Reviewed the total price for the sale, the doc and selling fees added to the deal were fair and reasonable. The paper work was a breeze, although I was a cash buyer, so I cannot speak to the finance options. He did make me aware of the warranty options a few times but understood my desire not to purchase. In the end he helped with my two car logistics so I could get my new car were it needed to be. The thing that stood out the most about Cal West was their cars. My car was exceptional, low mileage, one owner, dealer serviced its entire life. As I looked at their inventory I saw the care they took in selecting their inventory. I did not see any cars on the lot that would be an automatic not buy. Quite the opposite everything I saw had strong consumer ratings no matter how old. Your mileage may vary but as someone in the business I would rate this independent used car business as way better than average. The fact that they have been in business for 45 years certainly says something about their ethics and business practices.

Upon bringing the vehicle home and checking thur the documents, specifically regarding Vehicle Check Column which was signed by their ASE certified tech. It indicated two keys and remotes. I was only given one key/remote. I emailed to my salesman Freddy. He called me the following day and said that they only had one key, and offer no option. The key is very expensive to replace. It really a very poor business practice. It appeared to me that all the technican did was just put check marks on the inspection sheet and never really done anything.

Excellent communication, service, and timely replies. I received a significant discount on the OTD price, even when including the BuySide Auto fee. On top of that, I NEVER had to step into a dealership, talk to a salesperson directly, spend hours playing the "let me ask my manager" game, or have to talk to a Finance manager and repeatedly say NO to unnecessary options. All communication was easily done through email and text, although phone and in-person contact was also available. Process starts with completing a convenient online request. From there, Kim contacted me to fully understand my wishlist, range of optional requirements, and any non-negotiables. After reaching out to their dealer network, within a day she provided a list of potential matches with estimated OTD prices, which included some in SoCal available for transfer to the Bay Area and cars still in production with estimated availability dates. I had a lot of questions and some requests and Kim was very responsive and instrumental in relaying them to the dealer and advocating for me. Even my request to remove all dealer installed options was negotiated by Kim and granted by the dealer with no hassle on my end. I paid the BuySide Auto fee to reserve the car for purchase and when the car was available I opted to pickup at their office in SF. Home delivery to SF is also currently no charge, while delivery outside of the city is available with a modest fee. Upon first contact, I asked if weekend pickup or delivery was available, since their normal hours are on weekdays. Kim made note of it and remembered my preference even after the sale was completed. Chris was able to make himself available for Saturday pickup! We took a walk around the car took a look inside. We spent no more than 10 minutes reviewing and signing paperwork, received my keys, and I was off with my brand new car! Both Kim and Chris were great to work with and I have no hesitation in working with them again for future car purchases.

Why risk a hard inquiry if you don't know if the vehicle is in great running condition after a test drive. Nobody wants a hard inquiry on their credit if they find something wrong after a test drive. Those hard inquiries last for couple years. The owner sounds like a douche and doesn't care about customers. What it sounds like he wants to do is trap you from buying a car since he already ran your credit check and mind you it's not just one lender they are sending your credit to, it'll be multiple lenders on your report that'll come up in your record. Why risk it? Credit isn't a joke, people like myself take that serious. Have customers feel confident first about the vehicle before making them do a huge decision in running there credit.
