Really cool cave. Never even realized there was so much history to it. Brandon, our guide, did a great job of teaching while being entertaining. Will definitely recommend to others. read more

One of the best tours I've been on. Stingray was our tour guide. He was AWESOME!! THIS IS A MUST SEE ATTRACTION!!! My family loved this tour. This was not only fun but educational, we learned a lot and it was fun doing it. I will definitely be back !!! Thumbs up STING RAY!!! read more

Awesome cave experience! We saw bats, frogs, tadpoles, and salamanders. Best part was our tour guide Mr. James. We had great timing and ended up with a private tour. Mr. James was so patient with our tiny humans (5 and 3), answered every question and told engaging stories. read more

A wonderful cavern tour led by "Dragon Slayer" aka Marry. The caverns are beautiful. The tour guide was fun and knowledgeable, and it was great to see both the Tri-Colored bat and Cascade Salamander. For those who like caverns this is a must see. read more

Excellent tour and experience for our first time visiting the caverns. I highly recommend Lynnrae or "Stingray" as a guide. He did an excellent job pointing out the incredible details of the caverns while adding subtle comedic humor to the tour. Will definitely visit again next time we are in town! read more

Great tour kind of off the beaten path and out tour guide dragon slayer was good and informative

The caves were so cool (literally)! Emily was an amazing tour guide. She used great terminology that both kids and adults understood. Had the patience of a saint with all the kids and some adults talking!! read more

We had a great time with Emily as our guide. This cavern offered us an up close and personal view that we have not experienced at other caverns. read more

We visited on an afternoon in July 2021. The tour guide was knowledgeable and personable. While there are definitely a lot of stairs descending to the lowest point in the cave (and back up again), the pace was very tolerable. There's also a short stretch inside where you have to stoop/crouch for twenty feet or so, but that wasn't bad either. The reward is getting to see a very active cave, complete with a close look at a tiny bat on the cave ceiling in a state of torpor and some blind cave salamanders. Not nearly as grand a cave as Carlsbad, but still an interesting tour - and it doesn't hurt that the temperature is about 30 degrees cooler than the Texas summer! read more

The response to my comment was a lie. I simply said thanks doesn't look like anyone will be coming by soon and left. Also would like to mention the kid at the register wAs too busy to look away from what he was doing. He brochure Does Not state anything on it. After leaving here went to Natural Bridge Caverns had a great experience here and much nicer staff, and better kept grounds! read more

What a hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country. it has been so hot in San Antonio I'll admit I was enticed by the 64 degree cavern. I am amazed at the natural beauty and interesting history of this place. i took the one hour tour with a very knowledgeable and sweet Emily and had a blast and learned some interesting stuff. I highly recommend Cascade Caverns! read more

This cave is smaller and not as spectacular compared to the Natural Bridge cave near Austin, but it is still fun and interesting. The tour was an hour and cost $14.95 for an adult, but they accept AAA discount. The tour takes you one direction then you turn around and go back the same way. We saw some bats and salamanders. Pretty amazing how a fern can grow near the light--where did the seed come from? Overall, great for kids and a nice way to spend some time when you are in or near Boerne. read more

Fun for the whole family! If you go, make it a point to ask for James to be your tour guide! Not only was he very knowledgeable about the cavern and its surrounding areas, but he was enthusiastic about it and made the tour that much more enjoyable! He was excellent with ALL the kids on the tour and addressed them personally to include them on the adventure, as well as the adults! He was happy, upbeat, funny and enthusiastic! My kids couldn't stop talking about the cavern and James on our 3 hr. drive back home! read more

I can't speak of the cave tour as my wife and I didn't go. My buddy went on that and said it was awesome. We were there to do some camping so I'll leave my review to that. The campsite was clean and well maintained. The bathroom and shower facility were also clean and well kept. Tons of wildlife! We saw several families of deer and a few rabbits. The kids loved it. It was quite at night and everyone that was camping there were friendly and courteous. Only two things that were a bit bothersome was the water pressure in the showers could have been a little stronger and the lack of fire pits where you hook up your camper was kind of a bummer. (I know there was a fire ban enforced at the time we stayed but we are coming back and it would be a nice touch for winter camping). Other than that this place is great! We will be coming back. read more

One of the owner's response to me is very untrue. Lance was not present and only spouting off what maybe he was told or to make his campground appear to be better than what it really is, just a little rustic campground with cave tours and has anger problems. We did not "slip" into a spot. We were told to go to any open spot and notify the office in the morning of our location. There was nothing marking the camping spot as occupied. It took us an hour or more to set up camp. The representative of Cascade Caverns that evening was NOT courteous banged on our door at 9:30 PM and said we must leave. Lance's answer to the "problem", we should have packed all of our things up in the middle of the night, in the dark and move. It would not take 5 minutes by far. His answer is still treat us like garbage to satisfy another camper. Did you catch is Motorhome comment vs. our Travel Trailer? I'm sensing some judgment on his part. This is exactly how we were treated, like second class citizens. We were being judged by the management and owners of Cascade Caverns. We were displaced by Hurricane Harvey and had to leave our beautiful home in Rockport. What kind of person with any customer service skills would say that, obviously he does not have any and tops it with untruths to try and justify his bad behavior and that of his team. Boerne look to see what kind of man he really is, stop giving him awards. My husband was forced to miss work because of their hassling and was in fear of what type of retaliation may happen if he left to go to work. They did not identify themselves and were acting very hostile. My goodness it is just a camping spot! My husband and the management spoke the next morning and the management apologized and said stay in your spot throughout our stay. We were willing to move the next morning in the day light. I thought all was good until I just read the nasty little note from the fabricator Lance! Lances "they went to fuel up" story is just that a story. My husband met the RVing gentlemen and seemed to hit it off later in our stay. They are in a similar industry. I was trying to be nice in my initial review to this little rustic campground but now I again see your true colors and will not recommend. I would not want someone to experience what we have experienced. UGH! We did hear several negative comments from campers about the owners. :( This could be a nice place but the owner is ruining it with his bad attitude. Look at the other negative comments and his rebuttals never does he apologize for the negative experience only insults the person leaving the comments. There is a common theme. Done. :) read more

Great Rv & Campsite and an even better attraction was the Caverns themselves. The bathrooms were good and use able. Didn't checkout the laundry. Some of the facilities are exaggerated like the soccer, volleyball and badminton court they are just patches of grass but I think it was more for a joke. There are a couple of walking trails attached to the site the longest is 3/4 of a mile. Cost $63.00 for 2 nights . The ticket for the caverns was $17.00 per person and although it was a neat tour, I thought this a little steep, plus no discount given for those staying on site. read more

Such a wonderful place. Beautiful creation of God. The staff is well informed. Very attentive to all customers needs.

Last Halloween two friends and I camped and went on a cave tour. We had a great time here. If you are not into crowds and like off the beaten path places, this place is for you. The tour was nice. It as just the tour guide and the 3 of us. We heard that the cave was haunted, so we brought a EMF reader on the tour. Our tour guide was awesome. He told us about the cave history, critters and formations. He even helped us with the ghost hunt. We didn't find any ghosts, but saw salamanders, bats, and pretty formations. The camp ground was nice. Oak trees shade most of the campground, and the bathrooms have showers and are clean. Only 2 other groups were in the tent camping area. We want to see more of the cave, so we going back soon for the adventure tour and more camping. read more

Cascade Caverns - The twin sisters - Tours Near Me - Boerne, Texas

Where should I start... I am indeed reviewing the cave by the name of "cascade caverns" when we arrived it all started out well the guy who sold us the tickets was pretty nice, didn't seem too crowded we were set for an awesome cave tour... Honestly I'm just reviewing my cave experience more than anything for somebody who has visited more than 20 caves world wide this was by far the worst experience... It was me and my spouse and two family's with small children...one with a new born (who brings a new born on a cave tour) the other adults AND children were grabbing/touching/fingering the caves wall I think I told them more than the tour guide who seems tired and just out of it to stop touching the walls of the cave! I wish I could have just turned around and walked out of the cave! Where is the respect! The screaming baby didn't help either!!! Other than the experience the cave was nice! Too bad it's all dead because of the greasy fingers of those nasty children! I can't wait to see what excuses the owner makes... Once again they blame the customer instead of seeing their own faults...this is a beautiful cave but good management is lacking... We were not rude during the cave tour at all...I of course asked questions geared towards what happens when the cave is touched or isn't it a felony to take rocks from a cave...( one of the kids was pocketing rocks) other than that we tried to enjoy the cave as much as we could...granted the tour guide was overwhelmed I don't blame him at all! But he should have turned the tour around Interestingly enough the owner won't take responsibility for their own bad management...if you go through yelp OR trip advisor and read all the negative reviews there is always an excuse to go along with the negative review...such amazing customer service! (Sarcasm) He was correct in continuing the tour and the death of the cave because of it... There is a low ducking part during the tour with little soda straws hanging from above...they didn't look out of reach when the kids were dragging their hands on the cave ceiling (I know for a fact he saw this...he mumbled "don't touch that" Also I find it hilarious that they keep changing the tour guides quote lol... The owner has edited his response 9+ times as have I to fend off his attacks... I absolutely recommend never going to this cave read more

I actually liked the cave quite a bit. I have enjoyed caves since I was a kid and read about the Cascade caverns about 45 years ago (I am 57). The cave is really cool and has allot of neat formations. Now I notice that the owner/manager attacks every negative review and posts some comment about how the customers who leave complaints are wrong. He should listen instead. Some of the reviews are over the top but he should get the message about the trend of "the staff is rude" that runs through them. The staff is perhaps not exceptionally rude but they are very disinterested and burned out and they do not treat customers very well. We were told, upon entering the establishment, to go sit down a minute so the two employees talking about going out the night before and one of their trucks, could finish. No "Hi, welcome to Cascade Caverns!". There is a young blond fellow who seems like he is terribly bored and really doesn't want to be there. They did take my wife, myself, and my daughter alone on the tour, so no problem there. I kind of wish it had been a bigger party because the whole tour lasted about 20 minutes... I edited this to enquire about the drought, really, not as a criticism. It is January and there are literally streams of water running down the cave floor. There is no drought; it is not summer and there is no drought in effect. My question is why aren't the Wedding Dress and Cascade flowing? I am really curious, there was plenty of water. Can you turn this off and on? Was there a seismic shift and they are no longer supplied with water? I would like to know. Near the end of the tour my daugher and I were looking at some of the formations, few of which had been explained due to the apathy of the guide. Well, it may be hard to believe but the guide actually left us behind and walked away talking to my wife. They even turned off the lights with me still in the cave. Don't believe me? I have a video. I can't share it here but it is quite amazing. I started taking it to remember the trip and be able to look at the formations later but it turned in to something all together different. I will be happy to post it on YouTube if anyone requests it. In fact, if the manager blasts me or denies it I will post it on YouTube and list it here. Videos don't lie and neither do I. I think a huge "red flag" as the manager likes to say, is that EVERY review that is negative has a comment by him attacking the review and the customer. He should either ignore it or apologize, not justify their actions. Watch out! To the manager. I hope you don't leave some comment bashing me and my family. Listen to the complaints and work on your staff. You have a beautiful cave but the staff really detracts from it. You shouldn't have a bunch of negative reviews and ignore them or try to justify your company. It looks bad. The staff IS bad and with just a little work you could have all very positive reviews here. read more

Staff is VERY RUDE. It's a shame to only give one star, because the cavern itself is interesting, but I cannot forgive the way a staff member hollered at my child. Why did he holler? Because my kid had sat down in the seat of his lawn mower that was parked next to the office. Seriously?! It's a lawn mower and it's turned off. And once my kid got off, he continued to yell at my kid, saying that he needed to get "far away from it, that's right, keep moving, get away from it." WOW. The owner of that place should fire the 2 staff members that were operating the office and hire some polite people. read more

We've been to other caves in the area and think this was a better one. We arrived a little after 9am. The first tour didn't start until 10am, so we walked on some nearby wooded trails. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 on this tour. Our tour guide (Carrie?) was very good. She explained a lot of the history of the cave before and during the tour. Some of the formations might not be as exciting as other caves, but Carrie's presentation made up for that. I think what I liked about this cave is the fact is not set up for special events and such like other caves. This is a natural cave. Don't get me wrong, it's not too difficult to traverse the cave. Yes, there are steps you need to take to get down into the cave and of course, those same steps take you back up. The cave just seems more natural with evidence of a fault line and such. At the end of the tour, Carrie pointed out some harmless bats. They were close enough to touch (don't do it!). I highly recommend you call them (especially after a rain storm) to make sure they're open. The cave isn't "civilized" like other caves and can have issues with mother nature. read more

The cave is not that great, not even the 2nd best in the area. Natural Bridge Caverns is better and also Cave without a Name. Check both these 2 out before choosing this one. I just felt like the people running didn't have a clue what they were doing, which is really sad. Another thing I noticed was the poor condition of the facility's on the property. This is definitely a place to avoid. Im sure the manager will deny this with some excuse as I see him doing to other honest reviews. read more

Went on field trip for work. Great place, the kids loved it! Fun spot BUT not if you are freaked about closed in places. i.e. ME!

Cool cave you get to actually be super close to all the formations. You get a little wet from the stalactites and midway through you have the option to touch the touching stone it's cool and smooth but probably dirty from all the hands lol. Some formations have some interesting shapes it's neat, the have little bats In the cave that just hang out and there are fossils in there. They have an option to go spelunking. The walk into the cave is about 200 stairs in and then 200 back up and there are tons of plant species due to all the flooding and plants just washing in. It's not very handicapped friendly but I'm not complaining because as far as walking I don't have a problem. The gift shop is cool they have souvenirs and snacks and a campground. I like how at his cave you're closer to the guide and the formations that a lot of other caves so you get more of the experience. Just watch or for copper heads they can be slithering around occasionally and don't bump your head, it's hilarious when other people do read more

Wow...that's all I can say about this place! I've been to Thailand's beautiful beaches and explored the majestic mountains of Colorado. I have a deep love for nature and let me tell you that this wonder holds a special place in my heart. I've lived in Boerne since 06 and every time I have a friend coming through town I take them to see this with me. It never gets old cause it's constantly growing...I mean unless you touch it. Don't touch it. I seriously considered inflicting pain on someone when I saw them touch it during one of my visits. Some of my fellow (more educated) explorers know this already but many caves in the hill country are limestone solution caves and the oils in our skin can stop this cave fro growing with a single touch...I mean look at that mess of a cave, natural bridge. Totally dead. Sorry got side tracked but somebody needs to stand up for the cave ( as most tour guides I've had have done). This place is gorgeous and my words can't do it justice, especially since it's grown so fast. I don't yelp very often but seeing some of these reviews on here harshing on this and that upset me deeply. Going in this cave is a privilege and not a right so behave accordingly, people. Whoops, there I go again. I'm almost as bad as these one star reviews. Except I appreciate and understand what it takes to give people a chance to see this cave system (it's state protected and all). Ya know, this big hole in the ground that's older than we as people are and maybe ever will get to be. This big piece of history that maybe we should all just calm down and revere this place in all it's majesty. read more

I was traveling through San Antonio and saw a brochure for this cave at my hotel (the brochure really stood out because it said "oldest Texas show cave attraction" and had lots of orange on it!) Anyway, I drove a few miles out of San Antonio to get some Rudy's BBQ in Leon Springs and went on to Cascade Caverns. The cave was very non-commercial and the tour was very intimate. There was a story about a cave hermit and a Patrick Swayze movie filmed at the cave, too. Water was flowing everywhere and I saw a salamander for the first time in my life! They look like lizards but I found out they are actually frog-like amphibians. I felt like I was in Costa Rica or some other nature preserve. They had bats, too! read more

My husband and I visited Cascade Caverns recently with our two boys, ages 10 and 11. We loved it! I was a little worried by the humbleness of the surroundings as we approached the office -- it's basically an RV park and a small building or two in back, which left me wondering what I'd gotten us into. We bought tickets and had about 30 minutes to kill before the tour started, so one of the staff members recommended we take a hike around a 3/4-mile trail (loop) a little southwest of the ticket building to pass the time. We did, and it was lovely! The cave itself was awesome, and so was our knowledgeable tour guide "Sy" (she was eccentric, but lovably so). Everyone in the family was engaged in the tour -- it probably helped that we were the only ones on that particular tour -- and Sy held the boys' attention the whole time. Two thumbs up, and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have a couple hours to spend. read more

This place was awful. We arrived around 11:45 on Sunday with a party of 12, though not everyone in our party had arrived at that point. The exceptionally rude employees told us pricing for the tour and we told them the last 4 adults in our group were just minutes away. When the rest of our party arrived at 12:03, the tour guide had already left (home for nap presumably) as there was NO ONE ELSE at the caves except for our party, and the rude owners said it was impossible to take the noon tour even though our party agreed to cut our tour short to make sure that they would be ready for the (presumably also empty) 1:00 pm tour. This place definitely doesn't get frequented very often, and I know why, the customer service there is the worst of any establishment I've ever been. This cavern is known as pretty shitty compared to the other 7 accessible to the public in Texas, and now we know why (we went there only bc some in our party had already frequented the other caves.) Don't come here, these people clearly hate their lives, their jobs, and couldn't be more rude. Try the other caves. We ended up at Cave Without A Name about 15-20 minutes from this one and had an awesome time. read more

I don't normally write reviews, however it seemed appropriate in this instance to make sure nobody else has to experience the very rude people in this place. (Also in response to owners reply to review by Laura H, which as incorrect info) As part of a group of 12, 8 of the 12 had arrived at the location at 11:45, while the last 4 were driving in as quickly as they could. We asked several times if there was anyone else that was there for the 12:00 tour and nobody else was on there except for the staff and our group. We let them know that the last 4 would be a few minutes behind, and since nobody else would be delayed to accommodate us, would it be possible to cut our tour short a few minutes to make sure they got to their next tour on time. The answer was and emphatic NO, and not a nice we can't do it no. It was a rude, get out of my way, and how dare you ask us to start 3-5 minutes late. (Because I am so sure that they always start the your immediately on time every time) It was bad customer service all the way around!!! Especially considering we were the only people there. We left with our entire group, to another cavern (per the owners response on Laura H review some of us stayed behind and went on the tour, not accurate information) Could we have waited for the 1:00 tour? Yes, we could have, one lady who was referred to as "mom" even told us, "let me see if I can just go over their clocks back a few minutes" realizing they were being unreasonable and plain out giving us the cold shoulder. We left just as a matter of principal, it was an additional drive to go elsewhere and we would likely be waiting for a tour at another location anyhow, but that is no way to treat customers. read more

PLEASE before you drive ALL the way out here check out his negative reviews on here and how HE tries to blame everyone else for HIS behavior. Too many unhappy people for the public's reviews to be so wrong. There are nicer caverns in the area to take a chance on HIS rude behavior. I would give this place a 0 if that was an option based on my review. This is a review from a far of our sort of visit to Cascade Caverns. We never got the chance to tour the Caverns and here is why. We arrived Tuesday April 15th at 11:50 AM. There was a sign on the door that said next tour 1 PM. We were a bit disappointed to have to wait that long for the next tour. At 12:15 a guy returned with a tour of 3 people. I walked in and asked when the tour started and quite rudely I might add he said 1 PM. So a few minutes later he left in his truck for what was probably his lunch. We decided to hang around and did the Nature Trail. We got back right at 1 PM and no one was there. So at 1:05 PM he pulls up in his truck and goes inside. We were the only people there. So we gather our items and start to head in stopping to look at the displays inside. When I walked up to the counter and said we were there for the tour he rudely says it is 1:10 and the next tour is not till 2 PM. I just about blew up at the SOB!!! We stormed out. We saved 54.00 dollars by not going. Wasted a whole lot of our time there and thought if he was that rude and LAZY we were glad we saved our money. I guess good help is hard to come by these days. STAY AWAY!!!! I guess there is a reason we were about the only ones there. read more

This is a straightforward, bare bones, no frills, earthquake-exposed cave/cavern. It's entertaining to carry flashlights since many of their lights aren't connected...although at the same time, it's a bit odd to have to carry flashlights since many of their lights aren't connected. (Why have very visible lights and wiring if they're not going to be used?) The small size and low ceilings in many areas means you get a great closeup look at some features found mostly at a distance in most caverns (and is the main reason I give this 3 stars instead of 2); to me, most fascinating example of this were the dripping soda-straw stalactites in 'fields' (for lack of a better word) on some of the ceilings -immediately- above me, glowing in my flashlight's beam. The staff is friendly and laid back, welcoming, and patient and patient with the wide variety of guests' personalities. At $15 it's a little pricey for what you'll see, and the ongoing drought has dried up the 'cascades' for now, but I enjoyed seeing it once. The 3rd-Saturday tour to the caverns' lower level would probably be fascinating, and from the description includes spelunking and swimming in an underground lake. read more

We used this campground as our base of operations while we were visiting the Fredericksburg & San Antonio area, and it was great for that purpose! It's off the beaten path, which means it was very quiet. Bathrooms were clean, the full hookups worked just fine, and the staff was very friendly & helpful. The new owner was living on-site, and was also very helpful. We did not do the cave tour, but others we talked to seemed to enjoy it. If we return to the area in the future, we would definitely stay here again -- it's much less expensive than the campgrounds closer to town! (We stayed here in May, 2013 in a 38' motorhome.) read more
