As others have mentioned, this is the most friendly and easy to work with storage facility I've ever dealt with. I was up visiting and moving my Mom nearby. She needed a storage unit last minute. I called to confirm that units were available and ended up down there in an hour or so. It was super close to where we were in Southie so that was convenient. Scott showed us a couple units after looking at what we had to store in an effort to not "over rent" on the size of a unit. We ended up looking at one with obstructing pipes running through it, so he gave it to us for the same price as the next size down. It worked perfectly for what we needed. We also used the Yelp Check In Offer to get 10% off for every month of storage. What a deal! We pulled the truck inside and Scott set us up with everything we needed to know. I took care of the paperwork and my brother and I were unloaded in no time. The facility was spotless, easy to use, and climate controlled. It was pricey compared to places near me in the south but I'm sure it's on par with other storage spots in the area. I felt like we got a pretty good deal. read more

We just finished one year of renting at Castle in South Boston and had a very good experience. Our unit was clean, free of pests and smells, and nicely temperature controlled in both the winter and summer. What made the business special, though, was their employee J.P., who seems to do it all: customer service, building management, and security. Every time I called or stopped by he was helpful, knowledgeable, and watchful. He has a superintendent's attitude and a strong sense of pride for the building. I rented a small storage space at Castle Storage for 18 months and it was the best self-storage experience I've had. The location is easily accessible. Parking is simple, and the building is neat and clean. They even kept my bicycle safe and secure when I accidentally left it outside my storage unit one day. The manager, JP, is a wisecracker with a good sense of humor, but he takes his role, his customer service and the safety and security of the building very seriously. Highly recommend. read more

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE : I am currenly renting a unit in the South Boston Facility. The staff was very helpful in helping me pick out the right size unit, they even talked me out of renting too big of a unit for my needs which saved me money. Large, clean, secure facility with lots of options. When I moved into my unit I came to the facility near closing because my movers arrived very very late. Sofia was on duty and she bent over backwards to help me out of a very tight bind! Great people work here, I would highly recommend this place and I personally wouldn't think of going anywhere else. read more

Had a terrible experience. Called in two days prior to inquire about storage spaces to store things over summer. The representative said that they had a few sizing options that would fit my needs, and then asked when I wanted to come in and I said in 3 days time, around noon. He said that he "booked" me in to come look then. I came in at said time, and the receptionist/representative said that they were at full capacity aside from a unit much too big for my needs. He was very rude and unapologetic for being unable to offer my anything. He wasn't even able to recommend other businesses that might be able to meet my needs. Incredibly poor customer service, I have no idea how this place has such a high rating. read more

I have had a storage unit at Castle for about six months. It is by far the best place I have ever stored my stuff at. A lot of people think all storage units are the same, but once you situate yourself at a bad one, you understand this is not true. They have an excellent, air-condtione/heated, clean facility, with an indoor drive-up area where you can unload your stuff onto flatbed carts. This is very convenient when the whether is not so good. All of their units are on the ground floor, making it so much easier to get t o your unit than with those smaller places that have two floors, just to avoid buying/renting a larger piece of land. As far as the service goes - there is no place better. Frank Medbery, the manager, is as customer service-oriented as they come. He calls you immediately when your package arrives, is always super helpful, and makes you feel like you are storing your items at home. He literally helped me park my box truck near my unit when I had to move out today. Unlike other storage facilities, they make you feel like they appreciate your business and do not kick you off the premises immediately when they close, unlike a lot of other places. We all know that we forget that one last box from the unit, just when the facility closes, and with Castle, I never had to worry that I was there too "late." I will miss storing my stuff at Castle in Southie - something I never thought I would say about a storage unit! read more

I rented a space from them but then didn't end up needing it and was able to cancel before my contract started. The manager was extremely understanding and helpful every step of the way in finding me the right size space for me items and in promptly refunding me my money. The facility is well run, clean and well lit. If I ever need storage in the future this is the first place i'll go. read more

Amy and Brian are very customer focused and the facility is well run and very clean. I felt very safe every time I went to my unit and my things were secure and temp controlled. Ok, in all fairness I don't rent a spot from these guys. I'm writing this review in response to the fantastic encounter I had with Frank, the manager of this facility, regarding a rather tall order I presented him with. I'm a plumber, and was looking for a place nearby to store large tools with 24 hour access. Regretably, I was informed that there were no more spaces available which fit the bill I was looking for. No biggie right? I didn't expect what followed. To my amazement, Frank hopped on his computer to get phone numbers of other local storage facilities and called them to ask if they had any spaces available fitting my description. This is not what I expected; for him to solicit his competition to make sure I left happy simply goes above and beyond. Kudos to Frank for actually caring. Should the need arise in the future, I know who I'll be going to for more pedestrian storage needs. read more

I just moved into a 600 Sq ft apt in south Boston so needless to say I definitely needed a place to store some stuff. I did a little shopping around but the location here was perfect so I figured I'd check it out. The rates are good, the staff is amazingly friendly (Amy is especially great) and the facilities are very nice with easy access and great security. Yesterday, I drove a box truck into the storage loading area (no trouble getting in) shortly before close, but was unable to exit. I had no idea how to get the truck out of the loading area since I couldn't go back out through the entrance and the exit gate was closed (since we'd run up against closing time). My boyfriend ran around the building to ask for help from the front desk. Thankfully, the employee closing up, Emily, came running out to help us open the entrance gate and navigate the truck out since it was the only door we were able to get the truck through. If it hadn't been for her, the truck would have been stuck there until morning, and I would have had to pay huge fines for keeping it far beyond my rental term. I couldn't believe how helpful, friendly, and positive Emily was even though we had run up against (and now past) closing time and hugely inconvenienced her. I have had good experiences with Castle Storage previously, but my experience yesterday was what finally brought me to write a yelp review. Employees like Emily are what make places like Castle so great. read more

I had been using a different storage unit for several years. There was no climate control, and all my leather goods actually froze. I was also a bit afraid to go there, it felt a bit desolate and creepy. So, on the recommendation of a friend, I moved everything to Castle Storage. First of all, the people that work there are so nice. Danielle said she would be happy to stay late, if we couldn't finish the move by closing time - and this was on the day of a snowstorm. Now that is customer service. Secondly, the place is clean and convenient. There is a door to drive up to so you can conveniently load and unload. It is climate controlled (no more frozen boots). The hours are not as long as some places, but that also means that someone is there at all times monitoring who goes in and out, so it feels much safer than the unnamed place I was using. I feel such a sense of relief knowing my "stuff" is in good hands. read more

This company is a small family owned business that doesn't honor the rates or contracts you sign. They think a verbal conversation is how to conduct business in terms of rates and length of term. They agreed to rent me a storage area for 223 a month (Normally goes for 350) (more than I needed, but they had someone for the smaller unit and I agreed based on the deal, it would be easier for me and willing to pay more). We never discussed the length of the term, but when I actually showed up, the manager who was nice to sell it and rude upon my arrival...... basically said "Yea, it's for one month". I questioned him and he walked away....Not only that, but they have some long term people who store merchandise in and out of there who are the rudest people I have ever met. They wouldn't give me space for my truck, dirty looks, rude to my movers....This went on for the whole 2 hours. Management never said a things and walked away. My term became longer than expected (3-4months) and when I called to pay for the next month, they jacked my rate up and were extremely rude and not willing to work with me. Quite frankly, if I thought this would happen I never would have agreed in the first place. All over a 100 bucks a month and when I did them a favor and they keep telling me they did me a favor??? I could have taken the smaller unit. I was living in back bay in 500 square feet apt. BTW I'm a contract lawyer and any larger company would never be able to do this. There would be legal ramifications. Conversations V. legal contract don't hold up on court. I signed a actual contract that states all the terms and my rate. If it was only for a specific time, it should have been written into the agreement. Nevertheless, if they acted nicer and gave me a break for the month I owed, I would have been more sympathetic. They now have a renter for the space and want me out or pay for it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMED USING THIS FACTILITY AS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS IN THE AREA THAT ARE CHEAPER. WISH ME LUCK, I'M SHOWING UP ON FRIDAY TO GIVE THEM THEIR MONEY AND HOPE THAT I DON'T NEED THE POLICE TO FACILITATE GETTING INTO MY UNIT. read more

After careful research and visits to several self-storage places, I chose Castle. The facility is well-maintained, always feels safe (unlike a couple others that I saw), and the staff are consistently pleasant and helpful. We used first when we needed to supplement space in our downtown home for out-of-season items, used again when we were transitioning homes, and again when we had to clear an apartment shortly after the death of a family member. This last time the location was not quite as convenient for us (we had. Moved to Brookline), but it was worth a little extra rive to use a good facility. I had space with these guys years ago. During this time I was in a near-fatal car accident resulting in a coma. Due to this event my rent fell behind as no knowledge was provided to my parents it even existed. After coming out of this coma and extensive surgeries I was able to shed light on this. We came to find out that my belongings would be auctioned the following morning for about $500 past due. My parents optioned to pay right then via debit card as they were staying out west in Amherst, Castle refused as they said my parents would have to win the auction. They even bragged to me later about how my space earned $150-$200 which was more than average at the time. My brother was informed, when also trying to pay them that " we could have taken their money but the coma scenario seemed like bull and the kid had a weird voicemail message". I can't stress to you how the loss of my belongings from childhood to age 21 still haunts me, but these guys could have taken our payment. To be clear this is from 2002/03 and I'd be glad to provide documentation backing up all if it. Unless you have a way of me purchasing back my childhood videos, pictures of my deceased father, diplomas,memorabilia, awards, pictures, my first guitar and 2/3 of my life then please understand this will forever be one of my worst experiences. It's not about being materialistic but I try to show my daughters things their father had or did pre-2002 and I have nothing thanks to 1-2 heartless people. read more

The guys who manage this location are wonderful; helpful, polite and friendly all the time. The Southie Castle (the only location I'm familiar with) is clean, and despite being pretty enormous, safe. I've been there in the middle of the day during the week and into the evening and have always felt comfortable. Accessible from the highway and easy to get to on mass transit (near the Broadway Red Line stop). If I ever need storage again, I'm going back to Castle. read more

Storage units really don't overjoy me, and they are hardly ever worth the money, but this one costs slightly less than it's competitors. The front desk people are usually nice. However, a few times the service was super slow and I was actually late for where I had to be, and another time the owner was "coincidentally" doing work next to my unit when I came in a few days later than my usual bill paying day. read more

Excellent place for storage. The units are climate controlled and the service is fantastic! I can't recommend them enough if you are looking for short term storage. You can't beat the location. However, given it is in Boston, the prices are equivalent to Boston location as well. So if you are looking for long term, try to negotiate for a better price. I used them for short term storage and was able to continuously go in and out to swap my stuff. Again highly recommended for short term storage! read more
