    Chicken enchilada

One of the rare spots in the area that can accommodate large groups! We had a party of 9 and had a great experience. They have onsite parking (no valet required when we went), and service was amazing, they're super nice and checked up on us a lot. Complimentary chips and salsa - 10/10. Salsa was a little spicy to some but the perfect kick for me Guacamole - 20/10 their guac is so fresh, it was my favorite dish of the night Ceviche - 9/10 it was a generous portion and also really good and fresh! Chicken enchilada - 8/10 I think I got too full off the appetizers but the enchilada was also good! I loved the green sauce it came with and it had a lot of chicken. So much that I took the rest home Michelada - 10/10 a classic

Came here to celebrate my birthday. I sat on the patio so it was a little quieter as they have live mariachi in the main room. I enjoyed the ambiance and the music was a good volume. I ordered the steak fajitas and it was very good. It wasn't the best thing I've ever had in my life, but it was certainly above average. Service was prompt and great. I'd come back, they handle large parties well. I had their mezcal margarita and it tasted great.

It's difficult to find a place where to spend New Year's Eve... you want a safe and cozy ambiance where you can take your family and enjoy the event. We spend it at Casa Sánchez and we had the most pleasant experience. First service is amazing at a venue with the elegance of a beautifull Mexican Hacienda, then in a date like this, Raul Sánchez fix a delicious Mexican menu with at least 10 gourmet plates going from the common Fajitas to elaborate ones like a delicious short leg of pork or delicious Mole Poblano or even a juicy filet Mignon!!! Every served in generous portions... and with a big square feet, chose of delicious desserts... if he repeats these event in February 14 or September15 Mexico's Independence Day or 5 de Mayo... but in regular days you can also enjoy excellent Mexican gourmet... see you there for February 14 all the with Mariachi music and as yesterday night, a wonderful music band!!!

Had a FANTASTIC dining experience at Casa Sanchez. Rogelio was our server and gave fantastic suggestions and we had some nice conversation as he was serving us through the night. Very attentive and kind. Thanks Rogelio! Beyond the service, the food was fantastic. Highly recommend starting with the fish ceviche. Nice chunks of fish and a very healthy portion to share. The tobiko adds an unexpected and nice light crunchy texture. The shrimp enchilada was the favorite of the table. Absolutely demolished that plate and mopped up the sauce with more tortilla because the sauce was that good. All four of us really enjoyed the spot. Will be back for those dreamy shrimp enchiladas!

TL;DR: Expensive, but if you have a celebration, this is the place to be! I read Yelp reviews before my visit, and definitely see both sides. I was invited to a birthday dinner, and to be honest, I considered declining the invitation because I knew it would be a pay your own way evening, and face it, your basic Combo plate here ($36) costs twice as much as a regular Mexican restaurant. That said, this is NOT a regular Mexican restaurant. This is the place you come to for a special event! The Mariachi singers are FANTASTIC and really do a good show. It's fun and these singing men are very talented. The show lasts about an hour or so. They celebrate all the birthdays and special occasions from the stage as the servers deliver a celebratory treat. The servers are extremely attentive! From the moment I was seated until the end of the evening. My soda ($6.50 OUCH!) was refilled several times before I could ask. Now... to discuss the food, because this is a restaurant. Upon arrival, the table was lined with chips and a delicious salsa with a mild kick. The guac is a fair portion for $11. It was hard for me to restrain myself from double dipping! Calamari ($20) was ordered for the table, and admitting to never having tried it before, it was divine! Especially with a tap of lemon! Trying to manage my budget with my tastes, I ordered the Taquito appetizer ($18) and an a la carte Taco Durado ($10! Not on the menu. YIKES!) I felt that the kitchen/server could have been a little more detail oriented, as I requested no tomatoes on the taco and the taquitos came covered in tomato, I requested no cabbage on the taquitos, but they put cabbage in the taco. Other than this, both items were tasty. Including some pictures from dinners around the table, because they looked yummy, even though I did not get to taste. If you are the person with a special occasion, be prepared to blow out the candle on a flan - likely before you've gotten to ordering dessert. It's cool, because when it comes to dessert, there's a gorgeous tray that arrives of treats to choose from. Most "regular" Mexican restaurants offer up flan, and maybe cheesecake. Here, the options are so much better! Tres Leche, Carrot Cake, Tiramisu, Pistachio Cake, Chocolate Cake and, of course, flan. It all looks drool worthy. I ordered the Tiramisu, and got to try the flan. The Italian treat was light and airy, rivaling that of a phenomenal Italian restaurant. The flan was dense, like cheesecake. It had a nice caramel flavor. Keeping in alignment with the rest of the menu, the cost was higher than your average dessert at a regular restaurant - $12! However, the portions were a bit more generous. Our table with 6 dinners, 3 desserts, and mostly non-alcoholic beverages racked up a tab of $380 after tax (hey! it's the tax that kills it all!) ... hopefully this review helps you to create an enjoyable experience to fit your own budget.

Elegance, entertainment and culture. Took my wife here in a date night and this place did not disappoint. Service was excellent with a valet for $5 to greet you in the parking lot. Walking in feels very elegant just in the lobby and once you walk into the dining area, it feels classy with the vintage paintings, dark wood tables and an atmosphere that exudes high class entertainment. The elephant in the room is unmistakably right at the front of the restaurant. The stage for the mariachi band feels like a main character in of itsellf sparking a tinge of excitement of what's to come. And when they came out they performed for just over an hour. Entranced by song, notes and words, time becomes irrelevant as you are focused on the showmanship of each member. The food was also delicious. The cocktails were also intoxicating. Both complimented the powerful melody of music. Would come again.

    Substitute Vegetales instead of rice/beans.

The ambiance was simply amazing! Loved all the pictures of old school singers, Pedro Infante, Maria Felix, and Javier Solis etc. The service was excellent very attentive and friendly. The food portion was perfect and delicious! The live mariachi music was incredible! Highly recommend!

    Chile en Nogada

The venue is beautiful and so elegant. The Chile en Nogada was good, but there was too many nuts inside (pine nuts, almonds) and pomegranate seeds, so every bite had a weird crunch. At first it felt like I was biting bones of the meat but then I realized there was just a lot of nuts and seed inside the chile. It was a weird texture that I didn't enjoy. But the cashew sauce on top was delicious. The waiter was kind of rude, I don't remember his name but he was a tall older man. I was asking about the ingredients in the side salad and he seemed so annoyed by my questions. I just wanted to know what kind of dressing it had, and that's the servers job to describe the ingredients!!!! What if I was allergic to an ingredient? I have to know what's inside my food! I think he just wanted "easy" customers that didn't ask any questions. The mariachi was amazing but the show was too short, they arrived late at 6:45 and it ended at 7:30. Only a 45 minute show. Valet parking is a ripoff. Every restaurant should provide free parking. We are already spending $400 or more on the bill!! Dishes are overpriced, $35 to $40 each. The steak was good but too much fat on it. The lamb chops are good, but the portion is small.

No Notes! Casa Sanchez is consistently such a great experience. The staff is always so nice and accommodating, and the atmosphere feels welcoming every time. Their chips are homemade and perfectly crisp, and the salsa is so fresh and flavorful it's impossible not to ask for seconds. I'm always impressed with how positive and attentive the staff is, and the food never misses, every dish feels made with care. Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area.

Hi. I'm celebrating my mom's 60th Birthday and wondered if requests are allowed during any mariachi shows?

I am confused about the showtimes and the main room mariachi times? Is the reservation for dining/main room, or how does it work? I just made a reservation for 8:15, so I just wanted some clarification. Thank you!

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. Oh man. This was SO FREAKING GOOD. I have had good Mexican food, but never in my life have I had…read morebetter vegetarian tacos. Never. And I live in Portland, which has really good vegetarian options. First of all, I could eat like 75% or more of the menu as a pescatarian. I was thrilled and so overwhelmed because I normally don't have that many choices! First of all, the water was infused and was delicious. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. I think there was mango or something in the coleslaw of the fish taco because it had a really nice fresh flavor to it. Last, I had the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco. If I hadn't discovered it on my last night in LA, I might've come back on my short trip. The whole place is just a vibe and the food was beyond excellent.

The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

AMAZING. So efficient, very clean, love being able to see them prep food at the bar area…read more Pulpo a la brasas - low key a must, octopus is so tender. Didn't care much for the rice/beans but not bad. Comes with blue corn tortillas, but honestly the octopus and almond sauce (think b*tchin' sauce) were delicious. Great cherry tomato pico de gallo. Scallop aguachile - wowwww the scallops were so fresh, literally bursting is my mouth. They were sweet, tender, and perfectly paired with the tangy lime sauce. Taco de pulpo - ok so this is pretty much an assembled pulpo à la brasas, BUT I will say the full meal was more tender because it was an entire grilled piece of grilled vs one tentacle. If with a group, def recommend getting the entree to split vs individual tacos. Smoked kanoachi tostado - delicioussssss the smoked kanoachi (amberjack) was the perfect glue for the ceviche. Another banger. I was at capacity at this point, but the only change I'd make is swapping the taco de pulpo for the ahi tostado. So really, Holbox did everything right, and was so good it's gaslighting me into how I could have ordered more strategically. I arrived around 3:45pm on a Sunday, and the line wrapped around the corner. Bar seats are FCFS, so use that information wisely...and you may get seated immediately :P

There is a private lot but fills up, and there's also adjacent street parking. I love sitting at the bar and seeing the plate being prepared. Also love the open freezers so you can see the fresh seafood hanging. Another standout was the homemade hot sauces! Each had a distinct flavor from sweet, smokey, and hot so it was really fun to try. The ceviches and the raw cold dishes were my favorite, especially the scallop aguachile! SO GOOD. Would order that 100 times.
