It used to be good they changed the crust on the pizza like eating not a pizza I've had in the past

I have been going to Sam's for fifty years. The last years pizzas are unacceptable. You are better off getting your favorite frozen pizza. Had a small thin crust delivered, well done and for the fifth time, it was so undercooked I couldn't get it out of the box. I was so pissed, I drove it back! Remember it was delivered! Their response was sorry. No refund, no nothing. I wouldn't recommend an enemy as a joke to eat there. It ain't what it used to be. Good Luck! read more

An old favorite of mine since the 80s! This establishment has been in Ottawa since the 1950s and still popular as ever. Thrilled to see they have not changed their recipe. Extremely reasonable prices and tasty, fresh ingredients. Located off of Route 6, and more of a carryout place. They do have some indoor and outdoor seating. We got carryout and just before writing this, I managed to shovel half of a pizza in my mouth. Haha good to see that it is the same pizza I remember enjoying in my youth. My family and I ordered a regular medium cheese pizza with mushroom and half black olives. Extra red sauce on the side. Grand total $16! Whaaaat. Heads up they accept cash or check only. The mozzarella is so gooey stringy yummy. Plenty of sauce on the pie but I like extra. Seasoned perfectly. Picked it up and it was piping hot. By far worth my 30 min drive. People it's cash only and the pizza was on point. Mouthwatering doesn't do it justice. This place by far hands down best pizza around starve rock area. Only downside is it opens till 4pm. Overall service was fast great no problems ordering and the prices aren't crazy. Going to have to dine in one day. Two of us ordered beef sandwiches and garlic bread. They don't serve french fries as they don't have a fryer. Price was decent. Atmosphere was ok more of a fast food feel with lots of family photos. My daughter didn't feel well after eating her sandwich. She was in the bathroom for days. Garlic bread was ok. My Sister just graduated grade school and for a family party my Mother was ordering cheap $5 hot and ready Pizza. I was not having any of this, what could save the day and my sisters party? Sam's Pizza and their famous beef rolls! For those of you who may not be aware a beef roll is a pizza crust filled with Italian beef and cheese the covered again with another pizza crust and sprinkled with cheese on the top layer of crust! it also comes served with 2 cups of beef broth if you want your meal a little more Juicy. I called ahead which is always a good idea as the wait can become quite long in the evening hours paid my $15.00 (for a small) and scampered off to my parents house there where 8 guests who enjoyed the beef roll and we where all quite satisfied (my mother included). If it was not for the food being a heart attack in a box I would order it more but I like to maintain a healthy life style. I do think next time I order out for a party the beef roll will be on my list of things to buy. read more

Great greasy grub. I like Sam's, been going here for years. The crust is thin, the sauce is tangy with a little bit of sweet. Plenty of cheese too. I think they're open pretty late too. Stop by and have a pie, you won't regret it. read more

Very dissatisfied, & disappointed. We just moved here this summer, & last weekend one of our sons brought home a Beef Roll (pizza) that was very goid, with a ton of meat inside. So, this past Friday the 21st if December. we decided to order our 1st Beef Roll pizza. Got 3/4 Cheese, one thing layer of pizza. Not the same!! Bought this because we were going out if town with our grandchildren. No one in our party was happy! We were left with $20 of product uneaten! Husband asked politely when we got back in town if they could help us. As definite "No", that is SAD customer service. Sam's you have inspired me to write my first yelp review. You have given away my pizza to someone else for last time. You said "30min" on the phone- I was there in 29 - and you gave my pizza away "to someone you knew" before i got there - and then gave me a smaller pizza instead. It was cold btw. Many years ago, I lived in Ottawa and frequented Sam's and Alphano's because they had the best pizza. So I was anticipating getting pizza from one of them. It was recommended to me to go to Sam's. Big mistake. The pizza was one of the worst I have had in years. I ordered a thin crust pizza. The crust was soggy and not thin at. It had way too much sauce (so much the cheese slide off when you went to eat it. There was very little in the way of toppings and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. The cheese was good.. Living in Ottawa for 20+ years and they still have the best beef roll in town. Their cheese bread is also cheap and very filling! my absolute favorite pizza in ottawa. beats bianchi's by a mile, and r grotto comes in a close second, because of their nuggets. sam's is cheap and delicious. sauce is on the sweet side, crust is just right and TONS OF CHEESE! great place. can take a while for your order, but it's worth it. i think they deliver but i always go to pick up my pizza, as ottawa is not a large town and it only takes 5 mins to get anywhere. only gripe is they weren't open one sunday for lunch, when we were having a birthday party and needed pizza. :( read more
