maybe I'm just old? Next complaint, the lines ... oh the lines! It was jam packed about 30 minutes after the main rides opened. Back to back lines that you had to wait in anywhere from 15-60 minutes in line just to get to the ride. Not joking. And no, this isn't due to limited capacity because they were in full force just like they have been in years past. Even to get a snack, we waited 20 minutes in line to order and then waited another 35+ minutes to get the French fries that we had ordered for the kids. We spent more time just standing waiting than enjoying the attractions really. All in all, it was just way too packed. Though there are some fun rides, it just was not enjoyable waiting in lines for so long. Waiting nearly an hour for one minute just doesn't weigh out for me, but if you have patience in abundance ... you'll probably really enjoy yourself. read more

Came here on a warm sunday afternoon the day before MLK day 1/17/21. Parking sucks. All the stalls are very small which gives the jerks of this world the green light to double park. Well at least its free. Did the 35 dollar all day play pass for me and my party of 5. First time for all of us here so our expectations were just neutral. After our experience I can only describe this event with 2 emphatic words. NEVER AGAIN. Before I go any further, I hope that you are sitting down for this is going to be a continuous negative rant all through out with maybe just one good thing. First of all, the name "Castles N' Coasters" is deceiving for I only observed the ONE castle that houses all the video arcades. As for the coasters part of it, they just barely qualified with 2 coasters. One of them is in the back of the park which was not appealing at all. The other they obviously built it towards the front closest to the freeway to make people think that the park seems to have a fun appeal to it. That can't be further from the truth. So we ride this "Desert Storm" coaster. Has the one decent first drop, 2 loops, and then you are done. I knew this coaster sucked as soon as we saw only a handful of people in line for it. Since there was no school the next day because of MLK day, the park was pretty packed but you wouldnt know that judging by the 8 or so people that were in line for this ride. I don't know why they call this a "Thrill Ride". The only thrill I got out of it was that I was "thrilled" that it didnt break down when we rode it. This ride is so shaky that it will make you feel like you were a martini drink that James Bond always orders. Now I wonder if getting stirred is better. Up next, we got in line for the go karts. Took about 45 minutes before we finally were able to get in a kart. Even then we still were not given the green light to go until about another 10 minutes later! The whole unloading and unloading thing for this ride is ridiculous. Not only does it take forever to get people going but you are inhaling exhaust fumes from the engines the whole time. At this point, we all knew that the $210+ that I just spent was definitly not worth it. After the go karts I was severely disappointed and was seriously thinking of asking for my money back. Their policy states that they dont give out refunds and all sales are final. The rest of the afternoon I just let my kids go and ride everything else while me and my girlfriend camped out at one of the tables. Hell, I had more fun playing Clash of Clans on my phone waiting for my kids and that game is free! The only thing decent that stood out for us was when we had a couple of funnel cakes and maybe the caramel apple that my kid's friend got. One thing I need to complain about is that bottled water is $4 bucks a pop. For that price at Costco you can get a 40 bottle pack. Ridiculous. May I also add that if we wanted to play mini golf and the Dark Ride attraction, it's another 5 dollars each per person. So technically it would have been $45 per person if we went through with it. In closing, this park is a scam. You definitely dont get what you pay for. I think the only reason people come here is because there are no other options in the greater Phoenix area. It's not easy to witness a dying business. If you've been here recently, you'd know what I'm referring to. The whole place has a sort of... funk. The wort of eeriness a place gets after being run down for so many years. It seems almost as if the heart of the place has been gone for a lifetime. There were probably 10 families in the park total when my group went. The arcade was the best conditioned part. Around 70% of the machines were working and the prices are very high, even for an amusement park. The mini golf seemed neglected. Everything was sort of tearing apart and worn down. The park itself was the most disappointing and sad part of my experience however. Castles and coasters was just castles when I went. Both of the roller coasters were under maintenance. I didn't know of this of course before entering. The race cars were just not fun. The design seemed to fit much smaller children while appealing mostly to a teen crowd. Everything runs on gas and smells terrible. If you want an amusement park experience, you are gonna have to wait for the parks on wheels and trolleys to roll through town. Spent the day here for a day-date. Think arcade-theme Park-mini golf all in one. Played some video games. They have a bunch of new ones and a ton of old school ones like pac-man, Ms. pac-man, Tetris...and so many pin ball machines. You fill a gamer card and then each video game costs a certain amount of credits. You swipe as you play. Then, some games allow you to win tickets which also get put on the same gaming card for you to redeem at the end of your day. I was a bit disappointed that the coasters only run Monday-Thursday. Kinda silly as the weekend is more crowded and it's what I would think people go there for. Also, considering the name of this establishment, the coasters should be open daily. read more

Staff were too busy playing Uno to help us. Walked outside to the other side for service. 4 employees playing cards in between running my credit card and not at all attentive to guests. Bathrooms were crawling with dust and were filthy. 2 people with spray bottles were walking around looking busy but didn't actually get anything clean. Played 18 holes of mini golf. It was hot but not horrible. The course is really run down and some of the holes balls drop into eat them and you have to go alllll the way back to the starting window to break up the card game to get help. Happened 2x and the 17th, I think, is in need of repair to the point we called it a hole if someone touched the hole as there was no way it would actually catch a ball. Lots of bees-they need to take out some hives. Be careful where you "park" so you don't disturb them! We went in to get drinks but couldn't get anyone to the window to help so I consider that lost revenue for them. We did get a $4 water (wtf?!?) from the vending machine. I suck at mini golf and I golfed under par, which means it's a pretty easy course. Over all, just a $15/person "meh" from us. Forgettable but killed some day. Games are $10 cards for $7, and most games are 75¢-$2. Too expensive! If this was managed well, it could be a gold mine! read more

We went as a group and I had a two yr old and an almost five year old. The people at the counter said they would get to go on most rides, but we're turned down on most because of a height limit which was unclear. One ride our young kids could have rode with us considering their height. But we were told no after waiting in line forever. The poor kids were sad the whole time. The rides look busted and ready to fall apart. I felt like I was at a rundown carnival. So let's talk safety. The rides were not monitored well by staff, which just consisted of teenagers. The gates leading to the roller coasters were non existent. A child or costumer could have fallen into the tracks of any given ride. Not safe for young kids. The food was way over priced and the tickets were overpriced. With all the money this place seems to be pouring in you would think they would take better care of it, but who ever is banking, is pocketing every cent. I just wouldn't trust this place. read more

We literally live about 2 miles away from here but had not visited it in the 3-1/2 years we've been in this area. Last Saturday night, hubby and me decided to go and play miniature golf. Weather is finally cooling down here in Phoenix to enjoy being outside. It was about 7:30 p.m. when we got there. We were able to find a good place to park. They do have ample parking and you can park across the street at the Wal-Mart parking lot if need be. Didn't have to wait in line to purchase our tickets for miniature golf. A round of 18 holes cost $10.99. We went inside the building then back outside to check in to get our golf clubs and color of balls. Side note, we got a blue and orange ball assigned to us. I like places we've been in the past where you can pick your own color of balls. There are 2 courses to play. The blue course and the red course, course 1 and course 2. Remember which color you are playing because I think it is around hole 5 that there are signs for the next hole for blue and the next home for red and it is confusing *(at least to us). We weren't sure what color of course we had chosen, but had chosen at the start the one that said course 2. The holes are your typical ones for miniature golf. Despite there being a company party with lots of people and several other birthday parties, the courses were not crowded and you didn't have to wait to get to the next hole for the people in front of you finishing up. Took us a little over an hour to do the 18 holes then we walked around the park a bit as we hadn't been there and walked around the arcade, which is 2 stories, and of course there are tons of games there. Its a bit pricey to get tickets for rides and they come in gold passes and silver passes. I thought the gold pass was for $40 or so of unlimited rides, etc. Could be a bit expensive for a family. Otherwise, place was very clean, workers that we encountered were friendly. We'll be back when we want to play golf again. We are in our 60s and doubt we'll want to go on the rides, but the rides especially the go carts looked busy and looked like people were having fun on them. read more

We only come here for the 3 hours of arcade game play for $15 Monday-Thursday. Besides that we don't even consider coming. Games are okay, many of them are not working or the controls don't work. Employees are mostly teens and their attitudes are as you would expect from a teen. Not the best customer service. The older employees are usually friendlier and helpful. The theme park also needs to be updated. Personally I wouldn't get on their coasters or rides. Plenty of parking, shopping, and restaurants nearby as well. read more

Overall it was a moderately enjoyable experience however if you try to get on the go karts after 8 you will have a rude group of team members who make up excuses to not let you ride. We were only able to go on them once because someone who was on the track with me bumped into another person and as a result everyone was not allowed on it which makes no sense. I grew up with this place back in the days when it was called golf n stuff. It used to be one of the funnest places around for a good time. Don't get me wrong I still think it is with it's amusement rides and video games. Do think though they are really not keeping up with repairs and the place is going downhill. Take for example the golf course which has always been the staple of its attraction since it's beginning. The greens are majorly ripped on some holes and the tubes on some holes which transport your ball after your first shot need to be completely replaced. Ball often gets stuck because of this and can be very frustrating. Also the mats used for the tee off are are very poor and on many holes the metal rail holding down the back mat inhibited a normal stroke or was coming up completely like in the picture I posted. Really takes away from the experience. At 11 dollars a person which is a bit high anyway for goofy golf you'd think the course would be a whole lot better. The arcade games upstairs are my favorites in the place since they are more of the old school games like tron dig dug and the likes. One bad part though is again the neglect of maintenance is found here as many of the games are broken and it doesn't look like they are any hurry to fix em anytime soon. Now as for the outside rides well I admit those all seem to be in good working order. Do admit though that some of the coasters could definitely benefit by a good new paint job to give em a better look than the dull sun beaten look they have. Another improvement would be to finally reopen the circular building found next to the smaller coaster. It hasn't been used in ages other than the bottom level as a really crappy concession stand which alone needs huge improvements. Back in the day the upstairs area used to have more arcade games and maybe that wouldn't work but something should be done with it. It looks very shabby and is definitely a eyesore as u walk around the park now. So this review is only purely based on the mini golf portion. We didn't do the other parts of the park. The mini golf in itself is pretty fun. There are two courses, and each course has very good labels telling you where to go next. The course vary in different setup, which is fun to go through. I do wish there are more theme based set up such as candy houses or whatnot. The thing that I would improve is to ensure the cleanliness of the place more often. At least when we were there, there were trash here and there. The other thing is to check the holes in the course. Some courses require the ball to go underground through a tunnel and sometimes the ball would get stuck in there. On all a fun experience for a nice day out or family. read more
