On the stretch of Van Buren Blvd in Riverside, there are a number of cozy spots to grab a Donut. This mornings craving brought me to Donut Cravings. A corner shop with a number of hungry patrons grabbing their sweet morning fix. I greeted by a nice gentleman behind the counter. I ordered the Chocolate Chip Donut which could only be found at one other Donut Shop I've visited: Woodcrest Donuts and was looking forward to eating this one which looked like it had Dark Chocolate Chips vs the standard Milk Chocolate variant. This spot is located at Riverside's Wooodcrest Plaza (same shopping center where Stater Bros and Tuesday Mornings at). The donuts are themed by season (October Halloween donuts, December Christmas Donuts, January New Year donuts, etc) and they are ALL scrumptious. The staff was very friendly. Woke up and saw this place in my social media thread and thought, why not? So I drove 35 minutes to get here thinking the entire time about what I was going to have. I couldn't try everything so I brought my family for reinforcement, lol. Upon walking in the place was a normal small doughnut shop but they had other random merchandise inside for sale lake shirts bags, etc. so we selected a bunch of random doughnuts (see the pictures). Everything was fresh and soft. The staff was really nice and helpful. It was a delightful and delicious experience. I didn't taste anything I didn't like. Disappointing customer service. Last year I went in to buy graduation doughnuts. I did not pre-order and had no trouble picking up a few that morning. This year I figured my experience would be the same. Especially because they advertise "available at the store or you can order." Not the case. When it was my turn to order, the person behind the counter reacted as if she didn't know what I was talking about and was not helpful. At one point she seemed to understand, as she pointed to the back, and asked "how many dozen?" I explained I only needed 1 and she shook her head no. I shouldn't have been surprised because the person ahead of me wanted a blueberry muffin, that was in the case, and she also told him "no." While they had a line and several customers enjoying their doughnuts in the store, I will not be going back due to the poor customer service. read more
