Had a wonderful lunch experience here on a Friday afternoon. The service was lovely and prompt! Chimichangas were incredible and you cannot beat these portions- pictured is the LUNCH special. Such a strange experience. I ordered Camarones Ranchero based on the description in the menu. Should've had a salad with it but it didn't get that and what I did get was grilled shrimp and plain rice with a gallon of queso on it. It tasted ok I guess, very bland- but that's not what I was expecting to get. My husband ordered a dish that included 3 different kinds of chimichangas. He got that but they weren't deep fried and there weren't very many beans. Also, there was another gallon of queso dumped on everything. Not sure what was going on. The service was good, the place was clean with nice decor and ambiance. We were both so confused by our food we were second guessing whether or not this was how it was supposed to be. If you know that type of real Mexican food I'm talking about, this may not be up your alley. But it is close for NY standards. Simple and traditional mom and pop Mexican restaurant. The menu is extremely overwhelming, but the prices are reasonable. For three large entrees, and drinks, we paid around $50. Very large portions. This is the second location for Casa Real, and in my opinion ~ the best one! When you first walk in they have a great bar with plenty of tv's to catch a game. The main dinning room has plenty of seats and tables, and a private banquet room in the back for larger events. The service is absolutely fantastic, and the food even better. We had beer served in ice cold mugs (Always a bonus), and the chips and salsa were as delicious as I remember from their other location. For dinner I had the fajitas, which is always my go-to at casa real, and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I went for the Fajita Jalisco ($15.99), which came with steak, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was large enough that I had a full lunch the next day with all the leftovers! Terrible food...this is not Mexican food or Latin food! Throwing some ground beef into a tortilla and pouring canned sauce over it does not make it Mexican food. And using supermarket taco shells for your tacos is shameful. Also using store bought chips terrible why are you not making fresh chips and fresh taco shells? The food was excellent, i had the super chimichangas which consisted of 3 different ones, shrimp, steak and chicken. The shrimp and chicken were the best. I'm only giving three stars because the service was pretty slow. We asked to have another minute to look at the menu and then she disappeared for over 15 minutes before returning. The margaritas were pretty basic and lacking any real flavor, tasted like straight out of a pre mix. This past Cinco de Mayo I went to order from the website for a 7:30 pick up. After getting through the entire process and trying to pay, I got a message saying I could not place an order for a later pick (even though the site had taken all this info.) So instead I called (this was about 4pm) and was told they couldn't take an order for late pick up. OK so I waited until 6:30 and placed the order online. When I got to the restaurant it was packed. I got in line with several others who were picking up. Only problem was they didn't have the orders. I showed them my approval on my phone and they went scurrying to find it. Meantime I noticed an email saying the order was canceled (even though they had charged my card.) so now I placed the order with the hostess and was told it would be done quickly. I suggested they give me a complimentary margarita for my trouble which everyone was drinking. They looked at me like I had two heads and continued at their very busy pace. Then they told me I couldn't wait at the bar and to go outside. After about 25 minutes I went back in and the order was ready, oh, and did I still want a margarita? Uh, no. When I get home not only was the meal underwhelming but one entree wasn't in the bag!! I called and the manager took my name and told to come another time for a replacement. I've since called a couple times to try to just get a credit to my card but there's never anyone with authority to do so. At this point I'm chalking it up to a sunk cost. I understand they were unprepared for the holiday onslaught and perhaps on another day I wouldn't have had such a bad experience. I hate giving bad reviews but I feel it is necessary here and I will not be shopping there again. read more

Our order consisted of two adult and one child entrées and it took over an hour to get our food from when we ordered. 2. There were very few servers for the number of people in the restaurant. We saw our server once and then she didn't come back for about 20 minutes. When I asked her if they forgot order she just said they are very busy and it was another 20 minutes. 3. The food was OK. They really need to improve on their Margarita drinks. They don't taste fresh. Basically poured out of a premade bottle I suppose. The mango margarita was pretty bad as well. This particular location in the strip mall has been the kiss of death. I truly hope this is not the case with Casa Real.
