Had pizza from this local place in Coal City. It only has it for delivery and takeout. Geo's Pizza…read moreis about the smallest interior of a pizza place there is. Only has a counter to place an order. The prices are pretty good especially for the various lunch specials. Checked it out at lunch, which turned out to be the best time to come here. It's known for the specials at lunch. These are pretty cheap for a pretty good amount of pizza. Of course they have a lot more on the menu. We got a few things. It's about $6 for the Geo's Bread. This is basically pizza dough seasoned with garlic and salt. Comes with a choice of dipping sauce including garlic butter and marinara. It's about $7.50 for the Lunch Special. You can get a pizza with one topping. It's miniature size so it's not a lot. The Geo's Bread is actually a lot bigger than this particular pizza. It's still a good value to be honest. These specials also include calzones and sandwiches if not wanting a pizza. Got to say it's the best pizza around here. It's a small place that only has delivery and takeout. They're open daily and open even later on the weekends.

Sauce did not cover crust completely and crust tasted different. Maybe they gave me a gluten-free crust. If so, that was NOT what I ordered. Sad to see an old friend fade away.

We stopped into Top Fuel today to check out their Daytona 500 special -- the Hillbilly Surf & Turf…read more It's a fun combo of a Crawfish Boil served alongside Meatloaf, and it definitely caught our attention. We've been here before for their Friday Fish Fry (which is excellent), so we were looking forward to trying something different. I ordered the Mudbugs (crawfish) only, while my wife ordered the combo with Mudbugs and Meatloaf. The underlying motivation? She doesn't eat Mudbugs -- so I knew I'd be getting a bonus portion. The Mudbugs were cooked from live crawfish and seasoned with a classic Cajun blend. They varied in size but were served in generous one-pound portions. The flavor was fresh, well-seasoned, and exactly what you'd hope for in a good boil. Now, the real surprise was the Meatloaf. My wife loves Meatloaf but is extremely picky about it. I can honestly say she loved this one. After trying a bite myself, I agreed completely. It had a rich, beefy flavor, was moist throughout, and the ends had that perfect crunchy outer crust -- which is always the best part. We also ordered the Jalapeño Poppers. They had a nice crunchy exterior, and the pepper and cream cheese filling was creamy without being overcooked -- a solid appetizer choice. Top Fuel has that fun, laid-back dive bar atmosphere with lots of friendly people just enjoying themselves. It's comfortable, welcoming, and easy to settle in for a while. We'll definitely be back soon.

Polk-A-Dot is one of the few happening places in Braidwood it seems. A long time favorite of the people who live here. The walls are chock full of memorabilia and miscellaneous stuff that was at one time someone else's junk, and became this place's treasures. As expected, ice cream is the main thing to get. It's unfortunate they're always out of lots of items. There's already not a whole lot of variety. A pretty basic looking menu. There's the hot items including the burgers and hot dogs, along with fries and other sides. Basically we came more for the experience. She got one of the cones, which is about $3 or so. Limited flavors. The last time they only had vanilla. It's about $5 to get the fries and slaw combo. Probably about the only thing that isn't meaty. Basically the memorabilia was more interesting. They appropriately have a Grease poster, along with old timey things like jukeboxes on tables. Outside they have figures you can pose with including James Dean, Elvis, and Marilyn Monroe. This is a cool way to have fun for a few minutes or something. Best thing is the experience to be honest. It's located on Front Street by the tracks. This is one of the few ice cream places that's open even in winter.
