I had a well proportioned fettuccini Alfredo that came with super soft bread(extra points for that) and a side salad. I added some pan fried chicken to top it off. Visited on Saturday Aug 8th I tried this new Italian spot based on recommended social media posts. I know it is a new place so there are going to be some learning curves and items to improve upon but I will acknowledge that the food is pretty good. I would like to mention the following: it is unusually warm in the restaurant, they need to buy a simple sign that directs the customer to either wait to be seated or to seat yourself and we ordered food that was inclusive of salads but we never received the salads. It would also be good if the waitress covers the specials (verbally highlights them). On to the good stuff.....the bread is quite delicious and served warm. The bruschetta is fresh and flavorful. We ordered the plate with lasagna and Alfredo...it had great flavor and was served in a nice hearty portion. I ordered the chicken Piccatta but received chicken parmagiana (honest error and was absolutely not a big deal) the chicken Parmigiana turned out to be a great plate and had fantastic flavor. I will get back to this restaurant in a week or two, I am confident that these small hiccups will be turned around and once they get in their groove it will flow smoothly. Food and service above average. Atmosphere is romantic with soft music. Only complaint is we have been there a number of times and although they claim a military discount, it is only applied to the person with ID ( the family serves as well ). San Antonio USED to have quite a few great Italian restaurants, but they've changed over the years or closed down. This is a reminder, to me, of how great they used to be. The lasagna, cannelloni, and manicotti are all amazing. I don't know what kind of magic's in the tomato sauce, but it might be the best I've ever had. We just got back from eating at Casa Pasta and have to say, the reviews that say the food didn't have flavor are TRUE. I was incredibly disappointed. My husband had the chicken fettuccine and I had the spaghetti and meatballs and they both had no flavor. The spaghetti sauce was watery. The only flavor on the chicken was the crust because they offered him the choice. The service was great though and that's why I gave 2 stars. I don't trust this is authentic Italian as we've been to Rome, Italy and this was NOT comparable by any means. Also, nowhere on the menu online does it say that they don't serve any wine or beer. You would have to take your own bottle of wine, which is fine, but I didn't see that on their website. Also, i rarely leave reviews on Yelp or Google, but wanted to warn others before spending their hard-earned cash on expecting a good Italian meal. Went in to try a local restaurant (1st time) visit. Wife ordered chicken siciliano w/side salad and I ordered a small build your own pizza (12") pepperoni. The service was good maybe a little slow (never asked to refill our drinks). The chicken siciliano plate was a hot mess (the spaghetti was mushy) but my wife said the chicken and artichokes had a good flavor. Wife doesn't really do pasta (carbs). The restaurant brings out some bread but no olive oil or Italian seasoning. There's an up-charge for that. The pizza looked good. The pepperoni was ok too. Pizza slices have a big flop so if you pick up a slice the toppings will fall on the table. There was some music playing in the restaurant to give a upbeat feel to the place. Who in there right mind goes out to eat when they have a cold, the flu or for Christ sake Covid and with a roll of paper towels right beside them doesn't cover their mouth? An idiot or someone self absorbed and selfish. Back to the restaurant clean nice atmosphere. Like I said sincere service, why i left 20%. We both ordered the Pasta Sampler, MISTAKE. The dish came out hot, but covered with what look and tasted like store bought Mozzarella. Not a lot of sauce, no meat in the Lasagna and we'll let's just say I couldn't tell the difference between the samples in the sampler. If i want a bowl of cheese and bread, Ill go to my favorite Mexican restaurant and order the Queso Flameado, at least ill find some meat. Bread was good but, if I want to eat bread, I'll probably go to Daily bread or some other bakery. My own fault for going again after the first time. We got a Stromboli and a Calzone to go: they were in a paper bag , both were soggy, mine was supposed to have ricotta cheese as well as mozzarella. No ricotta , you can imagine what texture that experience brought, couldn't eat it all. Ambiance good. Wait staff sincere and trying. Food Severely Disappointing. From the minute we walked in to the time we left our experience at this restaurant was stellar! Their lunch specials were so reasonable in their pricing and portions are tremendous. I had the stromboli and it was loaded with meat n cheese. I asked for the Italian salad and the server informed me I could have a smaller one which had artichoke hearts, olives, mushrooms which made the charge of only $4.00 a steal. The server was very attentive and the place is very clean. In the background was softly played Italian music. I can honestly say this was the best restaurant experience I have had. I must say, this mom and pop Italian restaurant is amazing. The vibe when you first walk in even assures you that it is going to be good. The smells, the homey feels. Both times we have been, we have been friendly greeted and had the pleasure of having amazing waitresses who are sweet and and on top of your table. We have tried the pepperoni calzone, the chicken Florentine and the chicken tortellini and "man oh man!" The flavor hits you hard. It is so delicious! The bread they serve are fresh, soft and fluffy.
