Breakfast Shot
Alexis P.

Came in on a Friday morning and it was not too busy. We were seated at the bar. Pictured: The hot pepper chicken sandwich with a side of breakfast potatoes. I believe this might be a newer item on the menu. It was absolutely delicious - chicken was juicy and perfectly fried. The balance between heat and sweetness from the jam was the perfect combo in a bite. Also ordered, breakfast shots served with OJ and side of bacon. Great breakfast and staff were great. Definitely recommend.

This place slaps you in the face with souther vibes the minute you walk through the door. Everything was delish but that SAUCE was top notch. They were attentive and made sure we were being helped even during a rush.

Short rib hash

What a great place to eat! This short rib hash was phenomenal and rich! I think it needed more salt but the famous hot sauce was worth it! Service was great and we had Grace!

This restaurant was recommended to us from a local! Plus the Restaurant was on Triple D! Everything we ordered was amazing! The friend chicken and biscuit in the dirty south was out of the world! The blueberry pancake tasted like a thin pound cake! So good! Our waitress was helpful in ordering and great personality! The restaurant was super clean.

BELT with potatoes
Nancy B.

The Cast Iron Kitchen had a real cute vibe. There was so seating outside, but too windy today to partake. I ordered the BELT with a side of potatoes. The sandwich was incredibly large, as were the potatoes. I had to cut the sandwich in quarters and use a knife and fork to eat the potatoes. The BELT is just a BLT with an egg and some sauces that were very tasty. The overall portions were meant for a giant. I took half home and sliced the potatoes into a more manageable size and reheated them in my air fryer. The service was excellent.

I recently visited Cast Iron Valentines weekend. I called about 20 minutes ahead to get on the list (it was a 45 min wait). Arrived, checked in, and wait about another 20. Service was great but I wasn't enthusiastic about the food. I felt like the menu was just weird and a bit overpriced. I ordered an omelet which was just okay while my Fiance ordered the shrimp and grits. Th shrimp and grits were on the good side but just felt greasy. The restaurant itself was cute, farmhouse ish.

Dirty South Biscuit*

We went to CIK at 10 am on a Sunday so we were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait & we were given the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The Maple Cinnamon roll is a MUST get & I enjoyed the robust flavor profiles in the Dirty South Biscuit bowl because every ingredient shined through. There were numerous breakfast cocktail options & my friends who ordered this enjoyed them as well. I took off one star because our waitress would ask us a question & walk away in the middle of our response every time she engaged with our table. She also tried to take our plates away when we were still actively eating off them. We weren't super bothered by it - just seemed strange because there wasn't a line or need to quickly turn tables that day.

I had better omelette for much better price else where.

I honestly don't know what the big deal about this place today I went for the first time and I won't go back again I don't recommend it the wait is more than 40 minutes you can wait outside or in your car inside the restaurant they definitely tell you that you can't enter until they call you after ordering our food another half hour wait and the truth is the food wasn't great the service was regular nothing extraordinary. The prices are high and the wait is very long.

First off, one of the orders was for scrambled eggs which came out like a folded omelette. The eggs had a weird taste. Not sure if it's the oil they are using, but the egg whites didn't taste good either. The grits were weird and tasted pasty and undercooked. The country ham was dry and very salty. The biscuits were good and quite large enough to eat the next day with butter and jam. Overrated IMO. The service was great and the staff was friendly.

Bloody Mary

No complaints about this breakfast! Everything was delicious. Of course being DDD fans we wanted to check out what Guy got - The Not My Mommas Meatloaf and The Dirty South Biscuit, both were really good and super filling. I had seen on another review that the service was bad but we had excellent service and food came out in good timing. We went on a Friday morning and it was busy but we were still able to get a table, I do imagine the wait may get a little long on the weekends. It's got a southern country chic feel inside, nothing too fancy but a great place to stop in if you are in the area!

This place was recommended by my Airbnb host, service was awesome. I went early on a Sunday before the crowds came. Was seated right away. I opted for the meatloaf sandwich and a pancake on the side. The sandwich had a nice flavor but was a bit dry for my liking. The grits were delish and creamy and piping hot. Prices were reasonable.

We ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer which was unique because it was sliced mushrooms. The batter was delicious with the mushrooms being lightly fried, and they stayed crispy the entire time which is awesome for fried food. We ordered a large fried shrimp platter, and these are probably the best fried shrimp I've ever had! My fiance really liked the coleslaw as well and the fries. We also ordered the small pulled pork platter with fried okra. The pulled pork was so tasty that it didn't even need the barbecue sauce that came with it! The fried okra was crispy and delicious. We were thought we were finished and full until one of the owners came by the table to ask us about dessert. This blueberry cobbler was the best, and it came with cinnamon ice cream too. There also was an amazing chocolate layered cake- the chocolate ganache on top was perfectly balanced with the cake. The interior of the restaurant is welcoming with lots of different sized tables and fun lights (the mini whisky barrel lights are so cute!). You can tell how much love and prayer the owners put into every touch. Even the bathroom is so pretty with a sugar scrub at the sink and little mirrors on the front of the bathroom stalls. Make sure you read their core values sign as you enter the bathroom- beautiful, heartfelt, and tells you everything you need to know. Everyone working is so friendly and welcoming- you feel like you're at home! I can't wait to come back to try the Mac n cheese and brisket!

Our service was quick and efficient! We snuck in right before the rush around 5:45 PM our server Kyra was wonderful! Her timing was excellent and her suggestions were spot on! She was friendly, efficient, and just added to the great experience that all four of us had! My husband and I shared the mahi special and something called Crete Beets ( spelled on the menu beats); both were absolutely delicious! The mahi was prepared perfectly and had a nice light creole sauce which they put on the side for dipping and the crab mac & cheese was delightful with asparagus that was cooked on point; not overdone and not underdone which I know in restaurants is sometimes difficult to do. The crete "beats" was more or less a charcuterie board of roasted purple and gold beats with the most delicious whipped dip and perfectly seasoned and baked pita some of the best I've ever had with olives and cucumbers, and pickled red onions! I can't really describe the dip and apparently it's top-secret because I asked for the recipe! Our friends ordered the beet salad with extra beets; shrimp Tapatio and a bowl of the soup of the day. All were delicous and there was not a crumb or a drop left on their plates while my husband and I were still eating ours! The soup of the day was a potato jalapeño cheddar and it did not disappoint! this seriously is one of the few consistent restaurants on the island! I'm still dreaming about my food this morning!

It feels relaxed, welcoming, and full of appreciation for the music and history. Soul music belongs to everybody who loves it, whether it's classic soul, Motown, or even a little blue-eyed soul mixed in. This place feels like it's celebrating that tradition, not exploiting it. Natalie took great care of us and gave us the kind of service that makes you feel right at home. I had the chicken and noodles, which were rich, comforting, and the sort of dish that would make your grandmother nod in approval. Mimi had the Tropical Tikia Marsala with scallops, shrimp, mahi filet, mango, pineapple, coconut rice, and it was outstanding--sweet, savory, and just different enough to make you wonder why more places don't cook like this. We finished by sharing the warm toffee pecan bread pudding, and if you leave without trying it, well, that's like walking out of church before the choir sings. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Soul Flavor is a Carolina Beach gem, and we'll definitely be back.
