Three of us went to the restaurant for dinner. The service was great, but the food has a lack of desire. Everything was tasteless no seasoning the worst Mexican food I've ever tasted. I could have went to Taco Bell and had better flavor. The tortilla chips was overcooked and damn near burned. And I walked through the place mind you it's only Caucasians were in there I did not see one Spanish person except the workers So what does that tell you? I'm guessing if I want real Mexican flavor, I will have to go some of the restaurants on East Colfax or you see other Mexicans eat, and the food has flavor to it. read more

Fairly empty this evening. The place was clean and TVs were blaring sports events. But....What is going on with the food? It's like Covid all over. Prices up. They are skimpy with their sauces and those are essentially flavorless. The meats are good and the tortillas are great but tonight my soft chili relleño itself was delicious but the sauce wasn't good. My beans were yummy but the rice was blah. Our hot wings were very good but $18 for ten wings is pricey. Our talkative and gregarious server Leo has been working there since forever but he sometimes drops the ball and our food sits in the kitchen warming shelf for 5-10 minutes before he brings it around. Great spot for big parties but the food is lacking. I came here for a coworkers farewell party. I tried one of their mixed plates with enchilada, chili rellenos, and a taco. We had a great time at Casa Vallarta! It's been years since we've come to Casa Vallarta and I'm glad that we tried it again! Our quality was absolutely huge! We had dinner for two days with the portions that's we were given. The food was also very good! I had the chicken with rice and it was very good. I was also offered tortillas with my meal which was a great choice. Our service was great. While we chose inside to sit there is a huge patio that you can sit at if you'd like. The only downside of my experience was that the margaritas tasted somewhat from a premix but they were still good. Great experience overall! read more

This was the second time I came here. My first time wasn't horrible, but it wasn't memorable - but one thing I do remember is the curt service - as if I was a hassle. But it wasn't egregious, so I shrugged it off. However, I returned on Friday at about 3:30pm. I had been in traffic for the past hour, and was starving, and just wanted a really nice meal and a margarita. I sat down at the bar, and received the same curt greeting that I had received the first time. Different bartender. I asked for a margarita, and he just walked away, and 30 seconds later put a drink in front of me. Pre-made margarita obviously. But it hit the spot. I looked over the menu - someone reviewed this place and said the prices were not over the top. I would say they are over the top. Almost everything was $20, including their burritos. OK, I'll be paying some money, so I went with their carne asada salad. If it's good, I don't mind spending $21 on a salad. The description said, "With our special House dressing". So when I went to order, I asked the bartender what the house dressing was? He looked at me like no one had ever asked him to describe their food before, so I pointed at the description and said, "' It says special house dressing' - what is the dressing?" He says, and I swear to God I am quoting him: "I don't know. They make it in the kitchen." Ummmm, what? Ok, I decided he wasn't going to affect my calm demeanor. I had been driving an hour in traffic - not gonna be upset by this obvious BS of an answer. I ordered this $21 salad. This is where I start really getting upset. Out it comes, (please see the pics) - and I could smell the steak before it got in front of me. It was burnt on the outside, and I could tell it had been sitting around. Are you Fing kidding me? The "special dressing" was non-descript, so I put a cucumber in it (the mildest thing I could find), and discovered why it was non-descript. It tasted like they took canned chopped tomatoes and cottage cheese and blended it together. I asked for another dressing, and told him it had no flavor. He said nothing and walked away. At this point, a manager had come out in a yellow shirt and was HEEEY HOOOO-ing to all the regulars. I was ignored. But the bartender DID have the manager bring me the new dressing, and he put it down in front of me while half way walking away. No one asked me how anything was. It was as if I did not exist. My bill came - I had 2 HH margaritas and this crap on a plate, that was burnt with iceberg lettuce (iceberg?? on a $21 salad?? - how do you come up with your ridiculous prices??) and some dressing they threw together 3 minutes before putting it before me. My bill was $42. Just for me. $42 for an over-priced burnt sad excuse for a salad. I am convinced they cater to their regulars, don't give a crap about a newcomer, and they gave me crap that had been sitting there and they didn't want to waste food. I have never, and I do mean NEVER not tipped - but I wrote in the tip line: See my Yelp review. Thanks for letting me know I am not welcome here." So, here is my Yelp review, Casa de Vallarta. I live close by, and you could have had a regular. Thought I should broaden my horizons on the Mexican food front, and stopped at Casa Vallarta. This place has a lot to offer! Their restaurant is large and airy with a tequila bar attached. They also have a nice covered patio to sit at. Their staff greet you with a warm smile and offer excellent suggestions. I had their #21, carne asada. It came straight off the grill, with the marbled fat cooked perfectly into the meat, making it warm and juicy. Their beans and rice were very tasty. I also have a thing for tamales, and have to try an a la carte everywhere I go. This tamal was perfect. Great beef to masa ratio and the flavor delectable. My husband had the #22 El Patron, which has the above carne asada plus bacon wrapped shrimp. He loved the sauce on the shrimp and thought the meat was very flavorful. Last but not least, I ordered their skinny marg and it was well made. No artificial flavor at all! To end the meal we were treated, for free, a sopapilla! This was the most excellent surprise for this girl. I can never turn down a sweet treat! I'm glad we decided to finally stop and try a place we have driven by often. We have been going to this place for over 30 years. This time my daughter ordered the Taco salad, which was double the price and half the size. Ok, the economy is not great, but the big black hair that arrived with the dish did not have to be added. The gentleman who brought chips and salsa, then our drinks, forgot my daughter's, so I had to give her mine. When our food came out, I was able to get my drink, but it was the last I saw of a waitress until the check came. It was $48 dollars for two people: one Taco salad and drink, one dish that was approximately $16.00 and a drink somehow came out to $48.00. The receipt was not itemized, so who knows what cost what. While visiting Denver, I came here with some friends for lunch and drinks. The sangria was probably the highlight! The chips and guacamole were very tasty, but the queso was a bit thick and cold. I ordered the chimichanga, which can be subjective from place to place, so I'm flexible. Not the best, not the worst. Overall, though, the food is delicious. The one food item that really stuck out the most was the taquitos. I don't recommend the rice and beans. Unfortunately, this should be pretty easy for a Mexican joint, but they were flavorless and the beans were undercooked. The ambience is nice, and outdoor seating was really lovely. Bathrooms were super clean. Overall, I really liked the place and would come back. Maybe just try something else other than rice and beans! read more

This place is a good staple in the neighborhood. I have had amazing meals and meh meals but overall not usually disappointed. We tend to sit at the bar and the service is good there. The service in the dining area has been hit or miss mostly depends on how busy they are. The place can get packed. You can usually tell if there are any parking spots nearby. My favorite item to get is the chicken fajitas. They usually load them up with yummy bell peppers and onions. I also love their chips and salsa. They have a regular red salsa but then they also have something somewhat similar to pico de gallo but it has cabbage and other stuff in it. I have never seen anything like that served anywhere else. During Broncos games they usually has a build your own taco bar and delicious chicken wings. They are based on how many drinks you buy, but typically a good deal to grab some free food to go with your margaritas. read more

After a kids' ball game in Aurora tonight, we were looking for a new Mexican fix. I recalled a co-worker who lives in A Town telling me she likes Casa Vallarta, so off we went. For maybe the first time in my life, the hostess didn't look at the only two people standing there and ask, "How many?" Instead, she grabbed two menus and asked us where we'd like to sit. We sat on the covered patio and enjoyed a cool evening breeze. Noise from nearby Parker Road was hardly noticeable. This was a pleasant surprise. Our drink server was prompt, and soon, we had a massive margarita to flank some iced tea and waters. They do not skimp here on size or strength, as there was plenty o' tequila for a decent buzz. I had the Enchiladas Mexicana. One each of cheese (the best), chicken, and picadillo were slathered in spicy red sauce and accompanied by refritos and rice. That it doesn't come standard with a watery lettuce/tomato garnish (ugh) was huge. About half the time, I ask for no l/t, but have to scrape it off when the food arrives. That's a bummer. This was a sizable portion. The beans boast a nice mouthfeel. My rice was a bit dry, but when I tried my companion's, it was moist and delicious. Her picadillo tacos were hefty, tasty, and arrived with beans as well. At meal's end, our server, Martha--who'd been sweet, friendly, and attentive--brought us two mini-sopapillas with whipped cream and fruit. On. The House. We thanked her as heartily as we could before digging in to this unexpected treat. Any pecadillos? Yes. Prices are steep but not quite outrageous for Denver suburbia. We eclipsed $50 with tip for the items listed here and an iced tea. My meal did not come with tortillas, either. After stints in South Texas and Northern New Mexico, I just cannot grasp why many Front Range Mexican joints neither supply or even offer tortillas or sopas to accompany a meal. Pico de gallo was ok, but the house salsa was so runny that it preferred my shirt to staying on the chips. Overall, we had great service, a stiff margarita, and serviceable, but pricey food. 3.75 stars. read more
