Such a nice restaurant with really good food. We had their bonyacalda as an appetizer which was delicious. I had their two pc chicken dinner , family style. My salad had creamy Italian . My work recently had Verucchi's catered in and while I don't eat chicken on the bone, I really enjoyed their salad, homemade dressings and pasta with cheese and meat sauce. Mostaccioli is a simple dish, but also easy to mess up by overcooking the pasta, making a sweet sauce or being chintzy with the cheese, meat or sauce. Verucchi's was perfectly balanced and delicious. I haven't been to the restaurant, but I see they have chicken piccata on the menu and I can't wait to try it. If you're in Spring Valley, make a reservation and try them out. I want to give 4.5 stars but you have to chose whole numbers. The vibe is definitely Italian Supper Club ish and they even have a separate bar room that seems old school city Italian. Great drink selection, huge menu with many options. They actually had Zucchini Parmesan, angel hair pasta, and veal. Place was packed on a Monday night so make reservations. Service was excellent. Sad on Birthday. We have been here many times over 30 years with 3 generations. Lately food and service is going down as the new hires are younger. The same ladies are there that have been serving our family for a long time and they continue the great service tradition. Be aware of this and you will have a nice night. If you get stuck with the server that we had last night, than ask for a different one. She was younger than all the servers this eve. and was more interested in chatting behind the serving wall than serving us. This was disappointing as I brought my 18 year old son for his birthday and also to convince him that this location was still a good option for his friends, the younger generation. NOPE.. it was a miss for him. Our server barely spoke, and we had to ask what the specials and dessert was. She even told us that she would have to check in the back for a plastic spoon for to go food, as if it Seemed like we bothered her for everything. The Ambience is dated but appropriate. Food this visit was fair.. Bagna Caulda appetizer was good if you ask for bread. Server did not offer... To be honest I thought this was a different restaurant. Honest mistakes paid off. This restaurant has been in business since 1913, same family. A business that has been around for over 100 years must be doing something right. Wow, my guest and I were impressed. We have a special category, would we come back? We live 2 hours away, the answer is yes. We put our names on the wait list and went to the bar to wait. The bartender John was so welcoming, we decided to eat in the bar. There was only one lasagna left and I ordered it. The table next to us sat down after us and were told they were out of lasagna. Next thing I know I am told the count was off and there is no lasagna and I watch the table that was sat after us be served the last lasagna. I confronted our waitress and she said it was stuffed shells and it just looks like lasagna. I know what lasagna looks like...plus that table's waitress loudly said "it is a good thing you called ahead...". So which is it? She got the last lasagna that I had ordered or stuffed shells? We ate dinner tonight. Nice little restaurant. The service was great. The fried chicken was crispy and tender. However, the chicken lacks any flavor. Very bland. A good fried chicken has a light seasoning to enhance the flavor. The side were good. The salad was very basic. Greens only. Verucchis is without a doubt the best restaurant in the area. Great service, a simple old-fashioned ambience and an extensive menu, serving up the wonderful, delicious food. Also a great selection of wines. Waitresses are knowledgable, efficient and always friendly. Soothing background music. ALL dishes are superb but I lean to the chicken piccata, which is the best I have ever had. But ALL menu possibilities are wonderful, along with appetizers. Nothing exciting really on the menu. The food is mediocre at best. You get all iceberg salad with your meal which is just plain cheap. Tortellini out of a box that were unevenly cooked; the homemade meat sauce tasted funky. You get what you pay for. No idea what is Italian about this place. We came here regularly when we lived nearby, hadn't been here in 4 years, and the place has not changed a bit. I always order the zucchini parm. Thick slices of veggie with a light crispy batter coating smothered in cheese and red sauce. It comes with a house salad and a side of pasta. All was good. My wife ordered the spaghetti and meatballs...huge portion and the balls were very tasty! Ambiance is Elks club meets goombah underground, and prices are in line with expectation. "The Valley" is home to many great local restaurants and Verucchi's is the first that comes to my mind. Family owned and operated, you'll notice that many of the patrons are on a first name basis with their waiter/waitress even though there are no name tags. Verucchi's has a great selection of pasta dishes. As with many restaurants in the valley, Verucchi's serves "ravs and broth," which as you may expect, is small ravioli pasta in a chicken broth. I'd never seen that before, but it is a staple in the valley. One of my favorite meals of all time was at Verucchi's. It was a special--not on the menu, but if you see a risotto, sun dried tomato, mushroom and scallops special, you should definitely get it. read more
