I would be cautious coming here if you have allergens. We ordered the tahdig with ghormeh sabzi as an appetizer, 52. filet mignon & beef kabob, and 53. chicken soltani for entrees. We told them my friend has a nut allergy to prevent cross contamination, and the waiter said there's nothing on the menu with nuts. However, fesenjan has walnuts. We weren't even sure if he told the cooks to be careful because he seemed not knowledgeable on nut allergens. Then a different waiter came and gave us pita bread with some dips to which we told him we didn't order until we realized it was complimentary. When we asked him he looked incredibly confused. We got one filet mignon and beef skewer for one of the dishes but they gave us one chicken and one beef. We told the waiter, and he said it was right two beef. We had to tell him again that clearly one was chicken. We also got our entrees first before the appetizer. We asked twice about the tahdig to which the waiter said it would come. The 2nd time we asked he said they're out of tahdig. Then we asked if we can order the gormeh to which he said they're out of everything including the tahdig and all the stews. It was 7 pm on a Wed. 2 hours before closing, and they were out of a lot of dishes. He gave us some excuse, but he could have told us before we ordered if he knew that almost everything we wanted were out. The beef skewer and the chicken were really good and had a lot of flavor. Overall great quality food. We are outside. They are trying to balance the service on tables versus take out. You can feel the issue is lack of servers. But the food was very flavorful, we had the beef and chicken kebabs with the appetizer sampler. They were out of falafel but everything else was wonderful. Their food is excellent. Kashke Bademjan - a mashed eggplant dish. It comes with a garlicky yogurt dip and another yogurt dip (not sure what they're called). I enjoyed the garlic and eggplant combo on top of their soft pita bread. I would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting especially if you love eggplant like me! Shishlik (lamb kabob) - delicious. the lamb was juicy and tender. I would order this again and recommend it to others. Chicken kabob - there were many chicken kabobs on the menu! Sadly, I don't remember the name of this dish but the chicken was really good and I enjoyed eating it with the berries and rice. Definitely haven't had anything like this rice before - other places I've been to just serve regular basmanti rice. Service was ok. Our server accidentally delivered our food to another table... after a 20 minute wait (': One of the ladies came and apologized to us and offered us more pita bread (although this time it was dry) and a cucumber tzatziki-like dip, but I guess communication between staff could be worked on. Cleanliness of the place is a little questionable. I noticed flies flying around near the entrance and some in the bathroom since all the doors were open. Meh, bugs. Came in with a coworker today for lunch. It took a while for us to get seated at first, but eventually we ordered and waiting nearly 30 minutes for our food. I ordered the chicken gyro wrap. It didn't have a lot of flavor and the meat was dry. They also gave quite small amount of fries. My coworker ordered a kabob plate. It was quite pricey for lunch (~$30). While the portion was pretty huge, we both agreed that the meat was too dry and a good chunk of it was too burnt. An oasis of Persian cuisine awaits in a small unassuming strip mall on El Camino Real. Though I don't often eat this sort of food, I've gotten lucky the times I have. Caspian is a brilliant, inviting place to order out or dine in on superbly executed Persian and Mediterranean recipes. Baba Ganoush is an elevated fabulous appetiser to start off a meal. The eggplant dip was infused with a very smokey spice. Being rather illiterate about Middle Eastern seasonings-- I wouldn't know za'atar from sumac-- I can't precisely identify what's in it. But safe to say, if you like chipotle or cigars or scotch or anything with a smoke-y dimension, you'd seriously enjoy Caspian's baba ganoush. Lamb Shank Polo is a glorious entrée. The shank is braised and sitting in sauces on a hot cast iron casserole. Meat was falling off the bone. Koobideh of Beef is succulent and tender, exactly what it should be. The ideal Mediterranean meatball recipe-- only this is shish kebab. From service to food, everything imparts excellence, vibrance and generosity. Also, if you need to use the facilities, the ladies' room is lovely, clean and nicely decorated with a quirky light-up water feature. By the by, I arrived to the bright welcoming Caspian after almost dying on a hike.. thanks E-dubz, can't believe I made it. So the restaurant also earns my gratitude for not kicking me out due to post-hike grubbiness. My Yelp pals have not steered me wrong and absolutely nailed the rating. This little hidden gem in a strip mall is something I am so grateful to have found! The best part? Our 4 year old toddler loves the food here and suggested our Friday night dinner to be this place! Here's a low down 1. The appetizer sampler: delish! Comes with falafel, one of the best falafels I've had. Then dolmas. I'll be honest I'm not a dolma person because they're usually served cold at most places. However this one is another level! The warm dolmas are like little pockets of delight in my tummy! Then a variety of dips and plenty of pita for the table. The pitas are fresh and warm and each of the sauces/dips we tried were so exceptionally good! 2. Chicken thigh kabab: by far the best kababs I have ever had! Portion on point. Flavors on point. Satisfaction guaranteed! It is juicy and so full of flavors that you'll want to order more! Of course, none was available that day and the rack-of-lamb was recommended. I opted for the mixed plate of koobideh (seasoned ground beef) and ground chicken while my friend ordered the rack-of-lamb along with the kashke badmejan. My dish was okay and nothing to wow about....the chicken (for me) was not my fave....i think it was more of a texture thing as it seemed 'bouncy'...let's just say if you like fish balls or McD's McRib (um yeah) then you won't mind the ground chicken skewer...just wasn't my fave. The eggplant dip was delicious and flavorful but friend wasn't wowed by the rack-of-lamb either....not bad just nothing stood out and was pricey! Also, no more complimentary appetizer like pre-pandemic which I get.... Overall, 3.5 - 4 stars for this visit...I would definitely return to try other entrees but will pass on the ground chicken kebab...just a preference so won't knock it....AND guess what (some of you Yelpers!) i didn't ask them to take it back and remove from my bill...just saying...just won't order it next time! read more

Tonight was a disappointment for me and my family. Been here several times but left tonight knowing we won't be back. It's obvious there is no tasting of their cooking as flavoring was off on several dishes. Sirazi was bitter as can be...which is not the taste one expects. Rice was flavorless...no butter or seasoning. Koobideh was dry and unfortunately no amount of somac could help it. This was the first time I tried this dish and was very pleased with the eggplant and mint flavors. The waiter might have forgotten about the appetizer, it came after the main course. We had to remind him for appetizer and then again for pita bread that comes with it. For main course we ordered Chicken kebab and veggie kebabs. The chicken was nice but bit on the dry side. The veggie kebabs weren't so great. They were just like veggie skewers. The menu listed the dish with hummus but they were out of it . My sister and I came here to celebrate our friend's birthday. It is a nice, warm and simply decorated restaurant located at a strip mall In Mountain View with plenty of parking. I love that even the water they serve is cucumber and lemon flavored, it's a nice touch of hospitality. At first, i thought the dish I ordered was huge, but really if it it had only one piece of meat it would have been a nice sized portion. The lamb and beef combo platter was a good sized dish to share with my sister. The rack of lamb was very tender and tasty. I'm glad to have found a non-gamey tasting lamb. The rice was good too. I liked the eggplant salad (Kashke). I definitely would have loved it if it had more garlic in it. But that's just me, I like lots of garlic since it deters vampires and people. read more

Mi friend and I met cat Caspian Cuisine on a Tuesday at 6:15 pm three weeks ago. We enjoyed the food and told them so when they asked us. They requested a yelp review and we said OK, but then around 7:30 they kept coming interrupting our conversation, which we didn't like. At 7:55 pm they said they were closing. We were very surprised, as Google has them listed as open until 9 pm (even to this day!) I made a mistake and used the wrong credit card, but since I am rarely in the area (I went specifically to dine there that night!), it has taken me to today to stop by and request a transfer to another card. The response from the same lady who asked us for a review was a dismissive "oh, we changed our system, I cannot do it." And she just moved on to the next person who was processing a to-go order. I do not believe that you cannot keep your accounting current just because you change your payment system. What if you get audited? Are you going to say that to the IRS, for example? I had the $100 receipt, of course! She didn't even ask me!! So I am not satisfied at all because a reimbursement and re-credit is, I understand, an inconvenience, but on the other hand, a very normal operation to be expected from a customer, especially one you would like to see come back! read more

Wife purchased for $10 a $25 restaurant.com voucher, minimum purchase $50, for Caspian Restaurant. There was some urgency to this request, as restaurant.com has recently raised the minimum purchase from $50 to $75 in several restaurants. Came here at 5pm on a Friday, plenty of parking in the shopping strip. Place virtually empty both inside and out. All restaurant personnel wearing masks at all times. Both of us vaccinated but choose an outdoor table, complete with sun umbrella and privacy wall between us and the parked cars in the parking strip. Ordered the $31.95 lamb and Koobideh plate while wife ordered the $28.95 lamb fillet kabob. I ordered my lamb medium, and the wife medium rare. A very large serving of cooked pita bread comes beforehand. Seems stale, as maybe it was sitting out for a few hours from lunch, as it is crusty and lukewarm. Comes with garlic or cucumber dip. We both dig into the garlic dip. After a leisurely amount of time, our dishes come. Huge plates, remind me of those 24" pizza plates, complete with skewered meat, basmati rice with saffron, cooked tomato, and small salad of sliced cucumbers and lettuce. Salad has no dressing, except for the sliced lime. Would have preferred even a basic vinagrette dressing. Wife's lamb is disappointedly medium, and not medium rare, but still juicy and tasty. This is not the minced lamb you see at cheaper restaurants, but a real 18" kabob fillet of lamb meat. Love my dish of lamb and especially the ground beef skewer, and eat up both my rice, and most of the wife's rice, as the basmati rice with saffron goes well with any of the tasty, juicy kabobs here. Celebrating wife's 68th birthday, without the ex for a change! On our way out, we meet the musician who plays music indoors. Middle eastern music, the type that belly dancers perform. Don't need a restaurant .com voucher to lure me here again, if you got those scantily clad sensual belly dancers performing to the music! read more

Went for Dinner Food - 5/5. Pita bread was warm and just thin enough. Hummus had great consistency with bits of spice to liven up the flavor. Shallot yogurt shocked me on how such a simple dish can be so incredibly delicious! The slightly sweet and zingy shallot flavor was prevalent throughout the yogurt, which was perfect as an addition to just about everything. Koobideh had great sear on it with a firm bite that gave the skewer texture. Lamb chops were seared well with a distinct yellow hue from its seasoning. It was a little more cooked than I would have liked, especially near the bone, but it was still tender and seasoned well. Salad was refreshing, the tomato's natural sweetness was intensified from the grilling and the rice was fluffy. Stew and rice sampler really showcased authentic flavors and plating styles that I've never seen before. One stew was hearty with beans and tender meat, the other had a nutty texture from pistachios and the red stew had a rich tomato flavor with an amusing topping of french fries. Both polo options were fluffy with either a hint of sweetness from the raisins or earthy notes from the herbs. Service - 5/5. Very accommodating and kind service! I'm not certain if the pita comes regularly with two dips as a service, but they were most appreciated. She noticed how much we were enjoying the shallot yogurt and brought us even more. The atmosphere and her kind smile made the entire experience feel very welcoming. Value - 5/5. The culinary experience was fantastic in flavor, authenticity and variety. This time we had new servers, so no one looked familiar it the manager said the owners are the same. Service is fast and excellent. There was no music on a Thursday night and just as well, the ceilings are so high, if there was music, no one could hear themselves think. The room is large and holds maybe 60? All are tasty, I like the original the most as the tahini flavor is very flavorful. The stew are interesting to try but not too much compared to the rice portions. There are pomegranate and walnuts chicken, spinach beef, and lentil beef with fries on top. My personal preference is the pomegranate and walnuts chicken though it may be a bit too sweet.
