TL;DR: Bought bike, was claimed to be inspected, took bike for ride later that day, right handle brake snapped loose and not functional after 6 miles. As someone who's never owned her own bike before (borrowed a variety of hybrid/road bikes), I was recommended to get the Liv Alight 3 bike by a coworker at work to start. After reading all the great reviews, I had my heart set on the light blue Liv Alight 3, and after months of waiting, Cascade Bikes finally had a size small in stock! I picked up the bike on Sunday, June 6, 2021 and was told that the bike mechanic would assemble the bike for me and double check the gears and ensure that it was set up properly. I arrived at about 3:30pm and saw them checking gears and became very excited. I did a short bike test from the store to the parking lot, it seemed okay, and I brought the bike home in anticipation of a longer bike ride that evening. Fast forward that day: I went on a biking trail anticipated to be about 8 miles with a couple of friends, and initially, I felt that when switching gears something felt off compared to previous bikes I have ridden, but figured that since it was just "inspected" at the shop there was nothing wrong. At about mile 6, we were going downhill and as I was starting to brake, something was amiss- the right handle brake snapped and I was not slowing down! Slightly panicked, I stumbled and landed on my left side and fortunately was okay and the bike was okay. I ended up slowly biking back home for the next couple miles using the left handle brake. Now, I understand the meaning of wear and tear, parts come loose, etc; but less than 12 hours picking up the bike that was supposedly tested? Personally, I feel that is not okay and overlooked. I am deeply disappointed and now skeptical of the proclaimed craftsmanship at Cascade Bikes. read more

I purchased a Specialized bike several years ago from Cascade when they were by Target in Tigard. Quick setup, I was out the door in 30 minutes after they checked it out. I brought it in for a year or more later when the shifts were skipping and they got right on it... for no charge! It wasn't the "full" tune up that they charge for but it was what I needed to keep riding. Fast forward to last year and a reflector fell off the back rack so I went in to buy a replacement. The service counter went in the back, found one and gave it to me free. Again, I was expecting to pay so I was very happy. I just went onto the new location on Cedar Hills Blvd but got there 5 minutes after 6 and I could see the guy locking the door. He let me in, helped find the lock I needed and I was set to ride Saturday. I have received helpful, fast and thorough service from every employee I've encountered and recommend them without reservation! read more

I have a Giant bike that I have not ridden in 6 years and was going to give it to my son. Giant recommended Cascade as a authorized dealer and so off I go. Dropped it off on a Sunday for a total service including new tubes. Was told that it would be a week turn-around. That worked for me. They called me Thursday morning to tell me that it was ready. That was a super fast turn-around. I rode it in the parking lot, it felt a lot more balanced. Brakes and gears were smooth. It feels like a brand new bike. They even cleaned it. Excellent service by everyone at Cascade Bikes. I accidentally incorrectly unscrewed the hydraulics front brakes of my mtn bike and basically ruined it by leaking the fluid. Oops. Bad youtube video will do that to you. Thank god to Cascade bikes they were able to save it and just needed a brake bleed and pads replacement and I'm off biking again yay!!! Back when this store was located on Hall Blvd. near the Washington Square Target, my bicycle was due for a tune-up. One of the things they like to do is replace the cassette (rear gear system). I have an '03 Giant Cypress LX with 24 gears (3x8). They recommended changing it, so I approved. Upon returning for the pick-up I took a short test ride. I came back and reported that it felt different and that I didn't have a top end anymore. One employee assured me this was "impossible". I asked him if the tooth count was different between the old and new cassettes. He claimed no, but in the same breath indicated that the original cassette was no longer available. Say again? You read that correctly. He then retorts: "I don't like the direction this is going." as he physically started backing away. So I offered him an olive branch asking if we could both be correct, to which he instantly retorted with an emphatic "NO". Recognizing that I had just been called a liar, I responded as such (with a little too much zeal I must admit) and quickly exited with my bicycle while the manager in charge yelled after me "he didn't call you a liar." This is probably not the best tactic for winning life-long clients that support your business. There were things I really liked about this bicycle shop, but I am not interested in patronizing Cascade Bikes again after this incident. I have since found a shop not far away that delivers the service I expect. To Cascade Bikes: I hope you have used this event as a learning opportunity and updated your employee training accordingly. read more

I brought my new bike in to get information about the presta valve on the tires, which I have never worked with before, and to buy an adapter, a portable air pump, and get info about installing fenders, a kick stand, and a pannier rack for commuting. I left empty-handed, though. It took several minutes for anyone to come help me, the shop's dog greeted me before the staff did. The young-ish guy who finally come over to help me was terse and unhelpful, and seemed completely disinterested in talking to me at all. For example, I said that I needed help figuring out how to use the unfamiliar valve on my new bike, and his response was "yeah any pump will work" and then just stood there. I had to go back and forth with his for several minutes to even learn the name of the valve. At one point he said they sell adapters, and I asked to see one, he heaved a huge sigh and got a tiny valve out of a jar, I asked how to use it, and he said "you just put it on". So I had to go back and forth with his AGAIN to figure what to "just put it on" and how to actually use it. He also told me that my bike was just not the type of bike that was designed to have anything installed on it, and refused to discuss the hardware I was interested in or to explain why he held that opinion, when there are mounts for hardware literally all over this bike. I left without buying anything, and will never be coming back. It was a bad enough experience that I will also make sure to never recommend anyone else there either. read more

I realize we are in a pandemic so I did give this place some grace when they were behind; however I brought my daughters bike into to be fixed in the beginning of July they said it would be done within a couple of weeks. Fast forward to mid August I had to reach out because I had heard nothing. They said the wrong part was sent to to them and they were waiting for another part; however they did not call and let me know anything. September came and went and nothing, then October came around and again I had to call them. At some point in time they found out they couldn't get the part and failed to notify me. I held off buying a new bike thinking they were going to be able to fix the bike. Communication would have helped this problem. So instead of buying a bike from them because of poor customer service I bought from someplace else. read more

I had the worst experience with service here. I had a mechanic tell me that it's normal for a rear derailleur to jump gears when the bike is rolled back, then told that it cannot be fixed due to low quality bike parks. I paid 2600 for the bike last year which was purchased at this location. Never have I ever been made to feel so stupid. I was going to look at some new bikes here but I will never go back! We searched for 3 bikes everywhere. My youngest needed a good qualify bike, the big box stores were sold out and frankly, we haven't had good luck with their bikes. Keith helped us immediately upon walking in. He helped us find our sizes quickly. They cut my seat support to get it to be lower for me - free of charge. They have an indoor area to try out your bike or you can ride it in the huge parking lot. We left in less than an hour with 3 beautiful bikes. read more

"Most people don't want it...." My wife and I had been shopping for electric bikes and finally found the brand and style we wanted - Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0. Mine was available at Cascade Bikes in Beaverton, but my wife could only find her style (step-through) in Bend. My bike was ready first, so we stopped at Cascade to pick it up. The salesman was not unpleasant, but was certainly not enthusiastic. He offered no spontaneous explanation as to the bike's features or functions or even demonstrated how to remove the battery if needed. In addition, the accessory case for the bike contained only the key to unlock the battery, the charger cables and a single glossy page of instruction. My wife asked if there was any additional instruction manual and we were told "that's all there is." Considering that this was our first electric bike, and they are not cheap ($4350), I was somewhat disappointed by the presentation. Having no other experience to compare to, however, we left a bit disappointed and not necessarily unhappy, just not happy happy, if that makes sense. That was until the next day when we drove to Bend to get her bike. At Bend Electric Bikes, they brought out her bike with a smile, demonstrated all the features, and to my surprise, her bike had a carrying case with the warranty, two instruction manuals, the key and charger, and they had written down all the serial numbers on the box for our convenience. Furthermore, her bike had a bell and reflectors, whereas mine did not. It was a genuine pleasure to get her bike and left me feeling flat. When I called Cascade Bikes to inquire about the missing items, I was told first that there WAS an instruction manual, but it was "just a general instruction manual" for all Specialized bikes. When I informed them that, no, my wife's case also contained a specific (and roughly 50 page) manual for the Vado/Como, they changed the story to, "Well, most people don't want it." When I inquired about the bell (not a big deal, but it does come with the bike), they said they don't put them on because "the kids ring the bells all day." They did offer to try to find an instruction manual for me and they would give me a bell if I wanted one, but of course, that meant making a trip back to the store. Also, while a bike bell is not expensive, it does cost $5, and by not at least giving it to me when I bought the bike, they are in effect, pocketing the money. I have had no other experience with this store, and from the other reviews I suspect they do a good job selling and servicing bikes. However, my sales experience was poor. To their credit, they did listen to my concerns but even in the end were still making excuses such as "most manuals are online now anyway." When you have a choice as to where to spend your money, customer service does count. In conclusion, I didn't ride the bike at all (0 miles and carried padded in the back of our SUV) and returned it the following day. To their credit, they accepted it without argument and refunded my money. I then bought the same model again at Bend Electric Bikes and had the same wonderful sales experience my wife had and the entire complement of manuals, bell and reflectors that come with the purchase in the first place. read more

I'm not walking back in here again. I have never come out of this store with positive vibes - even after I bought 2 bikes from Cascade over the last few years. The staff is dismissive and rude. They treat you like an idiot and are annoyed by questions if you aren't a bike genius. After several bad experiences and crappy attitudes, I had written these guys off. But it's been over a year since I went in and so I thought I'd give them one more try. I had questions about problems with my drop post for my Kona that bought there a few years back. After waiting 10 minutes at the service desk where people kept saying, "we'll be with you in a minute" but otherwise ignoring me, one guys finally came over and said "Whatcha need?" Not, sorry for the wait, not how can I help you - just whatcha need. I explained my issue with my dropper and he said "bring the bike in." Easier said than done. And the questions I was asking are questions he should be able to answer without challenge and without needing to see my bike. I asked him about buying a replacement and he said he couldn't without seeing the bike. Diameter size he claims. Well, I bought the bike from Cascade so I asked if he could look it up. Nope - they changed systems a couple of years ago and didn't bring over old customer data. I told him the exact make and model of my bike and asked if he could look it up. Nope, too many options out there by that company and I would have to bring in the bike. He had absolutely NO interest in helping me out. A quick google search with the info I gave him was able to provide me with the seat post diameter of my bike. Not too many options out there - they only made my model bike with one diameter seat post. His lazy a%$ just didn't want to take the time to help. His attitude was clear - I wasn't cool enough for his shop. I ordered the part I needed from somewhere else. Cascade has seen the last dollar from me they ever will. Trek gets my money from now on! And as I was walking out, a family with a kid who had been waiting for a while kindly asked one of the guys there if they could ask a question about one of the bikes on the floor. The guy just rudely said, we'll help you when somebody is free. Douches. Go to Trek! Trek cares about their customers and are incredibly friendly and, even when busy, make sure you feel comfortable there. read more

I've brought my bikes in for tune ups and they have told me that I just needed a quick brake adjustment and not to waste my money on a full tune up. They've helped me get my bikes setup on tubeless. We are so disappointed we this shop. My husband went the first time to buy a helmet and we were both pretty pleased with the service. Quality was good and so was service. So he went back a second to order tires. This time he had to wait 2 weeks for the tires to come. When they finally came his back tire lasted one hour and when complained to the store they told him it was his fault. He had to pay twice the price for one back wheel. I went to this shop to look at road bikes. It is located in a suburban strip mall next to a Target. I like that the shop has easy parking in case you need to drop off a bike. The shop is very large and even has an indoor test riding area to try out bikes; that part of the shop alone is bigger than most other shops I have visited. They have a very nice selection of Giant road bikes. But the real specialty of this shop is the high-end mountain bikes. They carry da Vinci mountain bikes and Transition. They also have a BMX bike section. The mechanics are very friendly and knowledgeable and attractive! I very much enjoyed interacting with a handsome young mechanic named Mitch. The only thing I think they need to do is add more comfortable seating and a hang out area for customers to sit while waiting for their bikes to be fixed. read more

Very misleading - and wouldn't bring it back. When I brought the bike in I was told the total cost would be $85 for the standard tune up. When I came back to pick it up - it was $151 and no excuse for the added costs. Never was there a discussion or approval for extra work or parts. The bike is great - work done was solid. But the total lack of communication and transparency is why I'd go elsewhere. Honesty matters - costs matter - and this place missed that by a mile. Just didn't feel right at all - and leaves a very bad impression. read more

I bought my son a folding, mountain ebike for Christmas (online). When it arrived, I took it to Cascade Bikes to be assembled. These folks are just plain awesome. Unlike another bike shop in Beaverton whom I'd also called initially when looking for someone to assemble the bike, I didn't get a side comment about "oh, don't buy it online!". Whatever. Cascade Bikes personnel are knowledgeable, articulate, super nice and helpful professionals (I can't stand someone going on and on when it's clear they're BS-ing), and the entire experience was great. I searched all over the Newberg Oregon area for a bike shop today and the closest one I found was cascade bikes in Tigard. When I went there they were pretty quick to acknowledge me and take my bike out and to fix the handlebars which had come loose and I asked them about handle grips and they told me oh they're over there that's what we have, we don't have any Alabar mirrors, which is what I asked about. I felt a little bit like I was being brushed off and I could've spent about a lot of money in there, how they had the inventory. Granted it's at the end of Covid I get it but still. Now I will probably go to Tommy's in McMinnville see what they have next. I was not impressed with the treatment or their inventory!!! read more
