Recently ordered food here while I was doing projects nearby with friends. This restaurant is a local favorite and I wanted a grilled chicken sandwich on my end. The chicken sandwich came out and looked absolutely repulsive and it was plain and baptized in barbecue sauce. I figured after I took a bite, it may be better. Absolutely not! It was pretty repulsive and I was ultimately disappointed. My party that also ordered here actually was pretty satisfied with their pizza and breadsticks order so I give them props for satisfying their order. Food prices are also very cheap for the area. Fair wait for pick up times. Overall, I personally wouldn't come back here. read more

It's so hard to choose what I want to eat when I come home for a visit. Pizza and beef roll are always at the top of the list. Edited to add: My boyfriend specifically told them no peppers and no cheese. Which they put both on my sandwich and then made a half ass attempt to remove what they could see... leaving both cheese and peppers on the sandwich. They're not making pizzas... and couldn't even make a beef right. I downgraded my review to one star because of this. Food is great which is why I gave two stars. Ordered pizza last night, undercooked and over greasy (we order from here like 6 times a month and it's never been that terrible. We threw it out). Tonight I tried to place a pick up order just for a beef sandwich. Apparently they can't be bothered to answer the phone. I called 27 times. Only three times did it actually ring and when it did, it rang and rang until I was hung up on. My boyfriend went to order the sandwich in person, and when he mentioned that I had called over and over, the guy said "we're just leaving the phone off the hook". Excuse me? He wasn't even apologetic in the slightest. Apparently they're out of pizza dough, and instead of picking up the phone and doing their job by letting customers know they're out of dough (at 7pm on a Friday? Terrible enough in itself) but to just leave the phone off the hook because you can't be bothered to answer the phone? What are you doing that you can't pick your phone up if you're not even making pizzas? Lazy is what that is. Apparently while he was standing there waiting for the food (that I tried to call ahead so he doesn't have to stand there with five other people) another woman came in very upset they're not answering their phone. I wonder what she'll say when they tell her "we're just keeping the phone off the hook" Last time we'll ever be ordering from there. Always enjoy Joe's pizza. Been ordering g here since I was a kid over 20 years ago. The beef roll is fantastic, as is the Sam Special. They also do cauliflower crust now and it is crispy like thin crust, while tasting similar to a dough crust. They stay busy, so expect at least 30-45 minutes for your pizza which is cooked in an old pizza oven. read more

The lady who answers the phone is rude. Ok, understand they get busy. Bit they've screwed up two $50 orders on us. When we called about it she just said "you obviously didn't know what you were ordering then." Um, we ordered the largest pizza and breadsticks, not two pizzas. Very poor experience. Ordered pizza for delivery. No price or delivery time over the phone. Pizza shows up and it's wrong. But what really made me give one star is the pizza quality. This was a very sloppy looking pizza. The sauce distribution was whack and spread all the way to the edge of the crust. Then cheese and toppings were basically just thrown on and mostly center loaded. Very very disappointed. read more

I have eaten at Sam's since junior high school. I enjoy their vegetarian options and my family occasionally orders delivery to this day. The food is usually good; however, occasionally we have food that is inconsistent. Sauce may be watered down, cheese is burnt or pizza is under cooked. More often than not the food is good and when we politely complained about an issue, Joe and crew fixed it. The owners are nice people with a great work ethic. Deliveries are most often a smooth transition with polite and friendly delivery folks. We have never eaten at Sam's but I would do so. Joe rehabbed the inside some years ago and it is a nice setting. Parking is sometimes problematic due to the Aapartment and laundromat next door, but you can park within a block and walk over. Joe has donated food to local events in the past, such as when the American Legion had their Gold Star Family dinner. I recommend Sam's and plan to ask Joe to try a vegan option for me. read more

My boyfriend wanted a beef roll and he had a restaurant.com coupon. He was unaware we had to dine in so he talked me into going there. We were greeted by the owners with a smile and they were very friendly. The restaurant was beautiful inside! I love that they had family pictures hanging up. I've never had a beef roll before so I can't compare it but it was awesome! The juice it came with made it even better! I was really glad we had to dine in to use the coupon! Great place! I called for the first time for a pizza delivery I was told that it was going to be 45 to 50 minutes after an hour and five minutes I was told she would be here any minute after an hour and a half I finally get my food my pizza is room temperature my garlic bread is saggy bruscetta we won't even talk about my point is don't give somebody a delivery time and then don't not take their phone number to tell them that their food is going to be late. So I called there and the lady tells me I have 20 deliveries what do you want me to do about it I told her she needs to space for deliveries better because my food was cold she then tells me if I want my food hot I should just come pick it up read more

Customer Service: I ordered a pizza from Sam's pizza in Marseilles IL. Upon entering the establishment both employees were in conversation, employees did not acknowledge me for about 10 minutes. I was then told it would be a few more minutes. When I received my pizza I attempted to use the certificate I purchased via restaurant.com. The employee told me that I had to eat in the restaurant to use the certificate. I told them that I didn't have a problem eating there. The employee then told me I would have to eat the whole pizza to use the certificate. I then told the employee there is nothing listed on the certificate for dine in only, additionally there is nothing that states customer's are not allowed to take home left overs. The employee became hostile and asked where I was from, I informed them that I am a current resident of the town. They then told me that I must have a paper copy of the certificate, I told them that it states on the certificate that all they need, is to validate the certificate with my phone and use the certificate number. The employee then told me they had cancelled the contract with restaurant.com and still refused to accept my certificate. It was a horrible example of customer service. I would give this establishment a higher rating but I place a very high importance on customer service since that is what sets my mood right before I eat. The Pizza: Coming from a family that owns several pizza business's I know pizza. Sam's Pizza is Good, especially for the size of the town where it is located. The pizza sauce they use is a tad too sweet, taste like they used spaghetti sauce or added too much sugar to their sauce. Additionally they use a cheaper brand of mozzarella however I don't blame them due to high cost of cheese. The dough was a tad too sweet too. However I believe that without the pizza sauce the pizza dough would stand quite well on it's own, for that reason I'd highly recommend bread sticks or cheese sticks. I would recommend this place for pizza in the Marseilles town, however don't expect to be treated decently. read more
