Came in with a party of 9 including 2 babies. They put is in the back dinning room, perfect spot. Service was fast and friendly. I had the crab wrap which was delicious! Came with a side of redskin potatoes that were outstanding. My daughter had the Castaway waffle that was loaded with fruit: bananas, blueberries, strawberries and grapes. It was delicious. Wife had the cream cheese French toast that was also delicious. Glad we visited!

Came in late last night for our mini weekend trip and to our surprise the restaurant said they close at 8pm but allowed us to come in to eat. We showed up @730pm. Staff were friendly like always and the server did a great job getting refills and bringing us utensils and things we needed. My party of 4 got a mix of different items. I opted for the blt with fries, my sister got the crab cake sandwich with fries and my daughter got a cheese steak with fries. We ended up getting a slice of carrot cake and cheese cake. All the food was so hot, fresh and tasty. Food is always on point here and always so fresh. Definitely our go to spot when down here.

This place was very nice. We had a group of 4 adults & 5 kids. They sat us in a. Quiet area that we had to our selves. The waitress was very attentive and nice! The food was cheap and very good ! When I'm in the area again I will come again!

Great little breakfast / lunch spot for a classic diner experience. Friendly servers and standard diner breakfast and lunch selections. Bottomless coffee and good breakfast selections. Tried the eggs and the omelettes, and the pancakes. All were good. No frills but perfect for a diner type meal.

Huge portions and the food and service were great! We had a party of 9 - plenty of space for us all. . Seated quickly! Celebrating the 6th birthday of my neighbor's grandchild . Very family friendly! Such a nice time. Would go again for sure!

Always a great meal when we come here! This time around I got the crab melt with shrimp salad and it definitely exceeded my expectations! The crab was so delicious and harmonized with the melty cheese.

Was looking for some breakfast before hopping on the ferry to Lewes and saw the good reviews and stopped in for breakfast to fuel up for some biking. When I walked in, I was welcomed by staff members and was quickly seated. Shortly thereafter, was sipping on a much needed cup of coffee. Did not want anything to heavy and was happy to see Monday's breakfast special which was 1 pancake, 1 breakfast meat, 1 egg, home fries, and coffee for only $4.99. The meal was decent and you could not beat the price anywhere. After placing the order, food came out pretty quick and was as described. Definitely joined the clean plate club and was the perfect portion for what I was looking for. All in all, a great fins that I will be sure to visit again. While I did not take advantage of the coffee refills, they did attempt to top of my coffee which is always a sign of good service. While I took advantage of the breakfast special, there were many items to choose from that seemed equally as tasty.

Been here a few times now and each time the meals have blown me away. Castaway is a very well run place from top to bottom. Each time we've visited here the place has been packed, but it never seems to affect the service. Everything still runs as it should even when the restaurant is full. Their menu is pretty big serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts. They have all of your American diner staples so it shouldn't be too tough to find something good. The menu might seem simple but everything is a lot better than you would expect. My favorite dishes so far have been the Prime Rib and the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Most recently I've had that Prime Rib and that piece of meat was cooked just the way it was requested, was super tender, and tasted amazing. Your money goes pretty far here too. The menu prices are very reasonable with very good portion sizes, even for a big boy like myself. I don't really have any criticisms of the place and would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

After receiving suggestions to go to Castaway Cafe, we decided to give breakfast a try and very much enjoyed it! Our timing was perfect as a rush coming in as we were leaving around 11:00am on a Sunday. Our waitress Maryanne was a doll, giving recommendations for a return dinner trip and ensuring we enjoyed our meals. I had the crab Omlette which was the perfect balance of crab, old bay, cheese and egg. As someone who loves condiments and sauce it would have been even more enjoyable with a creamy sauce on top. The homemade home fries we're delicious and the portion was perfect at a reasonable price point. Others at the table enjoyed the sausage and gravy biscuits, stuffed french toast, and build your own breakfast sandwich. Definitely planning on heading back, perhaps for dinner next time!

We headed here for dinner later on a Monday night and we're pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. The service was top notch and super helpful with this being our first visit - thanks Kim! The food was better than expected and the portion size(as others have commented )are significant. We could have fed a family of 4 on the shrimp scampi alone! Soup and salad starters were great, plus warm rolls. Not sure if the soup is made on site, but was very good. Appreciated that we could get one of the soups to go. We also had chicken parmigiana and fried shrimp which were very good. All the sides were generous and did not disappoint. We tried the mac n cheese, hand cut fries, mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. All were really good. If I had one critique it would be more vegetable side options. They could already offer -we didn't think to ask, but it wasn't on the menu. The costs are more than reasonable for the portion size. We will be back for sure!

Service was slow, food was okay. Half an hour for breakfast to come out in a maybe half packed restaurant. And it was dry.

I thought the prices were outrageous on almost everything to be honest. My friend warned me about that before we went I know the various vendors set their own prices, etc. this is in beautiful Cape May so high prices are to be expected. I did purchase a beautiful piece that was a plate style decoration with probably the most gorgeous abalone I had ever seen! Vivid pinks, greens, blues and purples it was lovely and I felt the price was very good. When I went to the counter to pay one of the ladies asked me "what are you going to DO with that- hang it on a wall?" That kind of triggered me. I said "Not every single thing we buy HAS to have a practical purpose- we CAN buy things because we admire and enjoy them!" She was speechless. It was almost like asking me "what are you going to DO with a piece of art." I enjoyed this place and would go back. It is aesthetically beautiful!

So we went early (no problem being seated around 5:30 or so, but it did seem full an hour later) and were we ever rewarded. Everything was simply perfect, including Vicki, our veteran and down to earth waiter. When we are unsure of things, she provided expert guidance with kindness and wisdom. The mussels appetizer are an experience not to be missed - save the bread for lapping up its saucy juice. My wife loved the pork chop - its huge and she took half home for lunch. I devoured the blackened fish of the day over bok choy. Both simply were outstanding. If/when again in Cape May again, we'd certainly come back. With a reservation!

Second night, round two: I love a good turkey club but I would've willingly sold my right pinky for one this good. I nearly had to unhinge my jaw to bite into this beast. I again met my match and had to take half of it to-go. Did I have it later that night? No! I popped open that tray for a breakfast club the next morning and the flavour never missed a beat. The cute decor was spot on. Can't believe it took us so long to try this place! Our only complaint, (and really it was my husband's) is that the maître D needs a little sprinkle of Xanax in her orange juice. She's completely spastic and yelling at everybody and was super overwhelmed. I asked her if it was common to be this busy and she said "EVERY SINGLE DAY"- ( I was thinking maybe she's being so crazy because this is a one off but apparently it's every day and she can't get with the program lol) But busy is good! They're clearly doing something right. My husband didn't want to go back after seeing the maître D yelling at everybody, but I was like I just ignore her - she's just over overwhelmed (apparently daily lol). But if you can get past her outward nerves while waiting for a table- it's worth it and a 10/10 experience. Our son absolutely loved eating his chocolate chip pancakes while watching the planes take off!
