I ordered some unique glasses so I wanted an optical shop that was experienced in these kinds of frames and had good prices for high index lenses. I went ahead and started going to different optical shops for quotes. One shop quoted me for a polycarbonate lens and their second lowest grade antireflective coating for $350.00. They did not sound confident in putting lenses on my frames as well. When I visited the King and Rose for a quote, Roland greeted me while attending to another customer. When it was my turn, he let me take a seat and informed me about their digital lenses after examining my frames. He quoted me a price of $350 for high index digital frames single vision frames with anti reflective coating. He let me know they are not responsible if the frames break but assured me that it would be fine. I paid and they told me the turnaround time would be 2 weeks. Fast forward a week and I get a call they are ready. I dropped by and got the temples of my new glasses adjusted. No problems with vision. During my first visit, I was immediately greeted by Roland who was assisting another customer. Dr. Provost picked up and clarified my needs. I needed to get my eyes checked and had seen Dr. Provost in the past, so I decided to go out of my way a bit and check out the new frames shop where he now splits his time. I never spend money (or time) on glasses but I was absolutely blown away by the experience I had! Upon entering the store I was welcomed by two lovely and knowledgeable people, Bryan and Alex. After offering me a sparkling water Alex patiently tended to me as I waltzed through the whole store trying on nearly every pair of frames they had. It was so fun, their frames are gorgeous! These aren't your run of the mill glasses, or even your "designer" diors and whatnot. These are handmade, unique and beautiful pieces that make you stand out. I was even fortunate enough to come in on a day they were having a trunk show and got to meet the designer who made the frames I bought! It's not often you get a chance to get feedback on how things look on you by the person who actually made them! Once I finally chose a pair Bryan stepped in to take all sorts of measurements and made sure everything was just right. A week later I got a call saying they were ready and excitedly went to get them. Again, Alex was a doll and Bryan made 3 or 4 little tweaks to make my new glasses perfect. They fit like a glove, I see very clearly and I couldn't be happier! All of my glasses in the past have been from quick stop eye places and I didn't know how cruddy they were until I got my new glasses from King and Rose. Friendly staff - has the right amount of suspenders to glasses ratio. The doc has great bedside banner and his breath doesn't smell so that's a plus! I mean...when your faces are that close it kinda matters. Amiright? Mostly eclectic and some standard designs made by name brands you don't recognize. I had the pleasure of being one of the first customers at King and Rose and it was a wonderful experience! First off, I was really relieved to find that they have a large parking garage on site, so parking was a breeze! The store itself is beautiful, with many lovely touches. They have a wonderful selection of frames, with a lot of unique styles and materials that you can't find other places. The staff was extremely knowledgable and was able to help me find a pair that I really love and that fit my face really well. I have a petite, narrow face, so it can be tough to find fun adult options that fit, so I really appreciated their selection. I wasn't there for sunglasses, but they have a lot of really cool frames for sunglasses as well! I was impressed with the latest technology they had to measure my pupillary distance; I had never seen such an instrument before. When my glasses came in, they fit perfectly--no pinching or headaches--and I am so thrilled with them. They gave me my glasses with a few thoughtful extras in a gift bag--such a nice little touch that really made the experience special. For efficiency, I'm just going to copy and paste a text message I sent to my bff: I went back into the eye doctor's office, got my eyes all checked out with some really amazing imagining machine, the doctor says that Roland is very experienced and will help me. He's already set out a tray of glasses. I asked him if these were the ones most appropriate for my prescription. He said, no, that these were the most appropriate for my face shape. I asked him about a pair that he hadn't selected and he said, "Of course, if you wanted to make a...statement." It's a gorgeous, upscale-feeling boutique, without the crazy price tags or snobbery of other high-end places. Roland, the manager, was there when I needed him but also let me browse on my own like I said I prefer to do. The frames are all very chic and unique-but-super-wearable, with a ton of great options for such a seemingly small space. I ended up falling in love with a pair of Krewe glasses but leaving without purchasing them, and when I messaged the boutique that night to express my regret, they promptly responded that they would be happy to hold them for me to pick up today. I have no idea what to look for in a pair of glasses, but Roland spent a lot of time walking through the available frames and was very straightforward with me in finding ones that fit my face well. I really appreciated the expertise and honesty in that regard. In addition, Roland bent over backwards in helping me with my insurance after I had encountered some problems. We ultimately got it resolved, and I was thankful for his help and patience. My experience was more than top notch! I went for an eye exam and hadn't been in a few years since I've always had 20/20 vision. More recently, blue light has affected my eyes. Dr. Provost was so warm and welcoming - he was very thorough and informative in our appointment. He explained the process and even uncovered I had an astigmatism. Bonus: Roland is fantastic with knowledge and helping you pick out glasses - they have an amazing brand of optical glasses (Krewe) that I'm obsessed with for sunglasses! So, while having an astigmatism isn't my favorite, having cute and trendy glasses made it way more fun of an experience! Of course, the words: "eye glasses" and "optometrist" automatically invoke a mental image of "LensCrafters" or "Visionworks" or any other generic 1-hour glasses place. Drew and Bryan explained that King & Rose carried artisan frames which made me draw a big, huge blank. I had no idea what "artisan frames" meant, but after visiting, seeing the selection, trying on eyewear, and speaking with the staff I'm very pleased my glasses and Rx sunglasses. I've worn contacts for years, but my eyes need a break periodically due allergies. Taking a break from contacts is pretty hard without glasses, so with money in my FSA and a free afternoon I stopped into King & Rose. Bryan was working and I let him know I have not picked out glasses in an extremely long-time (7 years or so). I was nervous to pick out something I would later find uncomfortable or avoid wearing because of a vibrant color. He seemed to pick up on how overwhelmed I felt and started asking me about my preferences. From when I usually wear my glasses, what my old glasses look like, what I like about my sunglasses, and what colors I prefer, Bryan took the time to understand my wants and needs (even when I was not able to articulate them). First, Bryan had me try on a few pairs for size. He quickly knew which size frames to suggest. Then came the shape and color of the frames. Each different pair Bryan handed me to try on was accompanied with why the particular frame would work for me. He would check over the fit of the frame on my face and make sure I felt comfortable in each pair. As we moved through the store and on to different brands to try on Bryan had amazing facts about every brand they carry. He let me know which brands donated proceeds to clean up corporate pollution in the U.S., the advantage of materials the brand uses, and more. Bryan also pointed out what made each brand unique like hand-crafted glasses using vintage materials. The entire experience felt like a shopping experience with a very educated friend and my initial nerves completely dissipated. Finally, we had it narrowed down to two pairs. I like the way each of them looked, but one of pair was very comfortable to wear. I had chosen a pair of Ahlem eyeglasses which are each hand-crafted in France with number etched in to the temple to indicate that frame's number of the total frames produced (just like a print number on artwork). They looked great and just felt right! Since I'm sensitive to bright light and religiously wear sunglasses, I asked about prescription sunglasses to couple with my new specs. Bryan went straight to the Ahlem's sunglasses and I fell in love with the first paid I tried on! Any other sunglasses after that were just tried on for fun. After a few measurements and using my FSA funds to cover most of the cost, Bryan said he would put in the order and should have them in between 7 to 10 business days, but the last pairs he ordered arrived in a 5 business days. I've had my new glasses and Rx sunglasses for a few months and I am in love with them! I continually get complements on them and I highly recommend King & Rose to everyone! I saw Dr. Provost and let me tell you... HE LISTENS. I've seen countless eye doctors in my life. They all try to push something. Some sort of solution, eye drops or contacts that by the time you walk out I spent hundreds. Well not Dr. Provost, he wants to do what is right for you and listens. He doesn't push anything. The glasses they carry are expensive BUT they are very unique, the highest quality I've personally ever seen and Roland is a professional at fitting them. I told him I hate wearing glasses because they hurt my ears. He showed me exactly why I was uncomfortable​. I haven't received my glasses quite yet but I'm very excited. Highly recommended! I purchased 2 pairs of glasses (regular and sunnies) from King & Rose and could not be happier. I've primarily worn contact lenses for decades, in part because my vision was always sharper than it was with glasses, but that changed pretty quickly once I got my new lenses. I have a moderately strong prescription, and everything looks crisp and perfect--no warping or blurriness at the edges. I walked into the shop fairly clueless, and Bryan was awesome. He listened to what I was looking for and provided tons of helpful suggestions and frames to try. This place is AWESOME! Have you ever been watching TV or flipping through a magazine and wondered where do stars find such awesome eyewear? There's no way those unique and cool designs can be found in chain stores, right? I asked that question myself, as I always thought of optical stores as being somewhat all the same, with generic designs and not much personality. Well King and Rose is exactly the opposite of that! First impression when you walk into the store: it's beautiful. The decor is warm and rich, and very inviting. Secondly, this isn't the type of place where you're faced with walls after walls of what seems to be all the same pair of glasses. Right when you walk in, you see frames in all of shapes and material, and wonderful colors. Their selection is incredibly unique and so very well curated, and styles all the way from classic to extravagant. I was welcomed warmly by Bryan on my first visit, who is all smiles and very knowledgeable. You can tell he is a passionate. He took the time to introduce me to the different designers they carry and explain the quality of the craftsmanship of all their frames. They even have several designer lines that are exclusive to them and are not available anywhere else in all of Texas! I have been back a few times since my first visit (my boyfriend fell in love with a collection of frames made of recycled vinyls), and have been treated incredibly well each time. Dr. Provost, the owner, is courteous, professional and very attentive. Alex is friendly and welcoming, and has the eye to find exactly the right frames for you. This boutique store had a wide range of styles, from traditional to the latest cutting edge glasses. Some glasses appeared to be ahead of the trend, if that's your thing. If you are looking for a fresh style, this is a good place. Traditional is more my style, but the person helping me suggested some glasses that would be better for the shape of my face. I am thrilled that I took her advice, because I never would have picked these hip glasses on my own. All of the glasses I tried were very solid feeling.
