Sooooo, I'm super disappointed because I've come here for years and years (like 8-10+) and today, I decided to drive 45 minutes out of my way to get a couple of German Chocolate & Lemon cupcakes. The 1st hint that I shouldn't have made the drive was being told they actually close at 5pm (although their hours online state 8pm.) I'm not sure these should even be labeled "cupcakes!" They are TINY now, like mini grocery store sized... (for the same inflated prices, of course.) The REAL tragedy is how DRY & STALE they are! I can't believe that instead of the DELICIOUS, signature German Chocolate icing engulfing the tops & dropping around the sides, as they've always had them...these have about a nickel size drop of GERMAN CHOCOLATE icing on the top, surrounded by the cheap, bland, chococolate whip junk. I see why Nothing Bundt Cakes took over the IE! I actually want my money back. ***These went in the TRASH after the 15 second test to see if the microwave would actually bring a little moisture back. Disappointing. Drove an hour to surprise friends. Bought 2 dozen cupcakes for the event ($100!). The cake part of most was dense and maybe even days old, andnthebfristing was way to sweet that people were scraping most of it off. Don't know how these won any awards. Maybe the baking and finishing has been sourced out. I would have been better of bringing a carvel ice cream cake. Lol read more

This place is good if you want to be hospitalized from a food allergy or from inadequate hand washing (see their health violations in the image I uploaded)! My boyfriend and I visit here on Friday and he was asking the worker if there were any walnuts in their Germain?/chocolate cupcake because he's very allergic to walnuts. The first worker said "...uhhh I dunno??", which is just a little alarming....You should know what's inside the cupcakes especially if customers may have food sensitivities or at least act like you're embarrassed you're unsure...BUT the worst part is, a second employee confidently chirped: "No walnuts in there. It's pecan! You're good." Lo and behold, boyfriend took a bite of an unsuspecting walnut hidden in the cupcake and his throat started closing up shortly after. eek!! Please educate workers to be familiar with the ingredients and to know the difference between a walnut and pecan! And of course, price point is high for the quality. The cupcake itself lacks flavor and moisture. It tasted strange and not fresh. The icing didn't seem like buttercream or anything I'm familiar with. Kind of like paste that drops into glops. My stomach also hurts after eating the cupcake. I don't really know what I ate. It didn't taste like a cupcake. Unfortunately, like another reviewer said, Albertsons and Vons cupcakes are much better. I got a peppermint chocolate snowman drawn marshmallow cupcake. There are limited metered parking spots or large parking garages in the area but more than likely you will be walking to this location unless you are a guest at the Mission Inn hotel . The store is well decorated in pink tones and feels like an upscale cupcake shop. I've tried many flavors and would say these are descent cupcakes. I have been given a dry cupcake a few times that tasted like it had sat out for a few days which is the reason for my three star review. I had a sweet tooth and as I was walking back to my hotel, I saw this cupcake shop. It's got a chic vibe, so I decided to drop in. The staff member was friendly and helpful. She greeted me after I walked in. It was late in the day, so the selection was limited. So I picked 2 Running Red Velvet cupcakes. The packaging is really nice. Each cupcake was packaged individually, in its own box. I ate both of them, they were fresh and tasted good, moist, not dry and not too sweet. But the flavors I have tried we're good. The place is decorated so cute. The service has been OK. I used to live in Riverside and this is by far the best cupcake shop I have ever been to. Now they usually have seasonal cupcakes and cupcakes in different flavors. Since I moved away from Riverside I don't get them as often anymore, but if I do go to Riverside I will definitely stop by to pick a few up. read more

I went in today 8/24/25 the girl working was absolutely so rude it was ridiculous. She was rude to the lady in front of me as well. Such short answers and just rude demeanor. Didn't even greet us. The cupcakes here not only look gorgeous but they taste delicious. I picked up some cupcakes for a bridal shower/bachelorette party. It was beautiful and came out just the way I anticipated. The cupcakes were VERY moist! It took me by surprise when the cupcakes were still moist the next and the following day. The reason for the star deduction was because the frosting was a little on the extra sweet side. I had to take off majority of the frosting to suit my taste buds. I also found it extremely difficult to find parking nearby to just grab and go. You have to park and walk to get to the store. So, I'm inviting Casey to attend an event at an International historic landmark. I get crickets??? If I can give it 0 stars I would. Walking in was not welcoming at all. I felt very uncomfortable. The store felt very chaotic. Looked dirty, what happened to the class this place use to have?!? I asked for the flavor of the month and they showed me a cupcakes that resembled mashed potatoes and gravy. I thought it was a joke and it was presented on a dirty cupcake tier. To top it off they were missing a lot of flavors. The cupcakes taste dry icing was crispy like it's been sitting there for days. I have been a regular for years and I was excited to come back after they announced their "reopening" my expectations were so high because this place use to be amazing. My experience today was horrible I could of got better cupcakes from Walmart. It's a sore thumb attached to the beautiful mission inn. What happened to this place?? Such a disappointment... When it comes to the hygiene of the employees the cashier had his hair down in his face. And the baker came from the back with facial piercings and hair in sloppy buns. I'm a longtime customer since the opening in 2009 when I was a college student (although I'm much more sporadic with my visits now that I've moved from Riverside). I went in today for cupcakes and was disappointed at the service of the employees. When I came in, not one employee greeted me (there were 4 in the front area). Despite their lack of hospitality, I made my purchase and left the store, only to come back in because I was not given or offered any cutlery after taking my cupcakes to go. I asked where the forks were and the employee's tone in response made me feel like I should've known they were tucked in the corner by the door. I grabbed it and quickly left again. I think it's important to make your customers feel good about spending money with you, and today I didn't get that kind of service. Nevertheless, I bought the cupcakes for nostalgia reasons. I couldn't tell you which one was better than the next but my favorite is the German chocolate and The sassy strawberry. But honestly every one of them is delicious. The store is so adorable and the cupcakes have really cute names. Everything is pink, including the receipt. There are shiny sprinkles on some of them and they look great in photos! The packaging alone made the cupcakes really special. I ordered the crownie, dark chocolate, and gluten free vegan chocolate. I would say the crownie is quite special (brownie and cupcake). I really liked the soft and moist texture of the batter. It wasn't too sweet either. Above all, I really appreciate the gluten free vegan options. My last visit was last week on 1/8/25. I went in to purchase my co-workers cupcakes as their Christmas gift, as I was out of work for a while due to injury. I have to say, I have NEVER been more disappointed! This was always my go to place for sweets, but lately a little disappointing to say the least. Cup cakes no longer have the same presentation, taste is not great, and breading is so dense. I purchased a total of 10 cupcakes, 4 of those were Red Velvet, but looked nothing like Red Velvet, nor did they taste like them either. They looked more like cupcakes anybody could've made at home and still look better! I don't know what changed, but after 12 years of being a loyal customer I doubt I will be coming back. read more

The store is very aesthetically pleasing, everything is cute and pink, even the packaging. Unfortunately, that may be the only good thing about this place. The cupcakes are overpriced, and although the cake part was not bad, the icing on the cupcake was just pure sugar. Honestly, I don't know how anyone can eat something so sweet, and I have a sweet tooth! The macarons are below average, too. I wouldn't come back, that's for sure. Take me back to Laguna Beach MTV days! I've tried Casey's Cupcakes a couple of times now and actually got to meet Casey at a work event. She honestly was so nice and bubbly with such cuteness! What I like about Casey's cupcakes is the piled on frosting, looking at it one would think it's hella sweet but it's not. The cupcake itself is moist and the frosting balances each bite. I can say it's one of the better cupcakes I've had. Thank you for being open on Christmas and being able to package my 6 cupcakes separately. Other cupcakes shops have a fit with request like that. What a cute little store. Kinda like walking into a tiny Barbie cupcake store lol EVERYTHING IS PINK! My favorite cake is carrot cake (lol yes I know) And so of course I had to get the carrot cupcake ! Now it is VERY easy to mess up carrot cake-overly dry is the usual culprit. THANKFULLY, this was not dry! I was actually pretty impressed with the texture. Was it the moistest batter I've ever had? No. But it wasn't dry and that means a LOT! (Esp for big batch baking) Flavoring is a bit more difficult for me to adequately describe. For some reason the only description coming to mind is "soft flavors".. it's not incredibly flavorful but it's enough to make you smile and take a second bite. Same with the frosting- good but not down right amazing (personally I'm not a frosting fan at all, so I only tasted enough to report on and then left the rest abandoned in the container lol) General Price = under $5/cupcake when I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come back and try another flavor. :) read more

This was one of the featured places upon checking in at The Mission Inn hotel. It was tempting, that's for sure! We went to go check it out. Cute place on the back side of the hotel. Wish there was an easier way to get to it other than walking all the way around the hotel, but it's close by if you have a sweet tooth craving. Open late too, 9 pm! A few small tables outside the store. There was a cupcake menu and a feature item... A cupcake shake... never had that before and it is exactly that! You choose your cupcake and they blend it into a shake! Interesting concept...I just didn't feel like drinking my cupcake that day. Instead for the hot day, we got an affogato and the flavor of the month cupcake... Smoking S'mores! We didn't eat the cupcake right away, and saved it until we got home later that evening. The affogato was the perfect ratio of espresso to ice cream. The cupcake was packaged in a nice safe box that kept the cupcake in perfect picture taking shape hours later with the long drive home from Riverside. We were finally ready to eat the cupcake, and it was delicious! From reading the previous reviews, the cupcake was not dry at all! It was perfectly moist and fluffy. There was also no mound glob of sugar frosting. Overall the cupcake was not overly sweet, it was well balanced and absolutely perfect! Gnats flying in the enclosed cupcake case. Employee was put off and the vibe was not welcoming which is totally different from the hotel staff. When we left clerk asked us to close the door. I wonder if I should've offered to bake the cupcakes, clean the case or train her on why she has a job. Without the customers, there are no sales! We've been coming to Casey's since they opened. Disappointed in the slow service tonight. Yes, it's Festival of Lights, but it was only 5:20PM when we got in line behind only 3 people. Took us 18 minutes to order. There's a sign outside that says cupcake shakes are $5.50, which is the only reason why I went in. When I got to the register to pay, I started my Apple Pay. The cashier stated they only accepted cash or physical card. Luckily I had 1 card with me and told the cashier they should get a sign because I would have been super annoyed that I waited in a super slow line and not been able to pay if I only had Apple Pay. She said they asked management and were declined on a sign. So ridiculous on management's part. She thanked me for my order and started helping another customer. I had to ask for my receipt. Nowhere in line did I see a sign stating that they were charging $0.45 for a paper bag but I was charged that. The shake that is promoted outside on the sign was not $5.50- it was $6.75. When I let the girl who made my shake know that it didn't get charged as the $5.50, she only said prices went up. Yes, it's only $1.25 and $0.45 for a stupid bag, but it would be nice to know that their advertising is false especially since the store doesn't have any prices posted for the items. We left the store with our shake and cupcake. The shake was so milky and not a shake consistency at all. It just tasted like milk and so runny. I didn't return to let them know because I wasn't about to wait in that line again. We won't return here as their cupcakes are mediocre and customer service isn't that great. read more
