Bianchi's downtown is terrible. They burn the pizza every time, even when we asked them not to burn it. R. Grotto has a lot better pizza and better service and they are cleaner. The inside of that place is so dirty. They need to get some actual cleaning spray and clean the place. It seems like they are using just water when they do wipe off a table. It is so dark in there, probably to hide the dirtiness from everyone. They also only take cash which is inconvenient. There really is no excuse for not taking cards in this day and age. So my advice is clean up and quit burning your pizzas! read more

Really neat atmosphere, fast and friendly service. I really enjoyed the thin crust on this pizza but thought that the sauce was trying too hard..Sausage was average, but again that crust was on point. I would go back, even just for the atmosphere, which felt like it took us back time. read more

1st off, if you are not aware of the customs of this place, they will not become evident until you walk in. This place is cash only. Upon entering, you order at the desk and then seat yourself. (Seating is limited) There are no prices on the menu and the only selection is 3 different sizes of pizza with, I do believe, 6 topping choices. Bring enough cash to tip. So from a pizza standpoint, absolutely delicious. That pizza did not last the two of us. Roughly $20's all in all. Definitely will go back. First time here ! Very old style pizza parlor decor. Me and the wife went with a couple to this old style pizza restaurant on a Saturday night. It was very busy and packed, but moved quick and service was easy. Ordered at front desk and went to booth for seating. Very cool old colored glass and antique decorations throughout! This was our first time in Ottawa. My wife and I always like to find small good food places and this place was a hit. As city folk we were surprised that most of the town is cash only, so bring some green backs with you. The menu is simple, pizza in three sizes, a list of toppings and a choice of basic drinks. No prices are on the menu, but ended up being very reasonable. We chose a small Bianchis Special pizza. You order from the hostess and then sit down. It's a dark Victorian building, that somehow works. The plates are the size of a small saucer, and the drinks arrive shortly after. Once the pizza arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The small pizza filled us both up and the small square slices explained the small saucer plates. It's a delicious pie and I'd come here often if I lived closer. Well, the pizza was very good, and the toppings were generous, especially the cheese. That's a grand slam for my wife. I would rate it better than average for sure, but I don't feel the need to get it again. The menu is extremely limited, with pizza being the only option. The only options for the pizza were the toppings and the size - no choice of crust. It seemed odd to have such limited options, but maybe the philosophy is to do one thing and do it well. The decor is interesting I guess. If you like modern, forget about it. I don't know how to describe it, except to say it is unusual. I don't know if it's cool in a funky way, or just plain ancient. Doesn't matter much I guess. This does seem to be a popular place though, with a lot of people showing up as soon as the doors opened. Service was ok, nothing special, but nothing bad. With other options like The Lone Buffalo and BASH nearby, I'm surprised this place seems to do so well. Came here on a Friday night with a group of friends. This pizza place is a favorite amongst one of my friends and said we had to try it. It's so far from me I was joking we were going on a road trip. It was our dinner before a night out at a local bar that a band we like was playing at. I don't normally come out that way. We arrive and found a nice spot right across the street, was told parking can be quite the challenge. We walk in and surprisingly the wait was less than 10 min. I did find it strange that we had to order everything at the front, drinks included. The restaurant is nothing fancy, actually it's quite outdated and dark, not sure if that's on purpose. We sat in this ridiculously big and wide table and the chairs have no cushions or support. Our drinks came out pretty quickly, I ordered moscato. They have wine and beer on the menu. Right before the pizza came out they brought over our dishes, we had a nice laugh since the dishes barely held one square of pizza. They were tiny little dessert plates. After the weird ordering when you walk in, the ridiculous table and the tiny plates, I didn't expect much of the pizza. The saying "never judge a book by its cover" was very appropriate in this case. The pizza did not disappoint. We got a basic sausage and pepperoni and man oh man was it good. The crust was flakey, the sauce very flavorful and it had the right amount of cheese without being greasy at all. One of pizzas they brought out was incorrect and they let us keep it and brought out the right one. That's was great!! Our server was attentive and checked on us often. I would definitely go back. I'm not a huge pizza fan but this pizza was done just right. Oh and we had left overs, so after a night of drinking and dancing it hit the spot and tasted just as good cold. read more

Where to start ... this is our family-favorite for pizza. We have been going here, usually meeting some family friends a few times a year for nearly 25 years. It is a quaint building with nice decor. We have stated a few times that we'd love to know the history of the building, because there are some items that indicate it used to be an ice cream parlor. In our experiences, service has always been prompt. The pizza is delicious!!! Like I said, it's our family favorite - hands down! They use fresh ingredients for the veggies vs canned or frozen. They have the typical, full array of drinks -- beer (bottles), wine, malt bevs, sodas, etc; pitchers of soda are available. We have a weekly pizza night in our family and we don't live close enough to go here every week, but even among our more local pizza joints, we have not found anything that comes even close in comparison to Bianchi's. We usually order 2 of their largest pizza for our family of 5 thinking we might have some leftovers to take home -- we almost never have any leftovers. :-( Recommendation: if you like a little spice on your pizza, get the hot sauce. You will not be disappointed. I think it costs $1 and it's worth it. Now, a few things to be aware of if you've never been here before - 1. They only take cash. It's been that way ever since we've been going there and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon. There is an ATM at a local bank just down the way (within walking distance). 2. They do only pizza; they don't have salads and breadsticks and calzones, etc, etc, etc. But, when you do pizza as well as they do, you don't need the other stuff. read more
