Our third rental was an unregistered vehicle that had not been inspected in three years and had endless issues that plagued our entire vacation and added days of driving around the desert in 100+ temps WITHOUT AC to find parts and/or a mechanic. Our first two rentals (2001 and 2017) had zero issues, so the lack of customer service wasn't evident until we had dangerous problems on our 2024 trip... and then they left us on our own, with a piece of garbage RV falling apart around us in the sweltering summer heat... three women, a 4 year old child, and a very hot dog . Literally, the manager (David) left for the day without calling us back, knowing our predicament, after being repeatedly asked to call us back over several hours. Thanks, David In addition to the AC not working, no cruise control, and the truck engine overheating, plus the rental car and hotels during the worst of the mechanical problems, we also discovered that the microwave didn't work, so ALL the food we had prepped in advance to "heat and eat" was a waste of time and money. I briefly considered burning the RV in the desertand flying home, but I look awful in orange. This is not a real threat, just a very real example of how frustrating the entire ordeal was. We eventually fixed the issues (over and over) and ADV offered ONE day free, but we had to rearrange our whole trip at the height of travel season to accommodate the issues with our existing reservations, so we wound up needing additional fee extra days to get home, but the 4th of July closure made it so we couldn't return it until SATURDAY. Guess who had to pay for those days we didn't need? We did. We were supposed to be home on the 29th, finally got home on the 3rd, and had to pay in advance through the 5th because of their mechanical problems. When we brought it back, we received ZERO APOLOGY for our hardship and were NOT allowed to speak to the manager we repeatedly asked for... who was standing right out front and totally ignored us when we drove up in that rolling safety hazard, and again ignored our request to speak to him, brought by a customer service rep. When we walked up to him outside he was rude and blamed his sales reps for not dealing with the situation. Eew, David. Our family trip to see multiple national parks was turned into a nightmare from day one thanks to this irresponsible business. We will NEVER use them again. Photos of the BROKEN ladder we had to climb daily to fix the AC, because the AC motor mount would come unscrewed every time you used it and sounded like rocks tumbling in a dryer. We originally paid $5,234.20 for two weeks and had to pay $1,061.70 for the extension, for a total of $6,295.90 plus another $865.29 in hotels, rental car and über to try to resolve all the problems. That doesn't count plumbing parts, tools we had to buy, or extra gas driving to different cities looking for a mechanic. Ten days after we returned the RV, the ONLY response has been a $347.69 refund, which comes nowhere near to covering the extra hotel and rental expenses we incurred and submitted for reimbursement, let alone the extra days we had to reserve. No phone call, mail or email to apologize for anything or communicate any resolution. We will now be seeking legal counsel due to the major safety issues we were left to deal with on our "vacation" in one of their unregistered rental units. On a recent trip to Fred, we decided to branch out and visit Bending Branch Winery in Comfort, TX.,…read moreas it's only about a 45-minute ride from downtown Fred. Bending Branch produces some top-notch wines and Bourbon! The winery is beautiful with multiple rooms, from high tops to comfy chairs. There is also a large patio that has some shade. They have a great family story (check out their website) and a unique way to produce bold wines. Being Kentucky natives, their bourbons are full-bodied and range from great for an old-fashioned to smooth as silk, straight up delicious. We enjoyed our red flight tasting, and yes, their Tannat is superb. Both their 2022 and 2021 Estate were complex, not overly fruity and rich. Their Tempranillo is beautifully balanced with some cherry notes and a fine leathery finish. I did sample their high-rye bourbon and was impressed with its smoothness. So impressed that a bottle now sits in my bourbon cabinet at home. This bourbon is easily sipped straight up or with a single ice cube. Bonus: If you do visit Bending Branch, take a short drive to downtown Comfort. There are some cool stores, and you have to check out the historic Giles Hotel. You can access their beautiful courtyard, and we were told by multiple folks that their breakfast is awesome. We are planning a return trip to check out the other wineries in the area and stay here.

We took our dogs to the bark park to play and everyone was good about picking up their dog's doody. There are doody trash cans and bags throughout the resort. I also used the laundry room and it was very well kept. They have four washers and four dryers. I was able to get quarters in the office. The washers are $2.50 per load, as well as the dryers. The dryers run for 45 min. They also have a store in case you run out of ice, etc. The resort is just off the highway, close to parks, and grocery stores. We will definitely return!!

We drove across a small bridge in the resort into the Adults Only section & I swear I heard the birds chirping a happy little song welcoming us...lol We looked into the water & my bf said "I wonder if I can fish?! (He could & he did!) We had an end lot in the center. It was a perfect spot w a nice, sturdy metal table & 4 chairs. The area was quiet & peaceful. At night all we could see were stars...and more stars. This is the place to be for stargazing. At the time we still had our 24 ft RV & it fit perfectly. On the outside of the circle in the Adults only area there are huge spaces for larger RV's & motor homes. During our stay we walked up to the office to buy a few things & the prices were actually reasonable compared to other RV resorts we have stayed at. We loved the Adults Only pool & hot tub. We wish more resorts actually thought about the fact that there are a lot of Adults that want to relax at the pool without kids yelling, screaming & splashing them. Some of us are trying to get away for a wknd & relax. At other resorts there are kids running wild everywhere with little to no supervision. If you book here, especially in the Adults Only area, you will actually be able to enjoy a tranquil getaway. You will hear the wind blowing, not kids screaming. Don't worry though, if you're traveling w the Brady bunch you can book one of the many lovely spots in the other section of the resort. There's a pool for everyone that is also very large & nice. There you can enjoy the sounds of your children screaming & splashing with new friends! Speaking of friends, we met some of the most wonderful people on our last trip to Buckhorn Lake. At some RV resorts I have heard /read reviews complaining that long term tenants are unfriendly. Well, we found just the opposite. We met numerous people who stay at Buckhorn for months at a time and they were all so welcoming! One evening we ended up in the front "yard" of an amazing couples spot for hours. They were friends w a bunch of other regulars at the resort also. Our absolute favorite person at this resort has to be Chris! He came into the pool area our first night when we were in the hot tub. He was just making sure everything was turned off (lights) & locked up. There's a code to get into the very clean & nice restrooms. We ended up talking quite awhile. He told us all about the fun events that happen at Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This isn't JUST an RV park. It is truly a resort with plenty to do OR not do. Your choice. My bf had fun fishing in the early morning. (Catch & release) There is a fitness center & game room. They have tennis courts! There is also a really cool outdoor bar area near a big red barn for Happy Hours & Potlucks. They have an awesome theater room where they will soon be having a Super Bowl party. Every wknd they plan activities for their guests. There's no pressure to join but everyone is welcome! Chris takes care of the grounds & even stops by everyone's RV in the mornings to get your trash for you. He has the best personality. He made us want to come back bc he made us feel so welcome. I wish everyone had the kind of positive attitude that he has & loved their job as much as he does. He may never know this but he was a huge reason why our 1st visit to Buckhorn was such an excellent experience. If you ever see this, THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRIS! If you want to enjoy the Hill Country in the Kerrville area there can't possibly be another place that could come close to being as great as Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This is just my opinion though. The fact that we booked 3 more visits in advance the day we checked out is proof enough! This place books up... Apparently we are not the only people that know how great this place is. We visited Buckhorn the first time in September 2022. I decided to wait & visit more RV resorts before posting my review. I can tell you without a doubt that this resort is excellent. In comparison to others in the Hill Country it has more activities & more amenities. It is definitely more beautiful! We have stayed at other great places but there is something special about Buckhorn Lake. Go & find out for yourself! Our next booking is coming up & we can't wait! 10/10 -- A Hidden Gem in the Texas Hill Country!…read more We absolutely loved our stay at Outdoorsy! We booked completely last minute--the day before--and stayed in Suite 16. This place truly feels like a hidden gem, and the entire experience was such a vibe. Check-in was a breeze, and the staff was amazing from beginning to end. The ladies helped us with our luggage via golf cart and were available from 9am - 7pm to shuttle us back and forth to our cars. All we had to do was text the front desk for a ride. Everyone was incredibly sweet, helpful, and full of great local recommendations. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed their jobs, which made the experience even better. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and really thoughtfully designed. Having a fridge and microwave was such a nice touch, along with robes in the room and all the little amenities that made it feel more like a boutique stay than traditional "glamping." Our site also had its own fire pit, which really completed the Hill Country vibe. One of our favorite surprises was having a deer feeder right outside our door! We were able to watch deer come right up near our site, which was such a peaceful and memorable part of the experience. Between the deer, longhorns, fire pit, and incredible stars at night, you really felt immersed in the Hill Country. Suite 16 is closer to the main road, so you can clearly hear some highway noise. They thoughtfully provide a white-noise machine, which made it an easy fix. If you're sensitive to road noise, I'd recommend requesting a site farther from the main road. The guest room did get pretty warm around 4 p.m. because the windows face the afternoon sun. Some window tinting or an exterior shade would probably help, but when we mentioned it, the staff immediately offered to bring us an additional large A/C unit. They even offered us a complimentary cocktail for the inconvenience, which was such a nice gesture! Overall, the suite stayed comfortable, and they did an excellent job designing the space with multiple floor vents to keep air flowing throughout. The property gets VERY dark at night! There could possibly be a little more pathway lighting between the tents, but honestly, the low light pollution is also part of the magic--the stars were absolutely incredible. If you're directionally challenged, worried about critters at night, or just don't want to walk in the dark, renting a golf cart for $150 for your stay might be worth it. Feeding the longhorns was another highlight--feed buckets were only $5. The check-in area also had s'mores supplies, firewood, beer, snacks, and drinks, all at surprisingly reasonable prices. It's a great little convenience when you realize you forgot something or want to enjoy s'mores around your fire pit. We also loved the game room! There's a pool table, ping pong, basketball, a massive TV, and plenty of room to hang out. It was especially nice having a cool place to escape the Texas heat and relax for a while. The only thing missing is a pool on property but it sounds like that will be the next addition. Some yurts do have pools but it will definitely be a welcoming addition with the Texas heat! Overall, 10/10 and highly recommend! The few minor inconveniences were handled quickly and graciously by the staff. From watching deer outside our door and feeding the longhorns to sitting around the fire pit and seeing a sky full of stars, the whole property had such a fun, relaxing Hill Country vibe. We're so glad we found this hidden gem and would absolutely stay again!

The drinks options were plentiful and delicious. We loved all amenities . We grilled and smoked food and enjoyed the activity center. I do wish all tents had the cowboy pools or at least a community one. I wish there front desk hours stayed open a little later also. This place is perfect for a Fredericksburg visit with close wineries and shops nearby still! Tents offered perfect privacy from others but not much sound privacy. Perfect. For families , couples and groups. A lot was already provided or offered by the property!
