Stopped on the way to a meeting for an early dinner and I wasn't disappointed. It was early so seating was quick and not crowded. Our server was awesome and quick with the salads and the main dish. We chose chicken piccata, a personal favorite. The salad was nondescript but fresh and the creamy Italian was good but not really a house specialty. The bread here is worth the trip, so fresh and delicious. And they serve actual butter! I didn't try the oil dip, but I will next time, because this bread!!! The chicken piccata wasn't quite as lemony as I'm used too but it was very good with plenty of capers, I'll just ask for a slice of lemon to spritz next time. The chicken was lightly browned and just thick enough, not wafer thin and poached like some Italian restaurants like to do. I loved it! The portion was ample, I brought some home for lunch tomorrow. This restaurant provides some authentic Italian food as well as a great atmosphere. I loved the opera music throughout the restaurant as well. For food, I ordered the garlic bread with cheese and the Philly cheesesteak. The other members of my party ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the Ziti Campagnolo. First, the cheesy garlic bread was delicious. Next, the cheesesteak was tasty, but the steak was a little dry. Third, the ziti was flavorful and delicious. Lastly, the spaghetti and meatballs were cooked to perfection. For the service, our waitress, Amy, was super sweet and attentive. She even went the extra mile and brought napkins before we could even ask, which goes to show how well-prepared she was. Overall, a great restaurant! I will be back soon. Whenever my wife and I are in the mood for Italian, our number one choice is Casa Pasta. The food is always consistently good and the service is great. Their house salad is crisp, cold and fresh. Their tomato basil dressing is special. I go for the Trio, which includes portions of chicken parm, lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo. Each is delish. Add their homemade bread and you're in heaven. There is always a nice crowd, and you can hear yourself. The Italian ambiance is understated, which I like. The servers constantly check on you and I don't think they have ever messed up the order in the years we have been going. read more

I've been wanting to try Casa Pasta in Helotes since it opened. We finally went tonight. The service was great. Our waitress was nice and did her best to get food out in a timely manner. They were short three servers. I really wanted this place to be amazing. We were not that impressed. At our table, we ordered the Trio Platter, Baked Ziti, and Egg Plant Parmigiana with fettuccine Alfredo instead of spaghetti with marinara. We also ordered the dipping sauce. Bottom line is we were not impressed and will not return. But if you want to know why, here is why. Feedback: Dipping oil: This was highly recommended by other reviewers, so we knew it was a must to try. However, I think we needed a lesson or something. This was our first time at Casa Pasta, so when it arrived, we started dipping our bread into the large bowl of oil. We were trying to get the green leaves and the stuff on the bottom of the bowl onto our bread and in doing so, the oil was soaked up by the bread. Biting into this, was like eating a spoonful of oil, if you dipped too long. However, we figured out that you need to scoop the dipping oil onto your plate, then dip your bread into the oil. I figured this out because I decided to put parmigiana cheese on my plate and just add the oil there. It was then that I realized all the stuff in the oil that was at the bottom of the bowl and scooped that onto my plate. Much better. The Trio Platter: It had way too much Alfredo sauce compared to the amount of noodles served. The lasagna was like a mush of lasagna; like the last scoop out of the lasagna casserole. It was not a nice lasagna piece. The chicken parm and the lasagna were all like one, instead of two pieces. Baked Ziti: This was so hot, it was unenjoyable. It had to cool off for a long time. It was also not as big as the picture seen. The baked Ziti had an okay flavor, but was way to hot. Egg Plant Parmigiana: Okay, this one was mine. I asked for a substitution; fettuccine alfredo, instead of spaghetti. I was charged a dollar for the noodle substitution and $4 for the the sauce substitution. Five EXTRA dollars. The fettuccine alfredo was good, a little bland, but good. The eggplant's first bite or two was good, but then it was just mushy inside and did not look like eggplant at all, to be honest. It looked like it was stuffed with something, but it was not supposed to be. It just wasn't good. All the food was edible and was eaten, but it was just not all that great. We won't return to Casa Pasta. And this is unfortunate because I really wanted this to be my new go to Italian restaurant. I hope this was helpful. read more

My oh my...an Italian restaurant we're so glad finding! Found this on the way back from our trip to Boerne. At first we were skeptical because the restaurant in the same complex in the opposite corner was "flashier" than Casa Pasta, but we still decided to go here. All I can say is wow. If you've been to Olive Garden, the food here tops it for sure for sure. Bread they give prior to your meals is smooth and fresh. I had the Pasta Trio and that flavor has that "homecooked" style goodness. The cream on both lasagna and Fettuccine is definitely 5 stars. Even the Chicken Florentine my wife had was sooo good. Even with a minor hiccup on mistakenly giving our appetizer to another customer (which were Mozzarella sticks that we later got, is also recommended), you definitely want to try out this Italian restaurant, you wont regret it. read more

Well, service wasn't very good. We went midday around 3pm on a Saturday and the restaurant wasn't very busy but our waitress rarely stopped by our table and it was so hard to get her attention to get more napkins, order bread that everyone else in the restaurant seemed to get but us or even to get my plate after the rest of my dining party had already had theirs for 20 minutes. Yep, that's right, 20 plus minutes. She said my lasagna would be out shortly after she brought out all the other dishes but nope... I waited and waited and then finally after getting her attention after a few failed attempts and asking her if my dish was still on the way, she brought it out. I'm guessing she forgot the dish under the heat lamp. We also asked for bread when we got our appetizer because we saw that every single table seemed to have bread and bread is always good to eat with pasta dishes. The bread ended up coming well after all our main courses were nearly finished. The food was just okay. My friend's Chicken Siciliano was very greasy and bland and my lasagna was nothing spectacular. Also wasn't a fan of their bruschetta. Traditionally bruschetta is grilled, crispy slices of a baguette rubbed with garlic and topped with a mixture of basil and tomatoes. Casa Pasta's bread wasn't traditional, it was more like regular soft French bread sliced and you could scoop the toppings onto the bread. Well my son and I were slated to go to an African restaurant near us. When he learned that he would have to eat with his fingers, he balked at the idea and we ended up coming to Casa Pasta. My wife had raved about it after eating there with a group of retired teachers. The restaurant was nearly empty when we got there. We both prefer going around 2:00 so there aren't a lot of people. Our server was super attentive, but not clingy. I ordered pasta with the white wine clam sauce. It was really good, just like my grandmother's. The bread that they served was amazing. I couldn't help dipping it in the leftover wine sauce and eating it, although I was already full. We had ordered the caprese salad, not realizing that we would be served HUGE salads with our meals. We were both too full for dessert, but I told the server I wanted to hear about them. I ended up bringing two of them home. I ate one of them. It was some kind of lemon cake, which was out of this world. I can't even remember the other one which my wife ate. Not good for groups. We had a party of 14 and were not able to be seated together. The restaurant had plenty of space, but we were told that due to fire regulations they simply could not seat a party larger than 10 together (this is 2 tables of 4, pushed together). It easily looked like there were a few spots along the wall or shifting the tables the opposite direction that easily could have worked, but they chose not to accommodate. The food was ok. I did notice that they changed their portion size (smaller than a couple of years ago) and ingredient amounts (less meat and more sauce to cover) though and did not have the dessert we wanted so all in all it was a bust. I noticed this spot while picking up a pizza across the parking lot and so I looked it up in Yelp and saw the high ratings and inviting food pics so I decided to give it a try. Stopping in for an early lunch we caught it before the place got crowded and were seated immediately by the hostess. After a quick review of the lunch menu I decided to order a Greek salad to start off with and the meat lasagna as my entrée. Our waitress came back shortly with the salad and a basket of fresh baked bread. The Greek salad was not what I have come to know as a Greek salad as it contained lettuce, onions, tomatoes, olives, and cubed feta chunks all in a creamy type salad dressing. It wasn't bad but I would probably order the house or cesar salad next time. Now, the bread they brought us was hot, toasty, and straight out of the oven. It had a nice crunch on the outside and was oh so tender on the inside. Adding some butter only made it better. I asked the server what type of bread this was and she told me it was there house bread which they make themselves, excellent! The lasagna came out next and it looked and smelled delicious. The marinara sauce used was very tasty and seasoned well and was mixed perfectly with the ground beef and cheese between the pasta layers. The sauce was so good I used the bread to soak it all up and left the plate bare. A nice spot when you're craving some yummy Italian food! Breads are soft and tasty. The garlic cheese bread had good cheese - not the plastic type that some others serve you. It doesn't come with sauce (I feel like it should have), so we ordered a side and were glad we did. Raspberry vinegrette was sweet and delicious. Marinara sauce is just right and tastes like an authentic Italian grandmother-made marinara. Alfredo sauce is fresh made and clings to the noodles just right. The chicken parm was good, but not my favorite - chicken was juicy but didn't seem like it was freshly breaded and may have been frozen at some point in its lifetime (that's a guess). It was cold, and had a stale chewy texture, It appeared fresh and crispy but was not. I called back and was easily refunded. The salmon Picatta over pasta was tasty and cooked perfect. I added more lemon and dill but overall I enjoyed it and was served enough for two full servings. The accompanying side salad was less green than preferred but fresh and clean. read more

The lasagna was one layer of sliced cheeses, one layer of lasagna noodles, marinara sweet sauce in a bed of linguini noodles. The taste was fair at best. My wife's salmon was over cooked drenched in wine sauce with a side of carrots drenched in the same sauce. She only finished 1/3 of her plate. The bread was ok, a bit dry for my taste.
