We really enjoyed this puerta cerrada experience! Dan & Henry were great hosts, welcome us and the rest of the dinner guests into their home with welcome drinks, followed by a great tasting menu, which rotates. Each dish was paired with Argentine wine. Paid the deposit (50%) online in advance to reserve a spot, then could pay the remainder by card, cash, or bank transfer at the dinner. We had a total of 3 groups of guests, and it was great conversation and a memorable night!

The perfect evening in Buenos Aries. Five course meal with wine paring (and welcome cocktail). This was our second visit (first almost 10 years ago) and everything was fabulous. Looking forward to returning.

Exceptional food and wine in a unique and intimate setting - a chef couple's home. A unique opportunity to meet new people - travellers and locals. Dan & Henry were such lovely hosts and designed the elaborate 5-course menu to accommodate dietary restrictions. We absolutely loved it and would recommend to anyone visiting Buenos Aires!

The beautiful table settings before we all sat to dine and chat.

This South American style of house restaurant is something that I've seen watching Bourdain a few times, but it wasn't anything that I thought I would attend in my life. It always sounded so high class and exclusive... well my intuition was wrong. My wife discovered this dining experience on a search of the internet and she set up the dining highlight our Buenos Aires trip. I couldn't be happier on the experience and the lovely people we met along the way.

    The 5th course!

It was such a lovely evening! I was recommend for Casa Salt Shaker by some friends and am so happy I was. The food was delicious and unique, the ambiance was awesome and truly felt like a home. I loved the group conversation and Dan was a great host.

Dan is super friendly, best food I had in BA! A great find for solo travelers. Bilingual; good for Spanish and English speakers.

Wow is right. The menu was amazing, the service was amazing. I would fault only two things. Dan really needs an espresso machine or a nespresso machine. He should also Invest in a sommelier to do his wine pairings. However that would just be me being a wine snob. The more French wine the better. All our pairings were from Menoza and there was not enough white wine.

Couldn't wait to try everything on this awesome menu

We were in Buenos Aires for a few days prior to our Antartica Trip and asked our concierge at the Sofitel Hotel where we could go for a true Buenas Aires Steak experience. Without any delay he said that we must try Las Lilas. A simple ride over and beautiful location at the site of their redone area along the riverside. Much like every other city is doing. Restaurants. apartments, shops and lots of young people enjoying themselves. We walked inside this beautiful Steakhouse and elected to sit outside where we could enjoy the beautiful view and atmosphere in lovely warm weather. Let me be frank.... Walking into a beautiful Michelin restaurant is pretty much the same around the world. You walk in with a smile and high expectations. Right here in the beginning I will say that the team and service was impeccable from the beginning. Flawless in my opinion. They came over in introduced themselves while bringing us some water, cheesy bread and taking our drink order Appetizers: Three styles of tomatoes. Selection of cheeses from their very complete collection. Main items: 16oz PIcahna steak (shared) Fried Potatoes (shared) Of course the wine was Malbec which paired so perfectly with all the amazing food. I am not going to go through each item other than saying everything was 'over the top' delicious. My friend said to me that once you've had Buenas Aires Beef you'll never forget the amazing flavor. Even through my wife likes her meat more on the well side, it retained the tenderness and unbelievable flavor. There is definitely a reason that a place like this become a Michelin Restaurant. Cabaña Las Lilas is flawless and judging from the look on the faces of the other diners around us.... They thought so too. Please see the pictures I added. Many people shared as the portions are very generous. KUDOS to the team at Cabaña Las Lilas

This was my first time here but my mom has dined here before when she visited. Our server was a nice gentleman and older. Most of the staff was older and I liked that because I don't see that often when I dine out. Complimentary bread was provided. I did a house red and the server gave me a generous pour; it was deliciously smooth. My mom ordered grilled chicken (it was a huge portion) and a side salad (also pretty large portion). I ordered beef and chicken empanadas. I preferred the beef over the chicken but both were really tasty. The pastry was nice a flaky and the filling inside moist and flavorful. We typed out what we wanted on a translator app and we got what we ordered. The complementary bread was very hard and I supposed that could be the style but it wasn't good. We had the olives as the appetizer, which were wonderful. The empanadas were good and the chimichurri that came with it was on point. We split one mixed meat skewer and the meat chunks were huge. More food than we could possible eat. Skip the empanadas and go with the olives and skewer and you'll be full.

The service is typical China in did you get the food as the chef prepares. The hot and sour soup is one of the best I've had in many years. It oozes of cilantro and there is so much tofu that one could be tempted to make a meal of it only. The greens beans were perfect. The right crunchiness and tenderness when bitten. The burst of Sichuan Pepper gave the bite back as required. I wish I had uncovered this place way before.

Until recently, it was apparently a small Peruvian restaurant, Angry Fish BA, which I'd never even heard of. I don't think I ever saw the place even open, though their Facebook page was active until last July - maybe it was only open at night. Somewhat extensive menu, and only about 2/3 of the menu is translated from Chinese into Spanish. Why? Because the other dishes are "really traditional" or "too spicy" for Argentines to appreciate. I think these guys will need to adjust that thinking. Why not offer it and see, it doesn't take that much effort to translate the dishes - something I made the waiter do right down the line. [Edit: Revisits over time - they've redone the menu to a multi-page one with pictures, and Spanish translations for almost all the dishes. Strangely, they still reserve one page with maybe 8-9 dishes on it that they don't translate and that are much more obscure dishes - a couple of them excellent!] Potstickers - Really well made lightly crisped dumplings. The filling, pork and chive, and a little underseasoned, though the hot sauce they brought on request was fiery and with a dash of soy sauce, was just perfect. Spicy Pork Belly - This was one of the non-translated dishes. I mean, these days, who doesn't dive into a pork belly dish? Beautifully flavored, sweat-inducing spicy with fresh chilies throughout the dish, and just absolutely delicious blend of slightly sweet pork belly, green onion, peppers, chilies, and Chinese celery. A very happy camper was I. [On those revisits - they have a couple of stunning, spicy chicken dishes - both a bang-on Szechuan peppercorn chicken, and in that untranslated section at the back, a fiery chicken hot pot. Prices have gone up a bit, but not significantly as of early 2018.] And, fairly reasonable - both dishes plus a bottle of water and tip came in at 375 pesos, or $24. The place is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, which is unusual for that neighborhood, but gives a great option for those who like "real" Chinese food.

While this place has been here since 1962, the first time I came was in 1993. I love it here because it is a classic, old-school restaurant, between the decor, the waiters and the grill as you walk in. The service has gone downhill a bit over the last couple of years, but I find that if you connect with your waiter when you finally get him to your table, he will check on you more often. They have a great wine list as well. The steaks are some of the best I have had, and I love that they bring your steak on a steel plate over a charcoal fire- do not let them take the grill- I love putting the fat on there to render away and then ladle it over my steak- so much better than butter! The fries are to die for, as is the Morcilla- so good and creamy- if you like that! I am usually too full for dessert, but I recently had their ice cream- so good and creamy!
