One of my absolute favorite things about Ashland is the amount of good coffee places that inhabit the town. Forget Starbucks, and go for that amazing, fresh, home-brewed coffee. Case was our first stop on this Ashland trip. It's walking distance to the hotel, and the place is very reasonably priced; for a coffee and a chai I paid seven dollars. I ordered a cup of the Columbian blend - it was between that and another basic coffee - and I was not disappointed. It was up on the counter before I was even done paying. The coffee was delicious. The Columbian roast has a much smoother flavor than most black coffees. The place is small but comfortable. Even with multiple groups talking, the shop stayed pleasantly quiet. Case is just one of many coffee shops in Ashland, but it's definitely worth a look. read more

Wow! What a find in Ashland! I was here in Ashland on a recent road trip, and for those who follow me or know anything about me, I love a good cup of coffee. I will go to great lengths to get a good cup of coffee, just ask my wife and kids. Vacation doesn't start until daddy gets his Joe in the AM. Unfortunately on this day, I already had a terrible cup of Americano at the beginning of my drive home from Portland. Stopping in Ashland for breakfast was our first stop, and I'm so glad that we did. We were actually waiting to get into a popular local breakfast spot and I decided to head over to Case about a quarter mile away. Walking in59 this unassuming space is a very trendy farmhouse/industrial look. Very clean, and they had a coffee roaster in there as well. It would be an awesome place to study for those at the close by community college. But first off, the coffee. I ordered a seasonal horchata latte breve style and it was amazing. My wife isn't a huge coffee person, but she was this morning. She drank a lot of my latte and so I offered to buy another one for her after breakfast. But the espresso beans that they used were really good mixed with the half and half and horchata flavoring. Temperature was perfect, and it was smooth. I was so impressed with my latte that I also purchased a pound of beans. Hopefully I can replicate what they made in terms of a simple latte, but I definitely will make Ashland a routine stop on my road trips to Portland. Ashland is also a very GF friendly town, so all the more reason to stop by for another cup of coffee and whatever else they have. Can't wait to come back! read more

If you are near the Southern Oregon University, Ashland the coffee roasting smell will lead you to this place. We had cappuccino "for here" and the coffee was served in little cups along with a seltzer. The flavor of the coffee was wonderful with a nice bouquet (you get the meaning when you taste it) and different from what you would get at the major coffee chains. I was reluctant to let go of the taste of coffee but decided to give the seltzer a taste test. My, this was so good and refreshing that I went to the cashier and asked what brand it was. She said the seltzer is house made and showed the seltzer dispenser on the counter. If you are a coffee lover you'll be a repeat visitor here. It will not disappoint you. read more

Service is nice, and the place has the vibe. But the main thing is the coffee, and it's just not a style that I like. For some reason it just has a sour, dirty taste to me. It's similar to what I get with Stumptown, and for me, that's not a good thing. I know that taste is a personal thing. I prefer my coffee dark, earthy, oily...like Sumatra or other Indonesian . I've been to Case maybe 4 times now and I just can barely drink the coffee. Croissants were on the small side, at a not so inexpensive price. Every morning I walk from my hotel to this lovely coffee shop. They take every safety precaution you can imagine but they still keep such a smiling face. Today I went over there because they have the most delicious croissants and they were sold out. Coffee is great and has been for years and all the regular baristas are great too sadly we probably wouldn't be stopping in the next few month or as long as we are in a pandemic since they allow customers in not wearing masks and do not tell them to put them on and even chastised other customers who ask them to put them on. One infected person doesn't just infect the people around them, if the counter person gets it from that one unmasked guy then he can give it to everyone who goes to that shop and considering up to 60% of people may be asymptomatic this is a public health risk which is why there is a state wide regulation for masks now. A really good cup of coffee served by good baristas isn't worth 135000 dead Americans. Sad that the worker here valued his life and customers so little. read more

The best cup of black coffee in Ashland!!! As a fan of rich, bold, aromatic coffee I have found my "daily cup". Their house blend "Epiphany" is just delicious. During the winter months seating is a little hard to come by (I usually take my precious cup to go) as students fill the small seating area with quickly. On warmer days that isn't an issue because they have garden seating on the side of their building. The owners of Case roast their own beans in Ashland and have taken their coffee preparation to an artisan level. The time and effort they make comes out in every cup. read more

Ah I love this place! Case is a cozy little place with a very welcoming staff. I couldn't decide what I wanted the other day, and the employee on cashier helped me out. They recommend the iced Horchata coffee (not sure if it was a latte/cold brew/etc.) and it was amazing!! Went to both Case coffee houses numerous times during our week at the Shakespeare Festival, and by the end of the week we couldn't stop thinking about this place! How could you possibly go wrong with having access to great coffee, down-to-earth Baristas and a cozy, hip environment to get stuff done? You can't. That's why you CAN'T go wrong with Case. I grew up in coffee shops. I've worked in many. And I gotta tell you, this place is like the Cheers of Ashland Coffeehouses. You're not a nameless face. Everyone give a, well... you know. What do you need to say about a legacy establishment like this? Family owned, best coffee in the Valley, great people. That's what I'll say. And, while the coffee might not appear inexpensive, it's because you are paying for what you get, and what you get doesn't get any better. Staff here are amazing, and while it's got a "hip" vibe, it's also welcoming and warm. The staff clearly care about you having the best coffee experience you've ever had, and they make it worth it: you will learn about the coffee, and they will provide you options on how you can sample multiple offerings to get the full experience. Very relaxed vibe overall, much a college scene for pulling up a book/laptop, cuppa, and getting into it for a few hours. OR, you can come with a friend or two, and just chill out and talk. I've been here two or three times over the years, and never been let down. Do it. If you like the very best in coffee (ala Stumptown, etc.) then this is your kind of place. They made the best hot Mocha I've ever had! The flavor was so rich and smooth. It tasted like a blend of dark coffee, dark chocolate, and regular coco... but whatever the ingredient was, I really want the recipe! It was worth every dime. Another thing I loved was that the temperature of my mocha was perfect. It wasn't burning hot. I was able to drink it immediately without burning my mouth.
